This is the second call this week from this number. We don't answer calls when the ID is not someone we know-- figure if it's important, they'll leave a message. This number has never left a message.

Caller ID: AIR QLTY ALERT, .... uh, right! Didn't answer, left no message. Now, IF this is in fact a fund raiser company for American Lung Association, and IF anyone from that organization happens to read this, why in the world would I give money through such an unscrupulous organization when they purposefully set the caller ID information in a lame attempt to get me to answer the phone? Trick me and expect me to give? NO WAY!! Honest organizations get my business and my donations.

So Bill, you're one that can't stand not to answer a ringing phone? I guess you answer your door too anytime anyone knocks or rings the bell? I let it ring, doesn't bother me in the least to know any of these morons aren't getting thru to me. I also turn my answering machine off - that really gets rid of them pretty quickly. A couple times and just a ringing phone takes up too much time for scumsuckers looking for another doofus to scam.

Infocision calling on behalf of the American Lung Association requesting that I send out eight letters to my neighbors. It does no good to not answer because they keep calling until you do.

Early intel suggests these are charity calls for American Lung Assn. For years until last Spring Am-Lung had hired Akron call center InfoCision. Now they have appeared to switch to rival MDS Communications. Not sure if the deal is exclusive. The current crop of calls is about as bad as InfoCision's, with a similar style of calling repeatedly from a rotating set of numbers and often lacking any useful CID.

We've had calls for the past ten days from the following numbers which are likely on behalf of this charity: 202-367-9124, 202-367-9133, 877-288-3089, 877-815-4868, 877-815-4876

The calls from commercial fundraisers are exempt from Federal DNC under the charity status, even though such call centers are very much for-profit and pocket far too much of what these periodic campaigns collect. At times the "charity" group is itself a profit enterprise, compounding the deception. However, as a commercial entity, each commercial fundraiser is expected to honor its own no-call list and add any number upon request. Break that order, the FTC declares, and "the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000."

Forum complaints through the end of 2009 flag this as a number for rogue debt collector MRS Associates. The call received here carried "Amer Lung Assoc" in its CID. This would mean commercial fundraiser InfoCision has started another campaign for American Lung Assn. MRS does not have a history of spoofing that I know of, possibly the number was reassigned. More evidence is needed to be certain.

Call multiple times daily. Collection Agency. My phone is listed as a private number. They are looking for someone with the same last name - so they must have got my name through some company or someone who has access to unlisted/private numbers. They continue to call even after being told I'm not the person they're seeking. They call often before 8:00 a.m. and after 9:30 p.m.
