So if I gather correctly, LTD Commodities, a/k/a Lakeside Collection, is a catalog retailer of housewares and such, one with a history of customer service problems. They've been beaten down for years over parcel delivery fees, backorder snafus, and poor processing of returns and refunds. Probably the whole thing is a drop ship front and much of what's in the catalog is not actually in the same room as the person writing the promo copy.

Little wonder then, if (as I speculate) LTDC periodically builds a portfolio of distressed debt from all those deals gone south and hocks them to a junk debt collector rather than actually improve its processes or correct customer problems. It's nothing that hasn't happened before .... I say as I glare at my long defunct Sears credit card.

Good thing for us the law places the burden of proof of a debt claim on the collector and not the consumer. What's more, junk debt buyers almost never have a proper chain of title. They can't prove anything beyond the name and contact data for each alleged debtor sold with bundled debt accounts. The key, as I have suggested in December, is to dispute early and each time some boiler room of thugs wants your money.

If the account has aged past Statute of Limitations in your state, or it was never yours, feel free to skip validation requests and go right for the cease-comm letter, sent via USPS Certified with card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft these letters.

TOLD PINNACLE THAT, LTD CLAIMED THEY RESOLED THIS, COMPLAINED OF HARASSMENT TO LTD TO TELL THEM TO TAKE ME OFF THEIR LIST. THEY DIDN'T. NOW AFTER NOT HEARING FROM PINNACLE IN ABOUT A YEAR, THEY ARE CALLING AGAIN. SORRY, NOT PAYING FOR $90 WORHT OF STUFF I ALREADY PAID FOR 3 YEARS AGO.
AND, THEY'RE RUDE ON THE PHONE. LADY GOT REALLY RUDE AND I ASKED FOR HER MANAGER. I WAS ON HOLD LONG ENOUGH FOR HER TO TELL THE CHICK NEXT TO HER WHAT WAS GOING ON, SHE WAS WORSE THAN THE FIRST LADY. FINALLY JUST HUNG UP ON HER. NOW I DON'T EVEN BOTHER, I JUST HIT THE IGNORE BUTTON. TEMPTED TO GET A FOG HORN FOR THE NEXT CALL...

Can the collector be short of staff the Monday after Xmas? Pinnacle is an alias of LVNV Funding, an outfit with many names and minions, and a busy history of lawbreaking. Make them validate and watch your account get passed around "Hot Potato" style and as your rights are violated.

If you are receiving repeated, misdirected, and/or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, you may find relief in the provisions of the FDCPA, the Federal law which regulates collector behavior. Learn your rights at FTC-dot-gov. See also your state laws for additional support.
