4 weeks 1 day ago No Deena here

Received call on 3/19/2014 at 2:15pm. There is no name in the Caller ID section, only a number; 800-568-0156. I've received calls from this number twice today, before the call listed, and other times during the last few weeks. I don't answer the phone calls with "hello", since this is a business number; I answer it with a business salutation. Some fellow with a VERY strong unidentifiable foreign accent asks for a a Deena G##### (name phonetically). We don't have anyone by that name, or close to that name. I've asked the fellow several times during the past few weeks, to please spell the name for me, and he hangs up every time I ask. He sounds rather anxious when he calls, and appears like he's to "catch" this person answering the phone. When he finds out it's not her, he hangs up abruptly.

Message said: "We were unable to reach you by mail and need to reach you urgently. Press one to speak to a representative."

I'm a college kid, and received this message because I went to Carillion family practice and didn't have my new insurance card yet. My mother told me to use my old one, and she'd "fix it later." Several months later, and it turns out she never did and was receiving debt collection letters without telling me or doing anything about it. She promised that she fixed it, but I'm still receiving these calls.

If you're getting these, and have been to any Carilion clinic in the past year, call them. There may have been a problem with your insurance or you have an unpaid bill. If it's a mistake, they'll fix it and stop calling.

I have received numerous calls from this number at all times of the day, even Sunday morning before 8 a.m. Today, I answered and could not understand the man very well. He said he was calling about my Amazon credit card and that I was late in my payment. I am not which I tried to convey to him. He wanted to know when I was going to make a payment, and I told him it would be before the due date. He did ask me to make a payment over the phone, and I said NO. I repeatedly told him I could not understand him and finally gave up and hung up. I have added this number to my blocked call list.

I've received dozens of calls from this number. It is an automated messages stating "this is an important message from GE Money" and to call immediately. Because my PayPal account is current, not over limit, with no overdue payments I chose to ignore the calls. But the excessive calling was driving me nuts, so I finally did call just to put an end to the annoying interruptions. The number connects to an automated system where I am asked to enter my 16 digit credit card number. Thought I could circumvent entering my credit card number by pressing "0" (zero) to talk to a live person, but the automated system rejected the request... just kept insisting on my full credit card number. I suspect this is scam to acquire credit card information.

This is the collection for g.e. capital. They manage my paypal line of credit. They have made some recent changes but typically only call when you are two weeks past due. Calls increase up to 10 times a day or more until you answer. Last time I answered the woman asked me my name 5 times at the beginning of the conversation. I kept confirming my name to her. After the 5th time I wished her a good day and hung up. I didn't have time to keep saying my name over and over and over and over again.

Called for my boyfriend and seemed to only want to talk to me if I was the wife. Person would only tell me they're from Lowes. I asked from the department store? Caller placed me on hold to get permission from his supervisor to tell me, "yes, the department store". He gave me the 800-568-0156 number for my boyfriend to call. I immediately Googled the number and found this site (THANK YOU!). I firmly told the guy, "Do NOT EVER CALL THIS NUMBER AGAIN! Do you understand me? Your are running a scam. I just looked your number up online. You are in India." (He said, "Yes, I am calling from India.") I feel sorry for you to have to do this work. Please do not EVER call this number again, do you understand me???" He replied, "Yes, I will make a note of it on your record." I said, "Thank you," and we parted our ways. Note he NEVER denied that they were scammers...

for goodness sakes people...this is a scam!!!! They try to get you to make a payment over the phone for your credit card (Macys)....yes they have some information, but what information is held confidential these days??? These people are good....they will do what they have to do to make a buck. If it was a true call, from Macys or any 'real' company for that matter, they would leave a detailed message and a phone number to call them back, they would not ask you to confirm anything because they called you, they would not be so rude etc.....they have called me on several occasions, ironically a couple days after I make a purchase at Macys, so I know I do not have a past due balance....one time I was atually at Macys when they called, I told them that I would go make a payment right now as I was in the store...they discouraged that and still tried to get a payment over the phone...really people?? If you answer and they ask you to verify any number be it Social Security # or Acct #, give them all zeros or / and ask them to verify who they are. Irritate them too...

called id said st clare hosp so I answered. it wasn't a hospital but a recording about lowering the interest rate on my credit card. what credit card? also said it was my final notice to lower the interest rate.
said I could predd 1 to speak to a person but I hung up.

even though I am on the DNC registry I still get calls like this and normally don't report it, but because this one faked being from a hospital to get people to answer, I've filed a complaint with the FTC

September 14th, 2013 weif MT

This number calls numbers on the national 'do not call' registry with a recorded message (both illegal). This number calls with the standard "you need to lower your interest rates" recorded message scam. Their operators are instructed to never provide a phone number or address (both must be provided when asked by law...) and will not allow you to talk to a manager. This is absolutely a scam as 100% of legitimate businesses will gladly provide this information, only a scammer will refuse to do so and only a scammer will instruct their operators not to provide this information.

Just called the St. Clare Hospital, which was the ID on the number. I fully expected this was a spoof phone call. It is. The woman at the hospital said they have received calls from 23 people this morning, thinking someone was in the hospital and calling........the number 253-985-4373 was busy. They have their IT people working on it right now. She said the few that have gotten through when calling that number back were told it was a credit card rate offer, or something.

Bill collectors can only leave 2 msgs a day so if they don't leave a msg and you don't answer that's the same as "no contact" so then they can call you as many times as they want. Also if they have all your info to sue you for whatever debt, and you do answer they can use that as conformation that you are you and sue you faster without even trying to collect. also if you have hour first and last name on your voicemail that too can be used to confirm identity. My advice never answer and use the automated voicemail.

Advance Fee Fraud

Advance fee fraud, also called upfront fee fraud, is any scam that, in exchange for a fee,

Promises to send you money, products, or services;
Offers you the opportunity to participate in a special deal;
Asks for your assistance in removing funds from a country in political turmoil; or
Asks for your assistance to help law enforcement catch thieves.

Whatever the scammers call the upfront fees (membership fee, participation fee, administrative or handling fee, taxes) all have one thing in common: the victims never see their money, or the scammers, again. Advance fee schemes come in many forms. We have provided some examples here. For more information, you can also visit the Federal Trade Commission Web site and perform a key word search.

Debt Elimination Fraud

Unlike legitimate companies who work with debtors to help them responsibly repay their debts, debt elimination scammers promise to make you debt free in exchange for a modest upfront or membership fee that they simply pocket. Victims pulled in by these schemes will certainly lose that fee, but they may also lose property, incur additional debt, damage their credit rating, risk identity theft, or face legal action. To learn more, read Answers about Debt Elimination and Fraudulent Schemes or visit the Bureau of Consumer Protection on the Federal Trade Commission Web site.

Nigerian Fraud

This fraud combines identify theft and advance fee fraud. Scammers posing as government officials contact victims asking for help in transferring millions of dollars out of Nigeria in exchange for a percentage of the funds. They convince victims to provide their bank name and account numbers and other identifying information and to send checks to pay for bribes or legal fees. Perpetrators may also use the personal information received to drain victims' accounts and credit cards. The Nigerian government is not sympathetic to victims who, by participating in this scheme, violate both Nigerian and U.S. law. Read more about this and other common fraud schemes on the Federal Bureau of Investigation Web site.

February 20th, 2013 Why Not

Many of these calls are coming from Costa Rica and India and they are using spoofed (false) numbers, which in itself is illegal. They do cold calling for or sell the leads to numerous companies in this country and they all know that what they are doing is illegal. Tomorrow this same number may be selling Cruises, Timeshares or Security Systems but if you follow the money it usually ends up in the hands of an American LLC.
Most of the inbound robo call numbers are spoofed, as most of the bolierhouses, both off and on shore, are using Voip SIP Trunks services. Throwaway DID numbers are also used. Some of the robocalling is operated by the end use scammers directly. Others are contract services who earn a referral fee once you are transferred to the scammers.

The criminals behind this operation aren't going to pay attention to you asking to be removed from their list. Their calls cost them almost nothing and they make millions of them so they have no intention of ever removing someone. When you press a key to talk to them all that is accomplished is to verify that they have a working number.
Unfortunately blowing an air horn or whistle doesn't work either. Their headset have noise dampeners plus they are expecting it. However with that said if it makes you feel better then by all means give it a shot.

The banking system is also at fault here, without merchant accounts and ACH processing these criminals could not collect the scammed funds. Though the criminals use obfuscation, layered corporations, multiple bank accounts and offshore stashing, patterns of obvious fraudulent activity become apparent after a very short time.

This is an all out attack from these scum suckers! EVERYONE should be reporting them everywhere that they can. Since this is an obvious attempt at identity theft the FBI should be forced to get involved. (Prosecute them in criminal court instead of civil penalties).

If you want to stop these calls then you need to dry up their revenue source. Your phone company is charging you a fee for Caller ID. Your phone company pays the scammer for sending their Caller ID information. Your phone company pays only a fraction of a cent per call and you pay your phone company to have the Caller ID displayed. The scammers send out millions of calls which amounts to a significant amount of money however your phone company is charging a large amount to millions of customers. This may have something to do with the phone companies inability to stop these calls.
In order to stop this we need legislation making it illegal to charge for caller ID. If a phone service wishes to operate it would need to provide the Caller ID at no charge as part of the service. Here is the $50,000 solution that the FCC is looking for and it doesn't cost anything.

There is an excellent blog site that I found that explains how one company is getting away with this activity.

February 20th, 2013 Why

The FCC has temporarily halted 7 minor unprofitable boiler rooms who will receive a slap on the wrist and be back at it within a few days. In the meantime the calls will continue since they are making money with what is called a CNAM revenue-sharing program through companies like www.telephonemanagement.net and www.CallerID4U.com

In their own words: 'Every day your company makes thousands of outbound phone calls. Every one of those calls generates revenue for many companies, why not yours? Our CNAM revenue-sharing program helps you make money every time a Caller ID request is made by a phone carrier. A high-traffic call center can lose hundreds to thousands of dollars a day to phone carriers by allowing them to charge for access to your own data.'

You can now see why the criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. They are making money even if you don't answer the phone. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their scam then it is just icing on the cake for them. These people are the lowest form of filth on this planet.

What To Do When You Get an Illegal Robocall; www.ftc.gov
1. Hang Up. Do not press 1 or any other numbers to get off the list and NEVER call them back
2. Consider blocking the number or on a cell phone add it to a contact list and assign NO ring tone
3. Report it at www.fcc.gov
4. Report it at www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
5. People should continually file complaints with their Attorney Generals office
6. Report any criminal activity to the FBI here: tips.fbi.gov
This is an all out attack from these scum suckers! EVERYONE should be reporting them everywhere that they can. Since this is an obvious attempt at identity theft the FBI should be forced to get involved. (Prosecute them in criminal court instead of civil penalties).

Register your phone numbers online at www.donotcall.gov or call (888) 382-1222 (must call from # you want removed).

There is a blog site that has information on one of these operations: telemarketerspam.wordpress.com
Please read the blog and report violations to the proper authorities.

BOGUS E-MAILS: If you see "Hey" or "Hi" and your name, delete the message immediately. Do not open it. If you do open the e-mail, and you see "this reminds me of you", close the message immediately and delete it! There is an awful rash of these kinds of things going around heading into Super Bowl weekend, which may have nothing to do with it, of course.

Last year, some creeps hijacked contact lists from even "places of worship". They sent messages out to all the contacts, and when those people opened the e-mails, a Trojan horse replicated itself and sent out messages to all the people on individual contact lists as well!

What is this all about? Some have suggested that the people behind the bogus e-mails are attempting to set up a slave system of computers through which they can send signals that are of importance to them. Frankly, I am totally sick of these attacks.

My question. WHAT about calling to people who DOES NOT have debt with Macy's or their account is current or THEY DO NOT HAVE MACY'S f..g card??? My account is current and due date is in 2 weeks. They call me 6 times a day, including weekend and waking up my kids. Why you violate privacy of this group of people??? I am going to close my Macy's account. Nothing else to say.

this "beeped in" on call waiting while I was on another call. When I didn't answer, the "robo-dialer" left half a voice mail about something to do with interest rates. Since I have "hide my number from Caller ID" service, I dialed it back. I got a voice mail which did not identify exactly who they were, but said they were an "opt out" service. The "opt out" automated service confirmed that this was the number that had called me, and I had to enter MY number to get "opted out." The automated service said it would take up to 72 hours to get off the list.

This is new to me! But they shouldn't have called in the first place as I'm on the DO NOT CALL list. I'm reporting this to the FTC or FCC or which ever one regulates this list.

They have beencalling from over 20 numbers across the nation for a year....and I do not have debt. I requested with many of their associates that they remove our number from their contact lists...to no avail..and some associates hang up on my when they call and I kindly ask for their supervisor.

This private caller number started calling yesterday. A lady just left a message asking for location information for a Robert Trent (we don't know a Robert Trent) and left an 800 number. After reading these posts and knowing we have nothing in collections, I don't think I will return the call.

I meant to mention that I agree partially with Craig - but it goes deeper. There are people who are not so shall we say, savvy when it comes these types of phone calls. These callers are trained to get as much information as possible. They may make 100 calls before they get a BINGO (some poor soul who believes that they can use the services promised- lower rates, whatever - and gives out their information including credit card numbers). Remember - it only takes 2 or 3 small tidbits of correct information for you to be completely destroyed if someone meant to do it. Sooooo... my advice is DO NOT Share ANY Personal Information AT ALL unless YOU ARE THE ONE CALLING, DIRECTLY TO THE COMPANY YOU MEAN TO SPEAK WITH AND CONDUCT BUSINESS WITH

I star 69'd after I got a call. Called and was railroaded with "The Pitch". Played slow, little old lady routine and got her to tell me her name (Margie) and the company (Account Management Systems). She said they could lower my interest rates. When I said I did not need a lower rate because I NEVER pay interest, she hung up. The number that called me was 631-773-1002 - on phone records as Conversent Communications of New York, LLC. in Farmingdale, New York. The same "RACHAEL" recording was the start of this call as well as multiple calls in the past, including the 407-476-5680. I agree with the assessment from others that this is a SCAMMERS organization and has tentacles everywhere.!!

I don't know anyone named Card Services, and I don't do business with a company called Card Services, so guess what?! I didn't answer this call. They didn't leave a message on my answering machine / voice mail. I've gotten calls from these folks in the past, and I am very used to letting my phone ring. I will not answer calls from people or businesses I don't know.

Caller ID said "CARD SERVICES". A recording by "Rachel" said that they could reduce my credit card interest rate. "Victor" came on the line but he was screaming into the phone so loudly that the signal was highly overmodulated and almost completely unintelligible. He hung up the phone when I asked him to speak in a normal tone of voice. An obvious scam; unfortunately there is no enforcement of the numerous laws that "Victor" is violating. I concur with "Vlad"; if he happens to be a reincarnation of Vlad the Impaler, I would support that treatment as well.

Caller hung up without leaving message. I have dealt with these people before. I followed the instructions on their recording to be taken off their call list. As usual they failed to do so.

This is the same "Card holder services" that has been literally calling me every week for the past month. The recording is the same as always: "Press 1 to speak to an operator or press 3 to remove your number..."
Every other time, I've pressed 1 to try to get the company's name and address, but the customer service rep never gives it.
This time, I pressed 3 and the line went dead. I don't know if they'll remove my number or if they just hung up.

I've reported them (again) to the FTC Do Not Call List and the State of Florida Do Not Call List, but I doubt these agencies will do anything since there's no company information or other identifying data.

My caller ID said "V10221618110059", so is there any way to trace this back to a phone line or website that specializes in spoofing phone numbers?

I used the option to opt out from their calls, several months ago, yet they still continue to call. I don't answer. I have filed a complaint on the worthless Do No Call website each time, and will do so again today. When they called this afternoon, I turned off my voice mail feature on my phone, so they would get no type of answer of any kind. For what it's worth, since I opted out of their calling system, I have gotten more calls from all kinds of telemarketers. I think that when you opt out, they know they have a "live" number, and sell it to others.

I didn't pick up and Rachel didn't leave a message this time. Time to make a trip to the FTC site again for another complaint. I get the feeling that these calls aren't so much to get business as to show the FTC that Card Holder Services can do whatever they want and the FTC can't touch them. To bad the computer hackers are more interested in banks and other companies. They could gain thousands of fans if they could track these people, VERY loose term, down and provide names and addresses.

To: Mike, et al -- It is pathetic that so many people who complain about these callers seem not to realize that the best offense is the best (and most cost effective) defense. That is, from my viewpoint, Caller ID. It's simple. If you see a name and/or number you do not recognize, do not answer the call -- or even make a call-back.

What troubles me is how these robo-calls are now hitting cell phones that children have. That is another matter entirely. But what parents who have given their child a cell phone are going to take it away because of the risk of spammers?

Missouri Attorney General's News Release

December 10, 2007

Attorney General Jay Nixon reaches agreement with Florida telemarketer over No Call violations; Marketlinkx Direct pays $15,000 penalty

St. Louis, Mo. — A Florida company that made telemarketing calls to Missourians on the state’s No Call list will cease violating the law and pay a civil penalty of $15,000 under an agreement with Attorney General Jay Nixon. Nixon’s assurance of voluntary compliance with Marketlinkx Direct of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and its owner Ezell Brown, was filed today in St. Louis City Circuit Court.

Nixon sued the defendants after his office received numerous complaints from consumers registered on the state No Call list who were contacted by Marketlinkx Direct. The defendants attempted to persuade consumers to purchase various goods and services related to insurance products.

According to the agreement, Marketlinkx Direct will stop calling Missourians on the No Call list and pay a penalty of $15,000. In addition, the defendants will be required to pay a civil penalty of up to $2,000 per violation if they violate any of the terms of the agreement, and a penalty of $5,000 per violation for any future violation of state consumer protection laws.

To date, more than 2.5 million Missouri residential telephone numbers are on the No Call list, and Nixon’s office has collected more than $1.7 million from telemarketers that violated the law.

Missourians not yet on the No Call list may register their home phone numbers at no cost by going online to ago.mo.gov and clicking on the No Call icon or by calling toll free 1-866 NO CALL 1 (1-866-662-2551).

When do we get open season on these vermin, like we do for coyotes and such? A nuisance is a nuisance. Since there seems to be NOTHING that can be done, DNC or not, I guess we will continue to get these calls until sometime after we are dead. Feather, I think it's funny that you were able to get under that bitch's skin. But I don't even bother any more. They just call from a different number the next time. And I think telling them off may only invite more harassment. So I just don't answer anything that says " card services". I suppose they will change that at some point too.

Another call from Rachel at Card Holder Services offering a great credit card rate. Didn't answer the call but where she seem to want so much attention I thought I would let her get it from ANOTHER FTC complaint. It does look like the FTC is working on this so perhaps if everyone that gets a call from Rachel files an FTC complaint they might get enough information to nail her and her employers.
