How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Yes Cheryl, but after seeing the number on the caller id 3 times a day for the past week, I start to wonder who it actually is which is why I answered. After all, this site is meant to identify companies that use numbers (its called whocalled.us)...
"Hello. Hello? Hello!" I've been following these complaint call sites for some three years now, and here is an idea that is worth trying: Don't answer the call by saying "Hello". Answer with "Good morning" or "Good afternoon" or even "How are you doing?" According to 800notes.com, where I got this from, the robo-call machines are rigged to respond to "Hello". Anything else throws them off-kilter.
My mantra for all of this is still: Get Caller ID. If you see a name and/or number you don't recognize, don't answer the call. Simple.
Ok I just commented about the two calls at 8:01pm and 8:23pm, they called me again at 8:53pm! This time they didn't get scared and hang up. The woman calling stated she was calling from "Matthews Survey". So I assume it is something political related but can't be sure. I can't even be sure she is in the 941 area code. Anyway, I stated, "I'm not going to be answering any survey and just to give you some advice, your organization would have a lot more credibility if a real number and and your firm's name showed up on my caller id instead of "Unknown Caller", bye".
I've been getting these calls daily on my caller id. Tonight I answered it and it was an autodialer, where you have to say hello several times to get the one calling you to says hello. Then the guy finally answers with a hello, I tell him "I've already said hello several times" and then he hung up on me. I'm familiar with this area code, its in Manatee/Sarasota County Florida. I don't know how they can get away with representing themselves as a 000-0000 number. Update as I just am typing this they called again! This time I say, "Yeah I'd like to know why my caller id shows 941-000-0000, where you are calling from and what is your business". Again, they hung up on me. Don't know if its political or a scam (another reporting website had a user state this same number wanted to know their SSN). Mystery.
