Hello longing distinguish my sites, collection it if there is not then I'm sorry.
Hello content find exposed my sites, amassment it if there is not then I'm sorry.
Portfolio Recovery is a junk debt buyer. DO NOT PAY THEM, it will not help you at all to pay them anything. Look up their address and send them a cease and desist letter from making any further contact with you.
Don't give them ANYTHING. if the debt was from the 1990's is surely out of the statute of limitations for collection. If they continue to harass you, sue THEM.
Portfolio Recovery Solution have been using 757-961-6544 and many other number to call ad try to have me pay a debt for a loan my husband got back in the 1990s and defaulted on up in Chicago. I met him in 2010 and we got married now in 2013 they keep calling me to pay off the debt. I have explained my husband had a heart attack and is disabled and cannot work and will not be paying off the debt and it is not my debt so I have no intention of paying it but they keep calling. Each time I tell them I cannot have them calling me because I am at my job they push and push until I hang up. Then they call back with a new number. These recovery people really do go too far and it only started after I added him to my bank account in Ohio so I know for a fact where they got the info from!!
PRA and I have a system worked out.
They keep calling; I keep not answering. HA HA HA
They are not a real collecting agency!i know this because this morning at 3:11am they called my 12 year old daughter asking for her to pay for her dept! this is a scam to get money from people what ever you do dont pay them its a trick and its very annoying. They call her everyday and its just really rude and i would like this to stop but sadly we have no way of stopping.
We are in a war against these trash bags to gain control of our communications privacy. In the USA, the laws were changed in about 2006, and that opened the floodgates for these "monsters" to discover how to circumvent the law, and inundate us with junk phone calls. Vote out of office the scalawags who voted for the law changes in 2006, and vote into office people who will respect and honestly represent "we the people".
Some great spoof names are: Mai Wang, Big Phat Dik, Mitch Komestainne. Another fun ploy is to answer the phone as (Insert name of choice) Law Offices. Mirroring their language is also kind of fun. Listen to them and repeat what they are saying as they say it. Telling them that you are recording their call is also fun. Maybe answer the phone using the name of a local television station...or a church name that you make up.
When someone shows up as unlisted, private, or whatever, I do the following: I answer the phone in either Japanese or Korean. I use the name of any J-Pop/K-Pop singer I can find. One time I answered as Akihito, who is the Emperor of Japan. I put it this way: It is my phone and I will talk to the people I choose to talk to, not some scumbag trying to collect timed-out debts that they buy for pennies on the dollar. I have also answered in English as "Hugh Jorgan" (think about it). For the record, they use multiple phone numbers, none of which is their number. It is fun to just screw with them. It wastes their time, which cuts into their commissions. If you speak a foreign language, use a name in that corresponds to that language. Go to Google Translate and type in the most vile English sentence you can think of...then push translate into the language of your choice. I have also been known to just utter a continuous series of insults and profanities. These people are sharks...and they will never take their claim to court...so, abuse them as much as they are abusing others.
Number keeps calling a non listed #. What I know is if you answer the phone, you have automatically started whatever debt from the beginning. I do not owe anyone. But I do not plan to help weird callers harass me either over someone else's bill because I have their #. Advice.. do not answer calls from #s you do not know who it is. Once upon a time, I had a bill that the insurance company failed to pay to a hospital. I did not know because I never received a bill stating that. One day, I had a call from a man that spoke to me about that outstanding bill. He started yelling over the phone to me and informed me he was on the way to my house to collect and I BETTER HAVE IT. It freaked me out so bad.. I called back to the hospital to speak to the Administrator. Informed them of the call. She told me it was not the first complaint she had about it. She said she would call me back in a few minutes and for me to call the police if anyone showed up. Well no one showed but she did call me back and apologized to the fact that a X employee had taken debt files and was calling people for outstanding funds .. she did ask me to describe his voice and it was exactly as others that described him to be. So see.. you just never know about these things.
Pussies - didn't have the courage 2leave a voicemail ...
this is a nasty bill collector trying to collect on accounts that have timed out. do not answer their calls, they are threatening and harassing. There is nothing they can do to you unless you make any arrangement then you start the clock over.
It's Portfolio Recovery calling...a very nasty collection agency. They called me today...about a bill from 1998! Evil, vile and scumbag creatures. Simply tell them that the phone you are on is a company phone and that no personal calls are allowed. They'll tell you that the call is being recorded, so, turn the tables on them: tell them that YOU are recording the call, have proof that you have told them not to call your company phone and not to call again. By the way, be very careful in what you say: if you admit that the bill is yours or make any statement concerning the bill, the clock could reset and you could be liable for the long, LONG ago bill. Remember...these are vile, contemptible and nasty vermin. Treat them as something you'd scrape off the bottom of your shoe after a stroll through a dog-park.
Have nothing in collections but keep getting calls from these folks at dinner time! I won't answer anymore!
I PITY THESE FOLKS!!! THEY HAVE NO TALENT AND THEIR FAMILIES AND SOCIETY ARE REALLY ASHAMED OF THEM... THEY HAVE NO REDEEMING QUALITIES AND WILL NEVER BE CONTRIBUTORS TO SOCIETY.... HOW DO THESE FOLKS GET THROUGH THE DAY... KNOWING THAT... NO ONE CARES IF THEY NEVER HEAR FROM THEM... EVER...
These clowns only called once today. Usually they call 4 or 5 times every day. I will never answer their calls. CID today was blank for the name and number.
They call as many as 5 times a day. Never leaves a message. I have no debt and am not interested in talking to assholes.
that number called me and offer me huge money..
them it says that that I should pay a little amount.
I constantly get calls from this number and have for 2 years since I have obtained my current phone number. (Portfolio Recovery)I have advised them each time they have the wrong number-makes no difference. They advise the debt is from 1998. Apparently, I was lucky enough to get this person's old number. So, the last time they called, I advised them I would pay the debt when hell froze over and to get back with me then. I have no idea who the person is they are attempting to contact and most of the reps who called have stated along the line of: lying about your identity will not make your debt go away. Can we expect a payment today? Ugh!!
Same idiots with yet another number. I don't bother answering.
I did not answer the call,,,I routinely dont answer calls from numbers I dont recognize
Time to sued this caller for the constant harrassment,do not need these people calling if they won't leave a message or who they are.No name no call-back.Get a life and stopp calling my cell phone.
Jen, could you be bothered to read the first sentence of my comment right behind yours? AGAIN .... Debt collectors do not bother with the DNC registry because THEY ARE EXEMPT as non-sales callers!
I would suggest that you quit trying to negotiate verbally and slap on a written cease-comm, as I have discussed here long ago and detailed in this other thread:
Trying to collect what has already been paid misrepresents the amount and/or character of the debt in dispute. This gives you a FDCPA cause of action which you should be happy to exercise if PRA ignores your Cert-Mailed ''shut up''. If you're sued long past your Statute of Limitations you can spank 'em even harder. You have leverage! Use it when the time is ripe.
The problem is that they are not a legit debt collector. They are trying to collect a debt that I paid in 1998. I have told them this. There is no debt to collect. It is past the time period in which it could be collected if it were a legitimate debt. They are trying to defraud me by pretending that the debt is valid and I have repeatedly informed them that I have already looked up their company and am aware that their collection efforts are fraudulent in cases other than mine.
They don't honor the DNC list because they are liars.
Del, ''PRA does not respect the Do Not Call list'' because it does not need to. The federal Do-Not-Call registry exists to help enforce the Telemarketing Sales Rule. Please note the operative term ''marketing''. A debt collector is not a sales person. Here are the DNC service terms you were supposed to review at registration time:
Q&A: The National Do Not Call Registry
Over the past two years in this thread I have discussed the laws which *do* apply several times. I'm not repeating myself just for you. The FCC, by the way, has almost no jurisdiction in this matter. The FTC has been managing collector regulation from the start, and the CFPB staff may get around to helping once they finish unpacking their moving crates.
Got a hang up call today! I reported them to the FCC and they actually stopped in June 2012- but my cell phone rang once and
quit before I could answer this morning at 10:20 AM. PRA does not respect the Do Not Call list!!!
I will be filing complaints with the FCC after this post. AGAIN.
Believe it or not, it was my Granny asking if I wanted some fresh baked cookies!
Bottom feeders! Shirley called on my cell phone (this number is given to NO one but family!) about a family member who has NO outstanding debts less than 8 years old. They long ago came off the credit report & are outside the statute of limitations.
But these scumbags specialize in trying to convince people to pay them on debts that are VERY old. DON'T GIVE THEM A PENNY! The debt will go back on your records if a payment is made & it starts to ruin your credit all over again....
annoying calls, please stop calling, don't have any debt and I'm 66 years old and retired.Traveling on#SSS and own my own RV>
What A bunch of rude people PRA
No reason to be calling me, I don't owe tham a dime.
They called on my cell. How did they get that number? I have no debt issues.
I never pick up and they continue to call. I just got my cell phone in February and I don't know how they got my phone number. Plus I don't have any debt, new or old.
FCC.gov if they call your cell phone! FTC can't help with
Blockety block block. Or hit the call button and HANG UP. It's someone pretending to be busy, in order to continue to collect a paycheck. None of the advice offered here will help, other than you BLOCK the caller or DISCONNECT THE CALL without talking to them! Enjoy your summer vacation away from your mystery phone stalker. 8-P
JUST POSTED...YOU HAVE TO READ THIS....
Saturday, 9:22 AM, no message left by this caller 757-961-3544. Call received on my fairly inactive wireless pay-per-minute telephone.
This debt is from 1996 and they are still calling on 200 that got to 1000 with interest charges. I had just lost my job and moved away and now they are calling cell phone because its on my bank account and they can see it on credit bureau files. Tell your bank not to share your personal information / OPT OUT. And don't put your cell number on bank account or credit cards or school files.
They use different phone numbers also 774-633-9224
i got a call from (575)961-3544.the number came back as a debt collector.i paid my loan off for school i went to to better my life, only t find out i went to school fo welding and can't find a job.all i did is wast money on a degree i can't use.thank you oboma for the debt i paid off.and thnksfor fixing the job market!ya go to school for nouthing, thank you. aiwa0u812.....
These dirtbags are calling day and night . they just called my cell at 0715. isn't there a law that prevents calls so early in the morning?
1/5/2012 5:03 PM ... ID says Portfolio Recov.... We don't know them... No one speaks when we answer...
Calls me everyday, but I never answer the phone. I just moved here from the U.K, and I am already being harrased by these calls.
Troubled: You may have a cause of action under FCRA. PRA needs a ''permissable purpose'' to pull credit reports. The can't just go fishing without a collection account in their possession. Obtain hard prints of the major bureau reports; those are the only ones a judge can't dismiss. The bureaus don't make it easy for consumers to correct or delete faulty trade lines, but it can be done with patience.
If a collector thinks you owe something, a dunning letter must be sent within five days of first contact. Failing that violates FDCPA.
They call all the time, I don't owe any credit card company. Checked my credit report recently & they obtained a report 3 times within 2 months!
Fred: Tiresome ''Pay Youse Bills'' catcalls do nothing to assist the wrongly accused, the illegally dunned, or the many people with no defaulted debt PRA calls each week.
M5: You could be leaving statutory award money on the table. Blocking and ignoring calls is not a strategy. PRA has hundreds of numbers to throw at your few.
Bothered: PRA does want your money but is not a telemarketer to be blithely ignored. It can and does gleefully haul people into courtrooms to enforce its bad will.
I'm glad my January prediction about the spamming ''Hater'' was wrong, though his sloppy approach to debtor defense was almost as bad as the sloppiness of junk debt collectors. Don't follow his example. Be smart about the industry rules and make them benefit you.
scammers and scumbag foreigners
CALLER id is "portfolio recov". Another marketing ploy, they just want your money.
I never answer these type of call calls.
SCUMBAGS keep calling my FAX PHONE..geez
PAY YOUR BILLS AND THEY WONT CALL
Any day now the 'PRA Hater' will find this thread and hijack it with his ongoing copy-pasted crusade against a single agency. Also known as 'Scam Alert', 'Junk Debt SOL', 'Scam Fraud', 'Junk Dept', and other handles, let's save him some trouble. Without actually reading this thread, he'll dump one or more of the following:
- A stupidly redundant copy of the blocking device tag found on the bottom of EVERY page on WCU
- A self-contradictory and misspelled rant against PRA by 'Jonathan' made on this site in December 2009 (first appearance 8888548938, which also has an early entry from 'PRA Hater')
- The front end of a blog post from 5.5 years ago (http://credit.typepad.com/credit/2005/04/junk_debt_buyer.html)
No attribution is ever given to the authors, and the overall agenda is unclear. Defining the broader debt industry problem is a good long discussion to have, but beyond the scope of this forum. Blocking or ignoring calls and defeating bad collectors are incompatible strategies, as anyone with experience in debtor defense would agree.
Along with the frequent name changes, at times the poster has dropped his load on the wrong threads, unwittingly emulating the runaway skip tracing behavior of the collectors. As with any offered advice, always consider the source.
Side note .... PRA is the agency made infamous for passing along the "robo-perjury" of thousands of affidavits "signed" by a dead woman. See the Wall Street Joural article "Dead Soul Is a Debt Collector" for more.
Changing your own number is a VERY last option, KV. There is plenty you can do before that. As you and most others have found, verbal demands never work on these rogue debt collectors. Send a cease-comm via USPS Certified with card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one. This makes your demand actionable in litigation, therefore very hard to ignore.
"Rude and combative" handily describes the typical rep for these firms. Depending on how severe the hostility, you might have grounds to threaten suit and win a settlement. Read about the FDCPA as I've plugged before and see if you have such options. Document all calls meantime.
Annoying and rude, very combative when you actually have someone to speak with. They ignore you when you tell them to stop calling. Changing my phone number, last option as I see it.
calls 6-8 times a day DI FRAUD WATCH OUT THEY WANT YOUR INFO THEY ALLREADY HAVE MOST OF IT.
calls 6-8 times a day DI FRAUD WATCH OUT THEY WANT YOUR INFO THEY ALLREADY HAVE MOST OF IT.
Portfolio or so they say
The FTC is more than happy to seek million-dollar judgments against rogue collectors, but that only happens when enough victims complain, and NOT via the DNC registry, which, for the umpteenth time I repeat, does not apply to debt collectors. You won't get personal relief from PRA and NCO by wishing, CT. You have to do the homework and confront the agencies yourself, which should not be too hard if you cannot effectively be dunned. Learn how to exercise your rights as an alleged debtor at FTC-dot gov.
I keep getting calls from Portfolio Recovery, they will NOT leave me alone.
I do not owe them anything, and their pre-recorded messages they leave certainly are not going to get me to call them back!
With everything I've been reading that says they are a scam, I HOPE that someone will shut them down!
I have been filing complaints on the Do Not Call website every time I get one of these calls. I HOPE others will file the complaints as well!
I wish they would leave me alone!
"Are collection calls moving overseas too?"
Absolutely. Like many other industries, collectors are farming out to call centers in India and anywhere else the labor is cheap. Can't speak for PRA myself, but it's quite possible. You could also have someone stateside with faulty English. Collectors are also known to hire jailbirds.
The caller ask for my wife's grandfather who doesn't live here. His name is Richard, which is easy to pronounce, but she pronounced it "REE-SHAR". Like in French. Are collection calls moving overseas too? If this person is really in Virginia, they need to learn English.
Stay away from these people; they are looking for easy prey.
Warsun: I think the answer is that collectors are not going to look at court records but credit reports to see if they can make a jackpot. You might want to pull your own credit report, free via the FTC, to see if you have any derogatory trade lines attracting the wolves. Maybe your bank sold the debt account? In a perfect world your court case would be the last word, but sadly damaged credit needs continual vigilance.
Portfolio Recovery has a poor record of FDCPA compliance and has been quite busy lately to judge from all the recent complaints. Could be they are becoming desperate as the Great Recession erodes their profit sources, mainly destitute borrowers. If they're insane enough to dun you for a discharged debt, they can do it on paper like the law says. You may challenge politely, sending a copy of the judgement in your favor with your cease-comm. Else maybe can sue them instead. Not sure how the FDCPA would apply since yours is not a bankruptcy discharge, but I doubt the FTC would think PRA's behavior is justified, so it's possible you have some means of defense.
Has continously called my number.I haven't turned on my call blocker yet but i think i know whats going on. They want a collection over a 3000 dept that was run up by my bank and not me. I won the court case on it but they still call me. I was told by the judge if they call me again or try to solisitate to me show them this paper with my court case indicating THEY LOST and i WON.
I get the calls and sit here an think. Why in the hell should i have to tell them to stop calling me. Once it went through the court it should have already been posted "This guy is to be removed from your records.". So i have not talked to them.Even if you tell people hey stop calling me. This court case says i won an you need to delete that info from your records. They are STILL GOING TO CALL YOU! So wtf?
keep calling for debt that belongs to husband's ex-wife that he hasn't seen in 8 years
You can file a complaint by e-mail (email@example.com), telephone 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322) voice or 1-888-TELL-FCC (1-888-835-5322) TTY, by fax to 1-866-418-0232, via our electronic complaint form at esupport.fcc.gov or mail. For the FCC to process your complaint you must either fill in the electronic form completely or otherwise indicate:
Has been calling for several weeks, left messages on answering machine for a while claiming to be a debt recovery service.
I do not answer unknown callers. No message was left on my recorder.
I let it go unanswered; they pulled my name out of the phone book to pursue anyone who might pay
Portfolio Recovery and Anchor Receivables:
Call your local phone company to see if they have a service called "Call Intercept".. there is a monthly charge to have this service. With "Call Intercept", you can block any number in the United States. I have "Call Intercept" on my home phone thru Verizon and I am able to block 25 numbers. The person calling your number will get a recording saying "THE PERSON YOU ARE CALLING DOES NOT ACCEPT CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER, GOOD BYE." It's GREAT blocking Portfolio Recovery Associates from calling all day from different numbers. I am hoping that Verizon will extend call count from 25 to 50 numbers.
Early late dinner Sundays CONSTANT
Called our company during business hours looking for one of our employees. It sounded like a collection agency call. I hung up on them.
The caller wanted me to verify my social security number so that she could make sure I was the person she wanted to talk to. I would not give her my number nor did I have any bills that are due for collection. She insisted that I was beligerant and would call back later when I had calmed down. The nerve, she called me and has been calling and leaving messages on my answering machine. It is a recording and they say if I do not hang up I am accepting the call as the person that want to talk to. What kind of scam is this? Do they think I am uninformed about their mess. I will report them to the Better Business Bureau.
Sick to death of these calls! My answering machine is very clear as to who the number belongs to yet they keep bothering us...as often as three times a day-even late at night. My husband and I are Seniors and do not have outstanding debts. Something should be done to these people to get this to stop!

Total Scum buckets from hell! Violate every rule there is in debt collecting. They don't validate anything, they just keep sending you what on the original letter. Cease means nothing to this ass wipes. Norfolk is a meca for collection agencies as they get seasonal help that flow through the town like the bad water!

Wrong number. Keep getting calls for Patricia A McVeigh about outstanding debt from not paying her bills. Sounds like a fake name to me.
Bill collecter asking about my minor child. Not selling stuff but trying to get info. My kid is 11.....

Trying to assign my ex husbands debt to my son since he turned 18 are you kidding me??!?!?!?!?
This is a collection agency called, Portfolio Recovery Associates. They do not put their name on the phone. It just says UNKNOWN NAME. If they want people to pick up the phone, then they need to show their name.
973-947-4806 Portfolio Recovery Associates www.portfoliorecovery.com trying to collect an old debt

Never answer the phone that says on caller ID Virginia Call, New Jersery Call, unavailble, unknown, or out of area.
Please everyone Post any other numbers they call from here and everywhere else too. thanks
Just put them on a bad ring tone, then you won't answer. They hope to collect from a disabled, sickly old man who has nothing.I will file off a BK7 for that man sometime, feel no rush with my own disabilities.
another phone number used by Portfolio Recovery, another bottom feeder collection company that tries to intimidate people into paying old debts that are way past the statute of limitations. Do NOT let companies like this intimidate you! Know your rights & the law pertaining to fair debt collection practices!
If you make ANY payment to them, you start the statute all over again, since it is based on the date of last payment activity!
Calling my home to try and find my ex husband because he went default on some debts. They keep calling me (guess the jerk gave them my number instead of his own) about it I'll be reporting them to the authorities. (When the answering machine picks up, they don't leave a message now, just sit there with the phone line open for a few minutes before hanging up.)
The phone calls from hell. No I mean it. I missed their call again but then I don't need the headache from what I've read here.
yep, they call me all of the time. do they really think that someone would pay them for a bad debt they bought. well if I do, I will offer them 10cents on the dollar. So for a $1,000 dollar debt, they get $100. Take it or leave it, then sue me. After all, "pookie" did never have an agreement with them, only the original creditor has an agreement with Portfolio, as I understand the rules of the game.
Been getting phone calls from these people. Won't tell me who they are but tell me they have business with my husband. LOL!!!! I just hang up. My older daughter told me to GOOGLE the # and I would find out who it is. She was right!(PORTFOLIO RECOVERY) These people are trying to collect a debt from YEARS AGO that my husbands ex-wife had a credit card on. How did they get our # connected with her business and lack od paying a bill from over 10 yrs ago.?
My caller ID said VIRGINIA CALL.757-961-3544
DO NOT ANSWER WHEN THIS NUMBER CALLS. They are a group of people calling to harass about debts that are no longer legally collectable. Their company buys old debt and then convinces the uninformed persons to hand over money they don't have to pay. Don't answer, don't acknowledge them in any way shape or form.
they are my favorite people
Receive calls from one of the following Portfolio Recovery numbers twice every day. Today they called every hour starting at 8:23 am. The person they want no longer resides at this number. How harassing!
They also call from:
Not sure who it is because, just call at all different hours, different days, and they leave no message. If it is the Portfolio people, I have had dealings with them before. The doctor's office made a mistake (transposed some numbers) and billed me for someone else's surgery, the same surgery I had three months before. I called and they found their mistake, they said they will fix it, but a few months later I start getting collection calls for the same thing, apparently, they did not correct all of it. I told them, I had the same body part removed months before, how could I get it out again, they couldn't answear that question, but they did ask me when I could pay the bill even though I told them it was not my bill. I told them to even send me a copy of the paper work and stuff, they never did or have.
These people have called my 9 year old sons cell phone for months now, when we call and tell them its the wrong number they get upset and very rude to him and myself. They told us they were a debt collector, and when we told them that were arnt the person they were looking for, they argured with us and tried to convice us that we were them. They had my 9 yera old in tears, and they lady kept on him. I just spoke with a Mr. Person (i am sure thats not his name) and he said they couldnt find the phone number in the system so there was no way that they had called him. When i told them that i had cell phone records, tape recordings and documentaion from AT &T that they had called, he changed his story and said he would take the number off the call list. I am seriously considering filling a report with the authorities on this one. I have also sent them a cease and desist letter to the corporate office (fax number 757-321-2504).
Called twice so far this morning, no messages. Now that I see its Portfolio, that gives me even more reason to not answer.
Bud Hibbs has info on those with lawsuits lately, check it out.
This person called and when I was not the one she wanted, she demanded to know who I was. I asked her what business it was of hers. She replied that she needed to know that a stranger was not answering the phone. I asked her if she was implying that I had broken into someone's house and then was answering their phone. The nerve!!! She immediatly hung up. This is ridicuous that we are being labeled as criminals just because we won't tell them our names.
Every time they call, I just connect and then hang up.
Been calling for 2 years now. Haven't answered in that time nor will I ever answer. I swear if they miss a day I feel like calling them to make sure everything is OK
These people call from several different phone numbers and when you do talk to them they demand to know when you will be paying them. My credit is clean and my cc bills are always paid on time, I refuse to answer their calls
There is a derogatory picture of Muhammad on their website. As a Muslim, I am deeply offended by that and I have contacted them and asked them to please remove this picture off their website. I hope that they will do so or I shall contact them again.
This is their despicable website:
These people have called my house about 5 times over the last 2 weeks. Since I don't recognize the number I haven't answered it. From this web site I see that is a debt collection company (Portfolio). We have good credit and NO outstanding Debts so I am not going to answer it.

They called me several times now. You will notice my bizarre name of Smith. Very unique. From their information, the person they are looking for is more than 13 years older and with a different social security number. I am very angry that they continue to call. I am very angry with how they likely got my phone number. What did they do, look up Thomas Smith in the phone book and start calling? Nothing has come in the mail, so I know they do not have my address (and will never give it to them). What a disgusting group, to call the wrong person (likely selected by a simple phone number look-up) and accuse them of not paying their bills in an extremely rude way. I must admit that I gave them a very hard time with the last call but am deeply insulted by their tactics and fee the better for it!

these people are the most persistant pond scum on the planet. They literally have over a hundred phone numbers they use to harrass you. Simply don't answer the phone if you don't recognize the number. They have been calling me for years! Every other day and often several times a day. There's no gertting rid of them so don't answer or get all their numbers blocked on your phone. i currently have over a dozen blocked on both my cell and home phone. Would love to see them all sail out to sea in a leaky boat.

I HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS TO BOTH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. THESE IDIOTS ARE OUT OF CONTROL.
I just started getting calls from this company yesterday. I added their number to my blocked numbers (check w/your phone service to see if you can block numbers. I have comcast for my home phone service you can just dial *60 and wait for the prompts to add numbers on your block call list, once you add a number they can no longer get through to you).
I pick it up and then lay the phone down and come back 5 min. later, and now I don't get called near as much.
I wish a law maker or someone would take care of this company- they are ripping people off. I would throw them in jail.
They are Portfolio Recovery Affiliates. They are trying to collect on old debts that are past the statute of limitations. These are debts that you are NOT legally bound to pay. If you send them a payment, they will re-age your debt and it will no longer be past the statute of limitations. Do NOT answer their calls and if they send a letter to your home, send them one back disputing the debt due to the age of the debt. They will have to stop calling you then.
They call our house all the time, but never leave a message, and it only comes up on our caller i.d. as "Virginia Call". Annoying, and I have no idea who they are or what they want.
Just wanted to say...THANK YOU to all who posted info. re: this #. They keep calling my number. I never answer because I don't recognize the number and never leave a message but keep calling. So again, thank you for all of the posts to keep people informed.
Don't answer. Collection Scam.
