T-Mobile customers lately have been complaining about receiving text messages from a phone number 10476000000. After some intense inquiry with T-Mobile's third-tier support, who thankfully are not based in the Phillipines like first-tier support but rather in America, the answer to what these are and how to disable them has emerged.
They are alerts. They cost you money. In a normal world, you would be able to log into My T-Mobile to disable them. However when I tried that I encountered a problem.
The procedure is as follows:
First log in to My T-Mobile (register if you haven't already). Then go to the My Services menu and select Alerts.
This takes you either to a page at Infospace.com or sometimes it tries to go wipcore.t-mobile.com. For me, this always results in my being immediately logged out of My T-Mobile, preventing me from disabling the alerts which are costing me money.
Since trying to disable the alerts results in my getting automatically logged out of My T-Mobile, I realized there are really possible solutions: Either call up support and eventually reach someone who can give you a refund for lost minutes, which can take an hour, or ask to change the number. However the new number may have the same problem.
I called them up and reached Third-Tier support. The guy claimed he turned the feature off for me, yet I still occasionally gets these SMS messages. If it persists, even after T-Mobile says they turned it off, I will have to file a complaint with the FCC.
the full number is +10476000000. Why do I keep getting a message on my cell phone? Text message with no text. Looks as if there is an attachment, but that's impossible. They have been calling every day!
