I am so sick of these numbers calling and not taking me off their list. they call and call and call and call. I have this Michigan number call relentlessly for the entire month 269-768-2640, also these numbers new hampshire 603-214-3648 202-495-7170 Dist Columbia 978-570-2070 Massachuetts.

Every time you get a call call the FTC the number is 1-877-382-4357. keep your reference number, and every time these scammers call you, call the ftc, be stern, be belligerent, let the FTC know you want these calls to stop and have these so called companies shut down for good. The more people call the FTC to report these numbers, the faster it will result in fines and shut downs.

Call the FTC demand these numbers be nixed.

I am all for a lawsuit at this point, these calls have been going on for a month straight and they will not remove my number from their lists. I'm also very upset that Candians cannot register for the USA's do not call lists, if the table was turned, the US government would be having a fit with Canada over this, we Canadians will only be nice for so long.

They've been calling me for about a year sometimes several times a week, so frequently. I get a recorded message about how it's the last chance to lower my credit card's interest rate. I've taken the automated option to have my number removed from their list many times. I've also pressed the other number feigning interest in their offer to receive a live operator, whereupon I ask to have my number removed. They repeat my number to me to see if it's correct, act like they're happy to help, and tell me they've removed it, but the calls keep comming.

OOps. Sorry, the message below was for a different call. (I've had three in less than three hours today.) This one says I've got credit troubles and they can help. Guess what? This is an identical scam to that vehicle warranty scam they've been talking about on the news. They act as if they are your credit card company and say it's your last chance to get your interest rates lowered. If you ask them any sort of questions at all they hang up. If you call the number back they say you can press 2 to get off the call list but it hasn't worked yet.
The people at the Fed Trade Commission phone # 1-877-382-4357, were VERY interested in taking my complaint, gave me a reference number, told me to keep it buy the phone and with each call to write it down and call and add it to the complaint. They also told me to expect to get the same call from another number so check each calls number and list them on the additions to the complaint. They seemed familiar with this scam and might be actually working on it.

I just received a call from this number today. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was connected with someone named "Theresa". She started making jokes to me asking if I suck dick for money. So I thought it was just a spoof number for a prank phone call, here's where it gets interesting:

I called back the 877 number found here (1-877-503-2115) and said I was an FBI officer investigating. The person willingly complied and gave me a number to the "HQ" which is: 1-888-872-7808

I just called them. The 888 number is IQORs tech desk. They connected me to the consumer advocacy group. I was very rude and hasty to the lady, but she assured me she was adding me to a real do not call list. When I informed her of how IQOR does their business, she said she was unaware and has never received a phone call like this one. I bet.

Note: Area code 202 is Washington, DC.

Just called me. I hope I didn't screw my bill by pressing one and talking to a live agent.

Solution: When you get them, press one to speak to a live agent. Talk very quietly about how you have $5000 in credit card debt. They will likely increase their headset volume to be able to hear them. Then make the loudest noise you can possibly make. I might buy an airhorn.

 Mar 18th, 2009
this is a telemarketer fishing for "debt consolidation" (LOAN) customers. they do everything possible to sound like the "cardholder services" department from YOUR credit card company, but they don't even know if you HAVE a credit card! plus they make threatening noises like "this is your third and final notice"! they are persistent, annoying, and DO NOT honour the "do not call list" bullshit. and lastly, if you get one of their humanoids on the line, if you don't play along with their script (like try asking them for the name of their company), they just hang up.

rude, obnoxious, and probably (slightly) illegal!

I'm also tired of these calls. Here's what I did. reverse lookup showed Level 3 Communications as the provider. This is incorrect. Spoke to a fraud technician there who looked up the number and said that Paetec owns the number. Spoke to a fraud technician at Paetec who confirmed they own it, but that the number is sold to a wholesaler, Telephone Management. If you call Telephone Management (1-866-708-0401) they will take your numbers and you will stop receiving these calls. If enough people call and complain, Telephone Management will drop them as a customer.

For those with unpublished/unlisted numbers and cell numebrs from providers that don't list cell numbers my advice is NO NOT place your otherwise unpublished number on the DoNotCall list. This list is available to telemarketers and all they need do is place their calls from Canada to US customers and vice versa to avoid prosecution. Canada and the US need to harmonize their DNCL's and make the penalties for non-compliance higher.

This is a fraudulent number being used to scam people. The big phone companies are working with these people and / or selling our numbers to these assholes for a fee. It's all about money. They will also tell you to call the "do not call" list and sign up. This is a waste of time because of allowances to the system for certain TYPES of calls etc. More BS! The ONLY way to stop these people is call your provider and insist they either a. remove these people from your phone (blocking etc.) or b. change your phone number and guard it VERY carefully.

I have received multiple calls from this number in the last few days. I also called back and was able to choose option one to be placed on the "do not call". I really dont think that all of our providers are selling our numbers to others. How many of you have filled information out online? I just recently filled out an application for a local company here and that is when I started receiving these calls on my cell phone which is my primary means of contact. The internet, how great it is, is also the culprit for quite a few issues like this one.

Don't just sit there, everyone send this template to your carrier's head office like I did:

------

The mobile phone numbers under my account have been compromised. There is a new form of fishing scheme which I would like to bring your office's attention to. Here are some reference websites which are continuously updated with new complaints:

1. http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-202-495-7170

2. http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/2024957170

This is happening on a massive scale, and I would like some form of response from your office.

Hey folks. All these calls to our cell phones have nothing to do with the Do Not Call List, or whether or not you are on it. And cell companies aren't selling our numbers to anyone. The telemarketers/scammers have now simply switched to dialing cell phone numbers, because there is no DNCL for cell numbers. They just keep dialing numbers one after the other in sequence. If someone answers, the system passes the call to a live person. Except when it doesn't work right, which is why you sometimes get dead silence when you answer. Another less common reason you may get dead air is when computers are calling numbers just to see which ones are answered. Then a day or two later they take all the numbers that were actually answered and call them back with a live person/scammer (assuming they'll be answered again).

P.S. I've also had many calls to my cell from a bunch of 416-000-xxxx numbers, plus today (Feb 26/09) from 202-495-7170. It's all of us, whether Telus, Bell, Rogers, Virgin, or whatever. And thanks to everyone posting your comments and info about these numbers!
