Spoofing as a number local to a supposed debtor is a growing dirty trick of the collectors. Federal law demands a little more transparency than that, just my opinion.

they called using a local exchange auto dialer with a pre-recorded message that I listened to instructing me to call them back. that type of call would get my hair ruffled even if they were calling for me as I feel it reflects a complete disregard for my time and resources. I returned the call and was questioned but as it turns out the call was not for anyone that lived in my house. This put me thru the roof. After several calls and being elevated to layers of management I could not get an answer to my question. In fact they treated me as if they were entitled to call me.
My question was finally answered by someone that sounded like he was born in the area and that the auto dialer and prerecorded message was cheaper than if they had to call in person. After all was said and done I can assure everyone that the call was infinately more expensive in both time and resources. I was on lunch at the time but their normal course of business was severly interrupted..
I encourage all that feel that this company needs a lesson in manners to call 201-204-1483 and let them know you do not appreciate the way they conduct their affairs.

I started getting calls since I took over a number recently, I have to say the initial calls I was getting from these people were annoying since it was a automated caller then they try to transfer you to an agent. the first 5 calls the agent dropped the line - I could hear them babbling in the background to other agents. I called back and let them know I was not the droids they were looking for. The person who answered asked me if I was XXX person I said no. They will remove me from their list -- hopefully.

Ya i've had some calls from these guys i don't really know what everyones issue is with them they treated me with full respect and dignity that i deserve. I realize that there number is blocked but common people the reason the economy is the way it is, is because no one wants to pay there bills. We all need to call these people back and try to work something out in regards of all our legal matters.

Collection agencies are not affected by the DNC registry!!! They have a legal right to contact you because they have legitimate business with you. Now being harassed for a donation for something...that's what the registry is for.

These people call several times a week.
They always leave the same recording on my callnotes messaging service about a contact agreement.
I just delete their messages.

I have received calls from this phone number at least every other day for the past month or so. When I answer, there is silence. Finally, I called the number back. A man answered, saying that it "Global" something or other company, looking for a person whose name I don't recognize. I asked to be removed from the call list immediately, the guy said I wouldn't receive any more calls. My fingers are crossed.

I will not answer calls from #'s I am not familiar with -- this # calls my home phone EVERY DAY! This man states "you have a 48 hour deadline regarding a very urgent financial matter. Noncompliance to a contact agreement -- you must comply with this 48 hour policy. Call me at 866-577-5827. He doesn't state a company # or even his own name! I will not call the 866# -- how do you get these type of calls to stop?!?!?!?!

I got a call on my home phone about 3 months ago saying to call back about important credit matter, so I checked on-line and found out who they were then called. They were looking for someone else and I told them they had the wrong number. The last three days I have been getting calls on my cell phone from the same company, looking for the same lady. The numbers are (866) 577-5827 and (905) 413-8586. What upsets me is that they linked my cell phone to my home and decided to call all the time to get to someone who is not at this number. I told them yesterday that she is still not on these numbers, but the Canada number called one more time after that.

What an ignorant bunch of A-holes these people are, On my cingular wireless phone they keep calling asking for a name who I have no clue who it is, I asked them to remove my number from the data bank because whoever they are trying to reach does not have this number anymore, and they keep calling back everyday every hour like I have reason to lie or something, well anyways I'm going to report them to BBB and find out some more info to stick it to them. They're arrogant, rude and obnoxious.

A man called said that he was from Global and needed to speak with my husband. I asked what the call was regarding and he said that he needed information about someone and told me the name. I asked for more information and he said to "get my husband". I told him that the call was done and I hung up. He called a second time and wanted to know why I was so rude and this is an important business matter and went on to tell me that I was being very aggressive. I told him not to call my home again and he hung up.

This Number calls me all the time (4-5 times a day INCLUDING WEEKENDS) I got one message from this number that stated "key now." I assume it was a recording based on what previous people have posted.

I received a call from this number and I called back. The name of the company is called "Global". I asked to be put on their do not call list and he said it would take 48 hours to remove my number. They're a collection agency.

i get repeated phone calls daily from this number. stating they can not discuss the matter of this call due to federal laws. I finally called this number back from a differ number the man who answered would not tell me who he worked for. Just kept saying give me your number I will remove you. Probably mistake. Was rude, read me off the number I was calling from. And when I asked again who is he working for, what company?, he said have a nice day and hung up. Probably a scam. Its getting annoying..

Rings my home phone and my cell simultaneously

I tried to make a complaint on the Do Not Call website and it tells me that it is not recongizable. (Due to be an Ontario area code). always call at inapproparite times. I dont answer calls I dont recongize anyway due to being hearing-impaired. Nor will I call back if it is not a local call.

If they want to contact me in regards to accts, they can sent me a letter. (I dont trust the other end of the line and dont know if they really represent the company or being shady)

They called my house and actually left a message. The very rude man said "What's the matter with you! This is not a telemarketing call, press any number key now!" They have not called back since then.

Called and asked to speak with my father who I have not spoken to in over 10 years. When I pressed for information, the caller refused to give any but only tried to get information from me. Said it was a confidential matter and he could not speak to me. I gave no information and hung up.

We get a call from them daily, same message, "this is an important financial matter, press any key to continue". They call all the time and usually when I am with a customer so I have never pressed a button to be connected. I get solicition daily and it drives me up the wall!!!
I get calls for a Marcus Webb daily, who is Marcus Webb????? This is a business number!

obnoxious people keep calling every night at 5 54pm and say to pick up phone

When you answer it say "Due to the nature of this call I cannot tell you why we are calling, press 1 to speak to an agent"

All the sudden I keep receiving these calls on my cell. I get 905-413-8586, 781-008-7415,416-007-8140,and 612-009-8712 all in the last 24 hrs, multiple times. Did get the 905 number to leave a message saying 'we believe the person we are looking for can be located at this phone number, call us right away at: 1-866-577-5827. I didn't bother calling it as I don't owe anyone and I figure if I did, they would call my home number since I don't put my cell number on any credit apps so this is probably some scam or wrong # but it's already getting old, I mean late Sat night and early Sun morn......crap!

They collect on delinquent credit accounts that have been charged off by original creditors.
Although the original creditor charges the account off, the debt is stil owed, and the collection agency will continue to call to collect on behalf of the original creditor. After getting several calls I finally stayed on and got a man that asked for someone other than who lived here. Was very rude. I too have all kinds of blocks, this is a pain.

This number started calling me about a week ago on my cell.. never answered.. called back many many times.... went to a recording when I called back and never went to any person. tarted calling my house number... same thing... I would say just dont answer!

Have been calling for about a week and leaving no message. Today was home and answered - recorded message saying "due to fed. law..." press a button. Got a person who answered and said can I help you(did not identify himself or company). I said I didn't know - they had called me. Told me to hold on a minute and then hung up on me! Used to have a Capital One account years ago - no balance due and the account was closed and card destroyed 3 years ago. Is this a scam?

Collections agency, called looking for someone who used to have my cell phone number, even though I have had it for over 1 year. Wanted to know if I knew how to reach the person they were looking for, I told them to call the phone company...

The direct office number of Daniel Elmalem, President of "Global Credit and Collections" is listed as a New York number (even though it is a Canadian number calling us): (716) 626-6313. Hit *67 on your cell phone and call him. He cannot trace you. Tell all of your freinds to call him. Check out the officer bio page and find other numbers to call, preferrably at their homes! Give them a taste of their own medicine!

They called for my sister in law who has never been linked to our number. I always listen to the whole recording for a number to press to be removed from the call list. When I pressed a number I got the rude guy with a heavy accent. I informed him he is in violation of FCC regs because we are on the DNC list, I also asked what is the business of the call. He told me it was not any business of mine. I explained it is because he was calling my house, and again asked what was the nature of the call. We went round and round until I told him to never call our number again and hung up on him.

This is a collection company from Ontario, Canada. They are called Global Credit & Collection. In my case they are after the former tenant of the apartment unit which I reside in. She vacated this apartment over 15 months ago. I don't know how or why they have my telephone number considering I have no relationship or have ever met the former tenant. I explained this to them and they assured me that they would remove my number from their database and apologized for the trouble. Let's see if they can live up to their promises.

Be aware that by pressing the number that they ask,you may be allowing them to charge long distance calls under your name, be careful.

This stupid collectors forgot to blocke there name this morning and it came up like Markham, wich doesn't make them less retarded, this is been going on for 7 months already, lets see who gets tired first, we never answer,FOR WHAT!!!????

This number is driving me crazy. It calls my work every few hours. The recorded messages changes periodically. It is really starting to irritate me. They leave messages on the voice mail all night long.

We get called at least 3x a day.
They leave a message about the important business matter.
We do not have any capitol one account or cards and never have.
The only explanation I can come up with is ID theft or someone has been using our number to fill out forms.

This number keeps calling everyday about the same time. Today I decided to push anykey to talk to someone. Message said all represenatives were busy. About a minute later a guy got on the phone and said hello? I said hello and he hung up. Very wierd.

The a$$es from India called with Global Credit and Collections. The were asking for someone I do not know, and would not give me a supervisor or take me off of their list. They just kept asking for Jennifer.

This is a shady collection agency. They got our number after a friend of ours stayed at our house and got some mail here. In the past 30 days I was hospitalized with cancer treatment. When I checked my voice mail (which is easy to do and is logged with Vonage), there were over 100 calls from this number AND an 866-577-5827 number. I told the guy this was harassment and he hung up. When I called back he warned me "first of all you don't threaten me" because I told him I was reporting him to the BBB. I told him where to shove it because it isn't my account and I have a record of ALL the calls they made, clearly a violation of federal law. Beware, when I called the 866 number, the same guy answered. He probably does this out of his house.

Finally got a live human after pressing any button - lady said they were Global Credit on behalf of Citibank - asked for someone who I do not know nor have never heard of... she claimed they woudl remove our number. They called every day this weekend incl. Sunday.

I called the # back later out of curiosity, they said they were looking for my ex husband on a confidential financial matter and could not tell me what it was about. They called a phone in my name, I think they should have to tell me!

Recorded message said press any key for a call about a confidential business matter; I put it on speakerphone & held for 5 minutes then gave up when no one came to the phone.

Been getting this phone call from this # (Unionville, ON) and I pushed a number to speak to someone - after couple of second, it hung up. I called back and this rude guy answered. Told him to stop calling and he stated that I should have answered the calls from their company. Asked who they were, he stated that he was from Global....he did have an accent. They were looking for a person with a spanish name...

DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THIRD PARTY COLLECTIONS, THEIR OFFERS/DEALS DOES NOT CLEAR UP YOUR ACCT. YOU WILL JUST BE GETTING CALLS FROM ANOTHER AGENCY THAT THEY WILL SELL YOUR ACCT TO. BY THE WAY THEY ARE NOT HIRED BY CAPITAL ONE. THEY PICK UP ACCTS THAT HAVE BEEN DEEMED NON COLLECTABLE.

Had a string of similar calls in the last two days. Interesting since I don't owe on anything, I'm on the no call list, and I have a "telezapper". This one from Unionville, ON. And a string of similar calls originating from "Nebraska" "Ohio" "Pennsylvania", and "Oklahoma". Interesting that with the other calls the first number or two after the area code is always a zero.

I hit the button and someone picked up asking for someone else. They asked if it was a cell which my number is and they removed me fom the list and said they were sorry.

Something isnt right

Unknown caller. Caller ID showed Unionville, Ohio source. Hung up before phone auto answered. Never called back. Other similar calls from different numbers in IN, MN, MI, MS. All seem to originate in midwest area.
