Basically alot of these political callers get numbers from voter registrations. The information such as address and phone number is openly given to the campaign offices. Based on how much junk mail and calls others in my family get, I'll never register to vote. Only other thing I can suggest is to not give your phone number, but you'll still get junk mail though.

They just called here. My caller ID showed AFL CIO. No idea who they are and I've been on the Do Not Call registry for some time now.

Received a call from this number on July 15, 2011 at 9am. There was no message on my voicemail. I am on the DO NOT CALL Registry. Obviously, it doesn't apply to MANY companies.

I too just got this call on my cell phone. It's December 12th at 3:30 pacific time. I live in Las Vegas area. I just got "hello" and nothing more. I called back and got a "mailbox is full" message. Obviously it isn't about elections since it's December.

Got a call on my iPhone today (July 28, 2010) at 12:05:55 PM. I have NO IDEA how they got my number. Here is a transcript of the message (though some of it was hard to make out). "this is cash(?)... Workers of America (the union?). Think Xerox is a copier company? Think again. today Xerox runs a multi billion dollar outsourcing business that ships American jobs overseas. That's their new corporate model, exporting our jobs. visit www.xeroxexportsourjobs.com to find out how to stop xerox from destroying American jobs. again to protect american jobs please visit www.xeroxexportsourjobs.com. thank you. you can also reach cwa at 212-344-2515 or at 80 Pine St. New York, NY 10005 or visit www.xeroxexportsourjobs.com." I Googled CWA and it was one of the first few hits. I also went to the website (I have a mac so i didnt get a virus that i can see), and it looks legit, but I am not clicking on anything. I am really curious as to WHY they called me, because they had to have gotten my number from some larger database and I do not want more of these junk calls!

I just received a call from this number on my PRIVATE cell phone... which all of 3 people have the # for. I have been extremely selective on giving this number out, so it is rather annoying. Anyway.. I answered and it was a recording from "Working America" urging people to vote.

It does seem to be AFL-CIO. My husband is a member of that union and all the calls have been recordings telling us to vote for X candidate, the horrors of Z candidate, vote early, etc. The daily calls from them, along with all the other political calls, are REALLY annoying. We homeschool and the constant needless interruptions interfere with lessons. (We keep the phone on and use Caller ID for important calls.)

I answered the phone and all I heard was a recorded woman's voice that said "hello."

I don't know anyone from the AFL-CIO so I let the call go to our answering machine. When I called the number all I got was a woman's voice saying "Thank you for your call, please leave a message."
