Great, first it was Debt collectors now it's this why isn't this against the law?

Calls, lets it ring twice and hangs up.

It's not Intel - it's Dialogic. There is an Intel typo in the wild (i.e. on the 'net and indexed by search engines), but their # is actually 973-993-3030. 973-993-3000 is Dialogic.

Answered and no one was there. Twice today with different numbers. Tried to call back and message said out of service.

Phone rang twice then stopped. Caller ID showed INTEL.

let it ring twice, when i picked up and said hello, i was greeted with a dial tone... no one there! rude! thank you steve k, that sounds like what it probably is!

This call is Junk Fax. The phone number 973-993-3000 lets it ring only 3 or 4 times and hangs up. It uses a dialer make repeated calls with the expectation that it will eventually recieve a fax line. Most people dont pick up the phone in under 4 rings but most dedicated fax lines do. Some who answer quickly will hear the fax carrier, a set of steady half-second tones or a carrier that sounds much like a modem. Most will just wonder who it is. This is difficult to know because the caller id for spammers produces a false name. The result is that people hang up or desperately fear it was that creditor calling for the kill.

A little internet research shows lots of people describing the same issue. Caller id INTEL in all caps, some describe a fax carrier, others describe dead air, some called back and it was busy or no answer. Some say they got the fax but they didnt say who it was from.

Caller ID said INTEL... phone rang once then quit.

Just a bunch of beeps on the other end when I answered.

Showed up on caller ID, but nothing on the answering machine.

2:33 pm today - rang once and hung up.

I think it is an automatic dialer that dials 1-2 numbers at once. The person to pick up first is the "lucky" sod to listen to their spiel!

I was called as well, no voice at the other end, how do they make money through hanging up on us, I wonder what this scam is about. Well I googled them and they are some technology providers, (laugh) if you'd like to email them they are at, sales@dialogic.com and sales are sales@dialogic.com

Call today at 3:30 from 973-993-3000. No one on the other end.

Out of town, so I don't answer the phone. They let it ring three times.

I didn't have a chance to answer the phone because it only rang a couple of times. There was only the phone number on the call display.

There was no-one on the other end when I answered. There was no name on my caller ID either. The call was received on a business line.

Suspect it was a telemarketer using predictive dialling and a VoIP outbound number

Edmonton, AB. Got this call today 5 minutes after I got a call from 231-224-2057 (MICHIGAN). Wasn't home to answer, but they're still really annoying.

Caller ID said "New Jersey"
