This is from the Washington State Secretary of state web site. I got it through Googling "Assocoated Community Services". I called the business number and asked to be put on their "Do Not Call"list and they took my number. We'll see what happens....................................

This number belongs to a "for-profit" solicitor/ telemarketer/ fundraiser named "Associated Community Services" or "A C S" working on behalf of 3rd party "charities".

You may also be getting the same hang-up or solicitation calls from other unknown numbers or "charities" but they may be coming from Associated Community Services. Some of the ACS "charities" include:

Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation, Inc.
Breast Cancer Society, Inc., The
Cancer Fund of America, Inc.
Children With Hairloss, Inc.
Children's Cancer Fund Of America, Inc.
Children's Charitable Foundation
Crusade For Child Safety, Inc.
Detectives Benevolent Association
Disabled Veterans Services, Inc.
Firefighters Assistance Fund, Inc.
FireFighters Charitable Foundation
Firefighters Support Services, Inc.
Foundation For American Veterans, Inc.
Law Enforcement Alliance of America, Inc.
Law Enforcement Education Program
National Children's Leukemia Foundation
Operation Lookout National Center for Missing Youth
Washington Chapter Of The United States Navy Veterans Association
Youth Development Fund (Tennessee)

Some fun facts about Associated Community Services:

1. Per the State of Washington Secretary of State, only about 42% of collected donations go to the 3rd party "charity". I've read that in several cases they keep 80% of donations. In the case of Cancer Fund of America, the BBB indicates that the "charity" donated less than 3/10ths of 1% of cash contributions. These are FOR PROFIT "charities".

2. ACS was sued by the State of Missouri and awarded $100,000+.

3. Google "Associated Community Services lawsuit" and see all of the other lawsuits and complaints ACS is involved in.

4. The State of Connecticut filed suit against ACS in 2009

5. The State of Oregon filed suit against ACS in 2010.

6. The State of Iowa filed suit against ACS in 2010.

Contact Associated Community Services at 248-352-2600 and ask for their customer service department and demand they put your number on their Do Not Call list.

File a Better Business Bureau complaint against Associated Community Services. They are listed with the BBB as "A C S" in Southfield MI. Don't forget the spaces between the letters when you search!

Contact the "charity" and demand your number be added to their Do Not Call list (good luck)

File a BBB complaint about the individual "charity" ACS is calling on behalf of.

Contact your State Attorney General and file an FTC complaint

No message, and the times I have answered the phone, no one seemed to be on the line. Very annoying!

Some breast cancer charity... I agreed to donate just to get this relentlessly cheerful woman to shut up. (I will doublecheck to make sure it's legit before sending the check, of course.) Four days later - same phone number - a guy calls me to ask why I chose to donate. WTF? Then he thanked me blah blah blah.

I told them I would give $20.00 and I did not sent it and now they keep calling. They spelled my name wrong and after reading the other comments they will not get my money. I give to the Susan Koman Foundation and will continue to. This really makes me mad because I had breast cancer and for them to keep most of the money is terrible. They should not try to make money off of something that people are dying with daily. The money is needed to find a cure and they should be ashamed of themselves.

I am glad I did a bit of checking on the United States Navy Veteran's Association before sending any donation. I definitely like to support our sailors and soldiers, but I found that the Better Business Bureau reports that the fundraiser keeps 90% of the donations. We can do much better than that.

I am glad I tried this site. I received the call for Us Navy Verterans Asso. to donate for them to send packages to a troop member. Being they keep most of the donation I am not sending to them. I sent through a Cookie place in Maine. I know they receive these because I have sent to my son in Iracq and Afganistan. And they also have where from this cookie place to donaate so other guys are sent to that may not be getting from someone.

The telemarketer is Associated Community Services, Inc. 29777 Telegraph Road, Southfield, MI 48034. Warning -- they keep most of the money and if asked, will admit they are recording the call without your knowledge or permission, which is illegal in 18 states.

They call me on my cell phone and home number, both of whom are unlisted three to four times a day. My numbers were never given to them by me, nor have I been in the armed forces. I have found out online that they alissit money for their cause and this is fraud. Don't send them any money ever or answer their calls. The phone company you have shouldn't list your private unlisted phone numbers to anyone. This is why were paying money to our phone companies to have just that, unlisted telephone numbers. Why should we pay our telephone companies money for unlisted numbers if they are just going to make them public. I'm disabled,I'm the mother of 5 children and use only one arm, and to allow this to happen to me or anyone else for that matter should be illegal... They should be ashamed of themselves to even associate the name U.S. Navy Veterans Association with our Armed Forces....

Breast Cancer Society. I pledged $25 over the phone. Three days after receiving the pledge form, calls from this number were showing on my caller ID several tiems a day. Apparently, they expect you to return the form with payment the day you receive it. I was home once when theyc alled and I explained that I hadnt sat and done the bills yet. The next day, the calls began again.
After furter investigating, I found out the the BCS hires solictiing companies to call and harass people to return the form. I will not be sending a donation ever again - I want my money going to research, not to pay solicitors.

I Pledged a whooping $20.00 over the phone. It was all I had left to my name. But when the pledge sheet came in the mail... The return address did not appear to be in a business area in a little town in Fl I knew well. So I looked up the name "United States Navy Veterans Association" with an address match and Also under "PMB 263- Contrib Process CTR FL" that was also on my pledge card, and there was "No Match". The same # called a few days later thanked me for my pledge and aked me if I was able to send it out. I told her it was sitting on my desk ready to go out, as soon as I could afford a stamp. Well I DON'T THINK SO!

I recieved a call and agreeded to send them some money. We already give to several cancer organizations. They completely mispelled my name, Dill and acompletely different last name. I called them and had themm correct my name. They send me another donation form with the wrong name again. They calll me often and agree to change my name and continue to send it to Dill %$#&^(. I have disided after checking them out and finding many complaints to continue sending my money to St. Judes and Pheonix Children's Cancer Center.

I got a call last week asking for a pledge for the us navy veterans association. My company does matching funds, and I could not find a record of them anywhere. They called back tonight, Sunday at 8:15. I asked if they were seriously calling me on a sunday night. It appears this number is a boiler-room operation for charities.

I received a call from this Breast Cancer Society and I pledged to mail in $10.00. For one reason or another, I had not been able to mail it in. I mostly pay my bills on line or over the phone, so it was very inconvenient for me to go to the post office. They insisted that I mail it in with in a wk & when I didnt they kept calling.I became suspicious when I couldn't make my pledged payment online or over the phone. Then I saw this website and it made me think that this Breast Cancer Society is not legitimate. I will try to get my number on the do not call list when they call again. Its sad that someone is trying to profit over someone elses tragedies.

They called me again - I explained what I had found out about them via this site and she yelled at me that it wasn't true and got very argumentative! Hmmmm.........me think you 'doth protest too much!" And now today I got a "Friendly Reminder" pledge billing in the mail. No way am I sending them money! I can't believe they haven't been shut down by now!!

I actually rec'd two calls from these folks. I agreed to send $10 even though I have already donated elsewhere for this cause. When I got their pledge paperwork I became suspicious about the logo they used. It is a pink ribbon but has this diamond shape at the tip of one of the ends of the ribbon. Not like any breast cancer cure "pink ribbon" logo I had ever seen. So I came to the web and found this site - wow! Upset that I was being scammed but glad I listened to my gut about the possibility! Their tagline says: "from victim to surviro" ......I will not be a victim to their scam!

I now also believe this thing is likely a scam. I pledged $20 on the phone but after receiving the invoice for my donation, I became suspicious and found this web page. What did the Better Business Bureau have to say after this 'charity'?

I received a call just like everyone else. When they told me to make sure to mail my check back as soon as I got the information, it made me question. I waited until I got the packet to do my research. After finding a few conflicting things online, I called the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The woman I spoke with nor people around her had ever heard of them. I explained the persistence everyone has spoke about with them requesting to send the money quickly and it struck her odd as well. The only suggestion she had was to check with the BBB, and since others have already done so I personally am choosing to put my money towards the Race for the Cure where I know it will be legit. This is a very sad thing if it truly is a scam and I hope they would see the error of their ways and discontinue the efforts immediately.

First call today, 7:19PM. I didn't pick up and they didn't leave a msg. But I did contact a few of the charities they are claiming to use on their website, and make sure they were aware that their good name is being used by this company.

These people are a "boiler-room" operation. They have been making calls claiming to be The Breast Cancer Society and The Navy Veterans Association to beg money. They sent me a letter, although the phone number shows to be coming from Michigan, their mail drop is in Pinole, CA, their return address is;

Someone claiming to be US Navy Vets Assn called me from 248-351-5662 asking for donations and sent me a mail package. They use high pressure tactics to get a "pledge", then make several calls to your phone from a michigan number listed above. The US Navy Vets Assn is headquartered in Washington DC so I assume the above numbered people are scammers. Screw them and let them go down with their boat.

i cannot figure out why this number keep s calling me.. i have *69 this number for more than i 'd like to say over the past few weeks .all it says it is a recent pledge reminder.. no message is left on my answering machine.. i get a call from them on the average of 4 - 6 times a day.. i have called the number back numerous times asking them not to call me any longer.. and that there is never a message left on my machine..they have no other options available at any time of the day to speak to some one there and they do not state on behalf of whom they are calling..

Some outrageously rude female with unprofessional, substandard English insisted upon speaking to a member of my household. When told she was calling *our* private home and thereby obligated to identify herself first, she insisted that she did not. I gave her one last chance and she launched into a pitiful ghetto diatribe on why she needed neither common courtesy nor respect for intruding upon my private residence. Not only an insult, a waste of my time, and not what I signed up to do this morning, I simply had no more time for this sad little person who never seemed to have been given the benefit of simple home training. I tried, but unable to make up for a lifetime of education and manners in one or two appeals to logic, I hung up.
