It would be a pleasant surprise if a debt collector actually obeyed a verbal cease-comm. From the other threads I've seen on this AmSher, I'm not holding my breath. I see the same old lawbreaking and abusive practices as across the industry. Mrs H, the reps can't say much without breaching the privacy of the alleged debtor, a sore spot for lawsuits.
If you are receiving repeated, misdirected, and/or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, you may find relief in the provisions of the FDCPA, the Federal law which regulates collector behavior and provides you simple tools for your own defense.
