Report a phone call from 8883982271
How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Was called to donate to this organization. I have many Navy friends, I asked the caller about the Navy monument at Omaha Beach, they knew nothing about this. They sent me a pledge envelope and called again. It is a scam my Navy friends are very upset with this.
I made a donation last year to ACS Navy Veterans before doing my homework. ACS keeps most of the donations and the charity gets next to nothing. I feel that this is a scam. I think I ended up on a 'sucker' list because I'm getting all kinds of calls for other ACS schemes. I tell them to take my name off of the list and not to call me again, but they still call. Please avoid this company. I think that they have found a loophole in the Do-not-call list because it is for charity, because in reality they are just lining their own pockets at the expense of the chairity and those who would like to see their money going to a good cause.
Is this a legitimate organization or is it a fraud?
ACS Navy fund raising for troops overseas. Please advise.

These losers have been calling every 15 minutes for hours for the last two nights. Last night, I asked them politely totake my name of their list. Tonight I was on a business call for an hour and a half and call waiting interruptedme every 15 minutes. It was always Childrens Hope at 888-398-2271. After I finished mycall, they called again. I answered and demanded to know who they were and where they were located. They hung up. They called again in a few minutes. The man this time got extremely abusive when I said that I was going to file a complaint against them because I had told them several times to stop calling. I hung up on him. They called again several times. I went on line and filed a complaint against them with the state of Washington. I called the 888 number to hear that they were pretending to be a Navy organization. I left a message that I have filed a formal complaint against them.
Fundraiser on phone does not introduce himself or the organization he is representing, which is bad manners. Simply asks for me by name as if he is a personal friend. After reviewing requested paperwork, I decided to check this organization on the internet. They have a number of dubious comments, sounds more like a personal fundraiser. I have decided to contribute the amount to the USO, United Service Organization, which has a solid history of boosting morale for our servicemen since WWII.

ANNOYING !!! AT 9am IN THE MORNING
Lady said she was with the US Navy Veterans Administraion. I simply asked about company information, and she hung up. So they probably donate 10 percent to the soldiers, 20 percent to expenses, and the 70 perecent to profit. That is my opinion.
US Navy Veterans Association (NOT Administration!). They have called us about twice a year since we moved to northern Virginia, and they're usually asking for donations to send care packages to deployed troops. I have asked them several times to please remove us from their calling list as we don't donate to causes that solicit over the phone, give money through CFC, and if we want to send care packages to deployed troops, we know enough people in our branch of service (Army) to send them ourselves.
My number is listed on the Gov do not call list tet we keep getting these calls. I will never donate to a solicitor, I choose my charities carefully and they are local.
2nd call in 2 days.
I don't answer if I don't know who it is. They didn't leave a message.
These people have called several times a day for the past week, never leave a message.
Get a LOT of calls from this #
so far called 23 times told to stop and still call. Filing formal report with FCC
To: Stink,
You're an idiot for using that kind of language. If I could reach you right now I'd slap you upside your head. It probably has a lot to do with why you're poor and needy...
From a Marine Corp veteran.
Someone keeps calling about getting my carpet cleaned. They call so much, that I have started hanging up when I see the 888 area code and no one says anything right away........ I got a call that was soliciting donations for veterans on a Sunday - I was on the other line and did not speak with them. I think it had something to do with the military. Based on the comments, it might have been them calling back. I feel sorry for the people who have that job - plus, I feel sorry for myself, getting these calls at 8 PM and on weekends..............
This was a call "supposedly" from Bank of America... Wanting to tell me that I am a loyal customer and wanted to set me up with a new account. HA! As if I would set up a bank account over the phone.
After just receiving the latest of many of their calls, which I always let go unanswered, I searched their website navyvets.org for "Do Not Call" and added myself to their internal Do Not Call List. I sent email to DoNotCall@Navyvets.org . You may also call toll-free 1-888-665-9359, or in DC at 202-736-1725. If you connect with Voice Mail, say: "Do Not Call," your full name (spelled out slowly), and full telephone number including area code. They say, "it will be done;" I'll take them at their word.
No message left.
I have gotten several calls from these people over the past year or so, and they always promise to send proof of their bona fides and never do. Whoever is running this operation should be in jail for fraud, IMO. Taking advantage of peoples' support for the armed forces to scam money out of them borders on treason.
The only reason I know who called is I called back on the caller ID. The person just made a creepy kind of laugh. At that point I said you must have the wrong number and hung up.
If this "charity" is anything like some others like the ones who call for "Highway Patrol" they are probably getting back at me for refusing to talk to them. I do not donate money to causes that solicit over the phone. I had one caller threaten me with a "lack of police protection" if I did not donate. Laughable considering I donate to Backstoppers.
Didn't pick up
Call received from this number at 11:02 am on September 26. I did not answer but the caller yelled "Hey Donnie" and then laughed like a maniac for a while, then hung up. Not very professional to say the least.
out of area...left no message
Received a call from this number 9/7/2007. Man on the other end said he was calling for the U.S. Navy Veterans Assoc. Soliciting a donation. I declined. Caller was a bit pushy for a donation commitment.
caller does not leave message on ans. machine. calls daily. Am on do not call list. Not working?????If charity fundraising, this makes me not want to help them out.Hope you have the balls to leave message.
Sorry, that was navyvets.org
I told the caller I would look it up on the internet, she said she would wait. The site is navyvets.com it's very unprofessional, and has no actual government affiliations.
They called me saying they were from the US Navy Veterans Association or Administration. They stated they were going to send me some paperwork next week where they wanted me to donate some money for the soldiers in Iraq but they wanted me to promise and or commit to donating something right now. After telling the person that first I would need to read the information first and then I would decide if I wanted to donate any money. The person on the phone kept pushing me into trying to commit to donating money over the phone, when I would not until I looked at the paparwork he just hungup on me. How rude of him, it makes me think he was not working for the for some Veterans Association. So beware!!!
The Do Not Call list does not apply to Charity Calls. If this is a charity call, they dont have to listen to the DNC lists. They are not tring to sell you anything, just looking for help. Local police departments do it quite often. Autodialers are legal but MultiDialers are not. MultiDialers will dial multiple numbers all at one time, and the first to pic up gets the operator. AutoDialers only dial one number at a time randomly.
Answered and asked for me, but would not ID. Said they would call back when I said party asked for was not there.
What happened to my DNC list???
Left no message.
This is a scam. "United States Navy Veterans Association (USNVA) does not meet the following Standard for Charity Accountability." WHO IS JACK NIMITZ?
said my last name and then said will call back
This number called my house this morning and I let the answering machine pick it up, they left no message.
No message. Must be a computer dialer. My ID'er read 888-398-2271 OUT OF AREA.
called 3 times in a row - no msg left
unknown name; no message
Called on both lines at the same time. Id said "Toll Free Call" - that is obvious by the phone number. Just another tele-marketeer violating the do not call list - people using auto-dialers are tele-marketers regardless of who they are supposedly "calling" for. I don't want them calling me
caller id Out of area-unknown Call 8-01-2007 9:17 am
No,Micheal; This Is the United States Navy Veterans Accociation not Admonistration. They are a charity that raises money and collects goods for troups oversees in all four branches of the millitary. If you call that number back,a recorded message will tell you that no one is avialable to take your call. Besides,I am poor and needy myself so as far as I am concerened, fuck them.
this # is US Navy Veterans Administration
Caller Richard said he was calling for ACS- NAVY VETERANS
