I received a call from this number several weeks ago asking to speak to my roommate, identifying himself as from microsoft tech support. the thick accent didn't fool me so I said "just a minute"and left the phone off the hook for a few minutes, then I hung up. I kept this # on a pad next to my phone. this morning a call came again, but i let it ring.it stopped after nine rings, then immediately there was a call from "private caller" which I also did not answer.
I got a call from this # ( 219-557-9212 )at 12:35 AM; a male with a thick Asian accent asked for me by name, which he mispronounced ( like a real tech would do ), I said there's no one here by that name; he insisted this was an official call from Microsoft, that they had to block my computer. I yelled at him because I've heard of this scam & he finally hung up.
Lately we have been getting calls in the early morning. The callers state that our computer is slow because of spyware and that they offer licensed Microsoft assistance. The thick foreign Asian accent and the probing questions keep coming daily. It's most likely a scam.
