The caller said they were calling to investigate an allegation of check or debit card fraud and that I had until close of business that day to call back or they would call my employer to verify my employment. The call didn't come until almost 5 PM (which to me is close of business for most people in that time zone). When I called, an automatic answering machine had this message: "This call is being recorded. If you do not wish to be recorded, please disconnect now. I stayed on the line. About five seconds later, the call disconnected on its own.
