How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

They've been calling me for over 2wks every single darn day, sometimes even twice. Ugh!! STOP IT!!!!
Ekos have called everyday for the past week and a half. I have a panasonic phone and have a call block feature on this phone. I have added a lot of telemarketers to this feature. I just added Ekos today. My phone rings once and then they will get a busy signal! It's a fantastic feature I wish I had on my older model. As for telemarketers calling my cell, I add them to my address book under the name DO NOT ANSWER so this way I know not to answer. Of course my little tricks only work if they are not unlisted/private.
Phoned right at dinner time. To my cell phone. These inconsiderate b*st*rds should be paying their victims for cell usage.
1-888-688-0709 no name
My cell phone number is on the CRTC's "Do Not Call List ".. I demand that be respected. If not I will report your violations.. I have a pay per use cell phone, used for emergecy use only.. MY USE. I do not wish to pay for unsocilicted/unwanted calls to my cell phone. Calls made at my expense. I have never had any problem in offering my opionion in a so called Democratic society, but done on my own choise. DO NOT CALL ME.. any clearer for the RETARDS!
Seldom see so many whiny people in one place. I swear this site should be called whiny wieners.com. "Oh! Some research company called my cell twice in three days! Boo frickedy hoo!!" If you don't want them calling answer the phone and ask that they not call back. Simple as that. Most people actually appreciate being given an opportunity to participate in the Democratic process.
I am sick and tired of receiving unsolicited calls from 1-888-688-0709 on my cell phone (FIVE NIGHTS IN A ROW around 8 p.m. local time) which I DO NOT RESPOND TO. STOP THE CALLS. You're wasting your time since we use our telephone only for emergency use and to call out as we see fit.
Frank Graves PRESIDENT & FOUNDER of EKOS RESEARCH said...
"I recognize now that my stark language was understandably offensive to some Canadians.
In that light, I wish to retract my remarks and unreservedly apologize for making them.
Unfortunately, my comments have led to some misunderstanding about me and EKOS Research Associates, of which I am founder and president. "
No misunderstanding. Now if you can only apologize for annyoing many Canadians 2 times a day, every day. In additional to apologizing, perhaps you can stop these annyoing phone calls?
I suggest everyone email this request, to the President of EKOS, Mr. Frank Graves
at toronto@ekos.com
Called my cell (Canada, 416). I didn't answer and they left no message.
I just got a call from Ekos.com/parent 1888 6880709 which I did not answer as I imagined is must be some other telemarketing company.... Looking up this ID & number I came upon this web site & found this very informative. To the Anonymous person I would like to say that I realize you must work for this company or have done surveys with them & I do understand that it's your job to do this as well as I understand those answering the phone. However I really sympathize with those answering the phone.... I find it very annoying to come home from work to answer these calls every single day when all I want to do is relax not talk on the phone to random people as I already do at work..... I think there are other ways for this company & others to conduct surveys, such as sending it by regular mail or just leaving a message to those who are interested instead of doing this over the phone or even promoting this any other way. We have enough companies calling us everyday we do not need any more. In the end there will come a day when everyone is going to unlist their phone numbers... Me, I have already thought of doing this several times.... BTW, if anyone from Ekos is reading I would like to also mention that it is very unprofessional of you to remove someone from your "DO NOT CALL LIST" & then call them again 9 months later. Clearly you DO NOT understand what "DO NOT CALL" means! I think you should respect the privacy of others.

Ekos Research is a Canadian Public Opinion Research Company that conducts Social Research. Numbers are generated(in other words made from changing the last digits in order to create new numbers). Perhaps this is why certain people feel that they are contacted not only on their home phones but sometimes even on a cell phone. As for some of the previous comments mentioned bellow: Ekos OFFERS A CHANCE for respondents to win cash prizes, in other words their name will be entered into a draw for again A CHANCE to win. As for the charity dollars, they are offered to members of our research panel for completing surveys, which then they can donate to a charitable organization. The automated recording system(IVR) RANDOMLY calls GENERATED numbers to see if people would be interested in joining our research panel. We do not SOLICIT anything which is why we are not on the National Do not call list. For those individuals uninterested in our survey samples or joining our research panel can easily be removed from our calling list by SIMPLY requesting that we do so. In other words, hanging up the phone will NOT necessarily prevent this.
So when I'm filling in what the caller ID was listed as, I'm told that it's too long. It came up on my phone as "ekos.com/parenting" and it was an automated survey on behalf of the government of Canada. I just set the phone down and walked away...I like what I read about faxing them...I hope it works!!
John, you are correct, it will drive them crazy, if you type *67 in front of their fax number, they will not be able to find out who you are, it works. I have been able to shut down an entire collection agencies phone lines, and you know how aggresive they are.
If they can not respect you DO NOT CALL request, then it is fair game
DO NOT FORGET THE *67 sometimes you can put a cooma after the *67 and it will pause the phone for 15 seconds, but both ways work

This type of call should NEVER be sent to a cell phone! These guys should be hunted down and permanently put out of business/NEVER able to engage in phone/computer use ever again!

EKOS Research called three times today; twice in the mid-morning and once in the late afternoon. I had originally asked to be to removed from their calling database back in February and they left me alone until today. I'm not surprised that this was only a temporary removal.
I guess a nine month break isn't too bad, though. However, it would be nice if they stopped completely.
IT IS A SURVEY COMPAGNY THAT OFFERS A "CHANCD" TO WINN $500 IF YOU AGREE TO DO A SURVEY. I SIMPLY NAMED IT IN MY CONTACT AS "CRAP"
I just reported them to the CRTC as I've been on the no call list since MAY... uncolicitted Calls on my cell are unacceptable!!!!!!!! FROM ANYONE OR ANY $HITTY A$$ company regardless of surveys or any other $hit. I say burn their businesses down or better yet CRA should audit and CRTC should fine at 50% of the companies earnings! THAT my friends would get thier attention!
Called using automatic device on Good Friday. Wanted permission to add me to survey group.
Contact info is at:

From here you can email them and let them know what you think of them.
You can also tell them to put you on their do not call list.
Alternate avenues of communications.
According to one of their website links their email addresses seem to be first initial & last name @ekos.com.
Paul Adams Executive Director Strategic Communications is padams@ekos.com
I'm guessing but I think the Presidents (Frank Graves) is probably fgraves@ekos.cm etc.
You can figure out the others in the information for management group on their page:

I reported Ecos Research to DNC center. They are of unknown origin, trying to solicit personal information, anonymously, via the telephone... I will tell you this smells of fraud/identity theft to me... Beware. I hung up and reported them, to DNC and to phone busters.
This is the third call that I've received from EKOS Research in two days. As "Raq" mentioned in an earlier comment, they try to sign you up for recurring surveys. Unfortunately, Canada's DNC registry doesn't cover phone survey/market research calls, so these people can call with impunity.
