Received call from this nbr about 15 min ago on my cell#.. They left voicemail with the "FBI Break-In Warning" trying to sell a security system.

Caller: Alarm System/FBI Break-in SCAMMER
Call Type: Telemarketer

February 7th, 2014 Ricardo 21 Brazil

Called my cell (954 area code), I missed it and they did not leave any messages. As I have no business in PA, it is probably telemarketing.

February 7th, 2014 Nooneuno NY

Not sure who this could be - usually if they don't leave a message it's because of a collections issue. Don't think I have anything outstanding!

February 7th, 2014 Bert IL

Called my cellphone and didn't leave a message. As my Mother taught me, "If someone doesn't leave a message it is the same as if they never called." Another saying, "If a person doesn't leave a message, it wasn't an important phone call (or issue) to them."

I agree and also I wonder why did they waste their time and money calling for something unimportant? It wasn't / isn't my money, so why should I care that they called?

Getting these calls like clockwork on a daily schedule, warning about increased crime reported by the FBI. Took the time after the last call to press 1 for an operator and act being interested in their product. All went well until I requested the name and number of the company I was dealing with, they just hang up on me. I also pressed their no. 2 button to be taken off their list, but that seems to have encouraged them to bombard me with more calls. Btw, I'm also on the national DNC list.

They called here twice... Second time I made the mistake of answering since I know someone with family in that state. Wasn't too happy to get yet another Security System robocall.

I filed a complaint at donotcall.gov, for whatever its worth. I'm at the point where I'll ignore all out of state calls I don't recognize now. If it's important, they can leave a message.

February 22nd, 2013 PT IL

The caller ID read "Unknown." Obviously NOT someone I need to talk to!!

February 21st, 2013 TiredOfScammers AR

Caller ID just said "out of area". Started out saying the FBI had some sort of warning, report or data or something about crime and if I let the caller put a small sign in my yard, I get some sort of system absolutely free. It was a robocall, and I had to press a number to speak with someone, or another number to be removed. I didn't press any number. I don't know if this is related but just a few minutes before this call (less than 10 minutes) I had received another one from 2817604106 and That caller ID said "HOME SECURITY". I did not answer that call as I was on another conversation. For this call I'm reporting now, I hung up on the other conversation to get details on this call and report it to the FTC, which I've already done. Robocalls are illegal and can be reported even if you're not on the DNC list, which I am on it, so no one should be calling me.

The FCC has temporarily halted 7 minor unprofitable boiler rooms who will receive a slap on the wrist and be back at it within a few days. In the meantime the calls will continue since they are making money with what is called a CNAM revenue-sharing program through companies like www.telephonemanagement.net and www.CallerID4U.com
In their own words: 'Every day your company makes thousands of outbound phone calls. Every one of those calls generates revenue for many companies, why not yours? Our CNAM revenue-sharing program helps you make money every time a Caller ID request is made by a phone carrier. A high-traffic call center can lose hundreds to thousands of dollars a day to phone carriers by allowing them to charge for access to your own data.'

You can now see why the criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. They are making money even if you don't answer the phone. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their con then it is just icing on the cake for them.

What To Do When You Get an Illegal Robocall; www.ftc.gov
1. Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list and NEVER call them back
2. Consider blocking the number or on a cell phone add it to a contact list and assign NO ring tone
3. Report it at www.fcc.gov
4. Report it at www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
5. People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office
Register your phone numbers online at www.donotcall.gov or call (888) 382-1222 (must call from # you want removed).

There is a blog site that has information on one of these operations: telemarketerspam.wordpress.com

Just got a call from a company offering "free" security systems to those that put a sign in their yard. This is the same possible scam that has been around for a couple of years so don't be fooled. If they were an honest company they would not be breaking the law by using a recorded message and also calling those on the do not call list. Telemarketers that do that are IDIOTS or not based in the US!

Get on the DNC, report these scams, or stop complaining. I have been using the DNC for over 5 years and I can tell you that it really does work. We have 2 different phone numbers and hardly EVER get junk calls since we started reporting them.

Have been getting calls from this no. All tho it says it is disconnected. It is supposedly the pacific telecommunications group. These calls are the same as stalking. Very annoying. This has been going on for months now.. Apparently they are looking for people who don't have a system in order to rob them. It's a thought! Don't know where their boiler room is but I'm sure a good hacker could. I wonder how many who said they did'nt have one are robbed?

253-382-9923 is a Security System Scam

January 10th, 2013 BG NC

I was not home and they left no message. When I called the number back, a recording (man's voice that did not sound like the typical phone company messages) said the number was no long in service. I see that several people said they had been getting calls from some company trying to sell security systems from this number. I have received quite a few such calls that say things like,
"Don't hang up. The FBI reports there has been a crime in your area.... blah, blah, blah.) When I look at my caller id history, the call does not register at all. The most recent call that appears is the one I received before this number.

January 8th, 2013 Ann NC

I too like a previous comment, rec'd the initial call on 12/20...and then today.

January 7th, 2013 Dori OK

The recording states if I want to know more about free installation and no obligation press 1, when I press 1, the recording starts over (of course), that's how my voice mail is set up. It states to get onto a do not call list to press 9, I press 9 and it saves the message (of course) the voice mail is set up to do that, I get this call regularly and it is such a nuisance. When I call it back, I also get a recording that it is disconnected, which someone has purposely made that recording I think. Some people have too much time on their hands....

January 7th, 2013 Caroline CT

The recording says The FBI has reported......and then I hang up. Been getting these calls for weeks.

January 4th, 2013 Linda Higgins NC

My called ID showed that WASHINGTON was calling on 12/20/2012 and again on 12/28/2012. I assumed it was Obama contacting me about the upcoming fiscal cliff, and he needed my help. I didn't answer the phone on 12/20 because, quite frankly, I didn't give a darn. But now that Christmas festivities are over and our government needs to come to a decision very soon so we're all not taxed up the wazoo, I answered. It turns out that it wasn't Obama calling; instead, it was some company telling me that I could sign up with them for "free one year security service" to replace my existing security service. I never initiated this call; I'm quite happy with my security service.

So consumers beware: who would sign up with a security service for free when you didn't initiate the business deal? No one should do that. This could be a scam that could be very costly. Give the keys of your house to the thief and watch what happens!

This company never said its own name, simply referred to itself as "us."

I don't know who "us" is or who "us" thinks "us" is marketing to, but the messages and phone calls sure don't sound even remotely intelligent.

Either this company is trying to avoid having people know what it's actual purpose is, or the company should be brought in to court wherever it is actually located for fraud. (I was called from NY, New York.)

Doubt this is a real company, would like to know what the company really does besides calling people up and leaving weird messages about FBI statistics on their cell phones, and would like to know who sold my own phone number to these scumbags in the first place.

Maybe a Better Business Bureau issue, but doubt the company is accredited.

Nothing that you do will stop them from calling you. The major players behind this have made millions of dollars, which means that they are too big to fail.
One of the major players specializes in aiding the rich with tax evasion and shell corporations set up in Belize. You can bet that the well to do in this country are not getting lower your credit card interest rate calls and due to that fact our government just considers a few phone calls a minor annoyance.
The FCC has temporarily halted 5 of the minor non profitable boiler rooms. They will receive a slap on the wrist and be back at it within a few days. In the meantime the calls will continue since the major money is being made with what is called a CNAM revenue-sharing program through companies like www.telephonemanagement.net
In their own words: Every day your company makes thousands of outbound phone calls. Every one of those calls generates revenue for many companies, why not yours? Our CNAM revenue-sharing program helps you make money every time a Caller ID request is made by a phone carrier. A high-traffic call center can lose hundreds to thousands of dollars a day to phone carriers by allowing them to charge for access to your own data.

You can now see why the criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their con then it is just icing on the cake for them. These people are the lowest form of filth on this planet. The only way to stop this is to contact the FBI and ask why this crime family is allowed to operate and facilitate the ongoing criminal operations. This is one of the reasons that the RICO act was put in place, so why aren't they using it. Is this because this isn't a high profile, news worthy operation or is the FBI too understaffed and busy with Homeland Security issues. Maybe if we were rich they would take this seriously, but then if we were rich we would be using that criminal organizations services and protecting them instead of trying to shut them down.
There is a blog site that has information on one of these operations: telemarketerspam.wordpress.com

If I knew who they were I would write them a letter of complaint but I think it is robots dialing and who ever the company is should go out of business. This is wrong and should stop. We need to protect our land lines and cell phones against these robot calls.
I complained to FCC but I don't know what else to do, but I want to do something. Elderly people and people who Have to have a land line are at risk for spending their hard earned money on scammers.

File a complaint with the fcc.gov, there is an online form. They cannot call anyone using a spoofed id(fake) or number. They id shows Hollywood Fl or Plano TX , or any fake id or number, this is illegal as of Dec 2010. Please file a complaint or a law suit. . Please make a difference file a complaint under spoofed calls. I also filed a complaint in the state of Florida since they need a license to call you in Florida. Committing a federal felony such as spoofing should get their license revoked.

Give the company a call and tell them what you think.

Get yourself a cheap air horn and whenever these fools call up, let them start talking. Then say something back to them quietly so they will have to listen more intently. Then blast their eardrums to hell. Maybe then they will learn.

September 18th, 2012 JB VA

They have a lot of nerve calling after 9:00pm!

September 17th, 2012 Cyndi CT

To "Pat": They do not say they are from the FBI. The recorded voice says "The FBI reports that there are blah blah blah number of break-ins in the United States blah blah blah." If the recording said they were from the FBI, I would probably call the FBI to tell them about it.

September 17th, 2012 Cyndi CT

Recorded message saying "The FBI recommends that you protect yourself from break-ins" then the recording drops out and it disconnects. I assume it's a scam. I called the number back on another line and a "Verizon Wireless" message came on saying that the number had been either disconnected or changed. So the number is obviously spoofed.

September 17th, 2012 Iola

Almost back to back calls from this number and 206-496-0929, caller ID "Winner." Didn't answer either and suspected the same boiler room of both. Reading here, I learn I was right. And Resident47, you are my hero! I am grateful for all the info you post here.

September 15th, 2012 Cherryl Walker

I concur with Resident47. Pacific Telecom is the "King Rat" of harassing bogus phone calls. At 800notes.com, you will discover pages of identifications for sites and connections beholden to PacificTel.

The strongest weapon consumers have against this monster is not the FCC, but the ballot box. For PacificTel to get away with what it does on American soil, it has to have friends in high places -- friends who are making a lot of money on the deal. Behind those friends are elected officials who are getting their cut as well. Use the ultimate weapon of the ballot box to vote out of office those "mugwumps" who have been chowing down on the public largesse for too long.

September 15th, 2012 ROBIN NC

If I wanted to purchase something I would go to the store or I would pick up the phone! Robo calls are illegal but some people are stupid and give out information so they come up with anything they can to get info! One call they are doing security systems the next is telemarketing...When they call and you tell them you are on the DNCL they hang up and call back later! I have 5 complaints at the NCAG office.

September 14th, 2012 Resident47 RI

PacTel clients don't need good connections, only good hiding places. If you'd followed on to the newer blogs often promoted on 800Notes, you'd learn the background, mainly that cheap VOIP service and Caller ID spoofing were not available as tools of concealment to phone scammers when the DNC program was established. The FTC is well aware of this, and will be inviting ideas for a technological defense to be aired at the Autumn summit announced in July.

Agency Announces Robocall Summit to be Held October 18 in Washington, DC

For ''the gov'mint'' to cure this we would need Congress to fund an army of compliance employees for the FTC, which simply won't happen while our national attention is on barely legal wars, destructive oil drilling, keeping the banks rewarded for throwing families from their homes, shoehorning the word ''God'' into matters God himself could never care about, and the shopping habits of the Kardashians.

September 14th, 2012 B. Collins

These calls are coming from our old friends Pacific Telecom Communications Group (this comes from 800notes.com). Pacific makes its money by facilitating spoofed phone calls from overseas on behalf of American telemarketers. Why has the Federal Government has not been able to get a grip on this operation and put it out of existence? I would suspect that Pacific has many friends in high places all over the United States, and the world.

September 14th, 2012 Cherryl Walker

Caller ID is one of the best tools, if not the best tool, to alert a person to a bogus phone call. If you see a name or number that you don't recognize, or that makes no sense, don't answer the call. Simple.

What to do if the creeps leave a message on your answering machine? Take down the information, and report it to the FCC/DNC. Under no circumstances should you call back any number from such a source!

September 13th, 2012 Pat FL

This message said it was from the FBI and they want to put in a free home security system at no charge to us. ????? Big Brother?

September 12th, 2012 Betty NC

It's a skype number. Alot of companies and people are using skype to get around blocked calling. when they run the calls through skype it just generates a number and that is why so many people are talking about the same number but different calls. There is also a app. for cell phones called bluff my call and others like it that allow you to call any given number and make it show up as another number your caller ID.

she took my number and told me I was off the list..
I also said they DO NOT have ANY permission to pass my number along to anyone.....

They are telemarketers they do not care about the do not call list and continue to call my cell at work.
I have asked them on several ocassions to stop call but some one new makes the call. They aslo ask you who you are and where do live. They are trying to sale wiresless secuirty systems. They are not licend in the State of MN to offere any type of service for security and they will not give their company name. they also ask if you have credit card.

CID is 701-625-5008 "Weight Lose". The caller is a machine that asks you to press '1' for a special on a security system. I pressed '1' and the salesperson asked if I would have time for a series of questions about security systems. I asked for a callback number. She said there wasn't one, that it was an answering service. I said "Fine. Give me the number to call back and answer." She hung up. Calling the CID number gets a recording that requests you to press '1' to be placed on their 'do not call' list.

December 16th, 2010 Doug IL

Second time this week that I've gotten a call. This time I pressed '1' to talk to an operator. A live operator came on the line and took some basic contact info: name and street address. This time I didn't ask any questions, I just gave them bogus info. The operator said that a customer service rep would be contacting me shortly. Right after I got off that call, I got a call from someone selling security systems. I let the guy go on his pitch as if I was interested. Found out that the company is Pinnacle Security - www.pinnaclesecurity.com. The outcall agent at Pinnacle said that their lead generation vendor is Elevate. Took some digging, but I think this would be thinkelevate.com, who, not surprisingly, don't list any snail-mail contact info on their web site.

December 15th, 2010 Ticked-off

Have been receiving calls. Recording tells you to press 1 to talk to a rep. or 2 to have your number removed, I have pressed 2 numerous times so this time I pressed 1. When RICHARD answered to sell me his alarm system I requested removal and the jerk hung up on me!!

December 14th, 2010 Resident47 RI

Well, it could be any sort of sales. Call centers have more than one client, you know. The credit reprice scam has gone on for years, and the security calls sound somewhat like the Monitronics affiliate game.

December 8th, 2010 lady Luck PA

Actually they are in Virginia not ND. Also they are not Lose Weight, they are a bogus security systems company, attempting to obtain personal information. Just block the number. If you press 1 they immediately track your call, determine when you are home, etc.
