Who Called Us

The phone is ringing, and I don't recognize the number,
All Caller ID says is, "NAME UNAVAILABLE".
Please help me figure out who is calling and what they want

These idiots call, let it ring 2 - 3 times, and then hang up. What's the point of wasting my time and theirs? Haven't tried calling them back. I wish Vonage had a way to start blocking these kinds of calls. Whoever invents that will become VERY rich. :)

It's strange because the CID for this number on the site here shows Cingular wireless, but it sounded like a woman making a personal call and she said, "Sorry must have the wrong number..." after there was a long period of silence before even answering me. Then the same number showed in the CID window from a moment later and again, it was a wrong number??? So I'm not sure what happened!

This one just said "Wireless Caller" which doesn't tell us anything, so again, ignored & they left no message as expected. :-P

Yep, those rats *almost* made me answer that call because it said "US Government" but yet I knew it was a local Lake City, FL. prefix and area code so I just ignored it and of course, they did NOT leave a message. Very UNcool of Bell South!

I looked this up on 800notes.com and it helped me figure out the answer to who it was. Here's what the poster wrote: Its an invitation from Citibank to get a bonus credit, if you cut your balance in half in two months.

I remember getting that robo-call, and it took the 'robot' twice to figure out that I pushed the button to indicate I was who they were calling. The offer is sort of good for immediate cash, but it ends up with you having a lower credit limit with them on your card and you can't default or you lose the bonus - you also lose the bonus cash if you get credit counseling, etc.

These folks are persistent! I've gotten about 7 calls in the past 30 days and they never leave a message. Why can't they take a hint (ie: I see their number on the caller ID and I don't want to talk or I'd pick up!) You'd think they would mark someone off after 3 - 4 months of them not answering... just my 2cents

I just googled them and the link to the BBB brought up this: This charity does not meet one or more of the 20 standards for Charity Accountability. They didn't meet hardly ANY of the charity accountability standards! charityreports.bbb.org

Nina - now THAT is funny!! :)

I wrote the "Wondering" comment below before I joined this cool site - but wanted to add that if you answer the phone, they are definitely trying to get your money to sign up for their 'debt solution' and again, I urge you NOT to do it unless you google them for complaints first (then you definitely won't do it!). You can learn how to do this type thing all on your own without forking out a fortune - just search for debt settlement ebook or similar terms.

They wanted permission to mail me a small donation envelope for a "senior rate" of $12.50 AFTER I told the woman I was not currently employed. The reason was for children with leukemia - and my advice is that if anyone wants to donate to help those precious kids, I'd not give to an org I've never heard of, but rather would choose to donate to St. Jude to help all the kids suffering with cancer.
