left anb answer phone message asking to call 084-535-60020
- you can find this number listed on the natwest website under 'contact us' and 'in an emergency' for 'Returning a call from our automated service in relation to your debit card?'
This is definately natwest freud team. I didn;t realise but my card had been cloned and nearly £1,500.00 of transiatctions had been made in France. They have set up a refund claim for me and cancelled the card. If you get a call from them do call them back.
This is definitely NatWest. I called their Lost and Stolen Cards number and they confirmed that my card had been compromised from a website and that the police had informed them.
nat west fraud prevention scam
Def real, I found out when card declined then looked at my online account - my account had gone! Rang bank and they as youv'e said confirmed that they thought that there may have been fraudulent activity - I had just spent more, but it is embarrassing and wrong of them to deal with it an an automated fashion, as an accountant this is bad business!
I've just phoned Natwest & this is definitely a call fro their fraud dept. They suggested calling the number on the top of the debit card if unsure about any number you receive a call from.
IS NATWEST FRAUD PROTECTION.
Forget all the comments saying this number is fake -- It is 100% natwest.
But do not take my word for it - If you get a call from this number...
Go to a shop, and try to buy something on your debit card - the card will be declined - you can then call 084-535-60020
and get your card unblocked - and hear all the list of recent transactions, where they were placed, and see if there are any dodggy purchases.
Hope this helps anyone else who was like me at 9pm on a sat night - with the natwest call centres closed.
I didn't trust this number so called the card enquiries number on the back off my natwest card. They put me through to the fraud team and turns out the number was genuine. My account had been flagged up as a possible fraud case (maybe because I was working away and using my card in a different area). I just had to confirm some of my recent transactions to confirm I had performed them. The employee at Natwest said to always call the number on your card like I did if you have any doubts, there are mixed reviews on the internet regarding this number but i was assured by Natwest that the number is genuine. Hope this helps!
Ignore the ignorant fools posting as Anon. This is genuine. It is the Natwest Fraud Prevention Dept who wish to contact the customer to verify some recent transactions. They do not ask for anything other than a couple characters from your date of birth and the last part of your postcode. They will then tell you about some recent transactions and ask if they are genuine. No more, no less.
The reason for some to think this is a scam is that the caller id shows as +84 53 560020 on some phones. This appears to be a Vietnam international code but, in reality, it is a UK 0845 number with the leading zero stripped off.
----THIS IS A SCAM----
Furthermore, here is the address of the people who are dialing this number and or spoofing it.
29 Williams Ave, Spring Valley, NY, USA
----THIS IS A SCAM----
Just got a message from this number at 8:47PM AUG - from "Natwest Automated Fraud Prevention Service".
SCAM! Ignore the emails below, anyone can write on these blog reports. I have done some extensive research and found the number to be a scam I will relate below why:-
1. There is no UK based 24 Hour bank account fraud prevention it closes at 8PM.
2. There is no automated fraud account service, asking you to type your bank account details in. This is handled by a security specialist at Natwest Bank.
3. The number is dialing out of a non UK based call spoofing address, namely a ( +845 ) 356 ... , after some reverse call investigation this is a US based number dailing from the Spring Valley area of New York state.
++++PLEASE ignore this number and any future phone calls from a bank fraud line, if you have any doubts log onto www.natwest.com and go to the fraud line numbers. I have been scammed by this sort of call before so BEWARE++++
I hope this helps everyone.
I received this call - didn't trust it so I phoned Natwest from a trusted number and turns out the Natwest fraud department did want to speak to me (someone has cloned my card) - don't ignore - if suspicious just call Natwest from a number you trust and ask to be put through to the Fraud department
June 27, 2010 : Have received 5 calls(voice mail) from this in 2 days. I called Natwest and there is NO fraud activity on my account and they said this is NOT one of their numbers. This is a sophisticated fraud, which includes the comments from people below saying that they were saved by the call. Don't worry. If you receive this call, then call Natwest on the number on the credit card and ask to be connected to fraud prevention and ask them if there is a problem on your account and also tell them the number.
That way you can be sure for yourself. As a general rule, do not accept at face value any call from Natwest, any other bank or American Express when they ask for information to verify your identity. It is a hassle, but just say: "I am sorry; I cannot verify your identity either so I will call the fraud department directly. Thank you." Then hang up and call the number on the card (not the number they give you over the phone. This is the only way to certainly avoid identity theft.
It is natwest. If you don't want to answer/return call ring customer services. They will be able to tell you if something has been flagged and then put you through to the Fraud department.
Definitely IS NatWest, I used my card abroad and it called to check it wasn't fraud. My card wouldn't work until i followed the instructions, then it was fine.
This number (084-535-60020
) is deffinately genuine. It is Natwest's fraud department who helped stop over £500 of cash withdrawels by someone in South Africa who had stolen the card details.
ring now i have had missed calls just checked my bank account and £200.00 has been used on the internet!
I have had several missed calls from this number, on anumber of occasions in the last 6 months or so, and was suspicious the first time. Eventually I called back, and the automated voice told me that my card had been blocked, and there was suspected fraudulent use of my account. I then hung up, and went to try and withdraw cash from an ATM. I was unable to do so, as my card HAD been blocked! So I phoned this number back to unblock my card. They don't ask for bank account number, card number or anything like that, just some things like date of birth to confirm who you are, and then they tell you the last 5 withdrawals from your account and ask you to confrim that they are genuine. If you are still concerned, phone Natwest on the fraud prevention number on their website and ask them.
i got this too and am going to phone natwest on another genuine number as i dont know who this is
the same happened to me. It asked me to confirm my date of birth. Actually, I have not answered and I do not know if it was a fraud or not!!
Just called natwest customer services and was told the number is genuine. Someone has been taking money out of my account in Canada.
I get this call every time I go away to somewhere slightly out of the ordinary - normally occurs within 30 seconds of trying to make a cash withdrawal or other transaction. Can't use my card until I answer it - so it is definitely genuine.
Hats off to Natwest for protecting my account to this degree, I am impressed, even though it is slightly annoying.
I was suspicious so called natwest directly from a number on there website (not the number left in the message), they put me through to the fraud center and it turns out someone had been using my card details abroad. I would suggest that others that are suspicious call natwest directly using a known good number from there website (not from a post on this site or from the number) instead of ignoring it so they can be sure who the are talking to.

THE CALL IS GENUINE!
I called the customer service of Natwest and they confirmed that there was a fraud flag in my card. They then passed me to the fraud department where they told me that there were two attempts for £40 transactions in ... Jamaica! I was in UK and have never been in Jamaica!!!
Luckily the transactions were canceled (already that is, not because I called the customer service) but calling them allowed me to cancel also my debit card and prevent any further attempts.
I SUGGEST EITHER TO ANSWER THE CALL, or CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE IMMEDIATELY!
THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER IS: 0845-300-3983
I was called 5 times today but thought it was dodgy. Then my card was refused and I found out that it really was the Natwest! The fraud team wanted to speak to me about some debits on my account-everything was fine but I did tell them that automated calls are a bit dodgy!
I also had an automated call from the so called fraud team from this number and believed it to be a scam, after contacting natwest through a different number, i was reassured it was genuine and the issues the fraud team were contacting me about have now been resoveld, all i can say is dont ignore these calls, but to be on the safe side, call your bank via a different number, one of its 24hr lines, (dont leave it until tommorow do it now!)and let them connect you to the fraud team.
Don't ignore these calls! I received one on Saturday morning and thought it was a scam. I called Nat West, who transferred me
to the Anti Fraud Team, where I was told that my card had been cloned and was being used in the USA to withdraw money. The team
cancelled the card immediately. I was told that they would probably have emptied my bank account had I not followed this up. I was
very impressed with this service, and also with the Anti Fraud Team at Nat West, particularly Kay who really was amazingly efficient.
i had my suspicions but this is a genuine service from natwest.
had automated message today. rang natwest via another number from website and after normal security check it became clear card had been cloned and was being used overseas.
if in doubt phone the bank on one of the numbers from their website or directory enquiry service. don't ignore it. this is natwest trying to protect itself [your money comes a distant second] from fraud. they need your co-operation. not all banks are so forward thinking. trust me.
Had a miss call called and an Olga requested my bank details what!!!?
I said do not be stupid, Olga then claimed I should speak with my own bank if I did not want to speak to her!!!
Female called four times asking for person named Rosemary. I lived at this address and with the same for two or three years and person I purchased home from was not named Rosemary either. I keep hanging up
HAD 3 CALLS TODAY FROM THIS NUMBER. APPARANTLY MY ACCOUNT HAD BEEN COMPROMISED AND SOMEONE HAD BEEN TRYING TO TAKE MONEY OUT IT CANADA. VERY SUSPICIOUS SO RANG NATWEST NUMBER THAT IS ON BANK STATEMENTS AND THEY DID SECURITY CHECKS THAT COULD NOT COMPROMISE MY ACCOUNT. THEY CONFIRMED THAT THIS IS GENUINE !! ALSO VERY CONCERNED THAT PEOPLE ARE USING A WEBSITE TO MAKE OUT THAT IT IS DODGY. ANSWER IS: RING NATWEST DIRECT, I DID AND AM VERY GLAD I DID SO.
i agree, it's ridiculous. i thought it was a scam so did nothing, apparently someone has now taken hundreds of dollars out in australia.
This is actually genuine. It is Nat west.........someone had been trying to withdraw money from my accouint in NY. im in the UK. have told nat west that their message sounds like a scam, they say they are passing back feedback.
Further to the above, took a deep breath and followed it all the way through. It's actually genuine. They asked for partial info (nothing that could compromise an account) and I was put through to NatWest Group Security and Fraud who asked me about a recent order they thought was suspicious. All's well as far as I'm concerned. Although I did ask them to publicise this method of contacting to prevent us skeptics from hanging up immediately.
Just been called twice, one on my mobile and the other on a landline. They knew my name. I'm aware of similar scams so hung up immediately. I'll check to see if there's any difference in my phone credit if it happens again.
have received 5 calls so far but have never answered the phone to them, have just received a voicemail message that cuts off straight away. i'm interested, has anyone been charged for the call after answering the phone to this number?
received 2 automated calls from this number today. Very annoying!!! Think it's dodgy as if it's really something to do with Fruad and Crime, Natwest staffs would've contacted customer(s)in person, not by automated phone calls. Do not give out your personal details in this way!!! Always check with the bank before you give out personal details.
dodgy. Natwest say that it is not a number used by their fraud team. Don't bite!
They have called about 5 times today, the last few times it said number unavailable but the automated message said it was nat west fraud for a name of someone I havnt heard off, the last time I pressed any key to proceed as requested but it just hung up, best bet is trust no one, register with the Telephone Preference Service as well, i have but can take 1 month to activate, i hate these f*^%)n calls!
I got a call, message said it was for someone in our company (who left us months ago). It was an automated message asking that the person call the Natwest Fraud Dept on either 084-535-60020
7609. I am most certain that if the Fraud Dept was interested in an old employee of my company they would call personally and be stupid enough to use and automated service.
Said was Natwest Fraud. Rang Natwest direct from a number off the bank statement and said it was a correct number.
Was suspicious about number when it called. When I'm suspicious I let them speak 1st. The call lasted for about 40 seconds and there was no sound from their end. They could probably hear the radio in the background from me.
Called whilst I was on Hol so denied the call
defo not natwest - phoned branch and said no contact was required of me - con men - give them nothing!
claims to be fraud protection is it? don't whish to be called by a machine hung up.
automated phone call, claimed to be natwest fraud check, asked for Date of birth i was unsure if it was genuine so i hung up
