678-656-4903, Jan. 2016. Atlanta, GA area. Called my unlisted number. Left no message. I called back. Got a recorded message, "Welcome to our customer relations management platform. It is likely you have received a call from our customer service representative and are calling back for more information or to request we refrain from calling you in the future. If you would like to speak to a representative, press 1 now. If you would like to have your number put into our do not call database, press 2 now. If you would like to leave a message, press 3 now. If you would like to report your concerns over our marketing practices or to provide information to the regulatory agency which governs our industry, please press 4 now." In a male voice. Then it is repeated in a female voice with the addition of "... to be connected to the Federal Trade Commission 888-382-1222. If you would like to hear these selections again, please press 9 now." Press 9. "The selection is not valid."

So, realizing that "the industry" was never identified, of course I did not press 1, 2, or 3. (well duh!) but I did try the 888 number. And it is the National Do Not Call Registry. But I'm SURE they only provide that number as a red herring. My number is already listed there!

I saw this number was report multiple times on other sites. This is not a call to answer.

844-357-1140 Robo scam caller
Keeps calling one or two times every day (usually around 9 or 10am) for someone whose phone number was never ever mine. The digital voice robot claims the person it thinks it’s calling has a late tax payment issue with IRS (i.e. payment was not received). Then tries to get you to call another phone number that’s almost always busy. I know the person the this scammer asks for and that person told me the scammer has been harassing them for months. This person I know has called the police and filed complaints with the FTC, PA States Attorney, etc. and so far nothings been done to stop the calls.
I put this scammer's phone number on NoMoRobo's scam caller list weeks ago. Since then, I know when my phone rings once only, it's probably a scammer who's been blocked by NoMoRobo so I don't answer single ring phone calls anymore. Sometimes this scam caller still gets through (i.e. two rings or more).
Jail the Scammers & telcom co.s that let them do it!

pre-recorded call from Jonathan from Pinnacle Agency. he said my "account", (did not use my name) was submitted to Pinnacle for review. This sounds like a scam attempt. Don't call this number back. I use the Don't Call Registry" 888.382.1222 to block calls like this. It lasts about six months then the bogus calls start again. Looks like it's time to update.

303-353-1974 was the number on the caller ID but it may be spoofed. This company as called me twice before with robo calls, both of which I reported. The second one was a follow up to the first one. It was for a get-rich-quick scheme where you can make $10,000 a week. Yeah, right.

Anyway, the call today was a real person following up too get my registration money or something. Unlike most scammers, he was polite and professional and claimed he is not doing anything wrong. It was very nice of him to call and follow up because it allowed me to report this 3rd call to the FTC at 1-888-382-1222.

The Do-Not-Call list really does work, but we all need to report anyone that breaks the law and calls us. The FTC will only take action if they get enough complaints. I can only imagine how overworked they are trying to keep up with the abuse. :-)

Spanish speaking robotic calls to our unlisted cellular phone. Reported to Nat'l Do Not Call Registry: 888-382-1222. Since it is a recorded message, the call can be reported the same day of registering your number with the Nat'l Do Not Call Registry which they take for both cell phone numbers & land line numbers.

The latest in unwelcome, illegal, prerecorded sales calls are from scammers pitching a safety alert system for older adults.

The callers spoof a phone number so it looks like a local call on caller ID. If you pick up, you’ll hear a message saying you’re eligible for an alert system, or system upgrade, or that someone bought a system for you. The message asks you to “press one” on your phone to talk to a live operator, who will quickly ask for a bank account, credit card, or Medicare number, and maybe an address, to “expedite shipping and handling.”

The best response? Don't press a number, and don’t speak to a live operator. People who gave their information have seen monthly charges of $35 and up for that “free” system. If you get a call with a recorded sales message and you haven't given the company your written permission to call, the call is illegal. Since the call itself is illegal, you can bet the offer is a scam. If you gave information to one of these callers, check your account statements. If you find unexpected charges, ask your bank or credit card company to remove them. Finally, contact the FTC online or at 1-888-382-1222 to report your experience.

Weekly, sometimes daily, nuisance non-human 'avatar' bot phoning with a sales pitch for Caribbean Cruise Lines. When callee asks for a "live"/ "real" person, avatar answers "...I AM a "live" person"... lol

This newest version of invasive and aggressive telemarketing practices eliminates the harassed person's ability to phone back and complain, opt-out from future contact, and/ or reiterate ones disinterest in what they're selling. The automated dialling avatar disconnects the call when one doesn't answer the invasive questions (or says '...don't call this number again'... (yet the calls continue) Not being able to reach a live person/ supervisor translates into the nuisance calls/ voice-mails/ texts and emails continuing. Phoning back doesn't help because "Jennifer", the auto-bot/ avatar disconnects the call.

I reversed the phone number online 571.364.0232. The Better Business Bureau showed numerous complaints against this company and offered Caribbean Cruise Lines Corporate Office number 800.586.6693. I phoned and asked for a supervisor, explaining the harassing avatar calls. I fully expected them to deny any involvement but to my surprise, he stated that the avatar is an integral part of their marketing program... as if there was nothing wrong with what they are doing.

I explained that other telemarketing nuisance calls at least supply an "opt-out" option, if the callee requests that all contact cease, typically that request is granted (that goes double when the person is on the Do-Not-Call list). This company’s choice to disallow the harassed an opportunity to opt-out of future contact is illegal, according to the Federal Trade Commission’s consumer response team. Not to mention that they appear to be hiding their contact information so the public can't locate them (as well as hiding behind robo-caller bot, Jennifer, who auto-answers if the callee phones back). Caribbean Cruise Lines tactics are as slippery as a bag of snakes and are harassing/ abusing the general public.

Word to the wise:
Online accounts ask repeatedly for us to offer-up a mobile number (theoretically so the password can be re-set or an account can be verified-kind of thing) but this is where the problem begins. Accounts are hacked and we may be repeatedly victimised when/ if we agree to supply a phone number as well as an email address when we open a new account of any variety. Over 400k Yahoo Answers accounts were hacked due to this.

Do yourself a favour and register with the National Do-Not-Call registry. It only takes a second. After which, any/ all companies that SPAM you with no-opt-out robo-calls, voice mails, texts and emails can easily be reported (and hopefully stopped).

Consumers can register on-line for the National do-not-call registry by going to www.donotcall.gov.

To register by telephone, consumers may call 1-888-382-1222

Responsible companies are supposed to check the Do-Not-Call list prior to contacting anyone/ everyone. Only the scammers and frauds/ shysters skip this step.

I am about 99% certain they are using a system that takes what you say and uses voice recognition to play messages that sound very much like you are talking to a real person. But if you think about it, you can tell it's not. Try giving responses that are unusual and see what they say then. Even with normal responses you can tell if you pay close attention. It's like you are talking to a clever robot. :-)

Since this telemarketer / lead generator is using a recording, you can report them to the FTC at 1-888-382-1222 even if you are NOT on the federal do-not-call list. Report them. The more complaints the more likely they will be shut down and fined into the stone age. :-)

They say the company is "CMA", a processor for credit card companies and want to give us a lower interest rate. In the past I have assumed they are generating leads for actual companies to later contact us. By using a marketing company, they may be able to avoid violating DNC and robo caller laws. If you provide information and are later contacted by a company, you should report THAT call to the FTC / DNC list as being connected with the original abuse.

But I am now wondering if they other message posters here are not correct about them scamming us out of our credit card information. I played along with the lady that answered and said I was interested. She wanted to make sure I had a valid credit card and asked me to read information from my card and statement. When I said I didn't have them with me she offered to call back. When I said she could give me her number, since I don't give out credit card information to people that CALL ME, she didn't say anything and hung up.

I think the scammers ARE getting more tricky, but we all need to keep reporting the abuse and scams to the Do-Not-Call list at 1-888-382-1222. It seems to take some time, but for the most part it does lessen or stop the junk calls.

And for those of you that want to mess with these people, you can try this: When you get an automated call, and have to hit a key to be connected, it works something like as if you called them. What that means is that the system that calls you then connects you to the scammer. And even if they hang up on you, your phone often stays connected and ties up one of their phone lines. Yes, you will hear a beep-beep-beep, but that is from their phone system trying to trick you into hanging up so they can free the line to make more calls. I left my phone on speaker for over an hour while working on my computer. I was able to tie up their line for that long. Finally I hung up, got their number with *69 and reported the call to the FTC.

I thought that there were certain hours that these telemarketers were not allowed to call between! My caller ID showed "unavailable" from the number 866-487-1222. There was a long message and I caught something about Verizon.. The jerk called at 7:08 AM!!! I am reporting this idiot. I have no idea why we'd get a call from Verizon wireless since I do not use their wireless services.
After that intrusive call waking me up- I would never do business with such inconsiderate jerks!

There is a BBB scam alert for this caller: BBB Alert: Possible New Twist On Medical Alert Scam
Roanoke, VA (August 23, 2013) A series of calls that mirror a previous scam may be attempting to lure seniors into giving away personal information.

The BBB first reported on a Medical Alert phishing scam in May of 2013. In the scam, seniors received robo-calls from scammers posing as representatives of a medical alert monitoring company. They were informed a medical alert system had been purchased for them by an unknown party, and requested banking and other personal information to register.

Now in a new twist, the calls are offering seniors $3,000 in “food savings certificates” along with a free medical alert bracelet. The robo-call says the following message:

“For those sixty years old or older. You now qualify under the new National Senior Assistance Program to receive three thousand dollars in free groceries savings certificates. They can be used at over a hundred major grocery chains across the US. In addition to your three thousand dollars in savings certificate you'll receive a free emergency medical alert bracelet or necklace. This medical alert device is designed to save your life if you ever experience a fall or any other emergencies.”

The recorded message then requests that the receiver press 1 or 5 to accept or deny the free offer, in the very same fashion as the original medical alert phishing scam. It is not apparent at this time what personal information this updated version requests, but as the National Senior Assistance Program does not appear to be a real organization, consumers are advised to hang up the phone.

“The similarities to the original medical alert phishing scam are striking and demand caution,” said Julie Wheeler, President and C.E.O. of BBB Serving Western VA. “Never, ever, give out your personal information over the phone to an unknown party. Just hang-up the phone.”

It is not clear at this time from where the calls are emanating, but consumers in several states have reported receiving the suspicious offers. BBB’s in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Texas have all reported the calls in their respective service areas.

On June 27, 2013, Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli issued a consumer alert, warning citizens to be cautious of the original Medical Alert phishing scam along with the following tips:

• Automated recorded calls from companies are illegal if you have not given a company written permission to call you-even if you have not signed up for the national Do Not Call Registry. To add your number to the registry, you can call 888-382-1222 from the phone you wish to register or visit DoNotCall.gov.

• If you are on the National Do Not Call Registry and have no prior existing business relationship with the company, these telemarketing calls also violate the law. You can file complaints with the Federal Trade Commission at FTCComplaintAssistant.gov.

The Better Business Bureau offers the following tips to avoid becoming a victim of a phishing scam:

• Be wary of anyone offering you something for “free” in exchange for your personal information. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

• Do not provide your bank account information, Medicare number, Social Security number or any other personal information to unknown individuals over the phone.

• Check out the company's BBB Business Review at http://www.bbb.org to see its BBB rating, complaint history and more.

For more advice on fighting fraud, please visit www.bbb.org or contact the BBB Serving Western VA at 540-342-3455 or 800-533-5501.

Telemarketers that don't care about the DNC list. As others have said their name seems to be E-TeleQuote and they are looking to selling something related to insurance.

My phone rep was nice and I don't think they understand how a phone call can be annoying or illegal. Don't waste your time being nasty to them, report the call to the FTC at 1-888-382-1222. It only takes a few minutes to report the call and when enough people complain something will be done and the calls will stop - for everyone. Post about junk calls on sites like this and report them to the FTC and you are doing a LOT to fight this abuse of our telephone system. :-)

The are using a recorded message when they call which is against the law. If you are on the do-not-call list you can report them at 1-888-382-1222.

I know some people say the DNC does not work, but it won't unless we all report these calls. Sometimes it does take a while, but since I signed up about 6 years ago the calls on our two lines have gone from maybe 5-6 calls a month to 3-4 calls a year.

If you live in the US, you should consider registering your phone number with the DoNotCall list sponsored by the Federal Trade Commission by calling 1-888-382-1222 (TTY: 1-866-290-4236). This service may reduce the number of unwanted calls from legitimate telemarketing companies, however, you still need a T-Lock Call Blocker to block these calls not covered by the NoNotCall program):
- Illegitimate telemarketing companies (over 80% of the calls are from these companies!)
- Charity calls (police fund raising, BlueCross, etc)
- Political (surveys, fund raising, etc)
You can take control of your unwanted calls by blocking up to 1,200 phone numbers and faxes.

If you call the number (406.577.1222) an automated message instructs that press any number to be added to the "do not call list". Which I did. I called the Federal Trade Commission,888-382-1222, and registered a complaint for the multiple harassing phone calls I have been receiving on my cell phone from this phone number purporting to be from Microsoft. I also called Microsoft to report the incidents to them and was told that the number was not affiliated with Microsoft. Microsoft checked my cell # and had no record of my number in their system. As I have Apple devices, not Microsoft, I would like to know how this scammer accessed my number.

I can't wait until they call again. Not only is this a waste of my time to check the phone when they have called countless times every day now for a week, but this is simply harassment. If I haven't answered by now, I'm not going to. But today I am going to make an exception. When they call again I am politely going to see what they want and then I am going to tell them that if they don't stop calling, I WILL turn them into the FTC (federal trade comission) for harassment. then I will call that number back and press 1 to take me off their list, but it could take 30 days they say. There is a nice gentelman named Ben at the FTC that helped me with a harassing phone call I had months ago. The FTC phone number is: 1-877-382-4357. Also people can call the Do Not Call Registry at: 1-888-382-1222. I have done this before, but I found out you have to update your number(s) every couple years or so. Hope this helps.

I am getting robocalls from communications companies like AT&T,Verizon, Cingular, etc. The calls come in on my landline and are through resellers. I tracked this number to the main AT&T office and customer service told me to place my number on the Federal do not call list (888-382-1222) and also gave me the address www.wireless.att.com/privacy/opt_out.isb to request that my number be delisted. I reported them to the Do Not Call Registery. I am on the Do Not Call Registery. I registered a complaint against this phone number at the Do Not Call Registery at: 1-888-382-1222. Each time they call they have to pay a fine to the government.

Also, if they are asked not to call again, they no longer can call again, either, even if I did business with them. I never did any buisness with them, either.

This company will get fined until the phone calls stop. I do not care who's phone number is calling illegally. If it does not stop, the owner of this phone number will have big fines to pay.

I got a call from a telemarketer. I reported them to the Do Not Call Registery. I am on the Do Not Call Registery. However, it is against the law to call someone using a recorded message, and this caller did use the answering machine, so even if I were not on the Do Not Call Registery, it is still illegal to call, and leave a message, so I registered a complaint against this phone number at the Do Not Call Registery at: 1-888-382-1222. Each time they call they have to pay a fine to the government.

Also, if they are asked not to call again, they no longer can call again, either, even if I did business with them. I never did any buisness with them, either.

This caller told me they got my number from the Internet, and we do not know each other, and had a product I may be interested in that is a Natural Health Item, and to go to a website if interested.

I am on the Do Not Call Registery, and it is against the law to call and leave voice messages like this. This is the reason they got reported and I registered a complaint against that number. This company will get fined until the phone calls stop. I do not care who's phone number is calling illegally. If it does not stop, the owner of this phone number will have big fines to pay.

The FCC has temporarily halted 7 minor unprofitable boiler rooms who will receive a slap on the wrist and be back at it within a few days. In the meantime the calls will continue since they are making money with what is called a CNAM revenue-sharing program through companies like http://www.telephonemanagement.net and http://www.CallerID4U.com

In their own words: 'Every day your company makes thousands of outbound phone calls. Every one of those calls generates revenue for many companies, why not yours? Our CNAM revenue-sharing program helps you make money every time a Caller ID request is made by a phone carrier. A high-traffic call center can lose hundreds to thousands of dollars a day to phone carriers by allowing them to charge for access to your own data.'

You can now see why the criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. They are making money even if you don't answer the phone. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their scam then it is just icing on the cake for them. These people are the lowest form of filth on this planet.

What To Do When You Get an Illegal Robocall; http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/robocalls
1. Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list and NEVER call them back
2. Consider blocking the number or on a cell phone add it to a contact list and assign NO ring tone
3. Report it at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints
4. Report it at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
5. People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office
6. Report any criminal activity to the FBI here: https://tips.fbi.gov

This is an all out attack from these scum sucking filthy pigs! EVERYONE should be reporting them everywhere that they can. Since this is an obvious attempt at identity theft and is interstate, the FBI should be forced to get involved. Charge them with a CRIMINAL offense and throw them in prison instead of the FCC saying 'Naughty - naughty, now go out and play nice'. (Prosecute them in criminal court instead of civil penalties).

Why
 Mar 05th, 2013

This is an all out attack from these scum suckers! EVERYONE should be reporting them everywhere that they can. Since this is an obvious attempt at identity theft the FBI should be forced to get involved. (Prosecute them in criminal court instead of civil penalties).

Why
 Feb 23rd, 2013

Some sort of political call, wouldn't tell my wife who they were so next time they call me I have set up my TWC Voicezone to automatically forward their call to 1-888-382-1222.

Why
 Feb 21st, 2013

This is an all out attack from these scum suckers! EVERYONE should be reporting them everywhere that they can. Since this is an obvious attempt at identity theft the FBI should be forced to get involved. (Prosecute them in criminal court instead of civil penalties).

Another Call
 Feb 13th, 2013

Why
 Feb 12th, 2013
Scammers have been making phone calls claiming to represent the National Do Not Call Registry. The calls claim to provide an opportunity to sign up for the Registry. These calls are not coming from the Registry or the Federal Trade Commission, and you should not respond to these calls. To add your number to the Registry you can call 888-382-1222 from the phone you wish to register, or go to https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx
