This number has been calling me for over a year. Never left a message, just hangs up. I called them because I got sick of it. I left my number (not name or other info). Then I got a call from a woman who told me her name was Jennifer. Somehow she had my name (but I would not verify who I was), so she refused to tell me anything other than her first name. She tried to tell me I called them and she was simply returning my call. When I stated that I have been getting hangups from this number for over a year and I was calling to tell them to never call me again, the tone of the conversation changed. She talked over me and refused to hear that I don’t want calls from this number. It's not right that someone call you, and you ask who you are and ask you to verify information about yourself - especially if they won't tell you who they are or why they are calling. Yes, I lost it on her. Called her back and Nicole(?) answered. I got the words, “Remove my..” and she hung up on me.

Engage Tel Spam Numbers
I got a call from 414 755-6411. Selling home warranties. That number led me to Choice One Communications in WI who told me the number belongs to Engage Tel, Inc in Wyoming. I looked up corp records and found out they are incorp by Gerald Pitts's firm Wyoming Corporate Services, Inc. They are Engage Tel's resident agent. Call Mr Gerald Pitts at 307-632-3333, ask for Mr Pitts and demanded that your phone never be called again. I suggest all of you call Mr Pitt's office and do the same. Their address is 2710 Thomes Ave., Cheyenne, WY 82001 for one to send legal matters to. I am still looking for a number for Engage Tel. But give Mr Pitts a call, he needs to here about his clients practices.
I found a number and name for Engage Tel Inc. He is not high on the corporate ladder. But he will remove you from the list. Apparently, these telemarketers buy lists of clients who have opted in with a company, so they can be contacted.

So call Dave with Engage Tel Inc at 415-472-5008. He can remove your number from all his clients lists.

This happened to us about a year ago, where "CCS" and about two dozen other numbers from Florida, Texas, and elsewhere started calling our residence four times a day and harrassing us about some bogus "Nicholas Thomas."
We are listed in the white pages, and we have had this same home phone number for nearly twenty years. A simple reverse look-up on the "dexknows.whitepages.com" website produces our name and home address. These low life so- called "bill collectors," if that's what they really are, are deliberately rude, they never listen, and they make absolutely no sense at all if ever you make the naive mistake of trying to talk some sense to them, such as "there is no 'Nicholas Thomas' here, nor has there ever been a 'Nicholas Thomas' at this number. So please don't call here again." These numbskulls are either bored and unscrupulous bill collectors that just like harrassing people and getting them upset, or they work for some psychological warfare division of the military. Best advice, tell them "Do not call this number again or we will report your number to the authorities." If they call again, tell them calmly, "we are going to report you to the police," then hang up immediately. And if they call again, which they probably will, tell them that "we are going to FILE A CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST THE COMPANY AND THE AGENT WITH THE STATE ATTORNEY'S OFFICE BOTH IN YOUR STATE AND THEIR STATE." (read that legal advice on another website comment.) Main thing is to remain calm and relaxed if ever you do talk to them. They are trying to upset you. Don't let them. The more belligerent they get, the calmer and more jovial you get. Start speaking nonsense to them in a happy and enthusiastic voice. Sing your "ABC's" to them. Whistle a well known song in their ear, like "When Johnny comes marching home again" etc. That's you're way of letting them know that you "got their number." IOW, you're beating them at their own game. They don't want to hear your nonsense, any more than you want to hear theirs. I did this to them last time around, talking to them all goofy and nonsensical, and it made them angry and frustrated, and they stopped calling me for a whole year, i.e. until today.

But after the last month-long harrassment ordeal from the CCI phone-clowns ad nauseam, we added caller id, call waiting and voicemail to our residential telephone service. This makes a special ringtone when incoming calls are from "toll free," "private name," and other such "spam" numbers. Blocking the rogue numbers is generally useless, because the harrassing callers usualy change the phones they are calling from. We just never answer "special ring" calls. And if they do leave a message, we simply delete the message without ever listening to it. Works like a charm. But sometimes my wife makes the mistake of picking up the phone too soon on "special ring" calls, if the tv's too loud, or if something else is distracting her. She did it today, and now it's back to the old "nicholas thomas" illegal harrassment routine. I reminded her to never pick up on "special ring" calls under any circumstances. And just let the unsolicited home-intrusion criminals eat static. IOW, just ignore them completely and never answer the phone or speak to them no matter how many times they try to call you.

I spoke to a person at 877-646-7319 who took my phone number to have it removed from the caller's list. She said the request will be forwarded directly to the client and to please allow 1-2 business days to process. I was told my phone number would not be sold or used to call the consumer back, it is only used to identify a phone number that should no longer be called. What she said made sense, "it is not worth the callers time or effort to call someone who does not want to be called, it will only cause problems". I asked her about One Communication and she said they could do the same as they would forward the complaint and request not to be called to her so calling 877-646-7319 would be the quickest most efficient & effective way to stop the calls.

November 18th, 2009 Cindy CA

I called One Communication who heard my complaint. She forwarded my complaint and request not to be called because I got a voicemail later apologizing for the calls I've received on behalf of their client and said they would have them remove my phone number from their caller's list.

Got the call last night, political message about healthcare, so I hung up. Since we are on the do not call list, and unlisted, I got curious and called the number back. Automated message with 'opt out by pressing #2'. The line goes dead if you do nothing. So, I went to the web and found 'Sarah's' post below...on hundreds of pages similar to this one, for many different numbers, but all related to robo-calling or spam calling. Anyway, I called the '877-646-7319' number, and someone named, "Debbie" with "Telco Mgmt" answered the phone. After a brief conversation she stated that she simply 're-sells' the phone numbers they receive from the phone company and she has no way to control over what happens with that number once they sell it. I persisted and she said that she could email her boss about my complaint, when I asked to speak to her boss directly, she declined. She kept asking for my number, which I refused to give her (I blocked the number from my end).

After a few more clicks, it appears that the number is assigned to: US Xchange of Wisconsin LLC DBA Choice One Communications Inc. A lot of the hits I'm getting from searches are for phone numbers assigned to this carrier. I'm going to try and contact them today to sort this out and will post a follow up after that. This is all very shady.

This number has been calling constantly even after I selected my name be removed from their list. I chose to speak with a customer service agent to ask them to remove me from the list. The operator identified himself as Scott. When I told him I was not interested, he said how the f**k could you not be interested. I asked to speak with a supervisor and he said I am in charge. I am you daddy b**ch. I was very upset. Who do these people think they are? I guess when you have no education and are just some lowed payed phone jockey, you will do anything to feel important.

November 11th, 2009 Sarah CA

If you don't pickup the phone call, their auto dialer will most likely call back again later. In order to not receive anymore calls, you simply need to follow the prompts to remove your phone number from the callers list while on the original phone call or call back the caller's phone number. If that doesn't work for you after 2 business days of your request not to be called and/or if you'd like to speak to a live person call 307-223-0458 or 877-646-7319. I did it and it worked.

Or you could pay your bills and not have to deal with phone calls anymore... now there's a thought. Avoiding or hanging up on the phone calls will do nothing for you but get you sued in the long run. Your debt is STILL debt no matter how long ago you got the loan. People who owe money, you know who you are.... it's time to take responsibility.

September 30th, 2009 slime detective TX

People who call with ID supressed are up to no good. Your freinds don't mask their ID. You don't have to answer the phone these bastards know that they hide their idenity in hopes you will answer. In this economt there arn't enough attorneys or court time to collect all the debts. These bastards are hoping to squeeze a little to add to what the government has already given their client of your money. Don't pay don't answer. tear up their letters. Buy a box like mine. It won't let masked ID calls or area codes of known collectors through. It gives them the phone company recording that they hace called a non working number and to check their number and try again.. After a while the sons of biches bug someomne else.

September 26th, 2009 business owner CA

I recently established a new business phone line - and these guys have been calling it almost daily, looking for someone I've never heard of. I've tried to be patient and "stay on the line to speak to a representative", but I get put on terminal hold. Sorry, but I have work to do, so I hang up after a few minutes.

Hey, SCI - you guys seem to read and react to these posts - how 'bout posting on here how to get you to stop calling a number that has nothing to do with you? I'll gladly provide proof of when I obtained the number, so you can tell you have no reason to be calling me. Quite frankly, I'm tired of getting your pre-recorded calls on my brand-new business line. I've tried to speak to someone, but I am not going to stay on hold forever.

I do suggest you post a way to handle this situation, because if these calls continue, I'll be seeking legal representation to come at you for unwarranted harrasment. Since you're tieing up my business line, I'll look at restraint of trade as well.

I know people will go to great lengths to avoid you, but at the same time... not every number you call is valid, guys - and you neeed to own up to it!

September 18th, 2009 ljb WA

Said she was Janice Smith, told her the person she asked for was not available. She said she would call back after I asked if she wished to leave a message. Quite polite. The person she asked for does not owe any debt and has no credit cards so have no idea what they are looking for. Since no message was left requesting a call back and the caller id was marked private name, any future calls just won't be answered or the number will be blocked.

So I wish I would have actually talked to the bitch that said she could help me... I doubted it at the time. I called the number back, and YES, it IS about something I owe. HOWEVER...their skip tracers managed to get my NEW phone number...but couldn't figure out a new address. Found THAT odd. And they managed to send it to an address I haven't had for OVER 10 years. Now, the ORIGINIAL creditor that they claim they're working on behalf of had a newer address than this. Hmmm...sounds suspect. I've attempted to email 5 addresses about the issue...all came back to me. Attempted to FAX the email I wrote...they wouldn't go through. Left voicemails last night for Richard Sleeth and Jim Stewart. Doubt they'll help either. Filed a complaint with the FTC about the bullying I experienced and the fact that the woman told me it was MY responsibility to get my mail forwarded. I told her I did...from my LAST address. She wouldn't hear it. Chances are, if you have a 10 year old address for me...I'm not going to be getting mail forwarded from it...genius. I want to pay this bill off since I know I owe it...but when they won't cooperate with me...it makes it difficult. So for anyone that works for this bunch of crooks and says you "work with people"...don't lie.

July 17th, 2009 FYI WA

Directly from FDCPA:

804. Acquisition of location information
Any debt collector communicating with any person other than the consumer for the purpose of acquiring location information about the consumer shall—
(1) identify himself, state that he is confirming or correcting location information concerning the consumer, and, only if expressly requested, identify his employer;
(2) not state that such consumer owes any debt;
(3) not communicate with any such person more than once unless requested to do so by such person or unless the debt collector reasonably believes that the earlier response of such person is erroneous or incomplete and that such person now has correct or complete location information;

This is why in voice mails or asking you to pass on a message they WILL NOT EVER disclose information. They are held responsible for each and every mistake.

This place rarely leaves me any messages, at least not with a live person when they do. So interesting to read all the posts in this thread. Wow. Sure looks like SCI found this site, and are all pissy (and ignorant). Most people who aren't paying their debts aren't exactly sitting around laughing that they screwed X company--they're usually trying desperately to generate more income, and catch up with their obligations. Shit happens. They USED to be able to pay the debt, but with the jobs/economy/real estate market the way it is, it's no secret that a crazy amount of people today are fricking broke.

keep calling me for a credit card bill which a settlement was reached and agreed to by the credit card company. Sentry is the second debt collector to buy this same debt (which I might add, the statute of limitations was up on a good two years ago) This is called Zombie debt. If I would pay them they might make $300 dollars on the deal. Since I have been putting off Sentry for about 6 months now, I am assuming they have pretty much used in labor and effort what they would have made if I would've agreed to pay this illegitimate debt. Sentry participates in "zomie debt" c collection"

Here is a good article explaining if you dont know: www.scambusters.org
Here are some practices zombie debt collectors use:
Suing over debts even after the statute of limitations has expired.
"Re-aging" debts on consumer credit reports illegally.
Promising that a payment will remove a black mark from the consumer's credit report.
Bait and switch credit cards.
Verbally abusing consumers and making repeated phone calls even after they were requested to stop. This violates federal law.

The best way to protect yourself from unfair zombie debt collection is to know your rights. Each state places a statute of limitations on old debts. Once the debt passes that limit a company can't take you to court and can't place a mark on your credit report. The dates can be extended, however, if a court judgment is rendered against you.

After close to 100 calls from this company, I called the 18006082581 number and spoke with Leah and Adam Richards (manager). I was less than friendly and after getting treated like I was a criminal I was a bit vulgar. They didn't like that. They eventually kept hanging up on me and putting me on hold. They apparently have someone that has the same name as be but isn't me and has a different SSN. They even accused me of harassing them after I called them back like 5 times. I said no, you are harassing me!!!! Just FYI....sound like a legit company, just with a bunch of dipshits working there.

October 25th, 2008 KMA WA

We do send out letters, now obviously some of you can't read or you would know that you owe this and call us back to make arrangements. We do have a legal department in our company that ensures we follow the law to a T. We also DO NOT BUY debt, from any of the creditors. As a 3rd party collection agency.we are hired to collect on their behalf. Many times the original creditor will have no record if you call as they have charged-off the debt to place it in collections. If you have someone calling the wrong number very easily call the number back and inform them. Its that simple, if you are unwilling to do that, then most likely its not the wrong number. Iwould rather help a single mother of 2 working, working full-time settle out her debt for fifty cents on the dollar any day, then seeing the company recall the account and proceed with judgement. Believe me if you called half the people who have settled out or paid out their accounts we were more than willing to work with them. We are human too, so when people call or are completely rude yes sometimes, we are too. Sorry about that. But it happens. Just like something happened in your life where you now owe the debt and are getting these calls. Its part of being a responsible adult, sucking it up and realizing you incurred this debt. Now it's time to do something about it and move on already.

October 25th, 2008 KMA WA

Wow. This cracks me up. For everyone who says we call them 5x a day and late at night, impossible. 1. We have a computer system that notes how many times we call a certain number; 2. We are off by 6p.m., which per FDCPA we are allowed to call until 9 p.m. every night. Also, for those who say you cannot call on the weekends or Sundays, get a clue. Business transactions occur on the weekends too. Plus, as for Sunday being a holy day etc. yes it is, but if you really were God fearing people, you would have read the Bible where it says one should not incur debt. Yes, we will not disclose personal information to those who will not verify some part of there information. Would you want everyone else knowing your business?

Agressive 3rd party collection company. Actually sent text message to my cell phone with message "Call Me" with no further message. Wasted my cell phone minutes. Also known to call relatives and neibors to track down debtors. They buy old debts and make a business of trying to harass debtors to pay. Be aware that most states have SOL time limits as to how old the debt is expires as an "un sueable debt" You can check your states time limit on
www.cardreport.com Most states are 2 to 4 years from last defaulted payment. Also be aware that if you send them any payment your SOL restarts.

They called about a collection we didn't even know about; we pay all of our bills ontime one slipped thru the cracks they called in June about this 235 debt. I called my attorney he said to pay it to the original creditor paid the original creditor the day after calling my attorney. The lady Brandy said that we would never hear from her again because it was paid, just last week they called again asking when it was going to be paid;; I told them it was already paid to the original creditor and faxed them a copy of the payment; they have called everyday since. We went online checked our credit neither the original debt is on our reports or them, but they keep calling wanted to know when it is going to be paid. They do not know there ass from there elbows. I do not understand why they keep calling about something that has already been paid. I even told them they can call my attorney and gave them the number they keep calling now I just ignore the call. I understand that shit happens and it was paid but these people are idiots!

I have waited almost 10 years to pay back some of my largest debts. Now the bill collectors send me bills only wanting half of my original debt. So I have noticed if you hold out long enough you will pay less.
I also tell bill collectors to go ahead and increase the amount I owe maybe even double it, That will make me want to pay it back sooner right? Not!

September 4th, 2008 To Bill Collec.

Well these people need to talk to US Bank then like I did because they claim I own US Bank & according to US Bank they have no record of it. And if you think we are stupid enough to believe they collect "on behalf" of US Bank then listen up...collection agencies BUY old accounts from companies for pennies on the dollar THEN call up and try to get the original amount. And the original creditor writes it off as "bad debt" & takes a tax break on it. AND they work on commission...soooo the more money you shell out to the morons the more money they get. So of course they are going to harass and intimidate to get their pay. Not fair to us but that is how they operate. So SCI and all the others, get a clue. your tactics dont work most of the time. unless you find someone who believes you are a threat when you're not.

For the record, I don't have a common last name, so it's unlikely that they are trying to find someone with the same name. So, while it could be that for some, rest assured that they are using some other methods as well. Perhaps it's the person who had the phone # prior to you, or they have your forwarding info. and they are looking for a former roommate, etc. So, it's not just a case of mistaken identity. And again, even if they know the person they're looking for doesn't reside at your number, they keep calling anyways. They must get paid by number of calls made or connected or something.

August 23rd, 2008 Jessica

These people are idiots. They started calling 2 days ago, every half-hour, starting at 8:15 AM. Which apparently they CAN call that early, although I thought telemarketers were limited to 9-9. Anyways, whoever they were looking for, does not live here, and that was established with the guy on the other end of the phone. After verifying our names were not even in his database, he tried to ask for a social security #. No way! So, he claimed that he would report the number to his supervisor and have it taken off their calling list. That was at 9:20 on Thursday. Friday morning, they were back to calling at 8:15 am again. I just had to block the call. Since then, I've gotten a few "Unknown Callers" on my caller id, so it could be them.

Bottom line, even if they know you are not a customer, and they tell you they will stop calling, they will continue to call. I'm on my way to report them to the DNC list.

We don't buy debt by the way, we collect it for the original lender. The reason we get frustrated when you ask us to prove it is because we have already sent you information. Nobody handles your personal business like you do, and since you already know you owe the debt.. we shouldn't have to jump through hoops to prove it to you. It's irritating. Get it together people!

I also get calls from this number several times a week. At first, they left messages as if they were a "friend." Little do they know that I have no friends and do not give this number out to anyone. Since it's obvious that the collectors read these forums, let me inform you of my situation. I was forced to resign from a good job when I became ill and had to apply for disability. I had worked hard for 20+ years and had a good credit rating before I became ill. My only income now is a small disability check, which barely covers my utilities and a little food. My attorney advised me that I do not have to talk to anyone calling about any outstanding debt and if I receive anything re. going to court, etc., to contact her and she will assist me with the matter. I just want to remind these collectors that not every person is a lazy deadbeat trying to ripoff the system. Sometimes there are circumstances beyond our control. I never imagined that I would be unable to work at this time in my life. I had worked full-time while obtaining a college degree and thought I was going to have a successful career. My illness has robbed me of everything. Now I not only suffer from my illness, but also from severe depression and hopelessness due to my inability to provide for myself and my family.

You would think they would want to contact the actual person they are looking for but nooo they spend quality time harassing the wrong number. Listen, jerky, you'd make a lot more money if you bothered to call the right people in the first place.

July 4th, 2008 Liz

Calls stating that my husband needs to call back ASAP. The thing is, my husband works 12-hour shifts at his family's business (so much for their ideas that we're all lazy!). He is not home to call durring their hours, and can't call from work. We fell into very hard times, which makes me feel guilty because it's mostly my fault- I have a pain disorder, and physically can't work a normal job. Having companies that charge 30-40% interest does not help a debt situation. We have had no choice and are working with a lawyer to declare bankrupcy. The good news out of this is that we've learned to live WITHOUT credit, paying cash from my husband's paychecks for everything, not even taking money when family offers. When we get through this, we know that we don't need credit cards to pay for food or for gas. In this way, I think we're lucky, because many people can't ever do this.
So, everyone out there that has problems with collection agencies- wait until you can see light at the end of the debt tunnel, no matter how you find it! Once you see it, it makes everything better again. Life goes back to normal. And maybe one day the phone will stop ringing off the hook every day.
Question, if anyone knows it: Can a company send a debt to two or three collection agencies at once? Is that legal? Because multiple companies have contacted us for a singular debt, at the same time. Which one has it? They can't both try to collect on it! There's got to be something wrong there...

June 26th, 2008 ex-employee OH

I'm not gonna lie...a lot of collectors are jerks and have no idea what they are talking about. But not all of them. you also should see what they deal with day in and day out. Anyways, my point is, when i worked there just about everyone i worked with thanked me to no end on helping them to come up with a resolution. It's not all about taking your money with no regard to you. If you take the time to call a collector back and tell them what's up its remember. and vice versa. you piss them off and it's hell from there no doubt. But just keep to your word and they cant expect much more. As for the people who believe you are not the debtor, call them and make it very clear that you do not know this person and they take you off the list. You don't have to be rude. I'm not an advicate for collection agencies bc iknow what goes on and I would never do the job again but if you act like a civilized human being all is well. And for those of you that are the debtors and say they have no proof, pull up your contract. when you sign it talks about the expenses from collection agencies and interest and what not. and most of the time, they'll give you a settlement. As for lawsuits go, they can imply legal action. but SCI in specific can not threaten it. It's the client that has to push it. In the FDCPA it says, legal action can not be threatened unless legal to take and intended to take. SCI has no legal dept. But it can be returned to the client with a recomendation to sue. But everyone will b better off if you read the FDCPA.

So This number starts calling me while I'm sleeping (I work nights) but they never leave a message. So I call the number and get the voicemail followed by an operator who directs my call to the twilight zone. So after listening to their automated phone system tell me how helpful and professional they are for 20 minutes I finally give up in disgust.

But now I know who they are so I call the one and only company or business who could have possibly sent me to collections. My doctor. His receptionist says no, my account is not in collections and paid up current (zero balance) but to be sure she gives me the number to their billing service who confirms they haven't turned my account over for collections because it's paid in full and I have a zero balance.

So I google 'em and find this board.

Clearly trolls from this company skank around on this board so for you SCI employees...I say screw ya. If it's a solicit for information on anyone other than me you ain't getting squat from me. If it's about me, send a notice. Either way I just want to say to the SCI kids that NOT EVERYONE who accesses this website is some kind of credit skip and your clearly contemptuous attitudes on this board clearly indicates you're neither professional or out to help folks repair their credit as the endless loops on your phone system claim.

IF GETTING ON HERE AND BASHING MY CO-WORKERS MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER, THAT MAKES YOU PRETTY LOW. WE UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE GO THROUGH HARD TIMES, AS HAVE MANY OF US. First of all, to everyone who has been bitching about us not paying our debts, fuck off, you have no right to tell us anything unless you know our situations. We are trying to resolve debt that we incurred while starting a business which has been less than profitable in our location, we are working with our creditors whenever possible to pay our debts, and are being helped by a law firm who specialize in just that. That being said, we were contacted by a Mr. Jeremy Ocean, who of course would not disclose for whom he was working, regarding a legal matter. When I asked on who's behalf he was persuing this matter, he said it was his own, and since I've never met, nor harmed Mr. Ocean, of course I was inclined to be suspicious. After a bit of research, I of course discovered that they were a collection agency, and attempted to call Mr. Ocean back with a contact number for our lawyer, at which time he responded "And what the hell are they going to do about it, they can't do anything to me, and they can't do anything about this." at which time, I hung up the phone and called my lawyer directly. I understand that these companies want their money, and as I stated, I'm willing to pay, and working towards that, but such rudeness is completly uncalled for. If this is the way that SCI trains all their employees, I hope that someone files a harassment suit against them, so that we can all sleep better at night.

Always verify the debt note. If there is no debt note with their name on it (which isn't likely), then tell them thanks for paying your alleged debt, and to stop calling, and if they continue calling, on the third time tell them not to call again or you'll use the fair debt collection practices act against them.

They basically are hitting in the dark- guessing who these delinquent people are and thats why so many people are receiving calls- for example if have the name john they are going to try anyone with the names Jon, Jonathon, Jone, etc... poor practice and not getting the info right and calling totally innocent people and harassing them for debts they don't owe. Then they try to fish information from you to see if they have the right person. Very shady business practice!

On my voice mail...call from 425-257-9500... Male voice: "Michael" (which is not my name) "I need you to call me back as soon as possible. This is Mike Frost at 800-608-2581 x 3614." When I returned the call the automated system just says "sentry" and asks for you to enter an extension number. Mike Frost's voice mail was at x3614. I left a message asking to cease and desist via phone. Any issue should be sent by letter. (I am sure he is trying to use me to find someone else)

This telephone number leads to a company called Cardworks servicing LLC in Woodbury New York. They provide card support including collections to many banks. they are also the parent company of Merric Bank. thye provide collections support to First bank of Delaware, E-duction, clear MasterCard, Hooters credit card and First premier bank among many others.. The call several usually about 12 times a day and harass you. they never leave a message and are almost impossible to contact back to inquire who they are but a little digging can help discover who they are. They often hang up on you if you do answer the call. Most likely they just mark on a log that they called to show that you are unresponsive to the debt they do this to bill the bank of which they represent. The ask for personally identifying information such as social security number to access an account. they handle so many differnt banks as a third party servicer that they don't know who you are when you call back and use this information to locate you within their system of banks and then and only then they will identify themselves ususaly as a repesentitive of the bank that you account is with instead of the servicer which is Cardworks servicing LLC.

2) My husband and I pay all of our bills, we own a home and both of of our cars are paid off. And no, they're not 1980 Hyundai's either. We pay all of our bills, including credit cards. We both have jobs that we have held for 13+ years. So please don't try and tell me to pay my bills, get off my ass or anything of the sorts.

3) We have been receiving nasty, harassing phone calls from several different agencies because we happen to have the same last name as someone they are looking for in the same town.

Why should we have to put up with this BS? I am sick and tired of telling them that they are calling the wrong people. So now I have had enlist the services of my attorney to call and write them to have them cease and desist because I refuse to change our phone number that we have had for 13 or so years.

Maybe you should get back to work and earn that $6.00 an hour that these lowlifes are paying you and stop worrying about what people are posting on this site. Have you ever heard of the First Amendment? Oh wait, probably not...I forgot who I was speaking to for a moment. Heard of it? HA! You can't even spell it!

January 21st, 2008 Anonymous CT

I have a few things to say:

1) Apparently a high school diploma is not a requirement to work for a collection agency. All of you who work for collection agencies that have posted on this site have atrocious spelling and grammar! Your parents should be ashamed that they allowed you to grow up to become such bottom feeding losers. How can you expect anyone to take you seriously when you can't tell the difference between the words "Their" and "There". Perhaps you should see if your town offers an "English as a second language" course. It may do you some good.

They are pursuing me too. I come from a collections background. There are databases collection agencies can legally access that will show most recent addresses & phones (even cell phones) if you use the phone to file for any sort of credit or update any exiting accounts of any kind. Banks, auto loans, credit cards, even utilities. In essence it's the personal information from your credit report without any of the credit information. The reports actually show relatives & nearby neighbors! Scary but legal. However the agency must be very careful how it uses & disseminates the information as they get your SS# too. True fact, I used to run said reports for two agencies. Best to research your state's statute of limitaions for unsecured debt. If that time has expired, you cannot be sued for the debt. Delaware is 3 years, for instance. You can tell them to cease & desist the debt will never paid. They can legally report to the credit bureau, but most agencies don't. Quite probably the original creditor has anyway. Also, I believe that these guys probably buy the bad debt for pennies on the dollar. They are not the 1st agency to chase me for the same creditor & buying already written off bad debt (2nd & 3rd collection attempts) is a very common practice. I hope this helps

As you enter a comment on this site it says just above where you are typing "Comments on Calls from 425-257-9500." You bill collectors with the nasty comments obviously didn't get a call from this number so you don't belong here. And your nasty comments illustrate part of the problem people are complaining about-most of you have shown yourself to be real jerks with alot of incorrect assumptions about why people get behind on their debt. If you weren't such jerks you might have the common sense to realize that all sorts of bad things happen to good people that throw their finances into a tailspin.

This happened to me a few years back when I was the victim of an armed robbery and fired three shots at the robber (I had a handgun permit). I was suspended from my job for over a year while the State's Attorney's office took its time deciding I had done nothing wrong, and went back to work. I got behind and worked with 4 companies that I had delinquent debt with, some were great, but a few of the people were real jerks. I have no delinquent debt now and should not be getting calls from this company.

Bill just to let you know not all the debt is bought big guy.

Sometimes these companies just want there money back that you have borrowed from them, is that a bad thing to ask for?

December 11th, 2007 bill

This is illegal. I wish I had a recording of the phone call so I could hand it over to my lawyer and sue their ass. Just remember they bought your debt for about 8 cents per dollar. So for every 1k you owe they paid 80 bucks (10,000 worth of debt... only 800 bucks they paid)...they will do whatever it takes to get money. Make sure you have everything in writting before you do anything. Ask for transcrips of the phone calls so if anything happens they cant say you said something that you did not say. Be calm, take a deep breath. Dont get mad or rude and if they start to say anything that upsets you, simply hang up. Dont say the Y-word ever. And there are a lot of websites that tell you exactly what your rights for your state are...read them. Read them again. Print them out and put them near the phone and when the debt collection people call, mark off all the things you need to do along with all the laws they violated.

December 11th, 2007 bill

I went and got a lawyer right away and I ended up not having to pay any of the fees or intrest and I only ended up paying a few bucks of what I started out oweing (I owed just over $300, because they buy your debt for so little I ended up paying about $30 and they had to say amend my crdit reports to include that they wrongly took me to collections.). I would recomend getting a lawyer or at least talking to one (the 1st meeting is usually free and if they cant help you they would tell you). So now I am 26...8 years after I missed one payment on my credit card (since then I have never missed any payments. Ever.), yet I get a call from SCI and they lady wont tell me what company she works for and gets mad when I wont say yes durring the phone call. I ask her to send me the paper work and she hangs up. They are actually trying to collect the rest of the money I had owed back when I was 18.

December 11th, 2007 bill

In fact avoid the y-word like you'd die if you said it. Digital recording can place that yes anywhere in the conversation...plus you have nothing to prove otherwise (only your word and thats not worth much in cort). Some others have said make a complaint with the FCC...umm just so you know its the FTC (fedral Trade Commission) who watches and regulates debt collecters. Your complint will hold more weight if you find something the debt collecters have done wrong, instead of just that they are rude or lie about who they are. Also avoid the y-word because sometimes they try to collect on old debts who have droped passed the point of collection. Like I live in CA, credit card debts can no longer be collected after two years. I was 18 and I missed a payment on my credit card on accidnt. I was sent stright to debt collection because of my age and the fact I only had the card 6 months.

December 11th, 2007 Bill

You can fill out a cease and desist order to force these people to stop calling you. If you owe the money you'll have to end up paying them (at least part), but it will stop the phone calls. Some of you stated that they said they called before, when they have not. That is just so they dont have to send you any paper work. Most states they are required by law to send you stuff in writing (different "stuff" by different states) 5 days after they 1st make contact with you. So if they say on the phone they have called you before and you say yes or anything like it they wont have to send you the papers. If they ask for you by name, dont say yes, say something like "thats me."

Whether the creditor can garnish your wages, seize your bank account or house depends entirely on the state you live in. In Texas, the creditor can sue you, but even with a judgment, the creditor CANNOT garnish any wages, seize your bank account or house. The only reason wages can be garnished in Texas is for child support, federally backed student loans, and alimony (which is very rare to even receive in Texas). So, cease and desist letters are good to use if you live in a state like Texas. The high and mighty people who say "just pay your bills" don't realize that things happen and when your bill went from $300 to $2000 because of interest, late fees, etc. and your choice is shelter or food for my child or pay the credit card-I guess you would choose pay the credit company?? Everyone thinks that way until something tragic happens to them (i.e. lose job, medical emergency, care for an elder parent, etc.), then they realize that dire situations require difficult choices. The other problem is that they won't work out a reasonable payment plan and/or will keep adding excessive interest and late fees so that it is never paid off. If someone didn't have the money to pay the original payments, why would you think they now have the money to pay 65% of $2000?!?!

December 4th, 2007 William Buckly OH

SCI can't sue and won't unless their specific client authorizes them to and even IF they did they would have to find an attorney in the state in which you legally reside ( being that they are located in Washington). Ultimately they can't do shit and won't. There is a reason that debts go uncollect for years, companies don't want to spend money on attorneys (cause they're damn pricey) on every tom, dick and harry out there. Instead its easier to pay these people to bully you. And for the bitches from said company posting on this website. Not everyone is irresponsible, many people fall on hard times and use their credit cards or whatever to help them through it, then they get stuck with said debt and are unable to pay it without putting themselves back into financial hardship. So, I say to Sentry "Go fuck yourself". And to everyone else, file for bankruptcy. Its easier , cheaper and your credit will recover quickly once its done.

November 24th, 2007 collections

thats right, you debtor keep putting off your responsibilities of paying your debt, thats right - your debt, you signed the contract or borrowed the money, and now it's time to pay them back, this is your responsibility as an american citizen. Collection company work with debtor to help resolve their debt, they collection millions of dollars for their clients and are paid hansomly in return. But I'll tell you this, this job is very rewarding but difficult and at the same time, there is alot of investigating you debtor, weather we are able to get you on the phone or not, your debt is due. Our clients,
after recovering an asset investigation against you, can take you to court and get the money that is owed to them. So if your not going to pay back our clients, and your not going to take responsibility for
your actions, then get ready to pay a hell of a lot more. Go ahead and & listen to the fools that were sued and have judgements against them and wages garnished to boot. This is something a hell of a lot worse then just having debt, this can stay with you for up to 20 yrs
think about that when a collector is trying to help you to resolve your debt.

Well, SCI called me for the 4th or 5th time tonight. Asking for someone that don't live here, someone I have no idea who they are, never heard of them either. How many times do they have to be told, so and so don't live here at this number. Anyone ever thought that whoever maybe has given them the wrong number and it's YOUR number? I refuse to talk to anyone that has no commone manners and is rude; especially when they are asking for someone that I have no idea who it is they are asking for. You try to be nice, but NO they have to get an attitude. DIAL TONE BABES, DIAL TONE!

My airhorn works wonders, especially after having to tell SCI many times over that person (whoever) does NOT LIVE HERE and I DO NOT KNOW THEM. I owe ONE bill that's a mortgage and it's paid on time EACH MONTH.

There's no reason to be ignorant and not read your rights, just take a look at the FDCPA.

what is with you dead beat debtors that think you can steal money from banks and never have to pay them back. this is called first degree robery and you shouldn't be able to get away with this, oh ya that right you wont get a way with it because if you dont deal with it now you can deal with it up to 10 years of your life, you can be sued and get judgements against you, your wages can be garnished, you can have your bank accounts seized, or they can put liens against your property, they can even take your assest so dont deal with the agency now and possible take advantage of a settlement out of court for alot less than you owe from these agencies, just dont pick up the phone, just ignor the letters sent to you in the mail, let your debts sit & collect out-rages additional charges and interest penalties before you start taking care of it so the governments can help take your money later, and there wont be any settlement later, you'll owe it all, total debt, extra fees, penalties, court cost and attorney fee and any other fees applied to your balance that has only gotten higher and higher and higher......

I took the advise of people on this sight and sent them a CEASE AND DESIST. The next thing I know I get a knock at the door and a process server hands me a SUMMONS AND COMPLAINT. Now they're sueing me. It turns out, when I cut off their ability to call me and work something out amicably, the only recourse they had left was to sue me. Now, I lost the opportunity to settle the debt for 65% of the balance and I'm being sued for the whole thing plus attorneys fees, court costs, and filing fees. I'm going to have a judgment against me and then they can garnish my wages, seize my bank account, and put a lien against my house. Man, am I stupid for listening to all the losers on this site. HANDLE YOUR FINANCES LIKE THE ADULTS THAT YOU ARE... I GOT A CALL FROM THEM TODAY AND THEY ARE HELPING ME WORK OUT MY CREDIT ISSUES. I REALLY NEEDED IT BECAUSE IM IN ROUTE TO FINALLY BUY A HOUSE, RATHER THAN PAY RENT.

I NEED TO GET OUTTA THIS APARTMENT I HAVE BEEN LIVING IN, THE BAD PART OF TOWN WITH MY 3 KIDS FOR 3 YEARS.

IF THEY HADNT CALLED ME THEN I WOULD STILL BE AVOIDING MY DEBTS AND NOT FACING THEM HEAD ON!!!

GROW UP PEOPLE AND TAKE RESPONS FOR YOUR ACTIONS!

Someone called looking for someone who doesn't live here but was persistant. It is a hassle but come on, people who owe legitamitely money and skip out are PARASITES! Own up to responsibility, "Anonymous" below who was called by Stacy. I hope they find you and put you under the jail.

I saw their number on Caller I.D. looked it up on the internet and saw it was Sentry Credit. I called them three times trying to find out why they called. Twice I was sent to voice mail, once I was put on hold and hung up on.

Harrassing calls from this number on a daily basis on my father's line. He is elderly and does not need this abuse. Besides, the calls aren't even for him.

This company called my residence looking for my next door neighbor ask my wife to give her a message to call them. Kinda makes me laugh a little Cause I dont really care for the b@#$H next door but I dont think Ill embarrass her by giving her the message. But I really think its pretty low and slimy of the credit agency to bother me, an innocent bystander.

They are harassing me & my husband night and day. We are retired. We have been retired for several years. We moved here a few years ago and bought this farm and paid cash from our IRA money. The people were wanting to move to Alaska in a hurry...?? Anyone they sold to us at ridiculous low price and we took it. It seems these people might be looking for them... thats all I can figure. My husband and always saved every penny and paid in cash. NO CREDIT FOR US.
Thanks. Please stop these calls...they even call late at night.
