This number has called already 5 times today and will not say a word after I answer. After 5 seconds, the call hangs up. Please make it stop!

"certified payment processing" is a certified scammer, according to their "F" rating from Better Business Bureau. Slick telemarketers who are quick with rebuttals to your lack of interest in their services over the phone. They call over and over demanding to speak only to the owner of your business, and are extremely pushy trying to get you to agree to an appointment with their sales person. Talking to them is a waste of time, just hang up on them and block their phone number through your phone service provider. If you haven't yet had the misfortune of being waylaid on the phone by them, go ahead and block their number anyway, and enjoy peace of mind.

I have my business calls forward to my cell phone and set up a block for the number after I find out the intention. I always have fun with a sleaseperson (no typo) the first time they call. Yesterday I had a newspaper wanting to sell a home delivery subsciption. Told them I was blind and asked if this is someone trying to play a joke cause it wasn't funny. The girl was so apologetic I felt a little guilty. I know that this may offend some people but why get mad, get even.

2013-02-20 17:48:58 UTCBill

When I saw that I had missed 4 calls within 10 minutes, I answered the call assuming that it was my UPS rep. The woman was rushing through a sales script trying to confirm my address. When she stopped for a breath, I asked for her company and reason for calling. She said CPP, a credit card processing company. When I asked if her notes showed that I write books on credit card processing, she stammered then apologized then hung up.

CPP is also the name given a certification given by an Association of credit card processing companies. It is unfortunate that the acronym for Certified Payments Profession matches a company that seems to do the opposite of the ideals behind the certification.

While I lack the time time to harass those that call and call and call, I certainly can understand the desire to.

If you get a call from them, here's what I suggest. Find a phone line that can't be traced, block you number or use Skype or something. Then call them back. They have a voice menu that can get you transferred. Leave them a message telling them to google their own number and see what a scam company they work for. If possible, call lots of times, leave lots of messages. One of their executives is named Mike Hutchinson. The head of marketing is Leo, I don't know his last name but its something like Farris. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

2012-12-17 18:41:40 UTCRena

They have called 4x today, they don't say anything, just an empty line until it disconnects. What the hell is the point in that? Thank God for caller ID, I will no longer pick up CPP calls.!

2012-12-03 17:49:49 UTCkscott

RELENTLESS! These peole (or person) who calls from this number WILL NOT GIVE UP. I pick up ----then hang up immediately. I don't have time for this nonsense. Whoever originally spoke with me when i first answered this call sounded like they had gym socks in their mouth. Ridiculous.

2012-11-15 21:46:37 UTCBob

called 6 times today

2012-10-10 15:50:06 UTCJoelvet

Save these unwanted #'s on your i phone, using Sonar ringtone. Then these calls will barely bother u.

2012-09-07 17:16:39 UTCMi

It's a sale call. They are misleading and try to sound like they are coming to check you CC transaction machine. It's a scam and just a ploy to get you to agree to a sale call. They sell the processing equipment.

2012-08-01 13:56:41 UTCLisa

This number calls my business every day. This morning they called, asked if I was the owner, I told them I was not interested in anything from them and hung up. They called right back and said do you understand what we are trying to talk to you about? I again said not interested, thank you, and hung up again. Something really needs to be done about these scammers. Don't give any info out to anyone.

2012-04-24 15:35:46 UTCallen

they call me every damn hour....

2012-01-20 16:05:51 UTCnew business

They said that they would be in the hollywood area..and wanted to inform businesses of a new government mandate that reduces credit card billing rates...they wanted to know if I would be in my office mon or tues. After reading this site I called them back and requested to have my number removed from their call list. I have a credit card processing provider already. Dont need them trying to hoodwink me

2011-10-27 19:36:36 UTCAmy Ellis

I have received these calls for at least 4mos. Over 5 to 6 times daily. They are calling my business and disrupting it greatly. I want this to stop or I will pursue legal action.

2011-09-15 15:51:25 UTCbe careful

Never EVER give these people ANY of your information. Do not say your name. Do not say the word "yes" because they will scramble a recording of you on the phone to make it sound like you consented to charges on your credit cards, etc. This is happened at my place of business before. They are major scammers. They have tried this before with us, and also called 5 times in the last 1.5 hours. They are quick to hang up.
Save yourself the frustration and don't even answer!
If you have talked to these people PLEASE CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS!!!!!

2011-07-20 15:22:47 UTCMary

I do not answer calls that I do not know it is that is calling,... always check my ID,.... this says CPP,...? They have called 7-8 times yesterday and today...! Why?

I have hung up (pushed the talk button and quickly pressed off) on them,.. also pressed the talk and waited,... no one said anything then they hung up!

My number IS on the Do Not call registry!

2011-01-20 23:39:37 UTCHorrified

JUST ANOTHER PHONE POND SCUM CALL...

2010-08-19 20:38:59 UTCMatt

Yup, these guys are bad news. We signed up to be able to block certain callers from calling our phone so we promptly added this number to our blocked calls list. They did the usual, "...can I speak to the manager or owner", calling about overages on your checking and credit card accounts"..., then when I started to drill them they hung up. Thank you telephone company for the call blocking feature. These guys called us about 5 times this week!

2010-08-16 19:30:51 UTCLaura

All I know is they keep calling and hanging up, all day long today. They need to figure it out already I'm trying to run a business and it ties up the lines, not to mention is quite annoying.

2010-08-03 17:23:57 UTCLinsey

They call my place of business every single day and I've told them MULTIPLE times to quit calling here. I spoke to a supervisor today and told them that if the calls continue, this is HARASSMENT and I have no problem following up with that.
We are a BUSINESS and therefore do not have time for this kind of crap, and I'm tired of them interrupting our day. HOPEFULLY after the three calls this morning (before 11am) all of which ended with me yelling at their supervisor, the calls will stop.

2010-07-06 18:45:54 UTCCindy

I actually phoned the number back and spoke with Latisha in customer service. I told her if the calls didn't cease that I would report them to the Better Business Bureau. Then I told her to google this website to see the type of company she worked for. I told her it is not a legitimate company and that I would be embarrassed to work for such a place. She wanted to know which telephone number I dialed, then said it would be 24 hours before the calls stopped. I'll keep you all posted!

2010-06-25 15:48:09 UTCapril

This company calls both our store lines several times a day. When I finally figured out they were sales calls, I stopped bothering answering the phone. Last week, despite my warnigs to him, the owener answered and after asking the girl on the other end numerous questions about what she wants, what does the company do, etc.-told her to not call back. we have no need for your services. We were getting just as many calls from them the next day. I just answered and asked the girl "is this a sales call?" she said "no." and then hung up. I called the number and asked for customer service and told the girl who answered to take us OFF their call list-it's disruptive to have to answer the phone 9 times a day only to get asked if I'm the owner and be hung up on. She agreed to take us off the list. Man-even if we DID need whatever it is they're trying so desperately to sell, I'd never use them-they're way too annoying.

FIRST AMERICAN PAYMENT SYSTEMS LP is the umbrella name for all of these companies:
AMERICA ONE
APPSTAR FINANCIAL
Eliot Management
FIRST ADVANTAGE
MERIMAC CAPITAL
Summit Merchant Solutions
TMG
TMS Certified Merchant Services
TMS Merchant Services
TRANS TECH
Transaction Merchant Services
TransTech Merchan Group
TRANSTECH MERCHANT GROUP

The BBB gives them a D- (minus), and they have a long history of complaints you can see here:
fortworth.bbb.org

HERE'S A FUN TRICK:
To get a list of every phone extension in their company, call their main number at: 972-428-5200 and press 4. You can then enter a name to get that extension. It also lets you then browse by pressing 1 and 3. Many listings give the name of the person, their position within the company, the extension number and even cell phone numbers! In the directory of names, you will hear the various company names that include Transtech, TMG and Summit Merchant Solutions.

If you are angry and have a little time, this would be a great way to waste theirs and rock the boat in a way that may actually annoy them. You may actually speak to someone important who can actually do something. Or at least it may motivate them to stop being so evil.

2010-06-07 15:43:38 UTCNorma

I have received 2 different calls in the last week. One last week was from Spokane, WA. The jerk that called just ask to talk to my husband,(and did not identify himself) but he called my husband by name. We have a small business, so alot of the contractors we work for do that. I handed the phone to my husband and my husband agreed to meet with the salesman. When he showed up at our office, I went out in the back with the boys, I refused to deal with him, my husband then told him we were too busy to sit and talk, took his paper work and ran him off. I then had a buisness card and I emailed him and told him since he had not identified himself or tell us who he worked for UP FRONT, we were not going to deal with him and to please not come back to our office. Well, the salesman decided to call me back and tell me how rude I am and that I am very unprofessional. (look who's calling the kettle black). Then this morning I got a call from the Carallton, Tx number and again, no identification, but they wanted to talk to the owner,. I said I was the co owner, but before she could say anything I ask, what is your business? She did tell me they were calling about my merchant services account.....blah blah blah....I told her, just never mind, that I was not dealing with her. She just said, "Well, OK" and hung up. This is so much crap!

Doing a little more research I found...

ripoffreport.com

Here is one specific post with their BDA names and BBB history:

Be very wary before doing business with these companies!

Here's their BBB report.

The company's size, volume of business and number of transactions may have a bearing on the number of complaints received by the BBB. The complaints filed against a company may not be as important as the type of complaints, and how the company has handled them. The BBB generally does not pass judgment on the validity of complaints filed.
Number of complaints processed by the BBB

in the last 36 months: 225

in the last 12 months: 114

With so many complaints, I would bet this in not an isolated incident.

2010-04-12 17:06:39 UTCMurphy

Initial call asked to "verify information" the solicitor was misleading and wouldn't state what they needed this for.

A day later a sales person walks in the door stating they have an appointment with the owner. I asked if he was playing games, he said he wasn't. He was then promptly shown the door.

Five minutes later some representative from the company feels the need to call to CONTINUE to sell their products to us. Apparently those at Trans Tech Merchant aren't bright enough to understand the phrase "We don't need your services". The highlight of my experience with the company came from the response "why don't you quit being an asshole"! Alas I'm not the person playing games trying to sell me a service I don't need.

2010-03-15 19:21:36 UTCDigital Eyes

Trans Merchant Group - says their calling to make sure the "equipment" is "up to standards" or some such nonsense. We do not have any affiliation with "TMG" and have no idea who they really are.

2010-02-26 21:42:28 UTCLSE

This company has been calling my house every day for weeks. I accidently answered the phone last week and the woman said she was calling to review my overdraft charges for my small business, had my address, and insisted she was setting up an appointment to come by my location to review my statements. I tried to get off the phone but before hanging up she said they'd come by Tuesday. I reiterated that I did not want them to come by, she agreed and we hung up. Still calling 2-3 times a day. Tomorrow I'll ask to be added to their do not call list to see if that helps, haven't tried that yet.

2010-01-20 22:58:16 UTCCARS INC

THEY CALL ME ALMOST EVERYDAY AND SAY THEY ARE IN THE AREA AND WANT TO COME BY AND CHECK FOR HIDDEN FEES ON MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENTS BUT THEY ALWAYS HAVE THE ADDRESS WRONG AND I NEVER GIVE THEM THE CORRECT ONE BUT I DO MAKE THE APPOINTMENT EVERY TIME AND THEY HAVE YET TO SHOW UP. I CANT WAIT UNTIL THEY DO SOMEDAY I'M GOING TO CHARGE FOR MY TIME AND WE'LL SEE HOW FAR THAT GOES.
I HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THEIR LIST SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST AND THEY SOMEHOW STILL CALL. I WISH THERE WAS SOMEWAY TO REALLY MAKE THEM STOP!!

2009-12-15 17:53:28 UTCJAX

Received a call from this number today from "Karen". She asked for the owner and when I said "she's not available right now, can I leave a message" she said "nevermind" and I said "wait, hey Karen, before you hang up on me..." click. I was going to explain that if they don't leave a message they will never get in contact with the owner, and honestly I don't feel like going through this everyday. So I called this number back and got the receptionist "Mary" who said it was just a sales call and they can take mne off the list. I asked what is the company and what do they offer before she removes us. It's a credit card machine company and she can just take me off the list. I said you guys haven't offered a sales pitch or anything and keep offering to take me off the list so go ahead. How dumb. First rule of sales is to never let the customer off the line.

I was having a bad day and answered the phone screaming, "Who are you and what do you want?" A girl on the other end asked to speak to the owner or co-owner. I told her this was a rental and there was no owner. She hung up. I figured it was one of these scam artists who are trying to cash in on the "Refinance your house rather than go into foreclosure" boom.

2009-08-04 16:50:11 UTCLA

They called twice about an hour apart. The first time they hung up. The second call mentioned that they were verifying my name and address. Not that I replied to them. They said they were going to come tomorrow to check my business records for overages on charges on master Card and Visa. I asked who they were? They insisted that they will stop by to verify my record keeping. I asked for a manager and exactly what time of business they have! They hung up......I am going to call the police.

2009-07-23 14:34:00 UTCBrian

received a call from 972 428 5200. They said they wanted to make an appointment talk to the owner about overdrafting on my checking account. After I said that it is not a good time they said o.k. 4:30 tomorrow and hung up.
(They were trying to call a business I no longer have.)

2009-07-20 16:07:29 UTCclara

This call is a sales call but they try to trick you into thinking they are a company you are already doing business with such as your own merchant account processor. I asked if the caller was trying to sell me something and he vehemently denied that it was a sales call. He insisted on speaking with the owner of the company regarding "over charges on our merchant account" or something like that. I told him I would be able to help him. He asked if I was an owner and when I told him no, he said he would only speak with the owner and hung up.

2009-06-01 16:41:50 UTCkd

THEY CALL 2 OR 3 TIMES EVERY SINGLE DAY AND DONT SAY A WORD. THEY ALWAYS WANT TO TALK TO THE OWNER. I HAVE TOLD THEM TIME AND TIME NOT TO CALL AGAIN.

2009-03-27 16:42:42 UTCTina

I receive numerous calls from this company everyday asking for the owner or co-owner. I just called them and spoke to the operator who took down my number and told me I would be added to their do not call list. We'll see if it works....

Tina

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:

Click for call blocker
