How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).

Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

When I answered it was a recording stating "Patient Financial Services, if you are (recording stated my name) push 0, if not hang up. I pushed 0 because I have some new patient bills just newly accrued and since they got my name correctly. Then I was put on hold and promptly disconnected. When I called back that number 919-719-2940 it just rang and rang and rang and rang and nothing happened, so I hung up. Next time, when I read "unavailable" on my Caller ID - I will be sure NOT to push zero to confirm who I am....that's for sure.!!
By the way, I am not late on any of these newly accrued bills. Also, since 2 people here identified ASC - I want to add that ASC is my mortgage company - they were not my original mortgage company but that one sold it and it got sold again to ASC (American Service Company) - and I have never had a problem with them in 3 years, possibly 4. They even lowered my monthly payment $200 a month LAST year. So, I like them actually *grins*.

I let the answering machine take the call. It was a recorded message from some collection agency for some person I don't know. They evidently had the wrong number when they called me.
