I was in the middle of my morning prayer time this morning. It wasn't even 8:30 yet and this call interrupts. I have helped this society for over 10 years now and I am just tired of being harassed. I am on the DO NOT CALL list but realize because I have dealt with this society in the past, they're permitted to call. I have even had them call late in the evenings. TIRED OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I usually have the ringer shut off on my phone and respond only to messages left on my answering machine. However, at the moment I have a very ill family member and must leave the phone ringer on in case they try to reach me for an emergency. So far the only phone calls that wake me up every morning are the ones from this 800 Service. I do not answer any '800 Service' numbers nor numbers I do not recognize. I donated to this group about 10 years ago and cannot get off their phone registry. They have ruined it for every other cause - I no longer donate to any organizations although there are several I would love to help.

These same people called my home number yesterday using a different number. I am on the National Do Not Registry but they still call. This might be a great organization and with a wonderful mission, but I don't want them calling me unsolicited. It is annoying and my annoyance is made worse by the knowledge that the CEO makes over $500,000 a year. I won't give any money to an organization, no matter how beneficient their motives are, if they use these tactics to raise money. Here are known numbers that the LLS uses. I am blocking these numbers.

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. They get a decent rating from Charity Navigator, but are incredibly persistent at cold calling people who have no connection to them at all.

(866) 263-1169

March 3rd, 2014 volunteer AL

I did not answer because the CID was "Toll Free Call" which is usually a telemarketer. Guess what! No message was left. My number is listed on the DNC Registry and I don't ever recall giving to that organization. So, they are in violation of this feckless DNC regulation that our feckless federal government has issued to pacify the masses.

They are calling here many times a day with many different phone numbers, often without area codes (weird). We never answer and they never leave a message. I have donated in the past (but NOT on the phone) b/c relatives have had these diseases, but b/c of their calling and calling and calling, I no longer donate. They also send solicitations in the mail with a nickle in the envelope -- such a stupid ploy!

I received this call on: Unknown, but about Dec. 2012
Caller ID showed the name: Out of area
I think the caller's true name is: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

We have previously rec'd calls also with no message.
I called back (finally 02/25/13-today, date of comment).

I got a recorded message with options.
They identified themselves as the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.

Had the option to be removed from their call list and to allow up to 30 days, it said was allowed by Federal law, to be removed as such from said call list.

I finally entered my 10-digit number, pressed the # sign and then entered "1" to verify the number they thought I'd entered.

I have blocked it in our house phone block list accordingly just to be sure.

In mid-January 2012 I updated the InfoCision thread I'd mentioned here before. There you will find a detailed account of how I made good on my own advice. To date, my phones remain silent while others continue to report nagging calls about this firm's many so-called ''charity'' clients.

(9018819984) whocalled.us

While nothing in life (except for death) is guaranteed, I have done the one thing which gives me leverage over this most irritating commercial fundraiser. It demands little effort for a lasting gain. The ''block and ignore'' crowd does not enjoy this satisfaction.

If ''they keep calling'', it's because you keep doing nothing, or else nothing effective. Coming back here repeatedly to spew illiterate rants under multiple aliases (''Hector'', ''Viola'', ''Samatha'') is under the ''not effective'' column. Ditto for insisting that others should decide for you which legally placed calls are unwanted and swoop in to solve your problems.

(866) 264-5059

January 9th, 2012 Resident47 RI

Wow, someone concurs with my advice for once. (seen here Sep 2011) I did send InfoCision my ''get lost'' letter some weeks ago, and demanded addition to the master ''no-call'' list per my own instructions. A hail of calls for the annual March of Dimes campaign prompted this action, but this one call center has been a major pain for a long time, representing dozens of clients.

So far, so quiet. The next calls I get from that place will cost them $1500 a pop when I sue for disobeying my orders. Not bad for a six dollar investment in a simple letter, but I'd be just as happy with slightly less wealth if they comply.

No phone number is secret enough to resist a sequential dialer. Many of our junky callers don't begin with a prospect list, they build one as the call campaigns progress.

Really I'm mostly harmless and not taking any federal paychecks, just someone who prefers to make an informed and helpful opinion. This for some reason generates anger and insults here. There is no other mystery caller site with such an air of hostility, or showing a more widespread expression of apathy.

October 11th, 2011 Pisstoff NY

Called 3 times today. This whole thing is very annoying. Not sure where they got my number as I'm most often very careful on who I give it out to. Have to say, all the comments I found here are interesting...well, except for that resident person...she may work for the FBI or something, so I'd be careful about what I say here. Whew....

Don't do business by phone no matter who it is that calls.

Kitti, a month ago you referred to your callers as ''racist pigs''. That's the part left unexplained. I asked you about that over three weeks ago. Instead of describing your experience for everyone's benefit, you prefer to fume at other people attempting to help. The rest of us have jobs, too, or we wouldn't have phones for begging pests to ring. If you have time to keep returning here and ridiculing strangers, you have time to find the answers you need.

I've already made my guess over a year ago that InfoCision is placing the calls, but it could be a different firm. You could try asking LLS yourself who they've hired, or find the list of registered fundraisers with active campaigns in your state.

(866) 263-1169

September 14th, 2011 Ken NY

I'm encouraged by some of the recent comments posted here. At least a few are begining to understand that the only way to stop this insanity is to never answer the calls. When you don't recognise the caller id, then simply don't answer the phone. Legitimate callers will leave you a message. It works, but, takes time. Over the past year or so, I have gone from 20 to 30 calls per month to 2 or 3 calls for month and improvement continues. If everyone would practice "don't answer", these calls would cease to exist. No one, not even these people, would continue to call if they can't make money at it. Wise up the rest of you.

(866) 264-5059

September 12th, 2011 Resident47 RI

If you'd actually read my comments with care, they tend to stress private action, not waiting for rescues. Yes, the commercial fundraisers do use autodialers; all the more reason to take action and get on a paper trail.

You have time enough to insult fellow readers but not explain your issue from two weeks ago. I think we're here to help each other, not create more noise.

Here's some discsussion of the problem from the start of 2011:

''Fundraisers take a cut of giving''

September 11th, 2011 Kitti NY

Ohhhhh, the government will save you from these scum suckers? That's Great!!!!!! Mr Resident got toooooo much time on his hands. Thanks for the laugh Resident....!!!!!!!!!!

September 9th, 2011 Resident47

Here's the rest of my standard advice, Stawon:

File complaints with the FTC and attorneys general, and the charity group doing the hiring. When the boiler room calls, try getting on a master ''no-call'' list for all of that firm's charity clients. (See more discussion under this number: 9018819984 ) If a given commercial fundraiser seems deaf to your demands, and/or merely renews its pestering with the next campaign, turn up your volume on paper. Send a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with return card. It need not say more than to stop calling and writing whatever numbers and addresses you want protected.

A charity call campaign must usually be cleared through some agency or regulator in your state, and many states make activity reports available online. They often reveal a specified period of weeks or months in which the group is permitted to solicit, sometimes tracking well with the observations on these call forums. Find those reports and you'll find one more desk to advise of your displeasure.

Doug: (ssiigh) The DNC registry is simply that, an enormous list of phone numbers, NOT an agency unto itself.

Bill: Keep note of those abandoned calls. The FTC won't tolerate that happening more than three percent of the time. You are correct, doing nothing changes nothing. Autodialers don't get tired and don't call in sick.

Samatha: I'm someone who has learned a few things about consumer protection laws and hopes to help others, which is part of the point of these mystery caller sites. Is that a problem for you? The name you horribly misspelled was F. Lee Bailey, a once high profile criminal defense lawyer. We're strictly in civil dispute territory here.

September 7th, 2011 Samatha NY

Just who is this resident47 person, F. Flee Blailey or something. They call all the time and use different numbers. Just the worst kind of peoples there is. Any bodie that gives money to that leukemia bunch should have to do 5 days of commnubity service. right after they have there head examined.

You people actually talk to these people. ....Ask them to "take you of the list"? Really? REALLY?????

(866) 264-5059

September 1st, 2011 Resident47

No, DAG, a commercial fundraiser does not ''need to abide by DNC''. This has been discussed here long ago. Commercial fundraisers sneak in as Do-Not-Call exemptions but do not share the same protection as their clients. The FTC rules say: ''... if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000.''

Kitti, what have you experienced to make a racism charge? I doubt you'll ever get your civil dispute into criminal court, not unless an InfoCision rep came in person to ''assault'' you.

They called early Sat evening, early Sunday morning and twice more since. I didn't get to the phone in time to answer any of them and they never left a message. They called this morning (Thurs) st 9:15 and I answered on the second ring. There was no one on the other end and finally the connection went dead. I answer all toll free calls and if they are from charitable organizations, I tell them I never give to any organization that solicits on the telephone and to please take my name off of their calling list. These calls need to abide by DNC lists. if we want to donate to a charity of our choosing then we should have the choice. Harassing anyone is horrible but when they call 5 - 6 x's a day from different numbers and you are elderly or disabled, it should be a crime!! We need to harass our Senators and Congressmen to stop this as being a legal way to get donations. Harassment is a crime in my state! Why are they excluded. Suggestion #1 would be to stop hiring aggressive and greedy commercial fundraisers year upon year.

I would enjoy reading an estimate of the suffering which might have been saved with the ten million dollars the InfoCision chairman spent in 2008 to slap his company name on the new University of Akron stadium for two decades.

Sugar, Mitzi, Peter, and everyone else who can't be bothered to review prior posts: The DNC registry is for telemarketers, meaning sales. Charities, debt collectors, political speech, and surveyors are all exempt as they are not included in the FTC definition of ''telemarketing''. This was made known to you when you registered your numbers.

The following URL links to the FTC FAQ page which the DNC site _twice_ coaxed you to read before you registered your numbers. See items 28 through 32. You'll see that's where I got the quoted part of my April comment.

Again, you are dealing with a for-profit firm, a commercial fundraiser, layered atop the charity client. If you want peace from its pestering, you can't wish it away. You must get a live rep and revoke call consent, and make a written record of this. If this fails to deter future calls, I would draft a letter to InfoCision (or whatever commercial fundraiser it is) and send USPS CMRR, reminding the call center that on a given date I had issued a no-call demand. If any of these calls are autodialed and/or deliver a canned message, the very next call after their receipt of my demand would attract a TCPA lawsuit. Very likely one of those conditions apply.

Yes, the TCPA says it exempts non-sales calls. I would argue that these *commercial* entities are salesmen by another name, as the freely available governmental reports on their activities make clear. Let a judge say I'm wrong. If not, that'll be 500 dollars a call, please, or treble damages for knowing and willing ignorance of my cease-comm demand.

Things to try if you're not feeling litigious:
File complaints with the FTC and attorneys general, and the charity group doing the hiring. When the boiler room calls, try getting on a master ''no-call'' list for all of that firm's charity clients. (See more discussion of this tactic under this number: 9018819984 )

Have you received calls several times a day from 866-229-1369? I have; they never leave a message, and don't answer if you pick up. Some say it's the Leukemia Society. If so, why are they involved in a creepy tactic like this, one that does harm to them and the people they represent. I've filed a complaint with the Do Not Call people and will never donate to them as long as they use this sleazy baffling tactic.

These scumbags call from 8AM until 9PM. It goes to my fax machine but they still keep calling. Caller ID reads out "Toll Free Call" and the number is 866-229-1369. I am on DNC but it does no good. I've filed numerous claims with DNC for various calls but nothing happens. Some of these complaints to DNC are not only from donation societies (supposedly non-exempt) but from telemarketers. Whey doesn't DNC do their job?

Very frustrating. I never answer calls with "Unavailable", "Unknown Name", or toll-free numbers, but they still keep calling every day. I have stopped contributing to several organizations due to their constant harassment, both phone and mail, and wrote and told them so. The calls and the mail solicitations just keep on coming anyway.

My neighbor has been distributing donation packets for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for years, so that's probably where they got my name; but I started getting calls from them only a couple of weeks ago. At first, I didn't answer because it only says Toll Free Call. After getting several more calls, I looked it up here and saw it's the L & L S. Called the number back and went through the process of having my number deleted. I just now looked up their web site -- www.lls.org You can go there and click on Contact Us. Scroll down to the bottom of that page to Communications Preferences to find a link to their Do Not Call form. I filled it out, and it said they had received the information, but no indication of how long it will take.

Much of the charity phone bank work is farmed out to so-called "commercial fundraisers" such as Associated Community Services, Dial America, and InfoCision. These call centers do not share DNC exemption with their clients. The FTC says: "... if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000."

Harassment charges can be viewed subjectively and very difficult to press in court. One is on firmer ground if call consent is revoked in writing and such notice can be proven through a certified mail return card.

Legitimate charities do not attempt to raise money by telephone solicitations. The telemarketers take most of the money donated through these sorts of campaigns. Do not donate to the frauds. "Donations" only pay them to continue their fraud.

I called the number below a previous message gave and received a recording. I left a message to be taken off the list. They call at least once a day and hang up. They may give a legitimate charity name, but that does NOT mean they are legitimate. I have never heard of these organizations with a shop here for donations or resale. It is a shady, scammy, and rude way to ask for people to be nice and give. It is harrassment/stalking. THE PHONE IN MY HOME IS FOR MY CONVENIENCE, NOT TO BE AN INTRUSION BY UNWELCOMED SOLICITATIONS. We have the blocking item from Radio Shak and they still get through. We are on the Texas do not call list and they get through. I have blocked the number and they still ring through. Enough!

Cloth Donations has been calling my number for months! When they didn't stop calling I answered 2 of the calls and all I got was a hang up. I found the 817-273-5500 on this site and called the number. A woman answered, I explained the situation, she asked me for my zip code and phone number and said they would take my number off the calling list. I would hope this is the end of one more phone nuisance. Thanks to the person who supplied the reachable phone number.

When you get this call fron Cloth Donation and the number is 817-273-5547, just call 817-273-5500.
This will get you to a person who will state they are a supervisor.
Ask to have your number removed from their call list.
They only information this person requested was my phone number.

This "organization" calls all the time every day, even at 9pm. I agree with other comments. This appears to be a front asking for donations and then re-selling on the other end. I asked them to stop calling and they hung up on me before I could ask to speak to a supervisor.

I just received a phone call for 817-273-5547.... I do not trust that this is a legitimate charity. I have received calls from this number many times over the years, and they 'usually' identify themselves as Leukemia Society and were picking up clothes in my area. I have on occasion set some clothes out for them. However.... over the past several months I've been noticing that when CLOTH DONATION appears in the caller id, I was expecting them to say Leukemia Society, but instead they have been saying they are with the Disable American Vets, or American Diabetes, and today they said they were with the Association for the Blind. I think this is a call center that is using charitable organizations to obtain re-sellable items.

OK! I am sooo sick of these people. They call from six different numbers began on July 15,2010 asking for donations. I told them I was unable to give and to take me off their calling list. I have put call block on them,(which I just found out through my sis n law that they are exempt from call block...I call BULL on that!) have reported them to the FCC and to AT&T. I don't care that you are a non profit but you shouldn't be allowed to harass people like this group does. I told the girl who called today 7/29/2010 that I informed them on 7/15/2010 that I was not able to give and to please take me off their calling list ONCE AGAIN! She then said would I be willing to give a contribution, I said no. I said if they were the Leukemia society then why does caller ID say unavailable? I told her that I thought this was a scam and don't call my home again.

The caller said she was fund raising for the leukemia society. This is a SCAM! No legitimate charity raises money thru cold-call phone solicitation. Legitimate charities stopped doing this years ago. If you want to help legitimate charity, give to Salvation Army, local Humane Society (NOT HSUS! - which is nothing but a radical "animal rights" group), or the 100 Club to help law enforcement and fire fighters.

Recent tactics include predictive dialing and the use of multiple rotating numbers to frustrate caller blocking. You can get them from amazon.com for as little as $7.00 for the 1.4oz can or under $30.00 for the 8oz which will last a very long time if used in short bursts. Refill 8oz cans are about $16.00. Infocision is a telemarketer based in Akron, Ohio and routinely runs aggressive campaigns for charity and political groups. Here is a potentially incomplete list of their past and current clients for the year 2010:

Alzheimers Association
American Cancer
American Diabetes
American Heart
American Institute for Cancer Research
American Lung
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation
Ave Maria University
ChildFund International
Concerned Women for America
Coral Ridge Ministries
Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America
Faith & Freedom Coalition
Habitat for Humanity
International Fellowship of Christians & Jews
Jewish National Fund
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
March of Dimes
Media Research Center
National Multiple Sclerosis Society
Open Doors
Operation Blessing
Prison Fellowship Ministries
Saint Jude
Smile Train
Telecom Pioneers
United States Citizens Association
US English

Recent Infocision tactics include predictive dialing and the use of multiple rotating numbers to frustrate caller blocking. Because campaigns can run for weeks and months, the call center is encouraged (if not obliged by contract) to keep pelting the same unresponsive targets through the bitter end. Charities are among the FTC DNC exemptions, even if third party for-profit firms are involved in collection.

Note that there may be overlap with other telemarketing firms working the same accounts in parallel, such as Donor Services Group, Echo Marketing, MDS, and Telefund. However, as phone campaigns from client groups also tend to overlap, it is quite possible (and has already happened here) to receive calls by the dozen each week. Ostensibly they are from different sources but often they all originate from Infocision.

This means that while you may successfully get on the internal DNC list for a single client group, Infocision is bound to call again soon for any of their other thirty-odd clients. Stronger countermeasures may require entry into a master DNC list for the call center itself, a sort of blanket protection. Sometimes you may get satisfaction from contacting the charity or interest group directly and reporting to them the irritation caused by its hired phone jockeys.

However, my records show that the same charities and PACs run the same campaigns at the same times each year. Some will add a call recipient to internal DNC as requested, then conveniently forget the request just in time for the next campaign. If comments to these caller databases sound strident, it's only because we are so very tired of saying "no" every day we are near a ringing phone and having to repeat and redirect our requests.

Called yesterday (04-22-2010) 1:58pm. Left no message. Based on feedback on this page it's probably some tele-stalkers hiding behind the cloak of charity-immunity from the do not call list looking to harass people again. Just gonna block it. Buh-bye.

i called back and it said it was the leukemia/lymphoma society.
we're on the do not call list and have not ever had anything to do with this company... i guess non profits are exempt from the dnc?

Direct Advantage / Outreach Associates does not call on behalf of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and your figures below on percentage of the funds to charities . Call the number on your caller ID and request to be removed from the phone list, and you will no longer receive calls from them.

This company, DAM or Direct Advantage Marketing (aka Outreach Associates) calls on behalf of charities whom you may have supported in the past. Only 46% of the moneies they collect go to the charities, though.

On another website, someone who actually worked in their call center reported dishonest practices -- they were supposed to try and get your credit card number "at all costs" and if you weren't comfortable with that, they'd give you an 800 number where you could supposedly give it "safely." But that number simply went to someone else in the call center.

Please do at least two things to help quash this B.S.

1) Report the number to the FCC and mention the harassment aspects (calling several times a day, using up cell phone minutes, calling late at night, giving the fake "secure" number to get your credit card numbers.)

2) Call this company at 412-381-2300. I believe it's option 4 you press to have your number removed from their calling list. The person will be 'VERY POLITE,' which unfortunately pacifies a lot of people. Go along with the politeness, but don't believe it. Just have them remove your number from the list, and be SURE to ask them the charities on whose behalf they're calling you.

THEN -- HERE's PROBABLY THE ONLY THING THAT MIGHT WORK -- CONTACT those charities and state that you absolutely withdraw any support, and will flood the internet with suggestions to others to follow suit, unless and until that charity stops doing business with this harassing fund-raiser, Direct Advantage Marketing.

Point out that less than half the monies collected go to the charity anyway, so they may as well just do their own fundraising. Point out that the dishonest, harassing behaviour of DAM reflects VERY BADLY on the charity, and you don't want to be associated with, much less support, anyone who essentially uses strong-armed goons to do their fundraising.

If they just suggest you "opt out" of being contacted, do that, but also stick to your guns about how you won't support them any more unless they stop doing business with harassers.

Lastly: I don't believe them when they say my name is removed from this list. As this helpful website proves, they use any number of Caller ID's. My bet is, they just switch you to another list.

I called the LEUKEMIA SOCIETY at (817)273-5500 and they said that (817)273-5547 IS their dialer number and they said that they would take my number off of their list right away.

I gave $35 twice to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which hardly makes me a huge donor. they have called every day, even weekends, sometimes twice per day. I looked here and did the call-back where I could press "1" to remove me from the list. They are still calling me. Whenever I pick up the phone, no one ever picks up so I can talk to them about removing me.

I don't really know what to do. I think it's a worthwhile charity, but their fundraising is deplorable. They've sent me letters asking for more money every week and the calls keep coming. I am almost at the point where I won't donate to them because they are harassing me. And like many of the people here, I get them later at night or on weekends. This is slimy, and I never give charities my phone numbers. I am going to have my cable company that provides my phone number unlist it and I am going to start thinking about charities that waste money by bombarding people with this stuff any money.

For a week, this number calls every day, different times. No one answers when I say hello.

November 7th, 2009 Fred Feuerstein TX

Came up on the CID as "Unavailable.". If this is in fact a number for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, they are a legitimate organization. We have donated used clothing and other small home items to them before.
However, today they called, asked for my wife by name then when I said she was "...not available can I take a message." They just said "Okay" and freaking hung up on me. Didn't even bother to identify who they were. Note to LLS, if this was one of your calls, this is NOT a very public friendly way to present yourself to potential donors (especially in the caller ID/internet age when we can google your number and figure out who you are). I WILL remember this.

Got calls from 817 273-5547. When picked up, no one is there. When I called the number back, got a message that call could not be completed as dialed.

October 17th, 2009 Melissa TX

They've been calling this morning with no answer when I pick up. They are checking the responses for the best time to call my number. I get calls from them on a monthly basis and they do not stop until I pick up and say "no, we don't have any goods to donate". Looking them up on the Charity watch sites, I don't see them listed and I don't donate to phone calls. Period.

My caller ID always says OUT OF AREA, but I know the area code of 817 is Ft. Worth, Texas metroplex. Glad to find out Who Called me!

Caller ID pops up unknown caller. They have called several times today, but hang up after answer machine picks up. If they are going to call it would be nice to leave a message so people know who is calling and why. Is this for donations??? I do give to this organization, but if they aren't going to leave a message, then maybe I should stop giving since they can't seem to be professional.

calling to offer to put a home alarm system in the home at no charge. they also have people going door to door. this is crazy.. they just dont stop.
its really a scam to wire your house with wireless alarm system that in the end you will pay cellular fees to have hooked up. it runs off the verizon or sprint network.

its really not worth it.

I used the "Contact Us" via e-mail at the Leukemia and Lymphoma website to request no more calls. Hope that works. Jack has a good point about "let them call." It is stupidity. Mindless, brute force marketing. What a waste of donated money. And these big non-profits insist that their executives deserve outrageous salaries?! Unbelievable.

June 5th, 2009 Jack KY

Let the charities call. If they are stupid enough to keep calling people who want off their list, they are losing money. How? It costs $$$ to call long distance... It costs $$$ to hire someone to call me... It costs $$$ for their office space, phone system, etc. And how much money do they get from me? NOT A CENT! So, I am a liability rather than an asset. Everytime they call me they are losing money. If I owned a non-profit company, I would not call people that did not donate and wanted off my list... What they are doing is absolute stupidity.

May 12th, 2009 Harold FL

They're baaack! Now they don't answer calls to their own number to be taken off the calling list.

May 12th, 2009 Wood

I getting two or three calls a week from this peoples and I use a tty phone so I traced this nbrs thru website to find out.
It a pain cause I keep the grandbaby few days a week and I know the phone ring alert her and all I know to do is take the phone off the hook but dont wont
to do that. I have caller id and that way I called my relatives thru tty phone.
All I hope to do is they give up one of this day or make a report to Disability act law and filed complaint.

I am quite certain this is a "disguised call" - someone calls from their home, does not want you to know they are calling, and they go through a third party that disguises the origin of the call. Perfect for people having affairs. The service is called spoof card and explicitly says it's perfect for your affair to use to cover his/her call: www.spoofcard.com

March 9th, 2009 StingrayJG

If you just started receiving these calls, get ready for more. I've gotten bombarded by them in the past and they usually carpet-bomb you daily (sometimes several times daily) for several days in a row or longer. I never pick up and they never leave messages. This is not the actual Leukemia Lymphoma Society but rather some outfit of a-hole telestalkers that act on their behalf. It's happened to me before in the past and the calls usually come like a downpour of rain and then eventually stop. You may also get a caller ID of 845-790-8098 with same name or it will say "LEUKEMIA LYMPHSOC" It's the same jerks as this number, just one digit off on the phone number. Oh, and weekends mean nothing to them. They called with the 8098 ID yesterday (Sunday!) at 3:33pm and this morning using the 8097 ID at 9:16 this morning.

Home sick today 3/6/09. Phone rings at 11:34am est. I didn't recognize the caller so I didn't answer. Curious to know more about ThankYouFrmLLS - I Googled the name. I noticed that these yahoo's are using 4 different numbers but don't really get or say anything when they do answer. One respondent inquires into the cost of answering this call. Is there some ploy or trick that they are using our phone numbers for simply by answering the call or saying hello?
So far, I have only received one call. I will inform my wife so she doesn't answer the call either. But still, questions remain - What is their purpose? Is there any way to put companies/pranksters like this out of business or fined, anything?
