when I answer any 800/888 call and there is no immediate answer when I pick up the phone, I hang up immediately. Scotia Bank should be under the same "no call" resitrictions as everyone else... customer or no customer. Report unwanted calls directly to Scotia Bank. I had similar problem with Sears calling 4-5 times per month ro "clean my furnace". Called them directly and told them in no uncertain terms that if these calls did not stop, I would tear up my Sears cards. They took down my information, promising never to call again. It seems to have worked!!!

Scotia Bank calls my WORK number every night between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm - EVERY NIGHT. How they obtained my work number is beyond me. I am easily at their 100th attempt. I am thankful they don't have my cell phone number. I also learned that if you 'wait' a moment when you answer unknown ID calls and you only hear dead air, then hang up. Don't bother with the "hello" to prompt the relay to their call centre. It's B.S. No patience.

Uh-huh...supposedly I was pre-approved for a credit card with a $7000 limit and no credit check. Suuuuuuuure. I have a better chance of sprouting testicles on my forehead. Or being struck by lightning during a blizzard.

Idiots called and asked if we were interesed in a Scene VISA card and that I was preapproved. "PREAPPROVED"? They did not know who I was as they wanted personal information so how can I be pre-approved? Anyway I set my caller ID to SCOTIA BANK JUNK so if they call again it will show up as such on my phone. Any call with the end "junk" on my phone means the call is basically "junk".

They call every night and don't leave a message. They work around the Do Not Call Legislation by assuming if you ever stepped into a ScotiaBank branch, you were once a customer and the rules don't apply. Boycott this bank, sell their stock, close your accounts with ScotiaBank. Default on mortgages held with them. Steal their pens, mess up their washrooms, slip on their floor and sue them. The Indian call centre is about 15 hours ahead of Canada, so we are blessed with the day shift and all their exuberance. Please Indian people, leave us Canadians alone. It's not that we hate you, we just value the quiet enjoyment of our lifestyle.

These ScotiaBank people are very annoying. They've called every night for the past week and don't leave a message. They circumvent the Canadian Do Not Call legislation by saying if you were a Scotiabank customer at any time in your life, they don't have to abide by the rules. The Indian call centre is 15 hours time difference, so I get the annoying (but highly prized) day shift calling me every day. People of Canada unite and boycott ScotiaBank. Sell their stock, close your accounts with them, default on your mortgage with them, steal their pens, mess up their washrooms, slip on their floors and sue them.

getting calls almost every day from these jerks. the first few times they wanted me to transfer my money from my other bank to theirs, said no.then they wanted me to get one of their credit cards, said no. now when they call these clowns hang up on me.

This jerk called and wouldn't leave a message with me. He was calling for the husband who was busy with the baby. He said, "it's just an appreciation call, I will call another day". WTH is an appreciation call? At least I know who it is so when I don't answer it next time it won't bother me.

I also hate when you say hello twelve times before they actually say hello back. GAH!

How do u stop these MFers from calling? I told them to remove me from their phone list and they do this only for a few months, then start again.

November 26th, 2008 rk ON Canada

Picked up but dead air on other end. Having recently signed up for a SCENE card, and being bombarded with SCENE VISA mail, I suspect it was a Scotia VISA "sell" call.

November 22nd, 2008 A ON Canada

Caller claimed to be from Scotia Bank. I explained that I was busy. He said it was a courtesy call and thanked me for signing up for a Cineplex SCENE reward card. It sounded like an attempt to upsell their SCENE ScotiaCard or SCENE Visa card.

Wife answered, Siad she was Scotia Bank and asked for me, wouldn't leave a message, or acknowledge the end of the call.

Got this call 3 times (13 July), each time no one says anything at the other end of the line.
