This phone number is calling to try to SCAM money for the FL Fraternal Order of Police. I have NOT called the number, nor will I. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions using potentially manipulative techniques, help you waste your donation on fundraising fees, or anything else related to the FOP getting a small fraction of your donation, 12% to 27% Some fundraiser's pocket as much as 73% to 90% and up. Also, there’s information on badgefraud.org on the massive numbers of warnings put out by FOP Lodges that do not use so called professional fundraisers and Real Police and Sheriff and Fire Departments. But you can contact them there with any questions or requests.

BadgeFraud (dot) org is doing a lot of really great things for POLICE OFFICERS FAMILIES and the people that post are NOT trying to raise money, they are trying to protect the money of the people who protect us, and that is something very good.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE GROUP ON THIS PAGE< BUT IT IS ABOUT ANOTHER POLICE GROUP>

THIS IS OUR PUBLIC EDUCATION CAMPAIGN ABOUT POLICE FIRE VETERAN"S AND CHILDREN'S CHARITIES. It can happen anywhere and when it does we would love to hear from you.

As for the group on this page, it would be a good idea to let your fundraiser know we are out here and now you know that we are looking at them too. I would not let them misrepresent because the first time they do and we catch them, it's all over with but the crying.

Officer Down Foundation,

This is a message from Rev. James revjames@pfcl.org of the Holy Land Spiritual Church Inc. in Maryland and its integrated auxiliary Police Fire Crimeline (The Badge Fraud Tip Reporting Hotline) badgefraud.org

I am only going to tell you this one time. Don't you dare come out here on to this or any other board and try to say you are trying to help fallen police officers. You are not trying to help anyone but yourselves. You think I am going to let you talk to these people who are trying to protect themselves from you in that condescending manner. Let me see if I can explain this to your two week on the job backside. Officer Down Foundation's program is to teach Crisis Chaplaincy to Chaplains, it is not to provide benefits to the families of officers killed, they only pitch that because their real program would not get them one single donation, and every time you say they are providing benefits to families of officers killed it is a lie and a misrepresentation and is potentially criminally actionable against you personally as well as your bosses David Fair, Paul Kutac, Phil Leconte and David Deriks.

I will bet you did not know that those are the same group of guys that run the Police Protective Fund and American Association of Police Officers and the Junior Police Academy. These men are so honest and hard working that even after several states sued the pants off of them they had to go out and start another identical fake charity. Remember "Operation False Charity"? Yeah, wow, they were part of it, and now look at who has come to defend them and their new carbon copy of the Multi State proven fraud the Police Protective Fund and by extension The Crisis Chaplin Project.

You, a person that I already know has maybe 2 weeks experience on the phone. I am going to offer you some sage advice from one of your elders in what is left of that industry. GET A NEW JOB! This one is about to disappear.

Now, you have called into 6 of my 50 states and misrepresented yourselves, Maryland, Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee and North Carolina and that is a problem for your organization because that is where my organization is located and our mission is to protect charitable dollars specifically raised in the name of Officers Killed in the Line of Duty. Now let me tell you what my organization does. We search out and report fraudulent Police Fire Veteran's and Children's Charities and their professional fundraisers. We protect the money of the people who protect us.

If anyone reading this wants to help with a donation for us to keep going after these scams, feel free to email me and lets talk. revjames@pfcl.org And unlike David Fair attempting to claim 501 c3 status before it is granted, Churches, like the Holy Land Spiritual Church in the United States are granted automatic 501 c3 status so you know you can deduct your donation from your taxes when the law allows.

We also recruit former professional police fundraisers as volunteers to help us go after groups like yours and you would be welcome to join us as well. And we always want to hear any tips on fraudulent activity in public safety charities so we can report them too. The days of diverting money from non profits and charities that really give their money to the families of officers killed in the line of duty, are OVER!

What a coincidence that would be huh? A church and a Minster going after a Chaplain, I would say God called one of us and the other has a big problem not just on earth, but after life too.

Do you know how much easier our job would be if your Officer Down Foundation did not exist?

I am not the kind of minister you are probably familiar with that gets up on Sunday morning to preach about Fire and Brimstone. I am the kind of minister that BRINGS Fire and Brimstone to your doorstep.

See the problem for your organization is that because of your fraudulent activity, you are making us expend our donor’s money to investigate you because you see, that is what OUR donors (Holy Land Spiritual Church) gave their money too and they knew full well that they were giving their money for us to go after groups like yours.

That would be the exact opposite of your group where the donor’s think they are giving to the families of officers killed in the line of duty but what you dont tell them is that the money they donate is really going to David Fair's personal mission of this "Crisis Chaplain" concept.

Well if you did not know we existed before I am not surprised, they never tell you phone jockey's anything, but you are about to know we exist now.

It is our duty and responsibility to protect our donor’s money and the only way for us to do that in the case of the Officer Down Foundation is for them to shut down voluntarily or we must sue the pants off of your group until you are ended. Oh and that is not all you have to look forward too, in North Carolina where you are calling, what you are doing is considered to be a class H felony.

GET A NEW JOB! THE FREE RIDE IS OVER! WE ARE COMING TO SHUT YOU DOWN!

Sincerely,

Rev. James

I have already blocked 15+ phone numbers this organization has used in the past.

My brother and husband are both in law enforcement in the State of Florida.
When I have gotten phone calls before they are rude and unprofessional when told to please stop calling (and that you have asked multiple times and always are told we'll remove you).

My parents were out of state for several years (back in the 1990s) and they were getting tickets to functions and saying they HAD to pay for the tickets that they had ordered. I called up the phone number to inquire and I was told that a rep from this company TALKED to my parents and that THEY had ordered them. I told him that was impossible and he was like and why is that. I told him this was MY phone number now, I lived in their house and that they have been out of state for YEARS. SO no one from their organization spoke to them and that it was illegal to do what they are doing.

I got the response well they have donated before so it was ASSUMED they would continue to do so. I told him again, it is STILL illegal to do what they are doing. I also informed him that BOTH my brother and my husband were in law enforcement. He changed his rude behavior and then went on to say it was just a clerical mistake. I told there was no mistake, what they did was illegal and is being reported.

THIS IS WHY they use different phone numbers and different company names.

ALSO, it would be a conflict of interest for an actual law enforcement personnel to be calling and doing the admin work. Therefore the people you are speaking with are not in law enforcement.

When my mom made the mistake answering a few months ago and realized it was THEM she told the man that she did not have time now, she was being polite.
Well, the man said quickly, "OK no problem I will just send you the ________________________ and you can pay!"

She was like "Whoa, I NEVER said anything about ordering ____________________ and what you are doing is illegal, I know what you are doing and it will not work with me."

The he started with the rudeness and the well you know these men and women give their lives up to people like YOU. She said, yeah I know my SON and son in law are in law enforcement AND you can make sure we give but not to the likes of YOUR organization. Charity is given to those you need it NOT to organizations that get $1 and give pennies to those in need.

If you want to donate to families of fallen officers and such, check with your local law enforcement.
This organization takes your money and FIRST they pay the companies that they hire to make the calls, the admin and the middle person, so the actual families are given LITTLE.

Not only that they have unprofessional and rude telemarketers who think they can intimidate people by acting like jerks.

Called at 9:00am on 11/12/09. Caller ID showed FL FOP FNDN. They got my answering machine but didn't leave a message. I did a little research and apparently the number belongs to a telemarketing firm "Corporations for Character." It is the company the Florida FOP hired to fund raise for the Fraternal Order of Police Memorial Foundation which is a legit 501(c)(3) tax deductible charity. Apparently the foundation funds a memorial for fallen police officers and provides scholarships. The FOP itself is a professional organization that deals with police issues and backs political candidates etc. It is not a tax deductible charity itself. So I guess it's legit as far as it goes, but after looking high and low for info on how much of a given donation actually gets to the fund after the telemarketer gets his cut and other admin fees etc. , I couldn't find any useful info. And as we all know, professional telemarketers have a very poor record for getting the money to those they ostensibly collect for. If the memorial fund sounds like a good idea to you, I'd suggest finding the Florida FOP web site and donating directly to the fund.

My 7 year-old daughter answers the call from (941)866-7923 number. Immediately when she hands me the phone, I hear this "sales" talking guy in a condesendent tone telling who he thought was still my daughter who is he from and not to worry that she wasn't in trouble... When I asked who was speaking, he immediately hung up... just shameful!

THIS GUY THAT CALLED WAS A TOUGH GUY. hE ASKED FOR THE LADY OF THE HOUSE, WHEN ASKED TO REMOVE THE NUMBER FROM THE CALL LIST AND DO NOT CALL ANYMORE, HE SAID HE WOULD ADD IT TO OTHE LISTS.

fRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE HAVE A INTERNAL PROBLEM. SENDING THIS EMAIL TO MY STATE REPRESENTATIVE ALSO

2009-11-06 01:35:21 UTCJoey

Okay, tonight I got another call from "Florida FOP". Each time, it's with a slightly different name, sometimes a different phone number. When I asked about the name discrepancy, they said they "didn't know."

Over the past year and a half, I have called them three times and told them to remove my number from their list. They said no problem each time. Yet here we are November 05, 2009 and still they persist.

Well, I recently called my local police department and asked them if they knew anything about any Fraternal Order of Police soliciting money over the phone. The officer I spoke to said that the only Florida FOP he knew of is an internal police organization, not a charity outfit, and that the legit FFOP certainly never goes out soliciting funds from anyone. I also asked my next door neighbor, who is a deputy for the county, and he said the same thing. He further advised me that if I continue to get these calls that I should file a complaint. Interestingly enough, he said he got two calls from them about six months ago but the calls stopped when he told them he himself was a deputy!

Well, I've already complained to the FTC and my local BBB. Needless to say, this outrageous incident with such a weird outfit has made me become extremely suspicious of charity callers. I think you should be too.

Incidently, I've also found out that these telemarketers know exactly who 800notes.com is, as well as Ripoffreport.com, and Whocalled.us, three websites that really bug the hell out of them bigtime. They hate the bad comments, obviously, but especially hate the fact that the comments reach tens of thousands of people, including law makers, investigators, lawyers, consumer advocate groups and other such organizations, all who are their arch-enemies. Therefore, it makes me wonder who the posters really are who put glowing positive comments about the "FOP" telemarketers.

2009-11-02 18:28:24 UTCLP

I sent a message to their email address, which is info@floridastatefop.org, and requested to be taken off of their call list. I have never given my phone number to their organization and I'm on the do not call list.

2009-11-02 15:58:39 UTCLR

I believe FL FOP FNDN is an abbreviation for the Florida Fraternal Order of Police Foundation, when I tried to find it in a search engine, that's what came up.

2009-10-31 17:57:26 UTCrich

Told them last call not to call again, got a smart-ass

2009-10-10 00:53:24 UTCawake

and another # 941 866 7923. Think a key it is to find WHO are giving those numbers away. Already reported it to FTC FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. Please If you got a phone call from them do the same. The FTC # is 1 877 382 4357.I strongly believe that together we can stop it.

2009-10-09 14:58:37 UTCme

ugggh. they called so early in the morning, too! how rude.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker (click pictures below for price and reviews).
