The phone is ringing, and I don't recognize the number, All Caller ID says is, "NAME UNAVAILABLE".
Please help me figure out who is calling and what they want
medic calls from 2 phone numbers:
they keep calling and hanging up we are having the calls traced
Originally from Niagara Falls NY living in Panama City FL. Saw where the call originated and thought it was family calling, returned the call and got a recording that the number was no longer in service.
Assume this is medic alert - I've had recent diagnostic tests - who knows who is selling our "personally identifiable information", but it's illegal. Register on national "do not call list" every year! Fight back for our privacy
This number called at 3 AM and left a voicemail (cell phone was off): "...press 1 and you can now receive a free medical alert system. Or press 5 and we won't call again."
Thanks for that info Glenn. The AARP Bulletin article is "Cause for Alarm" by writer Sid Kirchheimer, page 30. Check it out at www.aarp.org
Very annoying. These obnoxious medical alert device scammers change the phone number every few weeks so the Feds can not catch up with them. I happened to walk into the house at 1225 pm PDT today and the phone rang, and it was the same scam, but different this time. It has always been a woman before, maybe a few words, and then would hang up. Or they would hang up right after the answering machine came on. This time it was a man in perfect English speaking for well over a minute on the medical alert device. I shut off the phone after a minute. Now these obnoxious people want to fill up the message box? How likely would anyone be to have a thing to do with idiots that do that?
Another location for the medical alert scam (as reported in AARP Bulletin, July 2013). "We are ready to deliver you medical alert device that you ordered. . . ." This is simply another location. I recommend that anyone receiving this call report it to the FTC or FCC.
Xalls and hangs up before I answer. Annoying!
Getting calls from this #. Obviously one of those robot calls, as when I pick up the phone, there's a pause and then the party at the other end hangs up.
Wish the caller would observe the National Do Not Call LIST!!
Meant to say--it is a different phone number from the previous calls.
Had been receiving these calls pertaining to the medic alert. Then the calls had stopped for a while; now we are getting them again.
Received one today at 10:47 a.m.and I pressed the '5' button as requested. That is supposedly to stop the calls. I doubt it; I will file a complaint if I get anymore. (Also Received a call yesterday from an electric company from Erie--did not answer; I will do the same for them). We are on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY.
i hate unsolicited-hang up calls like these. like greg, i also reported them to dncl.
I am glad I was led to this site by Googling the phone number. My mother is elderly and of course, the first thing I thought when I saw this on the caller ID was that something had happened to her. TERRIBLE way to do business!
I picked up the phone & just listened. Didn't hear anyone so just set the phone aside until they finally hung up.
Picked up on the call as it appeared that it might be a medical call from an hospital ER. Can't believe a I fell for it. I suspect that was their plan by showing Medic ER ALERT on the caller ID. Anyway the recording was about falling down and their service for pushing some button. They did not identify the company during the robo call. Press 1 to talk to a live(?) person or press 5 to be removed from their call list. Next stop is the the FTC site to file a complaint. If this was a for real company their methods are at least questionable if not a violation of the FTC rules about robo calls.
I also received a call from this number with caller ID reading "Medical Alert and a recording for their services. I let it roll to voice mail and have to concur with "DoNotAnswer's" previous comment about falling down and not getting up with one exception, I'm over 50 so If these folks calling would promise me that after I push a button they track me down and pick me up off a bar room floor then their service may have some value after all...nah! Frigging telemarketers! there's' a special place in hell for telemarketers, and that's neck deep in $hit with some irritating teenager riding a Jet Ski full throttle past them (over & over for eternity) just say'in :(
Pre-recorded message "You have options if you fall on the floor".
I am 27. I don't fall, and if I did, I wouldn't push a button for
help. I would just wait until I sober up.
