The phone is ringing, and I don't recognize the number,
All Caller ID says is, "NAME UNAVAILABLE".
Please help me figure out who is calling and what they want

Now receiving one, and sometimes two calls per day. I have blocked this number, but they continue to call, abd the number is captured on my PC. Pain in the A--!!!
Keep getting calls from these fools. They say they are trying to save me money on my electric bill. As if they knew what I was paying, and they were going to do better. Just another upstart little vendor trying to scam people into signing up. And since when did it become legal to solicit new business from people who have never done business with you before?
I mean, I've told them previously I'm not interested, and not to call anymore. What can they expect to accomplish by continuing to call, and in violation of federal laws? You piss me off, and still expect me to come aboard as a new customer? The world is truly laden with fools!
Ring, hang up, no message. 4 calls this week. WTF?
Ring, hang up, no message.
Truly Evil! Have been getting 2 to 3 calls per day from this caller. The caller ID always reads "Toll Free Call." I normally always screen my calls, because I hate to disturb what I'm doing, then to stand there like an idiot saying: "Hello? Hello? Hello?" Know what I mean? But this morning the phone next to my bed rang, and I recognized the number. So I answered it, (normally there is no one on the line - "autodialers be damned!) and got some guy asking for me, and when I said: "Who is calling?" - he answered with: "This is Your Insurance Request..." I told the idiot that filling out a form online did not, in my humble opinion, "establish a business relationship" which would allow him to call me 2 to 3 times a day, day in and day out! I instructed him to cease and desist, and cursed his offspring for seven generations!!
OK, first - it is now illegal to 'spoof' the CID system by showing ANYTHING other than the legitimate name of the caller or business. It is now illegal to show: Anonymous, Toll Free Caller, etc. Check the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, and you will find references to the law, which went into effect about 6 months or so ago.
Second, I filled out one of those forms requesting competing auto insurance quotes about 3 months ago. BIG MISTAKE! As I said, a request for information, in my opinion, does not empower telemarketers to violate my peace forever. Even if the law says that it DOES, they must stop when I say "STOP!" I mean, if you get everybody you're calling really pissed off at you, how can you possibly think that any one of those people would ever buy anything from you? That's why they are idiots. If they think they will somehow get any further personal information, they are just as wrong!
Third, I'm so very happy that my taxes have gone to pay the members of congress who worked so diligently to pass the "Do Not Call" Registry into law. So What? I'm registered, I have filed numerous complaints, and the end result is that the deficiencies in the legislation have done nothing more than to place calling lists in the hands of nefarious telemarketers, and annoy the goldbricks at the Federal Trade Commision to the point where they no longer accept, or act upon, those complaints?
So we're really back to square one. Oh Joy!!
Been getting 2-3 calls per day from this caller. I screen all calls now. Do not answer unless I know the number. This caller hangs up as soon as they are requested to leave a message by my machine. Waking me up at 8:00 AM Sunday morning, I unconsciously reached for the phone, and was met by a cheery voice telling me they were calling about the auto insurance quote I requested 3 months ago. WTF is wrong with people? What makes them think filling out a form online establishes a 'lifetime' business relationship, giving them the right to spoof the identity of their calls, disturbing my sleep, and trying to sell me insurance 3 months after I bought a policy? I'm so very happy that our industrious, hard-working congressmen spent so much time discussing and legislating the "DO NOT CALL" Registry! CRAP! THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW!!!
Third call from this number in 2 days. First report. Whatever happened to the federal legislation that made it illegal to 'spoof' telephone numbers?
Ask me how pleased I am that our exalted United States Congress took time from their oh-so-busy vacation schedule a few years ago to pass national legislation titled the "Do Not Call Registry." It has, from very shortly after its' inception been completely ineffective, and we taxpayers have once again paid our legislators to promulgate new legislation for the benefit of We The People....
Now anyone who wants to, simply couches his sales pitch as a "political survey" (Oh, and by the way - 'How about a free trip to the Bahamas?')
I feel very badly for the poor folks who are led to the breaking point, and who then exact their revenge on a public that the Obama-nauts wish increasingly to disarm, but one must stop and ask: "Is there any wonder why this happens?"
{End of my rant for the day}
I'm sure that the legit arm of the March Of Dimes doesn't seek to solicit funds for the children repeatedly before 8AM. This is their 5th Attempt! Anyone care to guess how much they will be likely to receive on their 7th or 8th call?
Caller was looking for someone to whom I rented my condo in 1981-1986. Told them not to call again.
Called me at home at 8:13AM!!! I'm disabled, and don't usually arise till later. But in this case, I immediately called the number on the caller ID, got a woman, and asked her, "Who the hell do you think you are...calling me this early in the morning to attempt to collect a dubious debt?" She started reading me some drivel, which I did not allow her to finish, saying instead, "I have no idea what debt you are attempting to collect, (True - I am unaware of owing anything to anyone.) but you have just decided the issue. You can call me until hell freezes over, and you'll never see a cent - or another reponse!" The G-D Damned Nerve! this situation cries out for corrective legislation!
Keeps calling when I'm out. Never leaves a message.
Believe this to be a bill collector trying to collect a debt (paid) which is 12 years old.
This number used to be from Portfolio Recovery Assoc., or simply "Unknown Caller".
Illegal donation solicitation with Caller ID spoofed to "Toll Free Call"
Now receiving two to three calls per day. Call is automatically blocked, and number & time of call recorded. There must be a way to stop this....
