So I had x2 attempted calls (did not answer). Then had a call from 02 8027 2490 which was in-fact the Citibank Verifications Team. They needed some additional details for a card application.
This number is used by Citibank collections to avoid having their calls screened. I spoke to a citibank employee today and informed them that they are breaking australian telecommunications laws by "spoofing" their caller ID number. I also informed them that I would be reporting this incident to the Financial Services Ombudsman and the Australian Telecommunications Authority. The woman on the line tried to deny that it was citibank but then admitted that they use this number if they are unable to contact customers. I explained to her in no uncertain terms that THIS IS A CLEAR BREACH OF AUSTRALIAN LAW. Miraculously, she became VERY co-operative and offered to wipe $740 off my outstanding balance.
Algerian phone number. Not actually sure who it was as I answered "Dave's sperm bank, you spank it, we bank it" and they hung up.
Got 5 missed calls from this number in 5 minutes.
I received a call on 20 June at 10:45

This is Citibank collections sending a fake overseas number so you don't know it's them - angry message left by Indian/Asian lady - her real Citibank contact number is 028-225-7369
If this is a third party, this Suncorp should darn well care. The FDCPA specifies a 13 hour daily window for collection calls. Oh-dark-thirty-AM is a violation, worth a grand in settlement. Learn your rights at FTC-dot-gov.

It's the Suncorp Visa collections depart (sold to Citibank). They phone every month between midnight and 5am because they don't care about the 14 hour time difference.
I have received 2 calls last night on my mobile at 02:38 am, I saw it this morning when I woke up, fortunatelly the phone was in silence mode..
Had 4 missed calls within 10 minutes on my mobile phone. Didn't leave a message and when I tried to ring back all I got was some sort of international message from Telstra.
Said they were from city finacial and they wanted to talk to the owner of this account. Didnt say what account so I just hung up. They called right back and repeated the same thing in a angry voice. I resisted the urge to tell them to ****off and hung up again.
