I hate to jump in on your message, but I received a call, just as you had, and I decided to check out the number on the 'net since I wanted to make sure it wasn't a call I actually wanted to answer. Imagine how surprised I was to see that someone else had the exact same call just moments before I did!!! In fact, I have received a number of calls from this phone number (44 208-861-9450). If I still believed in the power of basic knowledge, I'd say the call originated in the UK as 44 is the country code for the UK when dialing it from other parts of the world. However, the next three digits, which would typically be the area code (208), is for Idaho. Unfortunately, with the inception of VoIP phone calls, that phone call could have originated anywhere in the world since a user can enter whatever they please in many software programs, thereby completely concealing where the call actually originated.
For what it's worth, I would suggest anyone receiving a call from this same phone number simply ignore it as Ben is most likely right on target - it's another scam, probably from Nigeria or in that general part of the world, to get your personal financial information - and money... and those rats can be VERY convincing to the unaware person who answers the phone!!!
Beware the boogeyman on the other end of the phone line!!!!!!!!!!!
