debt collector saying something about having a wrong address for delivering certified mail to and needing the right address for my wife. I told him "good luck with that" and hung up:-)
Remember, there is a Statute of Limitations on debt collection, in my state 3 years, after that they can try court but the case will be dismissed, and if you did pay it would add additional years to a bad credit report that you already have.
caller asked for someone with a similar last name to mine and left a case number for pending legal action, called me, my sons house, and my neices house looking for this person. sounds like a phishing scam to me.
A man who Identified himself as Edward Brown Investigator for Ruben & Yates Law Firm called about pending legal action against me for a debt I had never heard of. I asked him to provide me with any documentation showing my signature agreeing to pay this and he got upset, started calling me names, and then hung up. He called back 2 minutes later and hung up real hard,lol.
Called saying it was an important legal matter for someone that does not live here and never has, but has a similar last name. Left message saying to call back and ask for Mark Smith with a long reference number. I erased it this time, but if called again will respond.

same as chris except I have received shipment 5 days before I received call that they were being shipped,lol

Left message giving name of person they were leaving message for and said to delete if not that person, which I am not but it's my phone so I listened, also stated that they were a collection agency attempting to collect a debt and any information obtained would be used for that purpose.
