On Wednesday 1/21 I received a recording on my cell phone from my bank letting me know that my credit/debit card had been stolen online. The recording asked me to press “1” for more information. Upon pressing “1” the recording asked me to type in my credit card number. Of course after hearing that I hung up and decided to call my bank to verify whether this was a true incident.

Turns out, the recording is fake and somehow my cell phone number and the bank I am currently a member of were confiscated. Luckily whoever these people are could not get into my bank account. This incident has been spreading and I was told many people have been victims of this scandal. Please don’t let this happen to you.

If you receive a call on your cell phone from your bank telling you that your credit card has been stolen report this to your bank as soon as possible. These people need to be caught.
