The phone is ringing, and I don't recognize the number,
All Caller ID says is, "NAME UNAVAILABLE".
Please help me figure out who is calling and what they want

wouldnt it be nice if phone companies would make it maditory for theses types of calls to id them selves.

This number called my cell phone at 8:50pm. Message displayed on LED screen "missed call 888-366-0905".
No voice message left.
I missed the call No message left, caller ID showed 888-366-0905.
I immediately called back 888-366-0905 from my land line phone which is unlisted and unpublished.

The salutation I received was: "Verizon Wireless, how may I help you?"


I explained that someone from this number, 888-366-0905, just called me but left no message.
They asked if I had a Verizon wireless telephone (I do) they said that is probably why I was called.


Buy why? and why at 8:50 PM?

They requested my cell number (which I declined to give out) in order to "look up my account to determine why I was being called".


I told them I'd think about it. I've had Verizon wireless for years and only received a call from them when my contract was coming up for renewal (I just renewed my contract)

I think it's some sort of scam. Verizon has never called me at 9:00 PM!

Got this call 3 times now....about going over my limit on my text messages.....When I tell them I have unlimited texting they say oh ya...sorry to bother you and hang up. If it is verizon telemarketing, shouldn't they know what plan I have????? Hope these calls don't cost me my personal mins. But I bet they do.

Multiple calls, spaced perhaps three hours apart. I always check here before picking up - so ignored this one. Persistent bastids, anyway.

Got a call from this number on Christmas Eve! (Seriously.) The guy on the other end spoke mostly in slang, and was a real jerk. He wanted me to change my Verizon contract to include a pre-paid number of text messages. Okay, fair suggestion. But this guy was a real jerk, suggesting that I "finally throw in the towel, man", and "what's up with that", and other obnoxiousness. I wonder if it was really from Verizon, because I would like to assume that Verizon wouldn't have such a creep being so obnoxious, on Christmas Eve no less.

I called them back and someone picked up saying Verizon Wireless. I then asked them to remove me from their calling list which they did.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
