I received this number asking if I was one of the hundreds of people without health insurance. I have received several calls from different numbers, but the same message. Reporting the number seems to do no good, and a call back is unanswerable.

May 18th, 2011 Resident47 RI

Really funny how the credit reprice scammers, fake grant offers, and fake payday loan collectors have begun to cycle through the same numbers. This suggests some of the overseas scammers are rotating scams like crops, helping confuse their true identity and maybe testing to see which scam yields the best payout.

I've been getting the same calls from them probably once a week. They called me again today and I kinda cussed them out but if they call me one more time they don't want to hear me scream over the phone and cussing them out pretty good!!

When I receive a call from this caller it will state that they have important business to discuss with me. I have never called the number back. If they are calling me in reference to some business then they need to state who they are. Otherwise, I am less likely to call them back! I would like for them to STOP calling me. Thanks

Automated call wanted to sell me health insurance

April 26th, 2011 Chicago Ed NY

Robo call-automated message from "out of area" with female voice: Government is giving away $40 billion in grants. Press 1 to speak to counselor (or something like that) Press 2 to be taken off list. I have previously pressed 2, so I pressed 1. Instead of a representative, there was another recorded message asking me to leave my name and number. I hung up. The feds have open web sites for various types of grants. The states vary. None-the-less, there is no free lunch. The assumption is that these scammers charge for something that is free or low cost to apply for AND there is absolutely no guarantee of qualifying or obtaining an award. JERKS

Ah yes, more pious huffing from the "Pay Youse Bills" crowd ....

"You wouldnt get calls if you didnt owe anything, you dont get calls when you are paying things back."

False on both counts. Every day debt collectors willfully chase the wrong people, try to collect from the deceased, try to extort funds on bills already paid, try to extort from accounts past the Statute of Limitations, and so on. You can be in a settlement plan and never late with payments, yet still receive threats and dunning notices when collectors disobey the agreements or fudge the facts.

"Going to school is a choice."

But being hounded by lawbreaking collectors afterward is not. School loan debt is the worst to carry because it is nearly impossible to dismiss and often amounts to legal racketeering. The broader problem is that the cost of both living and college degrees has spiked while wages remain flat and available jobs shrink.

"college dropouts who cry ... Pay it back."

With what, exactly? The crummy job serving tables or stacking shelves or parking cars which they can't have because 200 other applicants with no degrees also want it?

If the debt collection industry actually obeyed Federal law most of these complaints would never appear. Until you've been painted as a target you don't know what it's like. Premier is known like many others to view FDCPA as a suggestion and not a law.

July 21st, 2010 REAL DEAL IN

you all are a bunch of retards.
Pay your bill. You borrowed money are are looing for any excuse not to pay.
Going to school is a choice. Getting your degree in basketweaving was your choice.
Some of you retards will then get your Masters in basketweaving then cry about no jobs.
You not being able to find a job is your problem.
The general rule of "if you cant do the time, dont do the crime" applies.

For those of you that bitch and moan, your wages will be garnished and your taxes taken.
It is the normal course of debt.
You pay your phone, you pay your car, you pay your rent.
What happens when you dont, those get taken away.

America is full of 1-2 year college dropouts who cry at night becuase their life is a waste.
How about making a good choice. Pay it back.

You wouldnt get calls if you didnt owe anything, you dont get calls when you are paying things back.

Instead of listing your number on the do not call list file a complaint with the FTC, your State Attorney General and their State Attorney General. Also right to your U.S. Senator and Congressman, and request a congressional investigation.

Premier Credit is another GARBAGE company....calling my cell phone number numerous times, sucking my PAY AS YOU GO minutes. When I phoned them back the person who answered said they were looking for so and so, I told them the phone number they called did not belong to the name mentioned. Is there a DO NOT CALL law in effect for cell phone users?

August 22nd, 2009 Tess TX

Don't believe them if they tell you they will remove your phone number. They will just not call for a couple of months and start back up using another number with the harassment. Each time they just esculate it.

August 22nd, 2009 Tess TX

They are a collection agency. They break violate the Fair Debt Collections Act (A law regarding collections) daily. Per this law once you tell them stop calling you at work they must stop. Once you send them a cease and desist letter they must stop calling and only communicate in writing (they don't like this because this gives you another form of documentation against them). Write the cease and desist and send to their physical address (not a post office box) certified mail with return receipt. File a complaint against them each and every time they call online with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC.org), doing so then initiates an investigation against them. Remember folks it is not illegal to be in debt or to owe money, but it is illegal to harass. They do collections for State and Federal as well as private loans/debts. Write your State and US Represenatives and Senators, give them dates, times and details and ask that they intervene (particularly if it is related to ANY goverment collection activity. Contact the agency (Dept of Educ, State, or company, call and write them and let them know of the violations). Control the conversation and do not let them side track you into discussion about Money. Also, each and every time they call your home, use *57. The *57 feature sends a trace notification to your phone company who after receiving three of these MUST turn it over to law enforcement agency. Then the law enforcement agency will investigate and often take action. The fact that you owe money does not change the fact that this collection agency must follow the law. The more documenation of this nature the more likely your State Attorney General will file a class action law suit against Premier. But it takes action by receipants of these calls whether they are the person owing the money, cosigner, reference or just shear coincidence of inheriting a phone number that someone else had. Take action and make them stop. Also, go on line to www.thepetitionsite.com Spread the word to everyone you know on how to handle this company and the petition.

August 19th, 2009 Todd CA

I was called by a NJ-based number, but they left this 866 number. Called them back and they were actually totally cool. Gave them the last four digits of my phone number, they asked if I knew a name I'd never heard of. When I told them that they said they'd remove my number from the list. I've had my phone number for over a year...but what I think is happening is the person who had it before me has started defaulting on debt...as this was the second call from a collection agency. Anyway, as counterpoint to many other posts here, the several people I just spoke with were very courteous and professional. No complaints.

August 16th, 2009 TESS TX

Also, when you file your complaints with your senators, representatives, FTC, BBB and post on these sites list the name of the person you spoke with. Also, make sure to tell the rep at the Dept of Educ who that person (Premier staffer that is harassing you) and keep telling them. The Dept of Ed will tell you that they are surprised by the treatment and so forth. Don't buy into it. Keep calling and telling them. My harasser at premier is Kyle Baker. I have let everyone I sent letters to and called know this. I have filed my hardship and income based repayment applications and I call at least once per week the Dept of Educ for status updates. But each time I call, I write down who I spokek with and waht time. I even make a note of their inconsistency. Why do I do this? They supposedly record the calls for "quality assurance." I am building my case because these recording under the open records act can be obtained and they can also be obtained for any class action lawsuits that may be filed in the future.

August 16th, 2009 TESS TX

File a complaint with the FTC (ftc.org) and the Dept of Educ, BBB, write your senators. Also sign the petition for Student Loan Forgiveness. Be sure to tell them when they call you are recording the call. They will tell you it is not legal, but they are also recording the call for "quality control" or so their automated system when you call them states. They just don't want you to do it so they use scare tactics. Go read the Fair Debt Collections Act and make sure that you know what your rights are. If you owe the Dept of Educ or any student loan lender money file for a hardship and also the income based repayment options. Also, if you work for schools, non-profits or government entities there are forgiveness options they don't want you to know about, so call the Dept of Educ directly and ask. Now understand the front line representatives will try to get you to call Premier Credit of North America. Don't do it, hold your ground and continually state over and over how uncooperative they are and that you filed the FTC complaint and wrote your US Rep and Senators. Also, keep repeating that you are interested in knowing what you need to do to file for a hardship and the income based repayment option as well as any other relief such as forgiveness for working for non-profit, schools, government etc. You will have to call more than once, to get all the info you need as well as go to the Dept of Educ website. Make copies of anything you send them. Once you apply keep calling and asking the status. The Dept of Educ will tell you that they sent it to the collection agency for review and then they review. Ask them if they kept copies and then write your sentator and reps and tell them your concerns. Most important sign the Petition on Facebook for student loan forgiveness. Be persitant. The collection agency doesn't want you to know all the possiblilities for relief. The Dept of Educ has outsourced most of this to collections and the don't want to have to step up and do their jobs. This is one agency that needs to be reigned in and it will take a united front from everyone impacted to make this occur. Also, hit *57 each time Premier calls. This sends a report directly to law enforcement and they will also get involved because this documents the number times they call, which in many cases is excessive. Premier represenstives are working on commission. They don't want to work with you. It is all about their commission. Also, be sure to send cease and desist letters to their physical address certified mail.

August 12th, 2009 Deborah OK

Called being very nice and courteous. Tried to bully me into paying off a student loan of over 11,000.00 wanted to know if I could do it in two or three payments. When I said that I couldn't he haggle more with me and wanted me to pay 1000.00 down and 245. a month committed for 9 months. Couldn't do that, told him what I could do based on the amount of money I made. He said he couldn't do that. Said that they will be contacting my employer and will be garnishing my wages for 345.00 per month. I think they wanted me to get upset and fly off the handle. They were really trying to scare me by saying they will have to garnish my wages, mentioned that several times. I ask for their address so that I could send them the money I told them I could pay a month. They gave me this address. U.S. Dept of Education P.O.Box 105028 Atlanta, GA 30348.

Poetic justice is within those like Kyle Baker at Premier experience cuts or job loss in the current recession or experience major medical. I bet they start dancing to a different drummer the tables are turned. Will I feel sorry for them. No, because what goes round comes round. They reaped what they sow.

For of us we need to ask for change, not just for us, but our families, friends and the future generations.

June 22nd, 2009 TESS TX

The reason Premier Credit of North America spends so much time harassing those with goverment jobs or income such as social security is that they are easy to find. No effort to find these people and easy to verify and collect on through use of coercive tactics. Sadly, you will find that many people with this low income don't know they have recourse and give up. July 2009 an income based repayment program goes into effect. Go to the IRS Collection guidelines and then locate the hardship form on the Dept of ED site. Apply for both. This pushes your debt back to the US Dept of ED and "might" get some or all of it forgiven. It isn't expensive to email or write the President, US and State Reps/Senators, Dept of ED, AARP, Council on Agency and other like them, as well as FTC, FCC and BBB. or to sign petitions. If you don't have a computer at home, then take time at work (set up hotmail or yahoo account) and do from work or go to the library to do this. There are more of us than them. Also check out groups such as those on FaceBook that are organizing for change as well. The more complaints and awareness the more likely these changes will occur. If our government can bailout banks and big industry and they constantly, then they can give relief to the citizens from student loans, whether is is total or partial loan forgiveness. This does take time, but it is worth it. You cannot live on $800 per month. Our government acknowledges this with the development of the IRS collection standards posted on the irs.gov site. The more letters and petitions the more likely change will come. Phone calls the those I listed work as well. Just remain calm, stay factual and don't be disparging, just factual. If you can record every converstation you have with the collection agencies. When you start the conversation, say I want to make you aware that I am recording this call. I find that 90% of the time they hang up on me, but guess what, I have that on tape. It is very telling. I even have the latest conversation I had with Kyle Baker at Premier Collections on tape. I played it for the rep I spoke with at Dept of ED who was shocked and asked that I make a copy of it and mail it to them. It takes time and effort, but it does pay off.

June 22nd, 2009 TESS TX

I find it interesting that people tend to assume that everyone who receives these calls are deadbeats. That isn't the case. Things happen for example job loss or major medical or may the person with the loan graduated and in this current economy is still searching daily for a job. Those who are so judgemental and refuse to look deeper more than likely will one day experience job loss or major medical, then suddenly, they will want help and have to deal with someone like them. Others will end up like some of the corporate leaders who are under investigation and indicted because of their unethical and illegal acts. My to all that are trying to stop the harassment, whether or not it is your debt, someone you know or total stranger is to file the FTC, FCC, BBB, State Attorney General Complaints complaints. If they represent another business send a copy of those letters to that business. Also write the President, US Attorney General, US Senators and Representatives, as well as your State Senators and Representatives. Don't stop there, also join any class action law suits agains the offender. Locate online petitions you can sign regarding the issue. If you are over 50 write the Council on Aging and AARP. Don't send just one letter, keep sending them. Give them dates and names of who called (company, first and last if possible) and time of calls. If you can record each call. If you answer the call let the offender know you are regarding each call. Also write Cease and Desist letters the offender and send certified mail. This is time consuming, but it will pay off in the long run. It is how change is made. Ask your friends and relatives to sign the petition and write letters also stating their support of change that will make it illegal for this type of harassment and for greater enforcement. I didn't note what type of loans/debt were involved, but make sure you ask for support of loan forgiveness as part of economic stimulation. Keep in mind it doesn't have to be forgiveness of the full amount. Also ask for income based repayment programs to be implemented, if not already. Secondly, if these collection agencies have government contracts ask that these contracts not be renewed and that the government stop outsourcing to third party agencies who only add fees to the initial cost. Keep posting to this and other sites. There a number of support, lobby, action groups on Facebook and similar sites. Keep the letters factual and keep personal comments about the character of individuals with these agencies out of the letter. You can state they were uncooperative, coercive, intimidating, rude, repetative and such, but you can't call them sharks or scumbags. I am one of these people impacted by medical costs that are more than a 1/3 of my income each month. I tried to work with one such agency and got no where, but I have made headway using the above method. What is sad, is my loan was turned over not because I was not paying, but because I was paying in their mind too small of an amount. There are actually IRS guidelines that these collection agencies and the companies they represent should be using when attempting to collect as to what constitute reasonable living expenses when calculating repayment. But MOST OF THESE AGENCIES DO NOT FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES AND THEY DO NOT COMPLY WITH CONSUMER PROTECTION LAWS.

Be sure that you obtain the name (first and last if possible) of who you speak with at the agency/company that holds the debt and making collection efforts. You want to provide these names.

Want a laugh??

Visit Premiere Credit's employment page .... www.mypremierejobs.com

Please note how the "big brains" of the corrupt management operate, as they fill their chairs, and headsets, with the low IQ collectors:

They proudly portray that their collectors earn $70k. .... True to form, it's very misleading, and likely an outright lie.

Here's what they are really saying (and these numbers are, no doubt, very questionable) ... Their collectors earn from $20k - $120k, with a MEDIAN salary of $70k.

The "median" is the average of 2 numbers ... the highest & lowest. $20k plus $120k divided by 2.

20 + 120 = 140
140 / 2 = 70

Premiere may have one collector who "hit their equivalent of a lottery" and earned $120k in a recent year, although I really doubt it.

Without a doubt Premiere has no shortage of low IQ collectors earning $20k, or less ... This is probably 95%+ of their collector work force.

If you took an "average" wage for Premiere debt collectors, it would be much closer to $20k. Here's what it likely looks like ...

~100 collectors @ $20k
1 collector @ $120k (if you even want to believe that)

Bottom Line .... This scumbag operation is corrupt & misleading from top to bottom, in all their practices.

Who aspires to be a debt collector, eh, .... WHO????

June 20th, 2009 Collector Man

If you haven't already, start logging all the illegal, and "borderline", activity.

- dates & times of all "suspected" calls from Premiere

- area codes & numbers of suspect spoofed phone calls

- names, dates, and queries these scumbags made of neighbors, relatives, employers, etc

- calls to your workplace, etc

These A$$wipe violate the FDCPA every hour of every day, and they know it ....

What reason do they have to call several of your neighbors regarding a "bogus reference check" when they already know where you live / work ... and already have your phone number??? Why would they ask your neighbors if they know your cell phone number, if they are doing a "reference check".

As has been stated many times, the debt collection business is populated, for the most part, by very low IQ losers of questionable morals. The founders of this mess of an operation are a couple of A$$wipes who couldn't find anything better than debt collector's jobs when they got out of college, managed to get fired from those lousy jobs, and begged Wolfe's ugly wife's mother for money to start their own debt collection operation.

Start logging, my friends. You will no doubt be able to show a pattern, and generally accepted Premiere "operating procedures" of harassment, abuse, and the intent of annoying debtors .... ALL VIOLATIONS of the FDCPA!

Although Premiere is already liable for $1,000 for each documented violation, you will be able to get much more when you can demonstrate personal damages they have caused you. PLUS attorney's fees.

Here's a link to attorneys who will sue the scum for the fees the court awards them.

Like I said ... log, log, log. When you've had enough, contact an attorney. Everything you have logged will be verified from Premiere's call logs during discovery.

June 20th, 2009 Pro Collector

What business does a collection agency have talking to your neighbors, when the only legit reason they can, is to "locate" you??

Get this ... if they are calling your neighbors with the "reference check" ploy ... by definition, they already know where you are. Hell, they are calling your neighbors. How did they know who your neighbor was, if they didn't already know where you were.

This is a FDCPA violation, subject to a $1,000 award, plus attorney fees.

It's, plain & simple, harassment.

Squish these Premiere Credit A$$wipes ... flood ED, the FTC, & FCC with complaints about their illegal tactics!

next ...

Of all places to call, these idiots called the law offices wanting to speak to an attorney about payments. I asked them if it delt with a guardianship or a case with them telling me no leaving their name & phone #. THEY ARE CRAZY ! ! !"

Very stupid, too! Does anyone wonder what variety of cretin aspires to be a debt collector????

June 10th, 2009 Indy Bob

You do not have to talk to these scumbags. Tell the low IQ on the phone you do not want them to call anymore, get their mailing address & follow up with a certified letter.

Just hang on for a while, Ole O'Bama will be bailing out all the student loan defaulters.

May 9th, 2009 Kim IL

Do not talk to this company Premiere Credit Of North America, collects on debt for the Department of Eduction, Marion county child support, and many more i found out. this company loves to violate the FDCPA.

March 29th, 2009 tess TX

Some individual may owe money to a company that has turned their accounts over to Premier Credit of North America. Others may be receiving calls from this company because they were used as references in the loan process of the original company. Others may simply have the misfortune of having acquired a number that was once the debtors or one of the references of the debtor or someone with Premier may have miskeyed (such as transposing numbers) the phone number in their automated recorded call system (which, I believe should be outlawed, but I digress). Bottom line is under the Fair Debt Collections Act, the debtor by that law does not have to deal with collections agencies and can ask the collection agency to stop calling and by certified mailing notified the collection agency of this fact therefore forcing the account back to the original debtor. Also, everyone who is receiving these harassing calls from the Premier should file an complaint with FTC, their State Attorney General and also the State Attorney General that Premier is which is Indiana. Folk's it is illegal to harass, coerce, intimidate, discuss another person's debt with a third party. It is not illegal to be in debt or deliquent on a debt. Owing money may be the result of circumstances, such as medical, layoffs, divorce or it could be bad judgement, but it is not illegal and it doesn't justify treating the individual or those associated with the individual poorly, nor does it justify the existance of harassment, coerician or intimidation tactics that company like these use. So right your State and US representatives asking that they put more protections for consumers in place to prevent the existance of companies such as these, file complaints with the FTC (ftc.gov) everytime you get calls from these companies and file complaints with the State Attorney Generals. Doing this will end the calls. I also recommend you checking online to see if any class action lawsuits have been filed against Premier or any other companies like them that are calling and see if you are eligible to join that lawsuit. Also, they cannot call you at work once you tell them this and they cannot call your employer. There are samples of the decease and desist letters online. Best of luck.

Definite spam. Want to lower your credit card payments by asking for personal information. Ask their company name and location and they hang up. But I have a head set and redial - nothing better to do on a Saturday morning so I called them back for an hour - just to reverse the harassment.Felt good to be the aggressor for a change. All operators sounded foreign.

I got a call from Chris St. James yesterday. He left a voicemail saying my creidt card payment was past due and I am now in debt, but he'd like to help me get out of it and I REALLY needed to call him.
So I FREAKED OUT! I don't have a credit card and I just paid off the little debt I had a year ago...
I called and he was of course busy. The lady began to talk and I interupted her and said, 'I'm really scared because I don't have a credit card and I shouldn't have any debt!!!'
She then said, okay mam, I'm sorry to bother you...
I THEN said, wait... so you didn't know if I had debt?
Her answer, No...
I then said, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO ME?!?!?! OR ANYONE!!! You REALLY Scared Me!!!
She then told me they would take my number off the list...

I called back today bc I want to report them, but I can't get a straight answer from any employee...
They either hang up on me when I ask what their company is called or they give me different company names...
I only got a company name twice, one being Debt Reduction Center and another one being Consumer Credit.

February 28th, 2008 Amy NC

This was a call from a debt reduction service. I have no outstanding debts and called the number to find out how they obtained my mobile number. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was hung up on ten consecutive times.

February 23rd, 2008 Travis

The same thing is happening to me that is happening to others. They call once or twice a day. I wait to talk to an operator and they hang up as soon as I ask to be removed from their calling list. Today, I made it a little farther by saying I had debt and I was interested in their service. They asked how much, I said $1000 and then they hung up. I'd love to be removed from their list, but I'm not sure how.

February 23rd, 2008 kelly CT

i get calls from this number at least 2 times a day, i always wait and get connected to a real person, i always explain i have no debt and politely ask to be removed from their list, they still keep calling. i just asked to speak to a supervisor and they hung up on me......this is really beginning to p*ss me off.

February 20th, 2008 Jerald b. NE

I'm constantly getting calls from this number and others. I do not answer these calls because i only want to talk to people i know. Can someone make these calls stop???

February 20th, 2008 Cassondra OH

My 12-year-old sons cell phone had this number on it twice in one day. It took calling them 8 times to get someone to remove his number from their list. The catch is...my husband had to call on the 8th time because they hung up on me 7 times of asking them to remove the number. They are a debt reduction telemarketing company, and they barely speak english.

We are as the other listings, get calls all hours of the day. They are apparently calling regarding a person that may owe them money. This person once had the telephone number that Bell South gave us when we moved to South Mississippi. This person continues to list this phone number as a reference. We have tried to explain but to no avail. We don't know Premier Credit nor the person they are trying to locate. We have no idea what to do. Will write Senators and Congressmen maybe this will do some good. Also will inform State of Mississippi Attorney General. Let's all hope!!!!

June 19th, 2007 Deeder WI

Since mid May this number calls me every weekday at 10:30 am CDT. Every day it leaves a different message on my answering machine. I think it's a scam & a fraud. One message was from a man with a stern voice who said it was "from card services with an urgent message about my account" and said it was imperative for me to call back as soon as possible. Instead I called the number on the back of the only credit card that I have and they said they never contacted me and my account is fine (I have a $5500 limit but only have $460 balance on the card and make payments every month on time). Another message was from an overly excited young woman who said I won an all expense paid vacation for 2 and needed to call back asap in order to claim the prize. When I saw the same phone number with a different message in a different person's voice, I ignored it. Then there was the message from a man who said he had urgent information to discuss about a family member who was stranded in Florida without any way to get back home to Wisconsin. WTF??!! All my family is right here in WI and nobody has traveled farther than 20 miles to work and back. And it continues. One time I answered the call and it was a recording leaving me a recorded message about a trip I won to Cancun. No way to talk to them unless I call back, which I won't do. I think they are just trying to get credit card numbers so they can make fraudelent charges. Beware, don't give them any info.

June 16th, 2007 Jenny

I basically know how companies like this work. When you go shopping or inside of a department store (for example: Marshalls) and they ask you for your phone number (& if you provide it), this is how companies like this get your phone number. Whether you are on the do not call registry or not (b/c you basically volunteered this info). These automated services call you, not the actual representative so they actually do not have you phone number at all. On their end on the phone, it actually looks like you were the one that called them instead of the automated service. Option number 2 to remove your phone number basically does not work. You can remove your number by immediately telling the representative to remove your number from the do not call log but you will have to provide it and it will be removed in about 2-3 days. It's just like e-mail spam, if you just delete it you'll have more in your inbox the next day but if you unsubscribe from their site they stop after a few days. Take it from an insider trust me it works, hanging up does not help - the automated service just calls you back at a later date. Try not to be so mean (I know the calls are annoying) these people are just doing their jobs, which is not fun in the first place. They basically mislead us about the content, pay and requirements of the job and that's why I will be quitting and looking for another by the end of the week and reporting them to the BBB and the U.S. Dept. of Labor. Receptionist job my a&*.
Have a great day

I have been getting this same phone call now for the past 4 weeks, although it shows a different phone number on caller ID. This time it was a automated call that said this is ‘Consumer Services’ that I needto update my credit card rates. That I need to act now by pressing 1. This was my last chance. I did some research on the phone number it is a discontinued number for a Pensacola, FL business thereby making any complaint useless. Last week it was a Fort Lauderdale, Fl discontinued number again making any complaints useless.

(850)456-1207 is a disconnected number, so they are not calling from there. These tricksters are obviously faking the caller ID information so that the origin of their calls cannot be detected. This is called "caller ID spoofing," and it is becoming popular (look it up on wikipedia.)

Ignore the caller ID information. Martin McManus is probably a victim in this too. Imagine the number of people who are calling. He has probably been forced to change his number.

I am on the Do Not Call list. When they called me, it was about credit card interest rates, but they seem to calling others with a variety of pitches. This is illegal telemarketing calls at a minimum, but it could be worse - a scam to get you to reveal your information over the phone so that your identity can be stolen.

June 12th, 2007 Dick MD

Caller ID said Pensacola, FL. Answered on second ring. Fast-talking woman (recording?) talked about reducing indebtedness; refinancing; some such thing. The first time they called, I pressed the button for "do not call again." Second time, I pressed "1" for speak to an operator about consolidating my debt. Operator asked me if I pressed "1" so I could consolodate my debt. I asked what company she was with - Cardmember Services (with whom we do have an account). I said that they were not supposed to solicit from me, and she hung up immediately.

They called at 1:40 PM EST and I didn't answer. They didn't leave a message and when I called back, I get a message saying "we're sorry. you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service". I think it's like spoofing email addresses. They just pull dead numbers to put in the caller ID so no one can trace the calls back to the telemarketers/scammers.

Card Holder Services
Called at 2:11pm EST
Registered as Unknown Name on callerID.
Long automated message about being selected for Credit Card consoladation and press 1 to talk to live rep. Once rep came on, I asked if "Card Holder Services" was there official company name. She ignored me and asked if I had $5,000 or more in debt. When I said answer my question first, she hung up. Tried to call the number back and came up as a disconnected number.

I am on the DNC registry and reporting them now.

It's a link to BellSouth where the phone number is registered. Maybe if enough of us complain they'll do something about it.

A recorded message about consolidating debt. I pressed 1 and waited through a song. Then some woman wanted my name. I told her nobody from this number had ever called that number. Then she said something else that I couldn't understand. Heavy accent. I asked her if she spoke English and she said, "A little". That's when I hung up.
