The phone is ringing, and I don't recognize the number, All Caller ID says is, "NAME UNAVAILABLE".
Please help me figure out who is calling and what they want
qvd calls from 13 phone numbers:
FOUNDATION FOR AMERICAN VETERANS
Foundation of American Veterans (QVD) looking for donations. When I asked to remove my name the guy hung up on me. When you call back it just goes to a recording. They call at 8am, 8pm.... All odd hours. I am reporting to the FCC and the DNC list.
Called with some scheme. Owing to the background noise-it was a boiler room full of the telemarketing assholes. Hung up and blocked the niumber
not the first call from this group, but this time they didn't disconnect and my machine picked up the sounds of telemarketers' souls being crushed.
Just got a call from them, but caller ID said QVD and I did not know who it was and I just guessed it was jet another Telemarketer, even though I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST ! Thanks to the Caller ID I do not even have to answer the phone, and they never leave any message, so I know it is not a real person. Anyone who works at a telemarketer is just a soulless shell and not a real person.
Please track down this number to ban call from them.
Message lower your credit card interest same old message push one they hang up
The FCC has temporarily halted 7 minor unprofitable boiler rooms who will receive a slap on the wrist and be back at it within a few days. In the meantime the calls will continue since they are making money with what is called a CNAM revenue-sharing program through companies like www.telephonemanagement.net and www.CallerID4U.com
In their own words: 'Every day your company makes thousands of outbound phone calls. Every one of those calls generates revenue for many companies, why not yours? Our CNAM revenue-sharing program helps you make money every time a Caller ID request is made by a phone carrier. A high-traffic call center can lose hundreds to thousands of dollars a day to phone carriers by allowing them to charge for access to your own data.'
You can now see why the criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. They are making money even if you don't answer the phone. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their scam then it is just icing on the cake for them. These people are the lowest form of filth on this planet.
What To Do When You Get an Illegal Robocall; www.ftc.gov
1. Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list and NEVER call them back
2. Consider blocking the number or on a cell phone add it to a contact list and assign NO ring tone
3. Report it at www.fcc.gov
4. Report it at www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
5. People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office
6. Report any criminal activity to the FBI here: tips.fbi.gov
Register your phone numbers online at www.donotcall.gov or call (888) 382-1222 (must call from # you want removed).
There is a blog site that has information on one of these operations: telemarketerspam.wordpress.com
Please read the blog and report violations to the proper authorities.
same nonsense. ComEd must have sold our phone number and now we get five calls a day from untraceable / bogus numbers. So much for the Do Not Disturb or whatever list!
pressed 0 to talk to a human about calling our business.
something about goverment eligibility for individuls.
figured they were trying for a home not a business.
all there was was silence so hung up.
keep calling, twice or more in one day. no message.
"Press 1 now to speak with a representative about lowering your electric bill"
Call from 201-298-6977 4 minutes earlier. Spoofing numbers.
Did you stay at Yosemite or Reno, NV in July 2012? I started getting telemarketing calls after completing a phone survey for a Reno, NV hotel I stayed in. The telemarketing calls got worse after I received automated calls from Yosemite regarding the hantavirus outbreak during my stay. Was my phone number sold by the hotel's survey contractor or Yosemite (actually Deleware North Companies)?? Did this happen to you too?? Solution: Never take a phone survey. Never answer a number you don't recognize.
received at least two calls a day from this number
I never get scam calls usually either, but I have been getting calls from this number that past couple of days. I have ptsd so receiving unknown calls causes extreme anxiety in me. this needs to stop.
Called offering to lower my gas bill. Don't press any buttons or say anything when they ask - that proves you're a real phone number. They've called from different numbers about 6 times in the past 3 days. Besides this, I never get scam calls on my cell. Why now?
They may be spoofing the callerID. Just got a call from 908-388-1154
calls and never leaves a message
I answered, no one spoke, hangup after about 10 seconds
Posts from 800notes website say that this might be some kind of political survey
They call all day long! Anyone know who these a-holes are?
QUIT CALLING THIS DAMN HOUSE!
These are the same kinds of boilerroom operations that trick young people into going around door-to-door to try to sell magazine subscriptions in order to win a scholarship to a college or university. The put ads in the newspaper about "travel"; that is the lure that snags those who are simply too trusting. The interviews are held in a hotel room, and you may be confronted by foreign-looking individuals who will stand and block the door if you seem not ready to leave with them immediately. Just act tough, though, and they will let you leave. Don't look back!
If these innocent kids don't make their quota of sales, as I was told by one young woman, they could be dropped off in the middle of nowhere and have to make their own way home. I told this same young woman to head home at once, to get away from these people. Heaven only knows what other horrible tricks they play on these young people. They may never be seen again by their families.
Becky, if we want the damned subscription we'll call YOU. Harassment brings Karma too you know.
anyone reading the ARROGANT comment below by "Becky"? Sounds like harassment to me. Bechy's comment makes me angry. Anyone reading this please do "print screen" and forward this page to authorities.
STOP CALLING, DAMMIT!
I've worked there before, here's the inside deal. It's a regular job, kids and adults alike goof off a lot. Sometimes people mess up and think they've gotten an answering machine so they hang up, explaining the silence. Secondly, we only call people with existing subscriptions to things such as BHG, Ladies Home Journal, AQHA, so on and so forth. To anyone that is annoyed with getting calls but never answer, JUST ANSWER and POLITELY tell the rep to remove you from the call list. SIMPLE. Because if you don't answer, guess what? Your number goes right back into the number recycler on our dialer and you will be called until you answer. We are also not allowed to leave messages on answering machines. And if you do happen to speak to a rep, just be nice for chrissakes. We're people too, just trying to make a living. You don't need to scream or hang up or be rude. And YES, we are ASSHOLES to people who pick up the phone and yell "STOP CALLING DAMNIT" we will CALL YOU BACK. karma is a BITCH. also, the national Do Not Call list does not apply when you wrote your damn number on the subscription card in the first place. Gives us the LEGAL right to call.
When I answer and this is the caller, no one responds.
Eva and Tracy: Apparently I must repeat myself from late April 2011. Neither this page nor this site is managed by your sales callers. If you want action, you must take your complaints directly to the call source, identified here and in other active threads this week as Graven, Austin & Drake, a telemarketing firm in Colorado.
The magic phrase you want for sales calls is "Put me ON your Do Not Call list". Since this bunch appears rather stubborn, it might be wise to put your demands in ink and send them via USPS Certified with return card.
I get calls from that number almost every other day.. I do not get any uncer, but now I know how is calling is from Better Homes & Gardens. I do not want to subscribe any more .Thanks.
we received 4 calls from this number this week--no message!
Did not answer phone
They need to stop harassing us. I don't want what you have to sell
Ah, glad I looked the number on this site. I wondered what BHG stood for, now I know. Better Homes and Gardens. I did have a subscription for the mag. but it ran out. Guess they want a renewal. Question answered. Thank you
Graven for BHG is a marketing firm making robocalls for Better Homes & Gardens Magazine. They (a) repeatedly call late in the evening (b) have disregarded instructions to remove our number from their phone database. I called the parent company . . . Graven, Austin & Drake at their toll-free number (800) 888-6780 and spoke to a very courteous representative, who apologized and said she would immediately remove our number from their database.
Keep calling and asking for "Bertha". I repeatedly tell them there is no Bertha here. Woman screamed at me yesterday when I said, "and this is the umpteenth time I have told you this." Called back tonight and pressed one to take me off of their call list. Kinda hope they do so I can report them to the Federal List.
When answering the phone with Graven for BHG no one answers. They call daily and nigthly and I'm sick of it. I'm going to report them if they call one more time.
Called back and pressed 1 for taking my number off their list. We'll see what happens next...
I am not sure but I am guessing BHG is Better Homes & Gardens. My subscription is due to run out in the next couple of months and I am guessing they are calling for renewal.
I have been getting these calls at 8:50pm and they wake me up every night as I get up early. I just called the 800 # in my BHG subscription and it is a automated call but if you call from your telephone number they have been calling you at it will take you off their mailing list. The number is 1 (800)374-4244. I hope this helps any of you that are as annoyed by these calls as I am. Thanks!!!
Block calls from Graven for BHG
I get between two and three calls a day from this number. I don't pick up - neither does caller leave a message. I don't know who Graven for BHG is - can only think it is for renewal of magazine - Better Homes and Garden. The magazine has sent renewal requests, which I have thrown away since I don't want their magazine any lnger. In fact, most of the magazines were just thrown away. Nothing of interest to me in them. I don't want any more calls from them!
Twenty percent of those reporting to this thread apparently don't comprehend what a mystery caller site is for. Neither this page nor this site is managed by your callers. These forums are strictly for call recipients to share their findings. They are NOT direct open channels to the phone bank boiler rooms we comment upon. The magic phrase you want for sales calls is "Put me ON your Do Not Call list".
Please stop calling.
I have received 2 calls this evening within 2 hours. I have gotten this call several times prior to today and I want this to stop!! I will be calling the 800 number to try to get my number off their list. Ugggghhhhh!!
If you call the number back it says :to take you off the calling list press one, even after doing this it still continues to call you every 2-3 days.
Just got this call for first time. did not pi
Like others, I received a call from Craven for BHG. I have caller ID and did not pick up the call but rather checked my messages. No message was left. I am suspicious of these type calls but would be interested in learning the nature of the call.
AN EVIL company. I told them we hand no interest in Better Homes and Gardens and he must put us on his do not call list, and he said, "OK, I'll call back later." He immediately hung up.
They are obviously jerks.
Received a call from "GRAVEN FOR EHG". No message. Caller ID says "Graven for EHG"
So frustrating... Even when I pick up on the first ring, they always hang up... WTH kind of model is that... Constantly call customers and then hang up... Ya, that makes me really want to buy more magazines... This one must be run by the monkeys from CareerBuilder...
A real scam spammer!!!!!
graven for BHG becoming very annoying.
Am receiving these calls 2 and 3 times daily, and getting rather annoyed. If this person really wants to talk to me, they can just leave a message. Since they can't be bothered to properly identify themself, I can't be bothered to answer the phone. Every time I don't answer is one more time they have to waste trying to reach me. Oh, and I don't and never have subscribed to Better Homes & Gardens.
Annoying daily 1-3 times, and each time no message
We see that "Graven for BHG" is, allegedly after all, Better Homes & Gardens. Since BHG makes no sense when seeing it on the ID, and "GRAVEN" would possibly make one think it was some weird call about "graven items" (gravestones?), we did not answer.
So, we called it back, after finding this website saying it's Better Homes, and they answer, "You've reached the 'DO NOT CALL' number." Well, dang! They want to communicate or not? I was wanting to get back to them, after all, b/c my mother, the above "Bev J," has ordered herself a new subscription to a mag, along w/ones for both my sister & niece.
Now that I know who it is supposed to be, I would like to talk to them, in case it was a matter of not being able to READ what she wrote for addresses, etc. HOW do we get ahold of them, if this # on which they call tells us WE are not supposed to call THEM???
They call, and call, and call. I finally answered, they asked for me by last name and then hung up. Very strange... I called the number and it is the Better Homes and Gardens "Do Not Call" list.
Stop calling us....this is harassment!
STOP CALLING ME!!! TAKE MY NAME OFF YOUR LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
they call my house several times a day and never leave a message.
Haven't talked to them but the number/name has shown up on caller ID numerous times.
Call early morning to after 9 at night. Already talked to them once to stop. UGGG!
call the number back to be added to their DO NOT CALL list
