8th number calling me since the government shutdown. 8th number that my Nokia Lumia has now been assigned to block. Government shutdown affecting the DoNotCall registry, I suspect.

This is definitely a scam. They about lowering the rates on your credit cards and the they ask you for the card numbers and such. Report this number or block it

August 28th, 2013 Anonymous MI

Called that number back after calling me twice in 5 minutes. Said the number was not in service. A scam for sure.

July 25th, 2013 Shay MI

No message left. Second time they've called. First time was May 24, 2013. Called my pay-as-you-go cellphone.

July 22nd, 2013 Annoyed MI

Given the 13 reported calls on this site (prior to my report) and especially Martha's comment that the call she received was regarding credit cards, this number is definitely Spam and worse, a likely SCAM! The call I received was an automated message proposing to install a "free security system" in exchange for putting "a small sign in my yard". I did not stay on the line to talk to anyone - just hung up - as the call itself seemed like a scam, and now I'm certain it was.

Almost daily I get called from this number selling home security. I have pressed "2" to opt out - no good. I have pressed 1 to speak with a rep and when I tell them I have opted out and yet still receive calls, they immediately hang up.

A criminal scam, like "Rachel" and "Ann" Since the FTC, which is employed to stop these people will not do anything, it is obvious that they have a Senator or two on their payroll. On November 6 do not vote for anyone who currently holds a Senate seat. When we clean house we can use the "new broom" to sweep these criminals into the trash bin where they belong.

I am glad I was led to this site by Googling the phone number. My mother is elderly and of course, the first thing I thought when I saw this on the caller ID was that something had happened to her. TERRIBLE way to do business!

September 29th, 2012 mten ME

I picked up the phone & just listened. Didn't hear anyone so just set the phone aside until they finally hung up.

September 28th, 2012 Craig ME

Picked up on the call as it appeared that it might be a medical call from an hospital ER. Can't believe a I fell for it. I suspect that was their plan by showing Medic ER ALERT on the caller ID. Anyway the recording was about falling down and their service for pushing some button. They did not identify the company during the robo call. Press 1 to talk to a live(?) person or press 5 to be removed from their call list. Next stop is the the FTC site to file a complaint. If this was a for real company their methods are at least questionable if not a violation of the FTC rules about robo calls.

September 15th, 2012 iHearYaBro FL

I also received a call from this number with caller ID reading "Medical Alert and a recording for their services. I let it roll to voice mail and have to concur with "DoNotAnswer's" previous comment about falling down and not getting up with one exception, I'm over 50 so If these folks calling would promise me that after I push a button they track me down and pick me up off a bar room floor then their service may have some value after all...nah! Frigging telemarketers! there's' a special place in hell for telemarketers, and that's neck deep in $hit with some irritating teenager riding a Jet Ski full throttle past them (over & over for eternity) just say'in :(

August 4th, 2012 Tim OH

Called at 8:30 am. Recording said I could have a home security system installed for free. Pushed 1 to talk to a rep to tell them I am on the do not call list and that I was going to report them. Rep answered, said "Home Security" and then the line went dead. Caller ID listed the caller as Oregon.

August 3rd, 2012 Hannah LA

Didn't answer. Robocall for sure because I didn't say anything when I picked up the phone and you can hear it didn't connect.

August 1st, 2012 Cherryl

It is possible that this is a new cover ID for those wonderful people who bring you Card Services and darling Rachel. At 800notes.com, there is a full forum thread about who these people are, and how they managed to get set up with the robo call machinery that they bought from an actual company (presumably around 2008). Rachel and her friends are long gone from the scene; their voices are actually recordings made by actresses who were paid a fee for making the recordings, and went off to hopefully fame and fortune. There are numerous groups that "take turns at the table" to use the robo calling system. See also the website "On The Spot" for more details. (I don't agree with everything said at that site, but a lot of what is reported is very serious indeed.)

another scammer-spammer. report to the Attorney General office for breach of No Call List!

(503) 468-5235

June 13th, 2012 pw

We have had a dozen calls from different companies in the past 2 or 3 weeks. Regardless of the company, they all start out with "This is not a sales call. Police have reported there have been break-ins in your neighborhood."
They want to install a home security system FREE OF CHARGE in exchange for allowing them to post a sign in our yard. NO COST TO ME. Yeah, right.
There is a monthly "connection fee" to connect the system to the phone lines... usually $45 or so.
At the end of the initial pitch, they say press 1 to speak to a representative; press 9 to be removed from our call list. I have pressed 9 EVERY TIME I have gotten one of these calls. So by now I should have been removed from the call list of all these companies.
Yeah, right.

June 7th, 2012 Betty NC

Recorded message.. The FBI reports there has been an increase in home break-ins. ...... Free Security System.... This company will not stop calling.

June 6th, 2012 J CT

June 5th, 2012 jeanne WV

Think it's for a fake home security system

June 1st, 2012 Betty NC

Recording starts out that the FBI reports home break-ins. Trying to place a security system in your home if you would agree to put a sign in your front yard. Said to press 9 to be removed from their list.
Why would anyone in their right mind buy from these people or any telemarketer? I cannot believe that any legitimate company would condone such telemarketing practices. I have been on the National Do Not Call List for years and it does not stop these people from calling.
The number one quality of a person who applies for a job in telemarketing is dishonesty and the second quality is disrespect. The same call came in again three hours after the first call.

June 1st, 2012 J. W. NC

I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST. I keep getting calls from these people. Pushed 2 to be added to their do not call list. I keep getting calls. Today I acted like I was interested in the system long enough to get "Jessica" on the line and told her That I had repeatedly requested not to be called by them anymore. She hung up on me.Next time I plan to report it as a harassing call.

June 1st, 2012 G. Hart GA

Got a call and hung up. Checked out TSS, Inc. web site. This message was on their home page:
NOTE: We have been receiving a significant amount of phone calls and emails from persons being harassed by telemarketing calls. Please be assured that we do not do ANY telemarketing and we are IN NO WAY affiliated with any company that does such. We have contacted the FTC regarding this matter and they advised us to have all complaints directed to them. This is very important because the cases that get the most complaints will get the required attention. For your convenience, the FTC phone number and website address have been provided below. You will need the name or telephone number of the company that called you and the date. Along with you, we look forward to the speedy end to this unprofessional and illegal activity.

When you call that number back, it says it is a survey. You will then be prompted to hit "1" to opt out of their "list".

From what I understand from another such calling service, even though someone is on the no-call list, they claim the loop hole is that they dial numbers randomly. The law needs to close this loop hole.

When they piss off enough people, someone will hack into their system I'm sure.

That seems to help cut down on the number of REPEAT calls from these numbers, although this SCAM OUTFIT has called on numerous other numbers in the past.

But, if you are home/have your cell on you, try this. It may help to slow these SOBs DOWN!

Called my do-not-call cellphone. Hello, this is John, from Political Opinions of America. I hung up after that.

Political Opinions of America

Thursday, 29 March 2012

Political Opinions of America begin with a political survey and then offer for free a cruise from Caribbean Cruise Lines that you have to pay for. These cruises are provided by Celebration Cruise Lines. These scumbags masquerade as a political organization to get past the TCPA, the FTC and FCC. They call, try to get you to take a political survey so they can try and sell you a cruise.

800notes.com

you answer a quick survey, then they tell you to please hold for Carnival Cruises, then they go on about a lovely vacation in the Bahamas, and its completely FREE, however, they need your credit card to pay for the taxes

These folks hide their identity and are not licensed in any jurisdiction I can find with the DBAs Political Opinions of America or POA and their Legal Counsel conveniently refuses to accept service for any legal action against them. Their domain registration is cloaked and their website has no contact information.

Sanscrainte may think he is sly, but there is one thing that he overlooked. His client utilizes caller id spoofing (putting misleading information on the caller id). I could make an easy case of misrepresentation on that alone.

www.fcc.gov

Personally, I suspect Political Opinions of America are Caribbean Cruise Lines.

There are literally hundreds or even thousands of complaints about these scumbags all over the Internet. I have found no DBA/Corporate filings for [Political Opinions of America], [POA] or any variation in Florida, Delaware, New York or any other place that I can find.

They own and operate PoliticalOpinionsofAmerica.org and PoliticalOpinionsofAmerica.com which are hosted in Florida and use a domain registration cloaking service provided by godaddy aka Domains by Proxy.

The closest thing to an address of service would be their legal counsel that sent a response to a complaint about their activity.

Here is their attorney threatening one person that complained with a claim for cost for litigation:

My client, PoliticalOpinionsOfAmerica.org, has shared with me your email in which you threaten legal action against it based upon the Telecommunications Consumer Privacy Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and/or the Federal Do Not Call Registry.

PoliticalOpinionsofAmerica.org does not engage in any activity that falls under Federal telemarketing/telephone statutes (i.e., the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Federal Trade Commission’s Telemarketing Sales Rule). PoliticalOpinionsOfAmerica.org delivers political opinion and survey calls, and these are exempted under these federal statutes/regulations. In addition, PoliticalOpinionsOfAmerica.org does not engage in any activity that falls within the pertinent statutes of the State of Colorado. Accordingly, any action that you file against my client would be frivolous, and thus subject to a claim by my client for its costs associated with defending against same.

My client also immediately complies with any request to opt-out of any future calls delivered by my client, even though under Federal and State law, it is under no obligation to do so. Accordingly, if you have asserted an opt-out request, your telephone number has already been added to my client’s internal Do Not Call list. In any event, as of my writing of this email, your phone number has in fact been placed on my clients internal Do Not Call list.

This correspondence in no way provides you with permission or authorization to serve notice upon me or my office with regard to any action you may file against my client.

Here is what the New York City Bar Association had to say when Joe wanted to be a judge:

Joseph W. Sanscrainte
Not approved by reason of the candidate’s failure to affirmatively demonstrate that he possesses the requisite qualifications for the court for which he is a candidate

Personally, I would never use Caribbean Cruise Line because their representative, Political Opinions of America, in my opinion are are scum.

The Do Not Call list is totally worthless as far as tens of thousands of severely angry people are concerned -- perhaps hundreds of thousands. We have seen this during the days preceding the Louisiana primary of yesterday. Citizens were deluged with bogus calls from area codes starting with "8" and "2", and callers IDd as Wireless, Unknown, and Unrecognized. -- The phone was designed to be a private means of communications, not a shooting gallery for hacks, phonies, politicians, and "spoofers". This kind of harassment has to be stopped, but how?

This number like so many others are being spoofed by the caller to cover up his real number. I have had these also. It seems like these calls are starting up again. They had gone away for a while. There are websites on the internet where you pay so much to use their services to spoof these fake numbers to cover up theirs for whatever reason.

And...does pressing 1 actually put you on their do not call list, or is it another trick?

This same guy has called 100s of times claiming to be TSS INC. Others have called as well also claiming to be TSS INC. Each time these people are told we are on the "Do Not Call List" and not to call again. We have never signed anything stating that they can call and harrass us. We never clicked on anything for them on the Internet. We have not asked them in any way, shape, or form to call us. In fact, we have done the opposite and told them to stop calling us!!! Can't somebody stop these people from calling?

When I said hello, there was about a 2-second pause and then a man's voice, speaking heavily-accented English, came on and said "This is not a sales call," and I replied, "I don't have time for you right now," and before I could fully finish my sentence, the man interrupted and said "You will listen to me!" and at that point I hung up. The last time I checked, I was living in the United States, working and paying taxes, and no one who cold-calls me is going to tell ME what to do!

The man with the same type of accent had called me about an hour before this call, from an international phone number, who said he was not making a sales call. He asked me if I had a smoke detector in my house, if I kept checking it monthly and had fresh batteries in it (??) and I told him that I had to hang up because I was going to go inside a building to cast my vote. He said "I just need two more moments of your time," and I replied "I'm sorry, you cannot have two more moments of my time. In two moments I will be casting my vote and that takes precedence over your phone call. And furthermore, you will as of this moment, remove my name and phone number from your list, is that clear?" It was as if I was speaking in tongues..he kept talking right over me, so he got hung up on. I had more important things to do.

Both Kimm and ''E'' are correct. These credit reprice scam calls tend to be deceptive, implying that you're in financial peril if you don't play along with their game.

A mass of complaints to various channels helped the FTC b-tch-slap several ''Heathers'' and ''Rachels'' in 2010. If you hope for more prompt human assistance, file complaints with the FTC and attorneys general. Individual action through a TCPA lawsuit would be a strong suggestion, if anyone manages to corner one of these scammers long enough.
