How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

They just change their number to 1-206-397-1543
These calls originate from a company based in the U.S. The Canadian DNC Registry doesn't apply to them, unfortunately, so they think that they're free to call us with impunity.
Perhaps the only way for Canadians to deal with it is to file a complaint at the Canadian Anti-Fraud Call Centre. More info at:

Wow after reading other messages here we're not alone in these annoying calls Sure hope something can be done soon.
They keep calling and calling and I am sick and tired of these unidentified calls coming, something has to be done and have these followed up on and have them charged

Telemarketer who gets my answering machine during business hours in a day – calls back same machine same days-- twice or three times a day ??? Call block often does not work because calls are outside of normal service ? And the DO NOT CALL lists go ignored .Call Trace is a waste of time an money –RCMP –OPP wont respond unless followed with a recorded death threat or action of bodily harm . We can talk to a satellite with a cell phone but they cant make a effective way to stop these kinds of calls –sad!!!! :O(

Just got a call from this number, but did not answer it as I did not recognize the area code or number. After reading what people have posted about this number I am glad I didn't. Definatley won't pick up, if they call again in the future.
I get this approach every couple of months - an Automated Dialing Announcement Device (A.D.A.D) saying that I can get lower interest rates on my credit card(s).
When I connected to a live operator, I asked her where she was calling from; she said that she was calling from California. This is surely a scam - how can an American company give me lower rates on my credit card(s)
I played along until the operator asked me for my phone number. I replied that I don't give out my phone number to people that I don't know. She persisted three times asking me for my phone mumber, so I hung up
It pisses me off that people think it is OK to invade my privacy without consent, on the phone service that I pay for. Now if they want to pay for my time and the use of the service I pay to use MYSELF then contact me by mail to negotiate a salary.

I had a call from them today and I told the lady that I don't have any credit cards so I didn't know why she was calling. She said "what are you stupid?" And she said that she'll keep calling me. I'm from toronto, canada and if you dial *57 it reports the last number that you received to the police department. So I did it and I also contacted rogers and they filed a complaint and I will also cal the ontario provincial police and file harrassment. If I ever find out who they are.. Ill take their asses to court..!! We'll have the last laugh, not them.
It was a prerecorded message that had a "Final" warning my credit card was deliquent. When a person finally came on, I asked which card they were calling about and what bank he was calling from. His response was "weren't you listening to the message...what are you stupid?" and then hung up before I could ask his name or who he was calling on behalf of.
did a little research, this number is spoof. not from "Philippines", cause if it does it should display as "011 63 929 200 9110". Also the time that you receive their call is a factor too. Philippines is in different time zone. what about from "Florida", if so they don't have to spoof the number. call from outside of CANADA is exempt. logic tell me that the call is within CANADA, cause it's illegal to call people on the DNCL. people say they are "scammer" or "criminal". but look, at least they respect the labor law. not work over times or in statutory holidays. what is the odd you encounter criminal doing that. so it all came down to one conclusion, it relate to our country's fine debt mgt. co.(which one I don't know, but I think CRTC or RCMP must know). and does collection agencies have anything to do with it. I check and a number of agencies does mention debt mgt. in their website. I just hope someone from our govn't can
got a call this morning at 9:30am. As some people suggested the call is from philippines(929 area code). I doubt about that, cause it would be 10:30pm in philippines time. I think the calls are from either Ontario or Quebec. They mask their number and I think it belong to a debt management company instead. These kind of companies usually affiliated or owned by collection company. that's why most operator are so nasty.
CRTC should know who they are by now(please post the company name out) and I think Revenue Canada should also caught up with these people too. Hope we all can have some peace & quiet over the New year.
The same lousy losers that keep doing it and keep changing the number. This time though, it was the same but EXTREMELY garbled voice in the recorded message when I picked up. I hung up right away as usual, and used *69. I am continually filing complaints with the National Do Not Call List and will do again. Obviously fake if they keep changing it and can't use a real one.
I got this call as well. Pressed "1", when the woman came on I asked which company I was speaking with and she hung up. Tried to call the # back, "cannot be completeded as dialed"
Ontario, Canada. They're fishing for personal info. They must have bought some stollen card numbers. Apparently you can buy these online for just pennies. Only way to stop them is education. Call or write your local and/or favorite media. The more often they report on these "scams" the less effective the scams become.

A recorded voice said to press 1 for lower interest rates and 2 to decline the offer. I just waited few seconds, then 'Gary' came on the line and asked if I had pressed 1 for lower credit card rates. I asked "which card?" He immediately hung up, which indicates they are fishing for credit card info.

Allege to work for the all of the Banks to lower your interest rates. Would not reveal ownership or intent. Aggressive and poor attitude.
They claimed to have sensitive information by bank should only have. Asked them what it was -- it was totally wrong. They were phishing. Worked up through 2 supervisors before line was cut in mid-reply, presumably by someone on that end monitoring the conversation and realizing I was onto them.
Reported to my bank, they are pursuing it.
BTW, it's a company based in Florida, relayed from Georgia.

I got the automated message and pressed '1'. The agent answered and asked, did you get the automated message? I said yes, it didn't make sense. Which card are you calling about? He went on a rant about how I was a stupid Canadian asshole. I started laughing. After a minute or so he hung up.
They called twice today at 11:04 am and 11:23 am. I don't answer unless I know the number, or a name comes up on caller ID that I actually know.
Automatic dialling and recording device with recorded message from "Card Services with important message. Press 1 for agent." I pressed 1 for agent, got Monica, asked for supervisor, she hung up.
i answer and get a prerecorded msg saying something to effect of "last and final notice on credit card debt owed" the msg doesnt say what credit card..for more info press 1///i do this and get some guy laughing in background who obviously doesnt even know the phone has been answered... when he finally answers ( in some language i can barely understand) i confront him and he hangs up.///he is now on my call block list.

Same exact problem here. I hate these assholes. In the future I will lead them on a little and do some investigating until they disclose who they are.
Call my house all the time, and refuse to put me on a do not call list. Won't say who they are. Like Matt says, they "acknowledge my request to be removed from their list with a hang-up." In fact, they hang up at the first hint that you are on to them.
