Received call yesterday from a foreign speaking person saying that he was with Microsoft and that my pc security was breached by an email virus and that if I called this number they could provide more information. The interesting thing was that I was at my aged father's house when the call came in on his phone. My father does not have a computer and the caller had my fathers first initial and last name associated with his number. Just an FYI

February 1st, 2011 Kimiko MO

Had a call on my cell today, didn't answer and googled the number. Calling it back goes to an automated system that doesn't mention the company name, and only asks if you'd like to be removed from the list. It claims it'll take up to 72 hours to process, hopefully I won't be getting more calls from them.

How do you perform a reverse license plate number look up? I have to know if there is any type of way you can type in a license plate number on the web and see the full name of that guy if it is associated with or perhaps the address of that person. Can anyone assist me? It is an Illinois plate with S in the end of it. Please email me if you're able to perform a search or post if you know the way to do a totally free one. Thanks so much.

Alexis-ssssss, as a "newbie here", please review the following for your day's vocabulary lesson: advertisement, fraud, junk, scam, spam. Thanks so much for dumping a SPAM which has absolutely nothing to do with this forum thread, which concerns an entirely different SCAM from yours. Like most board spammers you commit your FRAUD without actually studying the venue. In this case no one can respond to your unwanted ADVERTISEMENT through "PM" without an account. When you reach 40,000 feet, please fling yourself and your JUNK posts from one of those "jets" you'll be on this week.

Hi, I'm a newbie here, but I already want to bring all the benefits of me :) So, I want to share my experience with you..
9 days ago, accidentally, i had found the Mobile Phone TV...and I was so delighted with this application
that I decided to talk to you :)

I consider myself a bit of a road warrior. I am on and off jets and through airports at least twice,
usually 4 times a week. I can catch up on news, watch a Discovery program, check up on the stock market or just find something interesting.
The live guide works like cable at home and the connection speed is very good. All in ALL - I RATE A 5 Star program!

but I do not want to leave any links here, so you can email me fairyalexiss@gmail.com
and i will give you the site of this unusual program :)

(but please don't PM me, because it's so difficult to communicate in such kind of way)

so, I hope I was helpful to you)) see you in next posts ..

your Alexis....

p.s. English is not my native language, so sorry for any mistakes :)

I, too have been receiving calls about home alarm systems. Through the internet I traced their carrier to Choice One Communications in Grand Rapids, MI. A helpful person there provided me with an actual phone number and name behind EngageTel. It is Dennis Carlson and it appears his personal line is 415-472-5008. I suggest we all call him and request that he find another line of business a bit more honest.

I called Mr Gerald Pitts phone number at 307-632-3333 ask for Mr Pitts and demanded that your phone never be called again. I suggest all of you call Mr Pitt's office and do the same. National Auto Division - CALL THEM TO COMPLAIN!

I received the same calls and the same rude, offensive behavior. I did a little digging based upon what some of the posts here and called National Auto Division in New Jersey at 800.430.4428 then pressed 0 for the operator. I spoke with George (I am withholding his last name) and told him what was happening. He apologized and took my phone number and promised to remove my number within 20 minutes. I went on to inform him of the goings on in Palmdale, CA and of the postings on this web site of abuse and how angry people are. He said he would look into it. I have no idea if he is sincere he is. If the calls persist I will report it to this site.

Rec' call from NAD 9/14/09 @ 5:02pm. Middle aged man identified himself as John O'Harra or O'Marra. Asked about an extended warranty on our 2006 Mazda Tribute. We had an extended warranty but it was on our 2002 Mazda Tribute. He then asked what the milage was and quoted me a ridiculous amount to have another extended warranty. He became very rude, belligerant, and sarcastic. Rec' another call from NAD 9/16 @ 5:49pm which showed up on call ID. Attempted to contact NAD, but unable to. "They" do not want bo be contacted. The guy wanted to know my name "so he could call me by my name and be more personable". I said "you can call me Ma'am". He said "That makes you sound old and from your voice you don't sound old at all". Well he went on to tell me he's from the New Jersey Shore and his accent gets him all the girls! Well not this one! He finally got to the point and wanted to sell me an extended warranty for my Van. I told him my Van is too old for that and he said "Well I'll let you go Ma'am and I will take you off my call list". We will see if he does.

I've been reading over all of the comments posted, and I just had to share my story because MY experience has not been like ANY of these! I did receive a call saying the my Car Warranty was about to expire. I wasn't sure if it was so I took a number and told the Agent I would call them back.

I called my Dealer to see if my Manufacturer's Warranty was still in effect, and it was not. So, I called Safe Ride Warranty the next day to see what kind of policy I could purchase. Since my car is a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am, I could no longer purchase a Bumper2Bumper warranty....I had to buy the Powertrain Warranty. The policy and the prices sounded good so I bought it.

I've had the policy for about 8 months now, and I've had to use it once. About three weeks ago, my car stared slipping...like it was missing the shift in the gears. I was able to drive it to the dealership, and got a diagnostic done. My world was almost turned UPSIDE DOWN when Pontiac told me the bill was $2736...almost $3000! The 2nd and 3rd gears were stripped...

I called Safe Ride Warranty immediately and explained what was happening. They directed me to the Claims department where I was able to file my claim. In three days, my car was fixed and my bill was paid---IN FULL! I didn't have $3000 to pay for my transmission, so I can only imagine what trouble I would have been in had i not been covered.

The customer service is friendly and helpful whenever I call with a question. I don't have any complaints..I just wanted to let everybody know about my PLEASANT EXPERIENCE.

Obvious forged CID, from a criminal enterprise calling cel phones (and likely FTC DNC list too). Likely a trunk connected PBX generating their own fraudulent CID and skipping name.

This seems to be the company shut down by court orders and an FTC backed injunction a few weeks ago, that had pitched fake extended auto warranties and other services. I pretensed fake info as a desirable customer, and in an 18 minute call before they hung up was told by a supervisor that their headquarters is at 877-354-5485. That's a real number, to a Texas company that says it is working with a Florida telemarketer.

PDMInt'l - Priority Direct
2132 Don Dodson Suite 100
Bedford, TX 76021
Telephone: (877) 354-5485
Gary Lehmbert - supervisor

They want targets with more than $4,000 credit card debt at over 6.9% interest, and with several hundred dollars below credit limits, and not delinquent (they want to charge you $590 or $890, but say fees are paid by lenders). If one has time, pretense being a good customer and consume some of their time, while trying to link them to their related companies. Complaints can then be better documented to the FTC here:

June 24th, 2009 AJ SC

Yes I just recieved a call from this same number. No Vmail was left but I been on the net searching them out. This is what I learned as I am sure most ofyou have already figured out.

The company: CitiStream Communications

Its a telemarketing company which I do believe is not a legit company but a scam to retreive your personal information for their own hidden reasons. They do offerthe dial "1" and be placed on their DNC list but that is also been proven to be a lie. Doing that will only show them you are responding and the see that as more of a chance to call you more and get us to answer.

I used to work for a legit Telemarking company many years ago. The best thing to do with these people if you get more and more calls from them (specially if you have the time to do this or just need a good laugh) is to just play along with their lies and scams. Like give them fake info. NOTHING REAL ABOUT YOURSELF! just make it up on the fly. Name, address, madien name, social (if they ask which at that point you know they trying to screw you, possible ID theft going on under the table), ect ect. Every caller that places these calls has a quota for the day of how many calls they get in a day. Their paychecks count on it. SO by playing along with their "game" and being a an obvious waste of time will make the caller/scammer on the other end place you on the companies DNC list for real because they see you as a waste of time and will get nothing real out of you. Like your a big joke or something lol.

Otherwise, just continueing not to answer may (in-time) stop them from calling.

Anything is worth a try if your desperate to get them to stop calling.

Good luck to you all!

I was surprised to receive this call after this news www.nytimes.com . Given the opportunity (by the automated message) to press 1 to talk to someone about my auto warranty or to press 2 to be removed from the list for further calls (odd, since thee message said this would be my final call before they removed me), I actually chose 1 just to see if I could get anywhere with the poor sucker I would talk to. I planned to ask them if they were one of the three firms now under federal court order to stop doing this. The phone rang for quite a long time, but no one ever answered. So this call was apparently just a phishing expedition, casting for active phone numbers.

I got a call from (269) 788-0460 last Friday; typical, persistent auto warranty "final notice" robo call. I pressed 1 to speak to a representative. I was connected with a man and I began asking questions. I asked for the company name and he said Warranty Solutions. I asked where he was located and he said Atlanta, GA. I asked for his name, he said it was John Hall. I then asked to speak with his supervisor and he said he is the supervisor. I informed him that it was illegal to robo call cell phones and implied that by pressing 1, I had called him. I told him I would file a complaint with the FCC andsaid to go right ahead and that he hopes the minutes spent arguing with him are costing me. So I asked for his direct number there and he promptly hung up. You have nothing to lose by speaking to one of these representatives and getting as much info as you can. Just make sure you file a formal complain like I did.

May 14 2009
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is taking action against those annoying robo-calls. The attorney general is filing a lawsuit against three companies who make those calls. Pacific Guard Warranty of Nevada and SCM Media and On Point Media, both based in California.

According to state investigators, the telemarketing companies used "spoof numbers" to falsify their identities. As a result, recipients' Caller ID devices displayed false numbers when they received calls from the defendants.

UPDATED: 9:42 pm CDT May 14, 2009
SAN ANTONIO -- Three telemarketing companies have been sued by the state of Texas over what is being called an unlawful attempt to sell vehicle warranties.
The lawsuit, filed in federal court against three firms -- S.C. Media, On-Point Media and Pacific Guard Warranty -- alleges the companies are operating a nationwide telephone solicitation scam and violating multiple state and federal telemarketing laws.
"In this lawsuit, we claim that hundreds of thousands of Texans have been bombarded with deceptive and abusive telemarketing calls to their homes, their offices and their cell phones," said state Attorney General Greg Abbott. "These calls were made despite the fact that many of these calls were made to cell phones, which would be prohibited."
The state is seeking a temporary injunction against the companies to prevent them from using spoof numbers and automatic dialing systems to call cell phones.

Missouri authorities filed a lawsuit last month against one of the largest car-warranty companies, Wentzville, Mo.-based USfidelis, charging that company officials ignored a subpoena demanding that they answer questions about their business.

May 14 2009
The FTC named Voice Touch Inc. and Transcontinental Warranty Inc. in the suits. It is seeking injunctions forcing them to return allegedly ill-gotten gains

Ron please email dave@tmcallerid.com or call him at 503-327-8183 and complaint immediately and make sure you are on the DO-NOT-CALL LIST.

After we talked to him he registered three telephone numbers of ours with DO-NOT-Call registry. We have not received any telemarketing calls for the past 10 days.

If you have not registered your telephone with the DO-NOT-CALL REGISTRY, telemarketing firms can keep calling you. No point getting hassled and calling telephone companies or carriers who own the telephone numbers. Carriers do not have have control on how their telephone service is being used as long as a customer pays the bill. Carriers cannot disconnect or shut down a customer who is paying the bill. Only regulators has authority to shutdown or disconnect a customer through an order. Don't blame the carrier who own the telephone number. Plus carrier cannot give customer information unless it is a supeona issued by regulatory authority.

Telemarketing firms obtains hundreds ro thousands of telephone numbers from various carrier within US and initiate calls. Hope this understanding help all of you who are getting these calls. Currently regulators are working with the carriers trying to find the source on which telemarketing firms is making these unwanted calls. For the record they know these calls are not coming from telephone company who officially own the telephone numbers.

Here's the number that is harassing me: 516-858-7178, in Long Island, NY, no less. I'm on the No Call list and I have filed a complaint with the FTC. My T-Mobile provider gives me two options after complaining: 1. Go on the no-call list and file a complaint., 2. Buy their blocking option for $6 a month, she says that all the wireless co.s have that. WHAT A CHOICE!! Where the F*** is the FCC.....the FBI should be on this also, this is misuse of communication and this is interstate commerce fraud! No one is protecting us, not the phone companies, not the business & trade organizations and not the government. This is the same or similar extended auto warranty scam that has been going around for years. However, this time, they are not forging the caller id. If you get a call from them and your number has been on the federal do-no-call list for at least 1 month, you can file a complaint with the FTC at complaints.donotcall.gov

The politicians are getting tired of this too, so filling a complaint will give them evidence they need to go after the companies behind the calls.

Sounds like another auto-warranty scam, presumably by the same bunch based out of Atlanta (404) area code. Once you get on their list, they keep spamming you. I guess the heat was on the Atlanta number, as it has a list a mile long of people complaining, so here they go again. I did a stupid thing and did one of those trivia tests, only to find out that it too was a scam. They ask for your telephone number to send the result, and they charge you for a monthly trivia text messaging service that you do not expressly agree to. The brilliant part of their sleazy business practices is that they bill your cell phone company, so there is never a part of the process that you can cancel out of. I'd get my number changed, but other than the occasional aggravating computerized telemarketer call, I have everything fixed (for now). Word to the wise - be very careful who you give anything to on the Internet, whether it be your email address, your phone number, or any other bit of info that can be used to exploit you.

This is an Identity Theft phishing scam - they tell you it is for an Extended Car Warranty, once they get your Credit Card number they charge thousands of dollars on it. They did NOT "GET YOUR NUMBER FROM SOMEWHERE". It uses a sequential number Auto-dialing computer (Calls EVERY phone number by adding 1 to the previous phone number) and is run by criminals.... they could care less about the Do-Not-Call list. The phone number seen on Caller ID is "spoofed", which means it is not the number from which the call was placed - they just pick some random number to use when the computer dials the calls. In all probability, the calls are coming from Russia, Nigeria or another one of the countries that are known for email scams - IT IS THE SAME PEOPLE that send out Email phishing scams! The worst thing you can do is answer, that validates your phone number as a "real" phone number. It is then added to a list that they originator uses REPEATEDLY to call you... and then it is put on a list that is sold to other scammers (criminals, really) at a premium price, because it is then on a list of valid cell phone numbers!

It Is Criminals Calling, do not answer!

I decided to try to call this number back and got a message that this was a disconnected number. I called again and a man with the same voice as the "disconnected message" answered. I asked to be removed from their call list and he hung up. I have received several calls from this number over the past 2-3 months.

Got tired of these guys calling...asking to be taken off their list... finally decided the best way to lock them up was to just go with the spiel. I talked to them for 30 minutes giving wild information and asking about different pricing plans etc. Ran the through the ringer! Went form one salesman to the next 'closer' up the chain. They wanted to give me a warranty for 300,000 miles - what a laugh. At any rate ....ended the call by saying "no". Haven't been called again since! I did tell them that the car I was driving had 70,000 miles - had to hand me off to a more senior rep who asked me if my car had required any 'work'. Eat them up at their own game - keep them on as long as you can!

The last week or so, I've been getting hard line auto warranty scam calls 1 - 2 times a day that can't be traced with *69. I stopped answering my phone after #2 b/c I know they'll be calling for the next few months, at least, if they get another pick up. It now rings only about 3 times, but never has left a message. THEN, my CELL phone got a call yesterday AND today from two different unknown numbers... which I didn't answer. Since that timing was very odd, I looked both numbers up online (406-454-8977 and 802-287-9997) and each has: (1) a "real person" name attached (different names) AND (2) complaints about Car Warranty harassment calls. The complaints for the 802 code (Vermont) is much shorter, so maybe it's just the latest hijacked phone number. Obviously this crook can use anybody's phone number for his caller I.D. via part of the harassment driven via computer program, but without Caller I.D., when you dial *69 it can't be traced. My hard line & cell phones are with two different companies. Recently, though, I heard someone on a TV news show explain that these Car Warranty scam calls are coming up with phone numbers randomly, via computer program, and the poor saps who give them their money, don't get any and/or get just token coverage when they have their car serviced.

I get calls from this and sevral other numbers I suggest someone set up a computer to do a traceroute or backtrace of the number when they are called, hint give your computer the ability to answer a call to your phone that already receiving these calls. I believe that there is a virus right now spread across cell phones and thats how they are getting the number [it's just a guess but you tell me if you have a virus checker on your cell] {thats what i thought} anyway I say fight fire with fire or in this case a computer with a computer. If you track down the ip these ppl are using you can call there isp and have them trace the ppl and shut them down as well as turn them over to the police.

Same old auto warranty scam, this time with a different recording, and when you call back, a supposed "option" to be removed from the list "within 5 business days." This despite already being on Do Not Call list. Senator Charles Schumer of NY has called on the FTC to investigate these people, and put an end to their shenanigans. Please support Senator Schumer in his effort. Please report all calls like these to FTC.GOV.

Keep in mind that just because it shows a number on your caller ID that doesn't mean it hasn't been spoofed. Also, you can get an internet phone number in any area code from anywhere-- that means I could dial you from San Francisco from an internet phone with a Miami area code. These illegal scammers clearly are trying to hide their tracks so they probably use a variety of techniques to obscure there actual phone number(s) and location. What this means is, if you find a number in the white pages it may be an old listing and if you harrass someone based on that information you may be attacking a completely innocent party and you yourself may be doing something illegal. It probably is worth reporting these calls to the Feds but harrassing them is likely to be counter-productive. Also note that they can easily set their caller ID to show pretty much ANY text, including "Aunt Mary", "Unknown", "Restricted", "COX Cable", or "(423)-555-3323". They could take the number of the white house and use it as their caller ID string and make you think the president is calling. So use a little brains and realize what you see in the caller ID is probably bogus. At least many of these stick with the same strings, so if you have a service or device that will selectively block by caller-ID you can usually screen out this junk, or use a whitelist for those you want to be able to reach you...

OK, this is the latest information. I did a Google search, as to whom would do business with this company.I found out that just about every major manufacturer, deals with this SLIMY COMPANY. I had a complaint against BMW and an auto financial (Westlake Financial Services, in Los Angeles)company, as well as a complaint against Hollywood Auto Broker(Los Angeles) about 2 weeks ago. So,no doubt someone has passed my telephone numbers around. I will investigate further, to see who has an affiliation with whom.

Didn't recognize the number and didn't answer. No message left. After researching to see what others have said, I'm glad I didn't answer. It is tempting to answer and tell them I don't have a car so I don't have to worry about a warranty. Of course, I do have a car and the warranty is far from expiring.

They call my cell phone at least 10 times a day. I've asked them to take me off their call probably 10 times over the last 2 months. Isn't this some sort of crime to harass people like this?

Keep getting these calls at home saying the warranty for our vehicle is about to expire and this is the final notice if you want to renew. Pressed 1 to speak to someone and they started asking for information. I politely asked who they wished to speak to and which vehicle they were calling about (we have 10 different vehicles here, lol) and they just said they needed me to confirm the vehicle that had the warranty. When I explained that I had more than one vehicle and would need to know which one they were calling in reference to, the lady got mouthy and screamed "FINE! WE'LL PUT YOU ON THE F'IN DO NOT CALL LIST!" and slammed the phone down... I hope that's the end of that...
