If you see this phone number on your call I.D., do not answer. These are crooks, identity theft scammers, posing as a collection agency. If you don't pick up the phone and talk to them, you can't have a problem. If they call you more than once, pick up, then hang up immediately. That gets the message across. These crooks know if they can't talk to you it doesn't make sense to keep calling. Identity theft crook, nothing more nothing less.

These people have been harassing my mother. I don't know how they got my name and my mother's number. Thank God other people are reporting them. When I called them they said there was some kind of Verizon account and they wanted my social security number. I have no accounts with Verizon either.

This company calls and won't even tell me what they are calling for until I give them husband social security number. I told them that I will not be giving out his social for anyone that will not identify themselves. The guy yells at me and says he just told me he is with DRS. My husband takes the phone and the guy asks him for his social, and that did NOT end well. The guy hung up on my husband. We both tried to call back a couple more times to find out what the nature of their business is. The woman I spoke to when I called, just yelled at me and said I was lying about the guy before her yelling and cursing at me. The guy my husband spoke to when he called wanted his social before telling him the business and when my husband said no, the guy hung up. I have read that this company is trying to get missing information from people to sell their identities. Please beware of anyone that calls you and won't tell you what they are calling for.

Walker, you've been on these database sites long enough to know it's not always that simple. Screening through Caller ID is not always possible if the display is nowhere near the user at the first ring, or the user has a vision impairment, or there are circumstances which make such screening unfeasible.

I had such a problem when I was the phone traffic manager for dozens of health care workers and other service providers during the weeks my mother was dying. Most of the calls were from mobile phones or dialed through dispatchers, and sent next to nothing for CID data. Because there was never time to waste, I had no choice but to suspend the house rules on call screening.

NightRaider, No one can ''get the message'' which you have not given. An autodialer is not capable of taking hints. It doesn't need coffee breaks or sick leave and it doesn't care how pissy you feel. If you want the calls to halt at the source, you have to actually make direct contact as I've discussed here prior.

September 22nd, 2012 Cherryl Walker LA

If there is one mantra that should be posted at every site where people complain about spam phone calls, this is it:

Get Caller ID. If you don't recognize the name or number, don't answer the call. Simple.

September 22nd, 2012 NightRaider TX

Why are you people answering the phone at all? Can't you look at a toll free number or any long distance number and know immediately it's no one you do business with? I let my voice mail pick it up. After calling me a dozen times they move on to more fertile fields. If I am in a pissy mood, I will punch the green answer button, wait two seconds and press the red hang up button. After a few rounds like this they get the message and stop calling. It's no fun if they can't talk to a human being.

September 7th, 2012 Resident 43 CO

I have had several of these calls. My Caller ID says DRS Technology. Whee! Since I dont know anyone from that number or can get any info on that number, I let my Fax machine answer! Oh Goodie. Let them have fun with the screeching of my fax machine. Thats FUN!!!

Ms. Taylor, ''they will not stop'' because you persist in making verbal demands. It's the policy of lawbreaking debt collectors across the industry to assume you are a liar until you give an answer which gets one paid. Again, get off the phone and get on a paper trail, as I have explained here eleven months ago.

"This is Nancy Miller... blah blah blah... do me a favor (yeah, ok) and give me a call back..." DRS terroristic junk debt collector. Rude, arrogant, UNPROFESSIONAL. Even if I DID owe a debt to someone (which I don't) I wouldn't give them a dime, just because of how they conduct themselves. Hey, Nancy Miller... Do ME a favor, and suck my d1ck!

Ace, you don't need a valid debt or a derogatory trade line on your credit reports to be hassled by debt collectors. They call third parties to alleged debtors all the time for permitted skip tracing purposes, or often pretending it's a trace to annoy and shame an intended target whose location is already known. I've already discussed an effective plan to end misfired collection calls six months ago.

As for Joe's lament, it seems my Jan 2011 comment needs repeating. Naturally your federal DNC registration ''does not seem to matter'', because it doesn't. The DNC program serves only to augment Telemarketing Sales Rule enforcement. When you register, the DNC site nudges you three times to understand that and points you to this FTC web page:

Q&A: The National Do Not Call Registry
www.ftc.gov

Ms. Harrington, the same issue of privacy I touched on three comments behind yours applies to your very common complaint. Debt collectors who are reluctant to give up details are obeying the FDCPA while they aren't certain the person said to owe is speaking. Verifying SSN is the quickest way to clear that hurdle, though usually less sensitive data such as a street address can be enough to make a satisfactory records match. That said, you're not required to offer anything over the phone. Avoiding such verbal duels is one reason I keep harping on the use of a paper trail.

The secrecy is meant to keep them out of hair-triggered lawsuits for privacy breaches, and a direct result of the landmark court case ''Foti v. NCO''. It's that decision which gave us all those silly recorded demands to ''stop listening to this unless you are who we think you are''.

''Nancy Miller'' is noted hundreds of times in this thread, and the acronym is indeed DRS, reportedly for Debt Recovery Solutions. ''Nancy'' is likely a house alias belonging to no actual person. What you heard was a ''Foti message'', a tiptoe around the need to maintain an alleged debtor's privacy while trying to coax that person (ostensibly) from hiding.

July 3rd, 2012 Anonymous IL

I received a call from a Toll Free number of 800-851-9631 at 3:30pm on 7/2/12. It was a recorded message from a person named Nancy Miller from BRS or DRS, not sure since it was pretty much mumbled. It did state before the beginning of her message "If this is (my name) press 1 and then paused for a second before leaving the recorded message from Nancy Miller stating she has been trying to contact me and has not been able to reach me so tell you what why don't you give me a call at 800-807-4106." It did repeat this a couple of times on my answering machine before ending. Really??? This is why I don't answer my landline...

SJ: Your DRS encounter was worse than realized. Historically, many otherwise lawbreaking debt collectors have shown a remarkable aversion to creating privacy violations. They won't dare breathe a wrong word to the wrong person, even if that means breaking other laws to keep a tight lid on account discussion. Such is the case here.

Your stubborn rep was required by federal law to give up a business name on demand, even if you've not identified yourself. Her gruff refusal denied you the means to exercise your FDCPA rights, and could be seen as abusive. A call pattern working out to an average of four per day would break my comfort zone and be painted as ''annoying or harassing'', per the FDCPA language. I would say you have the start of a decent lawsuit.

30 calls a week from this number. Even when I answer I get a recorded message from "Nancy Miller" saying she has been "trying to reach me" and asking me to call her back at 800-807-4106. I finally called that number tonight and asked what the name of the company was, but the operator refused to answer the question. "You called us - don't you know who you called?". She hung up on me without providing the information. I have to assume that since they would not identify themselves they have no legitimate business. I did receive a call from another company last week who had a wrong number. She was kind enough to tell me that no reputable company, even a debt collection company, would refuse to even identify themselves.

February 14th, 2012 Resident47 MA

Stevens: You can send your own demands to DRS this week rather than wait for your AG to open his mail. To both you and Jennifer and any ''not me'' case I always recommend putting the agency on notice, just as you would if you were the target and the debt claim was invalid. Send a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one. This will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril.

Jennifer: You're both right and wrong. The FTC makes two demands of third party collectors which are frequently in conflict. A collector must make ''meaningful disclosure'' of its identity yet respect the privacy of whoever is named on a debt account. If you get a skip trace call for a stranger, the rep is not required to name his employer until asked. That is the most you can be told without making the agency vulnerable to a lawsuit.

February 13th, 2012 charles stevens NC

these people keep calling my number asking for someone that is not here or never has been, I want it stopped or I will go to the attorney general!

Started calling every few days a couple of weeks ago. Just lately they've started leaving the "Nancy Miller" message. I have a common last name, so I suspect they are just trolling everyone in the directory to see if they find who they're looking for. From what I understand of the debt collection laws, they've already violated the law by not stating upfront that they're a collection agency.

You there, posting with my handle here on 04 October .... You've been hijacking user handles for close to a year now, usually to leave inane non-messages like ''(name) taunt'' and ''(name) rant''. This forum is about HARRESSMENT by Ass$#@$ls (DRS & others)consistent calling on phone, not having correct name, information, details of the REAL DEBTOR, RUDE OBNOXIOUS BEHAVIOUR - TOTAL DIS REGARD OF LAWS,ETHICS,MORALS AND PRINCIPLES. my take on this is GIVE THEM BACK THEIR OWN MEDICINE- AND KICK THEM HARD.

I dont understand why Resident47 is feilding for the scumbags (and feeling irritated by the posts-which means i am RIGHT on the mark)i challenge Resident47 to show us TEN case where DRS was forced to pay ANY damages/ANY sanctions/ANY fines what so ever,SHOW US ten case(s) where DRS cleint had to spent AND how much time, pateince, endurance, tact, skill and above all MONEY to DEAL with A#$@$#LS SUCH AS DRS or other such SCUMBAGS.

We all should give Resident47 this chance to post all those cases on this forum or EXIT this board FOR EVER.We will handle DRS and others --our way.

I repeat if DRS has a valid/legal claim against you -they can take the legal remedies provided by the law and likewise you can respond by legal resources provided to you-- LET THE COURTS DECIDE.IF YOU OWE THEM YOU SHOULD PAY YOUR DEBT -IT WILL NOT GO AWAY - I REPEAT IT WILL NOT GO AWAY JUST BY WISHING.

BUT I REPEAT IF u DO NOT owe one cent to AS#@$#@s such as DRS or whatever their name is and they are harrassing you by constantly calling you----(please read as all CAPS ) BLOCK THEIR CALLS- BLOCK THEIR CALLS- BLOCK THEIR CALLS- BLOCK THEIR CALLS .THEY ARE USING TELEPHONE TO HURT YOU -- USE THE SAME TELEPHONE TO BLOCK THE AS@#@LS.THE HARRESSMENT HAS TO GO AND IT 'WILL' GO AWAY.PLEASE ATLEAST GIVE IT A TRY--CALL YOUR PHONE COMPANY (OR) BETTER GET A PHONE WITH 100 (OR 20,30,50,70) NUMBER BLOCK CAPABILITY - BLOCK THEIR CALLS and if you are not happy with the results - YOU CAN ALWAYS 'UNBLOCK' their number and the CIRCUS will start again.

October 2nd, 2011 Resident47 MA

It's been several weeks since anyone hinted that I shill for the collections industry. Really now, my scthick in that case would be ''pay youse bills'' and ''you personally are wrecking our economy'' and ''all debtors are criminals'' and the rest of the usual false shaming.

You have this idea that DRS can't be punished and won't be stopped. It's too slippery and it wins every time, you say. That sounds a lot more like shilling, however unintended. I asked that you show me the proof of your assertions that DRS is somehow untouchable. I'm still waiting.

I say DRS has no special powers. It's another 'Buffalo Bully' using a shopworn industry playbook to extract money through fear. Bullies only have that power which victims grant them, as I said here ten months ago. If DRS doesn't concern you since installing some call blocker, why are you cursing them and bashing at your keyboard in all caps? Why carry any emotional response at all to an alternate course of action?

To your other point, a collection agency does not instantly win a lawsuit if it holds a valid claim. The consumer *lets* one win by playing ostrich and doing nothing useful to answer a summons, which is pretty much the story behind most of the debt cases on your civil court calendar. Counterclaims for bad collection practices can reduce or overwhelm whatever the claimed amount might be, and we haven't even discussed pulling a case into private arbitration, where the cost can devastate the corporate aggressor.

You don't have to listen to me ... Find the stories on Credit InfoCenter and Debtorboards from people who got serious about resisting debt industry abuses. Ask those collecting fat checks *from* lawbreaking collectors, many without setting foot away from home, if a more active approach was a waste of their time. Passive resistance, even if you think it ''wins'' something for you, permits the worst collectors to go on and dump the same abuses on others.

Just to be clear, this is not about waiting for a rescue from regulators. The FDCPA, FCRA and TCPA each grant private right of action. A natural person can name DRS or any other collection firm as a defendant, with or without a lawyer helping, and make the loser pay all legal costs. If a few hundred more people per year legally challenged each scofflaw agency, greater fear would swell in them than any FTC fine or attorney general's scolding has ever created.

Dear resident47 you have your views i am entitled to mine.
Ass#$@es such as DRS harrassed me for 2 years for someone (i didnt know)for some debt (i dont know what ?) for an amount ( i dont know how much)and my freind Resident47 is advising people to play by the rules when ASS#$@@es such as DRS break every law, every rule, every moral, every ethic.(MAY BE Resdident47 IS ONE OF DRS AND REALLY WORRRIED FOR FUTURE BUSINESS)

OK ,PEOPLE CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING-

1) YOU WANT TO SUFFER MORE,HAVENT HAD ENOUGH of SCUMBAGS DRS ? THEN LISTEN TO Resident47 and go waste your time and money with FCC/FTC/STATE ATTORNEY/PRIVATE ATTORNEY or any other time waster(DRS KNOWS ALL THE LOOPHOLES AND HOW TO FRUSTRATE YOUR EFFORTS). I GUARANTEE YOU WILL LEAD A SAD,MISERABLE LIFE BECAUSE ASS%$#@ such as DRS WILL NOT LEAVE YOU. IF YOU HAVE A PHONE NUMBER--DRS GAURANTEES HARRESSMENT FOR LIFE.They dont loose anything.THE MACHINE IS DOING THEIR DIRTY JOB.

(OR)
2) LISTEN to me and understand this- I CAN BET MOST OF YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DRS DEBT-NOTHING/ZERO/ZILCH . DRS and SCUMBAGS are harrassing you with a machine(ROBOCALLERS/DIALERS), SO YOU FIGHT BACK WITH A MACHINE(CALL BLOCKERS) AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
if DRS debt is geniune they will/can sue you ,win the judgement and then it is your choice to pay or not or let the Bastards work for their money- BUT 99% OF DRS CUSTOMERS ON THIS PAGE ARE NOT "legal DEBTORS of DRS '-I REPEAT 'IF' YOU HAVE/HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DEBT. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR NAME/ADDRESS /SS # /DOB OR ANY INFORMATION- SIMPLY HANG UP AND GO GET A PHONE WITH CALL BLOCKER. SLEEP WELL
CHOICE IS YOURS.

Julie: You don't need a valid debt or a derogatory trade line on your credit reports to be hassled by debt collectors. They call third parties to alleged debtors all the time for permitted skip tracing purposes, or often pretending it's a trace to annoy and shame an intended target whose location is already known. Runaway skip tracing is arguably the most common problem the debt industry creates.

You are unlikely to find any ''convenience'' in their phone system. High volume debt collectors are notoriously deaf to verbal requests. Third parties to the alleged debtor like yourself don't get a lot of coverage by FDCPA, but it does say ''any person'' cannot be abused or misled by a collector.

To a ''not me'' case I always recommend putting the agency on notice, just as you would if you were the target and the debt claim was invalid. Send a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one. This will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril. This can also help pull the agency under the shadow of TCPA, which carries treble damages for ''willful'' violation.

"Nancy Miller" DRS. Recording even when I picked up the phone "I have been trying to reach you".... there is no reason for me to receive a call like this. SRK, I'm not trying to be ''scarry'', or scary, or misleading. You would not label me as such if you'd studied my several contributions here. Have you in fact taken DRS to court and lost? Can you find ample cases on PACER or Justia demonstrating that DRS wins all of the FDCPA suits filed against it? Ridicule and humiliation from a debt collector are not mere annoyances, they are illegal tactics which can render false debt claims cancelled and statutory payouts to the victims.

I'm only suggesting that you and Jean and David Walker and everyone else need not ''suffer for two years'', or ''five days a week'', or every day until either you or the agency wears down. Automated dialers don't need sick days and don't feel frustration. Ignoring a machine does not discourage it.

You want to make a lifelong project out of ignoring -- yet still being bothered by -- collection calls, keep on your current plan. If you want to disarm the collector of its primary weapon, the telephone, use the laws that are on your side and you might get real satisfaction.

September 15th, 2011 Resident47 RI

There are inherent problems with reflexively blocking and ignoring collection calls as SRK breathlessly advises:

- Sooner or later a determined collector could change numbers enough to overrun or bypass your system.
- You may miss opportunities for collectors to hand you violations to sue them over, which this agency seems willing to provide.
- If you can possibly be held liable for a debt claim, ignoring all contact is a great way to be named as Defendant in a lawsuit.

I'm not about to tell you to answer every call. It's your phone and your life. I am saying to closely monitor everything a shifty debt collector does. To be less cautious can be like leaving free money on the table.

After 2nd voicemail from DRS left on my office phone, I called "Nancy Miller" back at the 800 number they had left in their msg. A man answered, asked if this was the number for "Joann Raffa". I told him no, and he said he would remove my number from their call list.

April 25th, 2011 jean

i am unemployed and these people cant get the message-call 5 days a week.

April 14th, 2011 Resident47 RI

Congrats, Peter. You got a rep to admit what we've been saying for many weeks. The use of alias names is not strictly wrong for individual reps, but it frosts me when these agencies use one as a blanket for the whole office.

April 13th, 2011 Peter

I received a voicemailfrom this number and the lady stated that her name was "Nancy Miller from DRS" and to call 'HER' back. Called back and a man answered, I told him I wanted to talk to Nancy and he said it was a call center and she wasn't available. He then said he would help me so I restated that Nancy Miller had asked me to call her back and he told me that she was only a computer and I had to deal with him. At this point I explained that I was finished with the call and hung up.

April 9th, 2011 D CT

The person they seek does not live here...think they moved tothe West coast 3 years ago. I will no answer it anymore. Bunch of morons. I will report the excessivbe calls to the State consumer protection agency.

January 14th, 2011 Mrs. P PA

i have been receiving calls from this "Nancy Miller" for about three weeks now - VERY frustrating when all you hear is a recorded message; thanks to everyone below with the useful information.

Beth, debt collectors are not in sales, therefore exempt from Federal DNC. Thanks to Kulamoto and myself two months ago you have a street address and a pointer to educate yourself in how to use it.

This number keeps calling and leaving a message for someone I never heard of! When I call the number a female voice recording (with a very eastern US accent) tells me to hold on and never connects. how can i get it to stop!! i have my number in the DO NO CALL data base

Really now ... commit fraud on classified ad sites just to rickroll a collector? How juvenile. DRS has a ROOM full of phones to your one or two lines. Even supposing the unlikely goal is made, that their commercial telco account is successfully swamped in a service denial attack, all the pit boss has to do is order everyone to use personal phones and get back to work straight away. Heck, it would work in their favor, all those strange numbers confusing you all in CID, which is exactly why occasionally a collections rep will VOLUNTARILY use a personal phone to perform skip tracing.

The FTC makes two demands of third party collectors which are sometimes in conflict. A collector must make "meaningful disclosure" of its identity yet respect the privacy of whoever is named on a debt account. Some agency callers are shy with the names, thinking the mere hint of collection activity is enough to trigger a lawsuit. Thus, being selectively marble-mouthed in phone messages is straight from the collector's playbook. This forced ambiguity is skewed to their advantage, calculated to worry you enough to return the call.

January 8th, 2011 Mary

Same thing happened to me. For the last 2 days they've called me. I find it very interesting that they mumble their names and the company's as well.I was looking for the number and that's when I found this site. Thanks for all the good information.

January 8th, 2011 Mary

Great Idea Brian: The best way to get rid of these is to go on Craig's List and other free ad posting sites, place a bunch of adds selling stuff really cheap or even giving away tools and stuff that would generate a lot of responses to the add, Use the (800) number and give that Nancy Miller's name. they will get flooded with calls and Clog up their phone system, cost them Money and use up the (800) minutes that they have to pay for... then they are forced to shut that number down and get another.. at least you got to slow them down and cost them something. of course legally I am not telling you to post fraudulent adds nor have I ever done that.. ha ha.. but it just a hypothetical idea ;)

Just a word on aliasing here .... Don't be fooled like "ABC" was back in April by any business name variants or DBA names. Debt collectors with dirtied hands rebrand and reidentify all the time as their reputations tarnish. I also suspect "Nancy Miller" is a house alias and not an actual employee. Take some time to review this thread and other DRS threads on this site, and the many complaints on other forums, and you'll see the bottomless pit of deception you face from this collector and dozens like it.

November 17th, 2010 Resident47 RI

What a big man your first rep must feel like, Mrs. K. Like any bully, collection thugs only have that power which their victims give up. He is "in control" only so long as you fail to exercise your rights. You notice how he choked the moment he knew you were recording his antics. You were correct in that the worst collectors don't really care if the wrong person pays or the wrong amount is seized or the account itself is legally out of bounds.

If you're in a complaint filing mood, I would also send letters to your attorney general and that of the collector's home state, and to the FTC, which has Federal oversight and does prosecute bad actors every so often. Once you've helped others, you can help yourself as well through Federal law.

If you are receiving repeated, misdirected, and/or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, you may find relief in the provisions of the FDCPA, the Federal law which regulates collector behavior and provides you simple tools for your own defense. It grants you control of how you are contacted, and collectors can be sued for their crimes. Learn your rights and first response tactics at FTC-dot-gov. See also your state laws for additional support.

November 16th, 2010 Mrs. K

I received a call from a "Nancy Miller" from DRS. Before I spoke with anyone I had a rather tense conversation with a foreign man with an african type accent who informed me that "he was in control of this conversation and that I would listen to what he had to say". He demanded my social security number. I refused and informed him that I was recording this conversation, he then put me on hold. I spoke with 2 different people who gave me 2 different social security numbers, neither of which were mine.

I believe this company is a scam that uses intimidation to harrass people into paying money they do not owe. I will be reporting this company to the Governors Office of Consumer Affairs.

Yeah, let 'em blacken your credit report if they want, NavyVet. It will just add a FCRA violation to your case against them. Employee name aliasing is not uncommon in the collection game, and also in other firms with a fraudulent business model. I recall a sham dating site which used "Lisa" as a customer service contact. All the calls and emails to "Lisa" would go to whoever was available, and the drones would laugh every day at the complaints lodged against the phantom rep.

October 22nd, 2010 NavyVet NJ

I recently recieved a call from this same "Nancy Miller" of DRS. She must be a voice actress, i do not believe Nancy Miller as the DRS representative she claims to be actually exists. I have called back twice this week asking for her only to be redirected to another employee who then informs me "I'll actually be handling your case." The 2 DRS employees I have spoken with get increasingly more rude as the conversation progresses. As it was in the first place, DRS had no business in the first place "buying" the alleged debt as it was settled 2 years ago. DRS then threatens me by telling me that they are going to report me to the credit bureau if I don't pay. This is extortion!

October 15th, 2010 Resident47 RI

I'm not sure if it's sad or fascinating that in 4.2 years of damning reports on this collector, a grand total of two entries mention the one thing which could have helped most everyone who has posted to this thread. What's more sad is that one helpful thing has been around for 33 years. It's Federal law from the FTC, a restraint on bad collector behavior called the FDCPA. Learn your rights at FTC-dot-gov.

There is some disinformation among these entries which a few minutes of study should clear out. This is my skinny:

If you are receiving misdirected or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, the FDCPA provides a private right of action. It grants you control of how you are contacted, and collectors can be sued for their crimes. You may however soon find that your verbal demands to limit or cease communication, as allowed by the FDCPA, are often ignored. You will have to place the discussion on a paper trail to enforce regulatory compliance.

For the umpteenth time, the DNC registry is for telemarketers, meaning sales. Charities, debt collectors, political speech, and surveyors are all exempt as they are not included in the FTC definition of "telemarketing". This was made known to you when you registered your numbers.

As for good places to complain, start with the FTC itself, which periodically files suit against or shuts down the worst collectors if there is a sufficient critical mass of public outcry. Also try the Attorney General in the home state of the agency or debt lawyer. AG Swanson and Cuomo, respectively of Minnesota and New York, have set particularly good examples of what the law can do when you put the right tiger in the arena.

A couple of repeat entries here foolishly suggest complaining to ACA International, the collections lobby group with the high 'n' mighty attitude. They have been dedicated in the past few years to efforts to eviscerate regulation and make financial rape as close to legal as they can, as well as doing PR damage control every time one of its members or kin is exposed as a runaway menace.

Find archive stories on Tobias "Bags of Money" Boyland for a chillingly typical example of the thuggery within the industry culture, and the very happy ending of his whole crew punching out of work for the last time while handcuffed. When the calls come, answer no questions and make no deals. Get an address and make them dun you on paper as the law demands. As a rule of thumb, the more the collector resists and becomes hostile, the less proof there is of the debt account claim. Stay safe ....

I have been receiving calls from this number for several days. When I try to call back the number is not in service. During my most recent call a women asked to speak to me. The name was correct and she stated that she was calling from Debt Recovery Solutions. I immediately informed her that I would be taping the call because I had done research on the company. With that she wished me a "good day" and hung up. I have now completed the complaint for to the NY Attorney General and will be submitting the form requesting that the company be investigated and appropriate criminal action be taken against them.

July 31st, 2010 Fed up ME

This is a "bottom feeder" debt collection company. They buy debt for pennies and try to collect. In my case they are trying to find someone with the same name. This debt has been sold over and over, and each time it is, I get these calls from one of these jerks. I have lived in my home for 20 years and the person they are looking for has never(by their own data)lived in my town. There is no law that prevents this type of call.

July 9th, 2010 courtney CA

I have read all 228 comments, and all is the same on our end. We recently purchased our house have been in it for 1 year. The Nancy Miller calls have been comming in for about the same amount of time I have lived here 1 year. Everytime I call back its a recording.
When is it going to end!!???

June 15th, 2010 C CA

Continuous calls throughout the day (10+) refuses to give any information about their company. Rude callers with very personal questions.

June 9th, 2010 TSIF MA

Similar to all others, Nancy Miller, DRS, sorry we have been missing you.
After about two weeks of receiving these randomly, I geared up for a battle, had my Mass Attorney General information ready to drop on them, pen in hand, etc.
My call was promptly answered. Mr. Jimenezy was relatively polite. Asked me my name, I responded with you have my phone number. He tossed a name at me that I have never heard of. I said so. He said he'd put a stop call on my number and it should be active in 48 hours. Reasonably pleasant.

I do believe they are a collection agency, how polite or persistant they are may depend on how solid they feel their information is.

I just got my first call from DRS, but after reading this, I wonder what I am in for

I have a few suggestions.

first to the lady who called the FBI and got the phone calls to stop, provide the info for the contact at the fbi, let all of us coordinate through the same channels to form a pathway to provide pressure to make this type of stuff stop.

I suggest each and every person who has this problem start contact each and everyone of these offices until they get the message and do something to stop this company. I also suggest you call and tell your story to local news directors in both New York and Ohio

make sure you create a news-worthy story the company is beign sued and investiagted by attorney general in two states, if you have spoken toa lawyer and at the very least file complaint with attorney general then this would be true to the best of your knowledge

the news director will contact the attorney generals to confirm and the attorney genral and mayor will think this is a really big thing and move forward faster if they think the news media is going to be reporting on it.

contact the mayor and attorney genrals yoru self and ask for a comment for a news blog you plan to start

easy to do www.blogspot.com, get comments from the mayors, point news directors to those blogs

maybe the first person who does this won't get the story done, but if more and more people do their part eventually we will make headway and the charges and news stories will follow, record any audio on phone calls that you can regardless if you can use it in court or not, the fact is it is not illegal to record a phone call, it is just not admissable in a court of law, the news media does this type fo stuff all the time, get the recordings to the news directors, send transcripts to the newspapers, proof of these rude and racist comments is what is going to get news media attention

Why does she keep calling us say she is trying to reach and to call her back Ahy doesn't she just stay on the line an talk. Who are these people anyway rrobbie007@rconnects.com

May 12th, 2010 K. M. GA

Apparently this is a debt collector. So I'm not sure why they are calling a ton of people and asking for SS#. I made a comment about the phone message that is being received and she told me that it is an automatic message and not a real person (REALLY?!?!?!) and I told her that I couldn't imagine that she was getting too many calls back with them not giving out business information. She was very rude and unpersonable. Hmmm maybe they don't know that you don't need to pay some things back. For instance, when I was buying a house in GA, I was told to NOT pay anything that was older than 6 months because it would make my credit score go down before it went up. Anyway... now you all know that the number is for.

This letter is to inform your office I notice that another company stated that I owed your office fifty five dollars. Therefore, I am writing this letter to dispute this item. First and foremost, I filed a complaint against your office April (2006). This letter went to the PUC Department of Texas (documentation can be provided).
Your letters respond that your company overcharged me for the use of services. I forward a check to your office for the entire balance (Community Bank of LA). There was not a past due on the account.
You company explain and apology to me due to the fact I was overcharged. But, I will be happy to get a lawyer to provide you letter and contact the PUC of Texas that also received your finally letter to me.
You have 5 to 10 business day to correct this information that your company sold to another firm.
As you know if any agency has provided incorrect information in regards to my credit I have a right to take legal action. Your company knowingly and willfully reported and furnished negative information that has hurt my credit.

I received the same "robot call" for the past few months. I never called back because "Nancy Miller" mumbled the initials of the "company" (I didn't know if they were DLS, DRS, DNS, ENS, EMS, or anything else). Out of curiosity, I entered the 4106 number on a search engine and found this page. Now that I know it's a scam, I can ignore any future calls from those phonies. Thank you for informing me about this scam.

just a follow up, I found the number to DEBT RECOVERY SOLUTIONS, LLC, which is a different number than this DRS TECHNOLOGY. I spoke with a representative there, who was sure to repeat to me that it is a debt collection agency, something they are required by law to tell you before discussing anything with you, also something this DRS TECHNOLOGY doesn't do. The agent informed me that they are not associated with DRS TECHNOLOGY, that their only name is DEBT RECOVERY SOLUTIONS, LLC. Just a heads up to everyone, also DRS TECHNOLOGY told me they were trying to reach my husband but would not give me any further info unless I "verified the last 4 of his ssn" Now I am not that stupid.. the last four may seem like nothing, but actually once you give out the last 4 it makes the rest of your ssn pretty easy to figure out. Once I refused to give out that information, the woman at DRS TECHNOLOGY became very rude and was no longer interested in speaking with me. She said my husband would have to call, which to me makes no sense because how are they going to verify that it's him, he won't give out any part of his ssn either! From my experience with this company I would say they definately seem to be a scam and stay far far away from them. Oh they also claim to have sent me correspondence in the mail, I have yet to ever receive anything from them. Debt Recovery Solutions, LLC has sent me mail, but never DRS TECHNOLOGY. I am working with Debt Recovery Solutions, LLC, but that is for an identity theft case, something completely different... Hoping that DRS TECHNOLOGY stops calling soon. I told them I was going to be contacting my attorney and that I had already reported their company.

I have tried calling back, but all I get is a total attitude from some lady that has a very heavy accent. Sorry, but I am not going to give them my information if they can't even tell me who they are or what they do.. This company needs to get shut down! Anyone know who they actually are or what they do??

This number is for a debt collection agency with numerous complaints, based out of Westchester, New York. Look them up on Manta.com for direct contact information. The are harassing me for an early termination fee I refuse to pay T-Mobile from back in 2004/2005 when I had no signal and switched cell phone companies.

September 21st, 2009 Lynee

I received a call from Nancy Miller today on my work phone. If she calls back, I am going to file a complaint with our state's Attorney General's office as well as contacting local investigative reporters with various news agencies to see if they have done stories on these people. When reporters do "pieces" on these kind of complaints, you usually see results because the harassers have been made public.

Sunday, May 17, 2009. PHone has been ringing all day with automatic recording from Nancy Miller. The numbers give are 800[851-9631 and 800-807-4106. I believe they call themselves DRS and do nasty intimidating collection calls which is against the law. They are located at 900 Merchants Concourse, Suite 106, Westbury, NY 11590-5114.

I may file a complaint with my phone company. Everyone should do the same.

the below statement help me and i hope do the samething to you!!! But also i will ask to report this bastards to search.bbb.org because they are rude, call me as wrong number and don't want to give me any information that why are they calling me. HELP ME PUT THESE ASSHOLES OUT OF BSINESS!!!

I did a little research, and I found out that DRS is a member of the American Collectors Association (acainternational.org). They have an ETHICS link at the top right of the home page. You can file a complaint against them via this association, and also look up the contact info for the 'Ethics Contact' of that company. I have listed it here below:

After getting many annoying calls from the Nancy Miller Robot, I called 800-807-4106. After waiting a while I was connected to a guy who was not unpleasant but totally not forthcoming about who he was or what business he worked for. He asked for "Dan Rudy," who I never heard of. He would not say what organization he was with or why they were calling except to say, "They are looking for Dan Rudy." He did promise to remove my phone number from the list "within 48 hours." He obviously had caller ID since he repeated the last four digits of my number to me and didn't ask for the number I was calling from. I hope they go away.

March 5th, 2009 mystic

These jerks keep leaving messages on my answering machine so I finally called them back. I asked the guy who they were and what they wanted and he said...What number did we call? I said "who are you?" he said "we represent many companies" I said "what do you do for those companies?" he said "WHAT is your phone number?" I said "What do you want?" He said "WHAT IS YOUR PHONE NUMBER??" "WHAT IS YOUR PHONE NUMBER?" "WHAT IS YOUR PHONE NUMBER?" (VERY RUDE AND HATEFUL TONE, ALMOST YELLING) I hung up on his "English as a SECOND language" ass! I see people are saying they are some kind of debt collectors but I'm not behind on any bills. This is probably the most Rude encounter I've ever had over the phone. If they call back I will answer, I'll tell them someone is at my door and ask them to hold on. I will then let my very loud dog bark into the receiver along with blaring music until they hang up! Maybe they'll get the hint not to call back.

March 2nd, 2009 Melanie NV

We've been getting messages from Nancy Miller several times a day for several months now. Never anything about WHY she's calling, just a number to call them back. I finally did today, and it was Nancy saying I'd reached DRS and to please wait on the line to be connected. A guy answered after a minute and I told him I just wanted to find out what the calls were for. He asked for the number they were calling, and I gave it to them. I mean, they obviously already have it, or they would call. He was like, "woah, there's three names associated with this number" Juan Something, Miguel Ruiz and Bryan Swan. My house used to be a rental, and we still get mail for the first two, so I guess it makes sense now. He said he would get our number off the list, and that it would probably take about a week. He was very nice and professional. I guess I was lucky. :)

What are collection agencies not allowed to do?
As a result of the FDCPA, collectors cannot phone your home so often as to harass you. They cannot call before 8 A.M. or after 9 P.M. They cannot threaten you or use obscene language. They cannot call you directly if they know you are being represented by an attorney, and they cannot call you at work if they know your employer prohibits such calls.I have written a letter like the one above, but I am still being harassed. What can I do?Contact the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) and register a formal complaint. If you can prove continued harassment, the collection agency is open to a lawsuit - one you could win if you have the proper documentation or proof. There have been several successful suits against collectors where the consumer won in court.
Do I have any other legal resource against a collection agency?
If you think that the collection agency may be behaving in a way that you suspect is illegal, write a letter to the Federal Trade Commission: Consumer Response Center, Room 130-A, Federal Trade Commission, 600 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580. Include in your letter as many details as possible. Send a copy to your state attorney's office, your local consumer protection office, or both. You might also consider sending a copy to the legal department of the credit company that started the ball rolling in the first place. If this fails contact the American Collectors Association, at P.O. Box 39106, Minneapolis, MN 55439. It's members agree to conduct their business in a professional manner.

i've been getting calls from these people for weeks. i thought it was for a dating service or something and was getting irritated with my husbands co-workers who pull pranks like this all the time. today the call was different though. first a recording came on asking for such and such person and then the weirdo dating service type message came on with some chick named nancy miller talking. finally today i called back and some guy answered asking for my phone number. he asked if i was such and such and i told him no and asked if this was a dating service b/c of the type of message i got on my voice mail. he laughed and said no and then said that he would remove my number from the phone list. not sure that will happen since i decided to look up the 1800 # and found this website stating these people are debt collectors. it doesn't matter how many times you tell them that they have the wrong number, they will never stop calling. ugh. best thing i can suggest to everyone is change your number or get that service through your phone company where you can accept or decline phone calls before you actually talk to the person who is calling you. i don't remember what its called but i guess i will have to order it. :o(

December 24th, 2008 FL FL

I was armed and ready to verbally attack them with all the info I obtained from this site. He asked for my phone #, I gave it, he told me who he was looking for and I told him no one by that name lived here. He apologized foe the inconvenience and said my # would be removed. I verified again, "My # will be removed from your calling list?" and he told me yes.

He was polite - maybe this website worked!

I spoke to Nancy Miller tried to explain to her that I had made arrangments to make payments once a month, and had made one payment already by check she denied that I had paid anything. She wanted me to make new arrangments but not give me credit for what I had paid in the amount of $100.00 the month before. She stated they did not take payments by checks. I asked what about my $100.00 I had paid, she denied I paid it at all and wanted to know if I wanted to make a payment but it had to be by credit card so they could automaticly charge a payment every month. I said don't give anyone the right to do that. She asked when could I pay the bill in full, I said in a couple months, Nancy said that it was not exceptable, she got very hatefull with me and told me that I just didn't want to pay my bill at all, and hung up on me. I feel this is very unperfeshnal on her part and if she can not deal with people any better than that, then she dose not need to be working anywhere that she would have to have contact with the public!

I have gotten 7 phone calls in less than 48 hrs from "out of area" This must be debt collectors new way of preventing an individual from blocking the call. starr 77 does not block this call. I tried to trace it and I might have waited too long because the message said tracing could not be completed. They leave no message. I answered it today and I said nothing not even hello. I waited to see if they would say anything and a woman spoke my name then dead silence and she hung up.- Last night I picked up and told them I was tracing the call and they had better stop or I would sue. 1. It is against the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act for a debt collector to harrass you. 2. They can be sued 10,000 per phone call if they continue to harras after you have informed them to stop. 3. They must tell you who they are, what they want what the call is in reference to, and they must put everything in writing. Look up the FDCPA and read it. It will save you a lot of hassle and it will also inform the predcatory debt collection agencies that YOU KNOW THE LAW!

We have been terrorized by the Schwartz Brother Pedophiles over the last year for someone we don't know nor lives here. These things could care less and keeps calling day and night. This past week, we came home and found on our answering machine 18 calls from our local power company needing to speak with us ASAP about our service. The answering machine calls gave the correct power company name we use but the caller ID showed "Not Provided" under the 800 number. Anyway, we called it and guess what, it wasn't our power company but the Schwartz Brother's Terrorist Organization known as DRS. We then actually called the REAL power company and told them what this Terrorist organization was doing and they were extremely interested. They sent an agent of theirs to our home to get a copy of the messages and our written autorization for them to get our incoming call records for the week. They are going after these Terrorist Pedophiles.

If a multi state power conglomerate can't have these terrorist pedophiles put away then we every day victims of this trash don't have a hope unless we pay these bastards a personal visit at the offices I see listed in all these terrorist accounts written on here and other places on the internet.

Its time to stamp out Terrorism in America!

They won't stop calling. Ever. Collection agencies use the last set of phone numbers on file for an individual they are after. Because they deal with dead-beats and liars, they automatically assume you are lying and either are the person they are looking for or know the person. There really is no recourse except to get caller ID and not answer (or if as in my case it's a cell phone they are calling, add the number such that it's custom ring is "none").

Worse news is that when they are done with the number, someone else will pick-up the account and it starts all over again..... the people calling get paid on recovery. They won't stop calling period.

I know that's a really long article, but it's worth reading. You may have heard of "Phone Phreaking," but people can hack telephone lines, get phone number databases, and manipulate caller ID numbers in order to pose as fake companies and potentially get information from you. When I called DRS back, a Mr.Joseph assured me my number would be removed from their system, but two hours later, I got another call.

March 12th, 2008 Gord

I think these people are part of an ID theft ring. They pose as a collection agency and pump you for information to get you to prove you are NOT who they are after. You don't know what piece of your ID profile is missing. Anything you give them could allow them to complete the puzzle and steal your identity and sell it.

Why do you think it is that so many posts here say that the person they are after doesn't live there? It's because the calls have nothing to do with debt collection. The calls are random and odds are, a certain percentage of people will try to convince them that they are not the target and give them ID information to prove it. Probably works pretty well for them.

It's a Phishing scam. They don't follow the laws because they are criminals.

Do not give them any information and report them to the authorities.

Unfortunately the authorities are overwhelmed and can't battle these things so we have to protect ourselves. Don't fall for it.

We've been getting calls from this number for the past 6 months asking for our daughter, plus they've left several messages on our answering machine asking for, or asking us to give a message to several other people (four to be exact) who we've never heard of. It's beyond rediculous the amount of times they call in a day... sometimes as much as 10/12 times a day. I've just about had it running to the phone just to see their # up on our caller ID. My daughter called their number back asking them to please quit calling/harrassing us. She even gave them her call phone number so they could call her instead... and yet they continued to call us. My dh sat on hold with them for over 45 minutes one night just to have them hang up on him. When he called it back he did get a somewhat nice person who actually listened when he explained to her that our dd no longer lived at him (and hasn't for many many years) ... and then she asked about "all the others". LOL Well... what others? She gave dh names of four other people who were so called listed to our phone # (which explains all the stupid messages on our answering machine) and when he told her he'd never heard of any of them, she told him she'd have our name removed from there system within 48 hours, which... so far we haven't received anymore phone calls, but we'll see for how long. LOL (It's only been a few day's so, we'll see) Wish me luck...

February 24th, 2008 Get even MA

I used a website called jajah.com and had one of their numbers listed in a previous post on this page call the Nancy Miller number. I think a few hundred more times of them calling themselves ought to get their blood boiling. Otherwise I just never answer. ANYONE who cannot state their business on my voice mail never gets a call back.

February 17th, 2008 Seriously...

We have been receiving calls on our business line every 30 minutes for the past week. This morning, Sunday, they began at 8 am! We assume this is for "Shannon or Terry" as we received a series of calls for these names in the week leading to the barrage of automated calls. This is a business, and all calls occur after hours and weekends, when normal business is not in operation. An since there is no one here to take their call, nor is there anyone there to take the return call, it serves no purpose, other than blatant harassment. How can we make them stop? How do we make them understand that they have the WRONG NUMBER!!!???

I too am on the national do not call list, but still no results, though I think I have registered twice since having this new phone number. I found this site after doing a search on the phone number. They have called me early in the morning, and late at night like 8:50 PM. I am usually out, and am very busy, so they get the answering machine even if I wasnt trying to ignore them. But can't they be fined for harrassment? Sheesh!

February 14th, 2008 Sick and Tired

Called two nights in a row, incensantly. Told them I had never heard of the person they are looking for, then recieved numerous recorded messages requesting I call them back. They do not answer. I have to get some sleep, these people are insane and apparently very stupid for the fact that they KNOW they have the wrong number, yet keep calling.... I looked them up in a google search, Found many law suits against them for harassment. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney Generals Office, and if need be, will speak with my congressman. There are strict laws against harassment of this kind.

Same deal: 1.800.807.4106. Called 3x today. No one there when I answered twice. Left a voicemail when I ignored the 3rd call. "Nancy Miller" sounded like a porn star & requested a c/b at that number. I am guessing debt recovery solutions.

these people had my ssn and all my personal info.. the only thing that was different was they were giving me my maiden name, which I have not used in over 5 years.. they were reporting that I owed money to a utility company that I currently using.. I asked how is this possible seeing that I still have an open account and no bad debt with the account.. they would not give me any info, and when asked for a supervisor they told me no one was available.. when I asked for the persons name she hung up on me.. very rude.. I think this company is trying to scam money from people... all she kept on saying was that I owed over $100.00 and that I could pay it now and it would not go on my credit report..

They keep calling even though we have told them over and over that the person they are trying to find does not live here and that we do not even know this person. I asked the extremely foul mouthed woman on the other end why they refuse to take us off their call list and she said that if all us 'White Trash' would pay our bills then we would not get calls and then she hung up on me....Again.

These people are foul Racists and should be avoided at all costs and reported to whoever gives a damned which I have no idea who because it seems from all these messages on here, the law could care less that these DRS Racists are terrorizing innocent American Citizens.

If the NAACP is out there to keep us 'White Trash' from terrorizing blacks then who is out there to protect us 'White Trash' from DRS Raciest Blacks?

Debt Recovery Solutions - "Nancy Miller"

December 29th, 2007 MT OH

I have received calls for over a year now 3 or 4 times a day. I answered the first call and they wanted the last 4 digits of my social security number. I refused to give it to them and they became hostile saying that I must do this. I insisted that I would not and told them not to call me again. I have excellent credit and owe no bills so am not concerned. I just don't answer the phone anymore since I have caller ID so they are wasting their time but it is annoying.

December 22nd, 2007 AC

We too have received multiple calls from them every day. When I called them back this Nancy Miller was extremely rude. I asked what it was about she just said a debt we owe. I advised her that we have asked Sprint to send us paperwork showing my husband (wasn't my husband @ the time acct was opened)-opened the acct or ever lived at the address on the acct-they can't. She then started talking Sh*t to me about us having no $$ blah blah..I have filed a report with the BBB, Attorney General & FCC for harassment & refusal to prove this account belonged to my current husband. He has told them several times it was opened by an x-girlfriend. I advised the BBB, Attorney General & FCC that this company will not be getting any $$ until they can prove this is our account to pay. Now when we see the phn # we just pick up and hang up.They seem to have a pattern of harassment. I am curious how they continue to get away with it.

November 30th, 2007 C MA

I just recieved a call yesterday and the woman on the message said that she had been trying to reach me for a while and it was very important that she speak to me. Her name was Nancy Miller. She did not say my name on the message. It was very criptic. I am obvioulsy not calling her back!

November 28th, 2007 Denise NY

This Nancy Miller @ 800-807-4106 has been calling here for wks. I usually don't answer my phone if I don't recognize the number on my caller ID. I have a feeling that it is a collection agency for Labs (Quest Diagnostic etc). Oftentimes these little bills go unnoticed and unpaid by patients and the laboratories turn these issues over to this collection agency. Could you have overlooked a lab bill in the past? I just avoid the calls...and I don't let them ruin my day.

Calling for my ex who hasn't lived with me in 5 years. kept leaving messages daily on my machine. i called back and was asked for my phone number after waiting on hold for some time. the woman was extremely rude and would not give me any information besides to say she would make note that the number was incorrect.

November 14th, 2007 Deb NJ

Received a message from Nancy Miller that she had been trying to reach me for days and to call her at 800-807-4106. I have been receiving those messages 4 and 5 times a day, before 8am and well after 9pm. I finally called the # and it was answered by the rudest man alive, identifying himself as Derrick. I explained that I received a message and he immediately asked for the last 4 of my SSN. I asked who they were and he told me he couldn't tell me that until I gave him the numbers, that he had the first 5#'s anyway. I told him that I wasn't going to give him the #'s and he stated "Fine, then I can't help you out" he was really arrogant. At this point, I hung up. I too am on the "Do Not Call" list and can't help but wonder how these people are getting away with this.
