credit
The scammer never had a ''list'' to begin with, so it's just one more lie, and you will continue to get similar calls, and probably from numbers less obviously spoofed than this one.

Several of these scam operations have been killed by the FTC since 2010. Much more needs to be done. Pour on the complaints, folks. See older discussions on the credit reprice scam under these numbers : 714-244-5025, 402-982-0479

Here's a link to a site which helps explain the scope of the problem:

I get a recording offering to lower the interest rates on my card from an American woman. I press the button to talk to someone because there was no opt-out option. I want them to take me off their calling list. I get a guy with a real bouncy Indian accent who will not cooperate with me. He says he has the power to cancel my credit cards. I HAVE NO CREDIT CARDS, I keep repeating. I ask him for the name of the person he is trying to reach at this number. He wants me to give him MY name. I won't do it. We go around and around. I ask to speak to his supervisor. He says, "I am the supervisor". He is petulant and annoying. Finally, I yell, "YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO TELL ME WHO YOU ARE CALLING AT THIS NUMBER BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ANY CREDIT CARDS." He says, "okay, I will take you off the list."
