I receive a call at least once daily and when I answer there is no reply but my cell phone immediately starts ringing from the same caller. I've tried calling the number back and get a message to leave a number and they will call back. I don't think I have to worry about the call back thing. I'm on the national and state do not call list but that is no deterrent for these pest.

The only started after I went into was DeMontrond and all I gave them was my home phone. I refused to give out my cell phone number. One more bad experience with this dealership.

July 22nd, 2013 Tate is a liar TN

Guys DO NOT use the number TATE is telling us to use for the so called "Do not call list" Google the number. He is a scammer as well. I found this comment on many other sites as well. Just look at whycallme.com and others. Tate you need to get a REAL job!! Lazy a**hole!!

July 19th, 2013 Tate CA

Without any helpful searches, I expanded further and found this comment that was effective in stopping these calls; ...It's a do not call service for a small number of companies that call consumers that want to minimize complaints and save time not calling people who don't want to be called. All you need to do is call 866-246-7196 and give them the caller's phone number to verify it's on their list and the receiving phone number to add to the do not call list.

July 19th, 2013 Nellie MS

I got a missed call from this number, no message was left. I called it back and it said, HELLO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE PLACED ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST PRESS 1. then it just kept repeating. I pressed 1 and it said it would take 48 hours to take affect. Other websites say that it is a spam call about vehicle warranty expiring (which I know I do not have)

July 19th, 2013 eileen IL

I called number back and got a message " Hello and thank you for calling. If you liked to be placed on a do not call list, press 1 now" I did nothing and the same msg was repeated over and over , never identified themselves and then disconnected.

July 19th, 2013 Anon in DC VA

I got a call from this number on my work phone. I listened to the robo message about "your vehicle warranty is about to expire. act now to save yourself spending money on costly repairs." It then asked me to press 1 to speak to an operator, so being curious, I did. Then the message told me to "stay by my phone, as the next available representative would call me back." A little while later I got a call from a number in Boston. When I started asking questions about what vehicle warranty they were calling about specifically, he said "for the vehicle aged between the years of 2003 - 2012." I told him that didn't narrow it down for me and he hung up. This is a phishing scam (though I don't know what they want) and they need to be stopped.

Calls themself "Card services", "Card member services", and a slew of other false names trying to lure an unsuspecting fool. "Lower your interest rates", "There are no problems with your account", and a number of other language used. Same people have called cell over 500 times, using different numbers every week. Have reported to Wisconsin and Federal "do not call" admins as violators each time. Really doubt it'll do any good since it could very well be a falsified caller ID.

These idiots just don't give up with their credit card scam. I've pushed the number asking them to stop calling and they still call. I receive called at least once a week from this number. I have both of my phone numbers on the "Do Not Call" list and renew the list every 90 days. Because I still continue to receive telemarketer calls. Now I am also receiving call from other countries.
Doesn't the Do not call list work? How do I make an official complaint? Will it honestly do any good? What steps do I need to follow through to ensure my phone numbers will not land on the cross reference book the telemarketers use or their computers? They place false numbers, names and company names on their Id. Is there a law that forbids such misrepresentation? Who do I talk to about this. I'm tired of the nuance and harassment. Not to mention they are rude.... If a person has a private number, how is it these people get their hands on it? No, I do not give my phone number out to anyone I don't want to have it. I do not fill in contest, or of any kind of solicitation. If the businesses I do business with sell my information what can I do about it?

October 16th, 2012 DMV MN

I have talked to two people, whom I reached by pressing "1". When I asked them to please remove me from the call list they said there was nothing they could do. They refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor and then hung up on me.

Or else what, Nikki? You'll make another cranky post here? You and Sue and Francie and Theo need first to READ .. BEFORE .. YOU .. POST! The following facts have been stated in this thread before:

- Your callers do not read, manage, or control this web page.
- Even if the creeps suddenly wanted to quit calling you, nothing about this site magically reveals which phone numbers they are to avoid.
- The credit reprice offers come from criminals who hide behind shell corporations, telco service resellers, and spoofed numbers to evade prosecution.
- Jumping and whining about your ''Do Not Call'' registrations is futile. Every functioning telephone number is now on a virtual ''Do Not Care'' list!

If you want action, file complaints with the FTC, attorneys general, and the service providers the scammers use. No, you won't get fast personal service. You will add to a swell of reports which will burst in the scammers' faces once they are cornered like those in the past three years. If you want to throw tantrums but add nothing useful to our collective intelligence, pour it in your own notebook and stop littering these database sites.

October 16th, 2012 Sue

I haven't had a call from these clowns in a week! What I did to prevent these calls: a week ago, I posted that pretended to be a local dispatcher (I used the same county I live in on the outside chance they have my address), and I warned the Mensa member I was speaking with that its a federal offense to call 911 without an emergency. I tried to get more information out of him to perhaps provide the FTC with items they could follow up on, but he hung up on that. But I haven't had a call since! This works!

If you're concerned about posing as an officer, you're actually posing as a dispatcher. No federal offenses for you!

Seek action against phone scams like Card Services. Sign Resa's petition.

The FTC is having Robocall Summit on October 18th. For more info go to:

What To Do When You Get an Illegal Robocall; www.ftc.gov
1. Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list.
2. Consider blocking the number
3. Report it at www.fcc.gov
4. Report it at www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
Register your phone numbers online at www.donotcall.gov or call (888) 382-1222 (must call from # you want removed).

1. This problem is mostly in the FTC's backyard.
2. The Commissions ARE doing something if you bother to find out.
3. You cannot expect regulators to drop everything and cure your personal problem.
4. None of the above has ever been a secret.

Here's the word on the last few FTC lawsuits against credit reprice scammers, and a gang in Atlanta facing prison time:

FTC Action Puts Robocallers Out of the Telemarketing Business

FTC Shuts Down Robocallers Who Claimed to Reduce Credit Card Interest Rates

FTC Charges Telemarketers with Illegal Robocalling

Adams Sentenced To Over 17 Years In Prison For Multi-Million Dollar Telemarketing Fraud Scheme

Law enforcement is not enough, as cheap VOIP service and Caller ID spoofing were not available as tools of concealment to phone scammers when the DNC program was established. The FTC is well aware of this, and will be inviting ideas for a technological defense to be aired at summit next week, which was announced in July.

Agency Announces Robocall Summit to be Held October 18 in Washington, DC

Those of you who come to these complaint sites by the dozen and throw tantrums about how ''duh gubment'' has failed you have obviously never endured legal process. The simplest movement can take weeks, and satisfaction can be months if not years away. Keep doing your part and report to the FTC and attorneys general and others with authority, and try to show some patience.

609-227-4849 Report calls to the FCC. This telephone number has been disconnected. The caller ID of the originating party is being spoofed and calls are NOT coming from the company that has been given that number. Your local service provider may have the ability to trace the records back and determine who is responsible for calls--the number behind the false caller ID. By reporting to the FCC in quantity, they will be able to investigate.

October 11th, 2012 JB CA

Same as everyone else. Calling to lower my credit card rates. I ask which credit card they are referring to and they hang up. Next time I ask to be taken off their list and before I finish my sentence, they hang up. They call every other day. FCC, please make it stop!!

October 11th, 2012 Carol IA

The same daily call from yet another, different phone number. Damn it FCC DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ALREADY! I'm and millions of others, are tired of sending you complaints on every single number we get calls from. I've been on do not call registry since its inception. They are using up my time on my phone, calling at all hours... DO SOMETHING ALREADY! people are rude and vulgar parasites praying not only on the elderly and those that fall for scams easily, but on every single American that actually gets charged on their phones for these stupid calls! FCC STOP THEM!

I pressed "1" to speak with a representative, and ask them to "put me on your do not call list". The female caller replied, "We're calling you tomorrow. Get over it!" then hung up immediately.

Next time they call, I will again press "1", but I'll act slightly slow, or hard of hearing, and keep them on the phone as long as I can, to waste as much of their time as I can, and lower their call count and success rate.

Let's unite, to protect the innocent and gullible of the world.

October 11th, 2012 Resident47 RI

NDNCR member: The credit reprice scam is bigger than all of us. This year I've been referring to the work of intrepid bloggers who have done a lot of sleuthing to find the heads of the hydra. One kingpin has been named, but it's not clear he's the guy to serve a summons. Until we can hold the correct criminals by the throat with TCPA claims, we have to be content with spreading complaints to the FTC and attorneys general.

That WordPress blog I cited in late September also suggests reporting to the utility regulators in those Northwestern states where phone numbers controlled by the scammers are found. Based on complaint volume it's believed that a full quarter of the current illegal call traffic is the work of one company, Pacific Telecom. In August the PacTel public utility registration was yanked in Oregon, and North Dakota is poised to do the same this month. This is very similar to the email spam combat technique of sending complaints to an ''upstream provider'', in hopes of taking away the scammer's primary tools.

On WCU I've written about Paetec (or whatever it wants to call itself) in the past in connection with both illegal security system sales calls and a lengthy spam campaign run on this very site. It would hardly surprise me if Paetec is also pretty much a ''spam harbor''.

(4015580022) whocalled.us
(8604700041) whocalled.us

Just to be clear on this point: It should be plain by now that verbal demands and keypresses are not going to stop criminals with autodialers. Those false ''opt-out'' provisions are only there to create an illusion of legitimacy. Again in parallel to the email spam problem, the first thing any direct response tells the phone scammer is that yours is a functional phone number which a live person just might respond to again. That is how your phone numbers become commodities, shared with and sold off to other criminals.

October 10th, 2012 JT AL

I've been getting many calls from the 609-227-4849 number. I found this whocalledus website and saw a post that Said that PAETEC owned that number. I called their New Jersey office. 1-609-538-1818 and spoke to the nicest lady. She said they had recieved many complaints about the 609-227-4849 number and that it wasn't PAETEC calling but another company called Windstream. She said they just yesterday found the contact number for Windstream to give to people. The Windstream Number is 888-292-3827. I got a recorded message when I called but I just kept choosing the options I thought would take me to a live human until I got someone to talk to. I got Robert. I asked him to remove me from all their calling lists. We'll see what happens.

They have called me 20 times. Every time i ask to speak supervisor and they hang up.I have also told them about the attorney genneral in Minnesota signed a law about harassment from telemarketers and they hang up. Tried of these phone calls!!!!!!!

October 9th, 2012 Jennifer MN

I get these calls almost daily as well. Normally, I ignore them. Toda,y I tried a different tactic that I've heard has been effective with similar scams: I answered in a deep voice, "Hennepin County 911, what is your emergency?" A reply of "You serious?" came through. I proceeded to inform the Ph.D. candidate that it's a federal offense to call 911 without an emergency, and I asked for his name. He hung up without any response, and I am HOPING this works! If I don't receive a call in the next week, I will let you all know!

Concerned posted the following: This number is owned by PAETEC call their fraud department @ 866-925-9916, they have to remove you within 48 hours.

I called the toll free number and got an apparently new pre-recorded automtated message designed to prevent us from harrassing them. Guess they don't like receiving the same treatment they are dishing out to us!!! Jackalopes!

I followed some of their prompts after calling them a second time, the automated system hung up on me the first time, and found the following contact number for their New Jersey office. 1-609-538-1818. I guess now we call this number and tell them to tell their "customer" using the 609-227-4849 number to stop calling us!?!?!?!?!

What do you recommend we do now Resident47?? I ask because reading your inputs below it seems you may have more grasp on what options we have or do not have availiable to us for dealing with these nitwits.. Please post more soon!? Thanks!

October 8th, 2012 Ndncr member NM

These idiots call me at least once a month dispite my number being on the National Do Not Call Registry. The call is pre-recorded and apparently they have removed the option of pressing 1 to speak to a representative because I have not had the opportunity to speak to one so I can tell them they are violating federal law by calling me. So. I will just continue to file complaints with the registry and once I do get the actual mailing address for these morons I will send them a bill for burning up my cell phone with their illegal solicitation calls. Especially since I do not have a credit card.

October 8th, 2012 Brittney AZ

This number calls me all the time the last 3 times they've called I have pressed "1" to speak with a representative and it always sounds like the same lady and she always hangs up on me when I have said to take me off her calling list and the next time I asked what company she works for and she hung up again.

October 6th, 2012 George Minnich WA

Caller ID shows "Unnamed". I have received 4 calls in past month from "ANN" of Card Services. 3 0f 4 disconnected after I pushed "1". Last one this morning a female voice answered, When I said "this was 3rd call in 3 days" she disconnected before I could say more. I have filed formal complaint through my Congressman and he sent me a form to authorize FCC or FTC to review the records on my "Do not Call" filings for future action. With Congress in recess until after elections I don't anticipate timely action soon, if ever. But I'll keep filing DNC complaints

October 5th, 2012 Jeff P TX

167 calls from "Rachael" or "Ann" from over 2dozen 'caller id'. Yes I am keeping a log, and yes I have filed multiple complaints to the FTC. I heard on the news last week that they are finally going to look into this. during my latest call today, I talked to "John" and he actually gave me an address... in Albuquerque New Mexico. Interesting considering that the 609 area code is in New Jersey.

I am filing my fifth complaint with the FTC and another to the FBI. These people are crooks, and although I haven't fallen for their scam, I want these people shutdown once and for all.

If you are receiving these calls on your cell phone, and you are a Verizon or ATT customer, go Verizon or ATT websites and use the block caller feature to prevent multiple and future calls from these robocallers.

I have been successful in stopping second+ call backs from the same number by adding the number to blocked callers list on my cellular carrier’s website. With my account, I can only block 5 numbers with no charge, so I add blocked numbers over the oldest number I entered on the list.

By blocking the call on your service providers website, the next time the robocaller calls your number it gets a blocked message and a tone marking your number as a dead number, thus ending the callbacks from the robocaller.

I have been doing this successfully for almost a year now and have not gotten call backs from any numbers I have blocked.

I found a good solution. Use trapcall. Any time they call me, they now et a "sorry this number is dosconnected" message. It. Unblocks all anoonymous or blocked callers, so you can see their real number. You can blacklist a number, and never have them bother you again. It does cost 5$ a month. But its money well sent to know rachael gets a "disconnected" message for my number! I told all my friends to get this.

This number keeps calling. I normally don't answer it but today I talked to someone. When I asked them to quit calling me the guy got very rude and said "wow and you answered"and hung up on me. Um why should I have to screen calls on MY phone to avoid these people? For one thing I do not even own any credit cards! Anyone know who I can call? I tried calling the number back but it's busy!

Here is what I do for all calls that are like this one. I save the number in my phone and title it "DO NOT Answer". Each time it calls I just disregard! These people don't care and in case you haven't noticed...nobody is going to do anything about it! These people are scum and realize they are a little number on a big list. People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office and also file with:

If enough people keep complaining then maybe something will get done.

The calls are being made from outside the US; however, most of the call centers (where you actually talk to someone after pressing 1) are in the US and the companies making the money from the scam are owned by people in the US.

I have been receiving calls from this company (many spoofed numbers, but same company) several times a week for over a year. I have been on the Do Not Call list for over a year, and have filed dozens of complaints with them. I have filed several complaints with the FTC as well.

If you are getting calls, immediately after the call, dial *57. This will trace the call to the real caller's number. Your phone company won't give you the information, but if you file a police report for harassment, the police can get the info.

Meanwhile, make sure you're registered on the Do Not Call list (donotcall.gov) for your land line AND cell phone numbers.

Once registered, EVERY time you get a call, register a complaint through their website. When there are enough complaints, they might actually investigate.

Untill then, just keep pressing '1' to get to a person. Ask them to remove you from the list. They'll probably just hang up on you, but you still have to actually ask. Then go to donotcall.gov and register another complaint.

Keep at it!

I have requested to be added to the DO NOT CALL list if the option is available however they just start calling from another number. And sometimes when they answer and I start to tell them to add me to the DNC list they are rude and just hang up on me!

How do we get this stopped forever?

September 28th, 2012 Bernie CA

I've been receiving on my personal cell phone the same annoying calls with hangups as others are reporting. Called back and no answer, same as others. Soooo, I assigned the phone number to a new contact on my phone. I named the contact SPAM and then set the ringtone to "No Ring".

I also blocked the number from my work phone system, which, thankfully, has that option. For those getting these calls at work and don't have access to your phone system: email your IT department and have them block the number, as it should be fairly easy for work phone systems.

For those getting these calls on a landline that doesn't have blocking/ringtone choices, toss that old rotary phone (yes, I know it still works fine after fifty years) and get one that allows you to block numbers. :-)

Most of these calls are your own carriers, verizon, t-moble etc. They are rerouting the calls to everywhere. Now, let me see, WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT? Oh yes, minutes could play a big part on some, the rest are just idiots, wrong numbers and telemarketers. Lets not leave out the hackers, nothing is sacred, anymore or safe, NOTHING! I had Earthlink for years as my ISP then I got Verizon, bam more e-mails than I could handle. I had not give my e-mail to noone at that time, did not even have time to. So,along with your hook-ups, plans and everything else there goes your #. No call list thats where some probably gets it. There is basically NOTHING you can do except, ingore or cussem out when you feel like it! Thats what the world has come to. No privicy, cameras in more places than people realize. People listening to conversations and yes, its going to get worse. I am not even up on all this tech b.s. either but its plain to see whats happening. An old schooler & hippie!

JL, scam callers like this do not need to ''find'', ''get'', ''have'', or ''receive'' your phone number any more than you need to own the numeral '7' before throwing dice to win at a gambling table. Most of these credit reprice scammers are out of control and beyond easy reach. For now, file complaints with the FTC and attorneys general.

Here's a link to a site which helps explain the scope of the problem and why the credit reprice scammers are hard to control:

Just recieved an automated call stating that this was my last oppurtunity and to consider this my last notification at a chance to lower my interest rates to as low as 6% and then to press 1 to speak to a live operator. I usually do not answer out of area calls but I did for some reason today. when I pressed 1 I got disconnected. after reading all of these that happened today and in the last few days, I am glad it disconnected me. Not sure how they recieved my number since I am on the Missouri No Call list for Cell Phones. Stupid people and their trying to scam for money!

I have received several of these calls and I even ask the rep in my last call to remove my number from their data base and her comment was "You just wasted my time, I will not do that". These people are a joke! The verifying department for sprint goes on a 3 way call with some other department called their credit department. Their credit department starts pulling up public records,,, asks you about people in your family, any addresses related to your family and I did not allow it to go past that point I stopped the conversation. They refused to give me credit with Sprint because I refused to answer absurd questions..
They are acting like some Government Agent trying to pry into peoples personal lives,,,

I told him he was a clown! And not some Governed Agent....

LOL What a joke!!!!!!!!!!! Waste of my time and energy. Refuse me credit because I am not allowing them to pry and start asking questions about family members.....

I was asked to call 3 different numbers 18668606307 18668667509 18006396116
When asked what departments they were he would not answer.
Their worried about fraud, when they are fraudulent themselves....
