The phone is ringing, and I don't recognize the number,
All Caller ID says is, "NAME UNAVAILABLE".
Please help me figure out who is calling and what they want

Another one of those consolidate your credit cards. I've pushed '3' a number of times. This should have, according to the recording, removed my number from their calling list. OK so that may be true. All the calls have a different number. FTC says it is Roy M. Cox, Jr and several companies he controls. They are operating in Panama, Hungary, Argentina, and the Republic of Seychelles. The DOJ has filed complaints in the District Court for the Central District of California on 12/12/11. So far no action that I know of. Some of his companies are Castle Rock Capital Management, Capital Solutions Group S.A., and Transfers Argentina S.A. DON'T do business with any of them!
I also have reported this outfit to the FTC, the FCC, and the PA Attorney General. I gave exact dates and times from my computer log of phone calls. I even put all the calls, etc., together in a letter in December 2011 for all the calls that I received (in addition to filling out the on-line forms individually on the day of the call). I did receive a letter from the PA AG. Basically it said "thanks, but no thanks - I'm not interested".
To bad the owner of this web site doesn't forward the info to the FCC and FTC. Maybe that would help.
Any how this number has been added to my computer program that does my phone answering when needed (PhoneTray Free) and it will answer this number in the future.
Recorded message from the Reading Medical Center in West Reading, PA about a nurses conference.
ID showed out of area although it is a local number. Female voice on the other end said "You have one message" and then a recording played an advertisment for a local business. This number has now been placed in the automatic answering free software "PhoneTrayFree". I will not answer that number again, the computer will with my pre-recorded message.
Affordable health care for everyone now available; medical bills are no 1 reason for filing bankruptcy in America, dial "1" to speak to a rep about affordable hcare, dial "2" to opt out.
Number added to my "PhoneTray" automatic answering machine computer program.
Answer a few short questions in 30 seconds and you will win a cruise to the Bahamas.
When's the FTC, FCC, or Congress gonna get off there asses and do something about these calls?
Recording from 'Jennifer' that I've been selected for a survey on the National Debt. I hung up and placed the number in my automatic answering program 'PhoneTrayFree'. I'll not be bothered by that number again.
Finally got an 'friendly representative' after pressing '1'. Others were not 'friendly' when they called. Anyhow 'Reggie' told me that they had no control over what number was being used or who was being called because Equifax's computers did the dialing. Bull crap! He put me in the 'do not call' list again - as other 'friendly reps' did when they called.
And this along with the 20 or so previous calls were my 'final' chance to take care of my credit.
Caller said he was from TV Guide. Addressed me by name and asked for my wife by name. I said she was not available and thanked me, again using my first name, and hung up. Didn't want to talk to me. The h--- with TV Guide.
Further information on the credit card calls - I've also logged the following numbers that they've used to call me:
503-468-5336
661-388-1670
666-226-7788
701-217-1003
772-224-3390
858-225-8393
I guess when they get enough complaints at one number they just sign on with another phone company.
Too bad the FCC or some other office doesn't read 'whocalled.us'
And now that number is on my 'Do not answer' list. Added it into my FREE program 'Phone Tray'. I'll let the computer answer the phone with the phone company warble and "that number has been disconnected".
Consolidate your credit card - press 1 for a friendly operator. I pressed 1 and talked to Jaquolin. Told her that this was the second or third time I asked to be put on their 'do not call' list and if I received another call they would be reported to the FCC. She promptly hung up on me.
DNC just wants to ask a couple of questions. I hung up and added the number to my software program "Phone Tray" which will now answer calls from that number.
No one on line - I dialed the number and got a recording that if I pressed '1' I could have my number removed from their calling list. I did so and evidently THEY don't have caller id. I had to enter my 10 digit phone number. I hope it works.
Well, I got two more calls from this guy/number today. I guess they didn't remove my number. Time to report them to the FCC.
I waited till the end - 'Push 1 for a friendly operator'. I pushed '1' got a voice asking if I wanted to change my credit card with a balance of at least $3000. I replied - "Are you the friendly operator" - he hung up. I called back - got a recording to push '1' to remove my number from their list. I did so. We'll see what happens.
Number added to software "PhoneTray" - Won't be bothered with them again.
Waited through the whole recorded message, pressed "1" to talk to some one, told him I was tired of these damn phone calls and to take my number of the list. He said he would do that. I thanked him - said goodbye and hung up. This number is now in my computer software "PhoneTray". Let my computer answer it next time.
Spoke in Spanish - I said "what?" - she said "do you speak spanish" - I said "no" - She said "I'm sorry I dialed a wrong number" - I hung up.
I should have said "No - do you speak Hungarian?"
Wanted to lower my credit card rates. Hung up and added number to my computer program PhoneTray. Now they'll get a 'number had been disconnected' message.
Caller said 'Alo' I replied 'Alo' and she broke out in Spanish. Just what I needed - I said "Sayonara'.
No one on end of line. Said 'Hello' a couple of times - no one replied. Hung up phone
Another message about lowering my credit card interest rates. I still don't have credit card interest. All bills paid when due.
And another number added to my computer answering software "PhoneTray".
My last chance to reduce my credit card interest. I have not responded to several mailings. Since I don't pay any interest on my credit card balances I ignored the call and added it to my computer software "PhoneTray". No more calls will ring my phone from THAT number.
Pennsylvania political call.
No one on the line when I answered. On call back I got "Your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check your directory....." etc.
Recording with a woman's voice. Wanted to lower my credit card rates. I hung up and added the number to my computers PHONETRAY program. Let 'em talk to the computer the next time they call.
Another number added into my PhoneTrayFree software. Won't have to answer that number again.
Calling from the Democratic Party - Got as far as "As you know election is right around the corner" - That's when I hung up and added the number to the 'PhoneTray' program. No more calls from this number will get through.
Someone taking a survey on conditions in my area. Hung up. Put the number in my computer software program "PhoneTray" which will now answer this number with a prerecorded messages saying I don't participate in surveys and make sure my number is on their do no call list because the next call will be reported to the FCC.
From the "Daily Freeman" Hudson, NY.
KINGSTON — The Ulster County Consumer Fraud Bureau is warning residents about a telephone scam where consumers are being contacted regarding sales of alarm systems and smoke detectors.
The callers are asking consumers about their current security and/or alarm systems, then asked for financial information.
The telephone number where the calls originate from is (401) 401-0125, which according to Rhode Island State Police, is a “spoofed” number that could be coming from anywhere.
The scam appears to be occurring around the country.
Residents who see that number on their caller identification screen are asked to ignore it.
The Consumer Fraud Bureau can be reached at (845) 340-3260 for questions or further information.
Wanted to know how I like the Rachael Ray Magazine.
Caller (recorded) said: "Hello, this is Governor Tom Ridge..." at that point I hung up and added the number to my software program "PhoneTray - Free". It will answer my phone the next time that CID number calls me.
Doing a public service survey. Added to my PhoneTray Software. I won't be bothered again!
I was asked to 'vote for Pike for Congress'.
Another one added to the PhoneTrayFree software program.
Called wanted me to mail out requests to my neighbors for the Heart Fund. I declined, he continued on with reasons why I should. I hung up and added the number to my computer automated answering system (PhoneFree).
Checkout a program called PhoneTrayFree (it's free). All you need is a voice modem with caller ID. phonetray.com
Works great on these unwanted calls!
Answered call - heard much backgound talking and then it was disconnected.
Call back give "I'm sorry but the number you reached is not in service".
message on my answering machine said it was James xxxxx from Fidelity calling about my 401K and to call back at 877-450-4015.
A call to Fidelity at their 1-800 number verified that this call came from an authorized agent in Covington, Kentucky. Sure wish these companies would use Caller ID correctly and not hide both their calling number and number to call from internet phone book lookups. It'd save us and them a lot of time and money.
Yep, another number added to my auto-computer answering machine (PhoneTray Free software).
Sent the president of the company e-mail - he's out of town - but his e-mail message back does give his cell phone number. Wanna contact him and ask him to remove your number from his company's calling list? Here's the information from bwelch@sirsinc.com :
"I am currently out of the office. I will return on Monday August 31st. In my absence if you need to reach someone in the office please contact Chris Ohlinger or Gary Heuser. If you need to contact me please call my cell phone at 513-284-6730".

Conducting a research on buying habits. Wants me to take a survey. Hung up and added the number to my PhoneTray Free program. Computer will now answer all calls from that number with a "The number you have dialed is no longer is service" message.
Looking for a better interest rate? Push 1 to talk to a rep. I did - no one responded - hung up after one minute.
A political call.
Third time that I've called back and had them put me on their do-not-call list. It doesn't seem to work. They have now been reported to the FCC:
fcc.gov
and the Federal Trade Commission via the Do-Not-Call Registry page:
donotcall.gov
If everyone did the same maybe we could put these guys out of business via fines.
I called the number back - autoanswer said to press "1" to get on their "Do Not Call List". I did, the machine said my number has been put on their list. Now I sit and wait. Next call will be reported again to the FCC via telephone.
Still calling - even after complaining to the FCC. What's a person to do?
Recorded message. This number continues to call even after I filed a complaint with the FCC. Help shut them down - file a complaint with the FCC at:
fcc.gov
Selling carpet cleaning. Added to my computer phone manager "PhoneTrayFree". Computer will answer this number in the future.
Another one from Governor Ed Rendell - Here's some info on these and other calls.
Caller Identification (ID)
If you have caller ID, a telemarketer is required to transmit or display its phone number and, if available, its name or the name and phone number of the company for which it is selling products. The display must include a phone number that you can call during regular business hours to ask that the company no longer call you. This rule applies even if you have an EBR with the company, and even if you have not registered your home phone number(s) on the national Do-Not-Call list. Before these rules took effect, the words “private,” “out of area,” or “unavailable” might have appeared on the Caller ID display.
What You Can Do
The FCC can issue warning citations and impose fines against companies violating or suspected of violating the do-not-call rules, but does not award individual damages. If you receive a telephone solicitation that you think violates any of these rules, you can file a complaint with the FCC. There is no charge for filing a complaint. You can file your complaint using an on-line complaint form found at esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm. You can also file your complaint with the FCC’s Consumer Center by e-mailing fccinfo@fcc.gov; calling 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322) voice or 1-888-TELL-FCC (1-888-835-5322) TTY; faxing 1-866-418-0232
Another number added to PhoneTray Free program. My computer will answer calls from that number in the future.
Recorded message from Governor Ed Rendell wanting us to vote for the 'clean water act'. (Pennsylvania Governor)
Number added to my PhoneTray (FREE) computer program automatic answering system.
Nobody there - the line was quiet. Mis-dialed number? Don't think so. Not from a 'free' number.
It was a recorded message from Governor Ed Rendell. How do they get away with using non-existent numbers? This should definitely be illegal! Anyhow the number has been added to my software PhoneTray Free. Computer will answer it next time.
Another one added to PhoneTray Free.
John McCain asking for my vote as a veteran. Another number added to "PhoneTray" Free edition.
They said they were (something) for life. Anyhow, that number is now in my auto-answering program (PhoneTray FREE)on my computer. They will get a recorded message.
Answered, but no one on other end. This number has been entered into my auto-answering software PhoneTray Free and will be answered by the computer in the future.
They get the beep-beep-beep "the number you have dialed or is no longer in service" message from PhoneTray Free software. Great program for screening calls.
Number issued by Aerial Communications
Number is located: TAMPA, Florida, USA
The number is now in my ZAPPED list of PhoneTray Free.
Auto answer and hang up by my computer.
Number located in COVINGTON, Kentucky, USA and issued by Time Warner Communications Axs Of Cincinnati, OH.
Caller wanted us to do a survey. We said "No, Thank you" and hung up. I then added the number to my PhoneTray Free program for the computer to disregard on future calls.
No one on line when I answered. Caller ID showed only the phone number and "Virginia".
This number is now on MY "Do Not Answer Calls From This Number" list via PhoneTray Free.
ex-senator Woffard (?) soliciting votes for (?). Don't know cause I hung up before get said who.
Reverse look-up shows the number was assigned by Alltel Communications Inc.
Complain to them at alltel@custhelp.com
give them the number (803)667-4084 date and time of call.
Although caller ID only showed the phone number - a reverse lookup showed that the number belonged to:
Alltel Communications, Inc., in COLUMBIA, South Carolina, USA.
This number is now in the 'Privacy Manager' of my phone screening software "Phone Tray Free". It will be automatically answered next time by my computer on one ring.
Answered - no one responded - hung up.
Entered number into the "Phone Tray Free" program. Won't hear from them again!
Internet search shows it's from an Elect Hillary Clinton outfit.
Search shows:
(484) 680-8286 is a cell phone based in Philadelphia, PA
The registered service provider is New Cingular Wireless Pcs, Llc**.
Detailed listing information is not available.
Said something about Police League. I said "No, thanks" and hung up.
Call was automated. Recording said it was Rite-Aid, gave a name and asked if it was correct, then asked for birth date. That's when I hung up and called our local Rite-Aid. The pharmacist there said that it was not their store that called.
A recorded message from Tom Ridge asking us to vote for.......... (That's when I hung up)
A recorded message from Tom Ridge asking for our vote for.............
(I hung up at this time).
Recorded message from Tom Ridge asking for our vote for.......... (I hung it up at that point).
Tom Ridge recorded message asking for us to vote for........ (I hung up at that time).
No one there. Actually a hang up when I answered after two rings.
Keeps calling - no one there. CID just gives the number and the word "Georgia". I knew a girl once named Georgia, but I'm sure it ain't her!
Caller stated they were soliciting funds for the Pennsylvania Association of State Troopers. Probably a scam. What makes me think so? Hint @1 - Pennsylvania never called the State boys "Troopers", it was and as far as I know always "Pennsylvania State Police". Hint #2 - Phone call originated in Texas. There are plenty of companies in PA doing solicitation, no need to go to Texas.
