Thanks for the info. I have friends on the left coast and thought this might be one of them. I didn't recognize the number, so I let the answering machine get it. Of course, there was no message; now I know why.
Definitely a scam! They just called me today with the same automated message. I rarely get "spam" on my cell phone, but when I do it makes me flaming mad. >:(
This is a TOTAL a "phishing" scam. Don't fall for it no matter how "legit" they sound or whatever threats they make...Report them immediately and inform them (if you speak with someone) that the call is beming monitored, recorded, and the authorities have been called..
I just received a call from this number as well!! It was an automated message (one of those stuttering, cumputerized sounding ones) saying that "your visa debit card has been deactivated for security". In dealing with my bank over the years....I know that they don't have an "automated message" (not to mention one that sounds like a computer form the early 1980s) when dealing with security issues. I DEFINITELY did not go through the process, I just hung up. My boyfriend also got the same call from the same # with the same "security issue" and he banks at a local CU...they would have called him personally. I called my bank and all is fine with my card. It is a "phishing" scam. Don't fall for it.
automated message said my Visa was deactivated ... then to reactivate asked for my 16 digit card number. i think its a scam
the number here that called my phone was threatning harrassing and very threatful i no longher want this number calling my phone
