Called me, even though I'm on the national do not call list...

By reading some of these other posts it really sounds like it's a fraud line. I am going to see about reporting this number and maybe they can handle this problem. I've gotten three calls today, five yesterday and god knows how many times before that.

Calls multiple times a day, doesn't leave a voice mail. It's getting on my nerves!

i have received so many calls from this number in the past two days ... when I called back I got the recording "all of our customer service representatives are currently with other calls ... please hold and someone will be with you shortly" ... i was on hold for 37 minutes and still no representaive ...

Shady debt collector. A Cease and Desist letter was sent a month ago via certified mail. The next phone call from them will cause me to take legal action. They are violating my rights.

Women with thick Indian accent stating that I responded to an employment ad to work from home. They claim it's a turnkey operation, just log onto their internet site more information will be provided. Also stated that they would send me my free intro kit to my home.

I'm not sure what they're about, but I did tell them I was not interested. She promptly hung-up

called at 8:45 p.m. CST 12/20/06 -- this is about the 10th call we've gotten. It seems to have started when we registered this number with the Do Not Call Registry on 11/22/06. Not sure if that is a coincidence or not.

I've been getting calls from this number for about a month, the messages left are dead air and for about the last week and a half the calls are coming more frequently one about every 20 to 30 minutes

I answered a on-line ad. to get a E-bay package and the next day someone called me but I did't have time to talk and from then on ever day a receive phone calls but no one responses.

First call from that number today. No caller ID. 608 area code. Son answered the phone, told him to tell them I was not available. He said the woman on the line was from eBay...Sounded fishy, did a Google Search and this site came up. I will be reporting the call on the donotcall.gov site. Great site by the way.

This number calls several times a day just about every day including Sundays. I never answer, just let the recoreder pick up but they never leave a message.

These guys have been calling me for over 2 months now. Its getting really really old. I am glad I found this site and realized im not the only one. They called me just now for the 2nd time this morning and laughed and hung up. The crazy thing is they only call my cell not my house. Wierd!!!

I keep getting calls from this number and i saw someone else had trouble with the ebay people calling.i asked to be on the dnc list and they said ok. but i recieved 3 other calls the same day from them. today the 8883416575 number called and hung up. when i call back it rings twice then says its busy.

I have a theory!I just got my first calls from 888-341-6575 today(12-04-06).I have read that several people have been offered Ebay items and, one person said the only on-line registering she has done is with Ebay.I just made a purchase on Ebay Sat. night and first thing Mon. morning these calls started.Maybe a coincidence,maybe not.The member name of my last purchase on Ebay is(epittman).Check and see if you bought from same guy.I do not know if any of you sell on Ebay but,I do.When auction is over you get winning bidders address,phone number,and e-mail.This would account for some of the listings that say they knew information about them.Just a theory!

I kept this indian on the phone for like 10 minutes until he finally hung up. Said I was interested but kept changing the topic and trying to sound sexy. Must have worked. I was driving and have an unlimited plan so might as well have some fun.

Did the same thing everone did..called them on a landline it made a beeping noise than it hung up..then I called from my cell and after a minute there was still no ring, it just stayed silent. I am on the National Do Not Call list and I want to report who exactly these f****** people are. I am going to pick up next time and mess with there heads, so I can pull a name and company from them, then there ass is mine. And how is it that people from way across the other side of the world are becomein call center reps...that shit is suspect...I swear what America does to save a few dollars....

I recieve calls from them everyday about 5-6 times a day and I'm going to press charges as soon as I find out who it is. i have spoke to the phone company and they can't do much unless they know who it is. but they told me they can try to block it when they get info. I have spoke to a police friend who says its considered harrassment and they are also looking into it. i have complete phone records of every call. It goes to my voicemail but then there is no message. When I answer they hang up. As far as I've been told the police friends I have are checking it for me. And they say that I've almost got enough information to sue them and as soon as they get an address We are going to take further action. Please help to stop these anoying calls. they called my cell tonight at like 9pm. I am looking for a job but it seemed odd that a company would call me at 9pm from an 888 number. Read through the posts and it seems like it could be a few different things. I am not answering unless they keep calling me.

They have called me for the past two days; several times a day. Sometimes I answer, and they asked for my mom by her name. When I said she wasn't here and then I asked who this was, they replied, "No need to know" and then hung up!

It started after somebody other than me started using my credit card number. At first they called every hour, but now they call every half hour. I'm in college, so my phone having a vibrating fit every half hour isn't good. I asked them to stop calling, but they refuse. I usually don't answer unknown numbers, but this one has been calling me repeatedly for a few days now so I finally answered and a lady with a thick accent asked for me. I just told her she had the wrong number so hopefully that's the end of that for me.

They have not called me in over 2 months, Last time they called I basically told them off, when the woman started with her big speach about being from a grant center, I said "I am going to stop you for a minute, first of all you are not from a grant center, I looked you up on the internet, I know you are a scam! They call every day. Sounds like the same voice, heavy accent. First time they wanted to sell me an ebay kit, and I said I'm not interested. The guy yelled at me and said "really? you signed up for it!" I yelled back "I dont want it!" Same thing again, and he said "I even have your name and address!" And I yelled back that "when someone is interested in something,they might give information, but when it comes to the screen where it asks for credit card info, IF THEY CLICK OUT, THEY DONT WANT ANY! we need to inform the media that is the only way they will stop. i got a call today and looked up the number on goolge and found this site. if this many people are having a problem then obvisiously they wont stop without a little push. INFORM THE MEDIA!!

Have been getting calls on and off - sometimes up to 4 times a day. Only the number shows up. When I answer there is no reply. How can we stop them from calling us? I'm already on the donotcall list.

Caller makes multiple tries in a day. No one ever answers. Later, strange e-mail messages appear with numerous special characters.

When I answered the phone there was silents for about 30 seconds. I figured it was a computer generated call. Then a woman asked for my son by his first and last name. I said "Hello. My son is in school can I help you. She hung up with out a word. I was curious why an adult woman would be calling my thirteen year old son so dialed *69 and it was the 888 number so many people are wondering about. Ofcourse I then wondered why a 888# would be calling a thirteen year old, and hung up on his mother. I called the operater with out any success. Then I dailed *57 which traces the call for the police and charges you $3.00. This all happened on November 17 2006.

I reported this number last week. Still calling. When I answered, nobody there. I read that some companies have software that rings your number only to see if you answer. That tells them you are home and it would be a good time for a telemarketer to call you and get you while you are in. When this happens, hit the pound sign (#) about 8 times in a row. This supposedly confuses the program and makes it think they just dialed an invalid number and they delete it from their list of contacts.
I don't know if this really works, but I'm doing it anyway.

This is really annoying. this phone number comes up almost every night around 8.30. it is too late for hang up or telemarketer calls. it is frustrating cos i've tried to call them back to stop calling but a machine comes on saying all circuits are busy. please stop them calling please.

Can't talk to them and I can't call them! It just hangs up as soon as the connection is made!

Calls come in on my cell approximately 2 - 3 times/day. No one EVER answers when I pick up and say hello. Waste of time. When I call the number from a land line, I get a "We're sorry, your call did not go through. Please try your call again later." This gets real old, real quick. My phone is on a "Do Not Call" list, yet I can't get anyone on the line to complain to anyone. GRRRRRRR!

I trace this back to The Collge Board's SAT test student questionaire that asks if you want info about scholarships and colleges. The College Board must be selling the numbers to anyone.

I have had two call today. One was at 8:17 EST and the other at 3:08 EST. The first call said unknown name the second 800 service. I cannot find info on this number without someone wanting money. Today is 10-20-06. I have been receiving calls from this number several times a week over the last couple of weeks...also over the past couple of weeks I've had someone harrassing me to pay them money claiming I owe on an old debt... a "collection agency" with a record of scams... coincidence... maybe but I have already contacted a lawyer concerning this because that corrupt agency has info on me that has made me question my security...

I get calls on my comcast digital voice phone...at least 4-6 times a day...and night 11:54 pm!!!!!! Received call on reg phone number this week. Phone just gives the number and says toll free servi in all caps. area code 53913 10/13/2006 I answered and a man asked for me by my full name. My response was to ask who's calling. He dropped or fumbuled the receiver or phone and than hung up. I tried called the number back and an operator came on and said I must off dialed 0. I had explained the call and she could not help.

Call constantly throughout the day. I finally answered, the man asked for me by name and said I had signed up for an Ebay tutorial packet and they were going to go ahead and send it to me. I said I wasn't interested, the guy BLEW into the phone to make it sound like static, then repeated that they were sending me this dvd thing then hung up on me.

I have been receiving calls from this number every other day for three weeks now. I never answered the call. I called the number back today to hear the looping of this message:"...ing.

This number has called 14 times and when the answer machine pick up the hang up. I answered 1 time and a lady with a heavy accent asked for me and I hung up. I do not know this company and this started this morning, I really hope they stop.

I got one call from 1 999 999 9999, many more from 1 888 341 6575. This is a day after I went to a website for a free ebay kit (pay shipping and handling). As soon as they asked me for credit card information I exited the site so I never actually signed up. I have Cingular. Area code 281. I will be reporting this to local law, FBI, FCC, PUC, and whoever else I have to.

These people have been calling me for months. They are not a loan consolidation place, nor are they from ebay, nor are they sending out grants, it is a freakin' scam!!! They call everyday from noon to 5:00pm and ask for my wife and then hang up when I say "can I take a message"....If this is National Grant Center I get 5 to 6 emails everyday from these people plus the phone calls.....today I *69 them and called them ,only to get a answering machine that you couldn't leave any message on....

The caller called again at 9:15 A.M. and actually spoke this time when I answered. The caller was struggling with American English and was trying to sell "Free" information on how to become an eBay PowerSeller. Just pay shipping and handling. Well, you can't beat that, so I hung up on him!!!

At exactly 8:30 A.M. I was awakened by my cellphone ringing. The caller ID did not show a name but showed the number 1 (888) 341 6575. I answered "Hello?" and nothing was said. I said "Hello?" again, still nothing. I hung up and got up to find out if it may be important. I went to Google and typed the number in, the results led me to this website. I now see, after reading other's comments, that the company needs a lawsuit to lock those ass clowns up.

Listen dipshits, they are calling from a FAKE CALLER ID, so no matter what number you see on the aller id screen, it's not their number. The only way to get who they are is to social engineer them !
Agree with whatever they are saying, give them false info, and just before you give out a fake SS #, tell the, you have another call coming in, what number can I call you back on? if they are as stupid as we think, they will give out a number to them, but I doubt they will give you a real number.

I work for a telecom company so I did what is call a LPN query, it tells you the origination of the number, service provider and customer, all public info in the industry...something whocalled.us should use.This is a call center which handles calling for several different services and companies. They may have personal info when they call you, they may not - it depends on who they are calling for. If they are persistent, perhaps it is collections. Alot of the numbers on this site originate from call centers, which is why none of you can figure out why they are calling...they are calling you all for different reasons! good luck.

Same thing here! For 2 weeks I am receiving calls 3 and 4 times a night, always between 7:30pm and 9:30pm. No one speaks.
I called my telephone co for assistance. They cannot do anything. I have also been registered with the "do not call registry" for the last couple of years. But the calls still come through.

They call themselves National Grant Services, National Grant Center and a few other similar names but they are NOT the real National Grant Center, which is in California. The REAL National Grant Center in California does not do any outbound calling. So if someone ever calls YOU about grants you will know that it is bogus. The fakers calling from India are pretending to be the other company.

After receiving several calls from this unk caller, I finally answered today. They were supposedly trying to verify name, address, phone no., email address in ref to ebay. When I answered the first call on 9/8, an Indian-sounding woman claiming her name was "Christine" informed me that she was with the National Grand Center (or something similar). There was an obvious delay, which led me to suspect she was calling from India or somewhere else overseas. She addressed me by my name and asked if I had student loans. I said yes and she asked if I consolidated. I again said yes. She proceeded to give a sales pitch about "how they can further help", at which point I said "thanks, not interested" and hung up the phone. I received two other calls from the same number later in the evening, but but went dead after I answered the phone. I tried calling the number back, but it wouldn't ring.

I've been recieving calls from 888 341-6575. Of course, I don't know who is calling, but the annoying thing is the answering machine picks up, and there is no one there, then I hear " Err,Err,Err,Err,Err,Err,Err, etc.... On my answering machine. How annoying!!!!

I filed a complaint with the FCC (fcc.gov) and made a note of this site in my complaint as a reference that others are receiving calls from this number and each call is different from the next. Also, I mentioned that they are calling at specific intervals of time. My caller inquired about my loan consolidation status -I have no loans.

Once again another call at 4:45 pm just don't pick up anymore it's getting so old

They called 4-5 times today just about ever hour since 8:30am. No one there when I answer, no messages when I don't answer, and no answer when I called them back right after they called or even later.

I responded to something online and gave my number to talk to someone. The first time someone called I listened to their program and made the decision that I was not interested and told the man so. I received a call on my cell phone from this number. It was an Indian Women stating she was following up on information I request on line about losing weight. I told her I never signed up for anything. She got very angry and said so you are saying someone else is putting your information out there. I told her I was very upset that this is my cell phone and I don't appreciate solicitors calling my cell. She said then you must be saying someone else is out there puting your information and saying you are fat. Then she hung up.

I called my phone company and they told me they couln't do anything about it they can only supply information to the police. They have called almost everyday. When I answer, there is no one there and then the call is ended. I try to call back but my phone will not dial through to the number, it alwaysa tells me network busy when I try to call this number. Crazy huh. Any suggestions?

They must of called me 10 times today it's getting really annoying is there anything we can do to stop it?

Got 11 calls from 8883416575.Got several calls " caller unk" back to back interspersed.Answered,just got repeated hang-ups.Called all the way up to 9pm!

They called back again just as I was posting. I waited on the line for a few seconds. A woman with an accent, sounded Indian, told us that my wife had signed up for an eBay business. I told them that my wife had really bad diarhea and was crapping everwhere and it was really bad. I didn't hang up, then my wife answered the phone and prettended like she had a speech impediment. They hung up.

They've been calling me in the (801) area code now for about two weeks. They call in the evenings. Nothing but silence. They'll call 2 or 3 times a night. Very annoying.

This number has called my cellphone every day at least twice a day during the month of August. There's three versions of the calls: A man with a non english accent. A woman that sounds to be young. Late teens to 20s, likely. And then nobody on the line, except a lot of noise. They leave constant messages on my voicemail, all of them completely clueless about how voicemail works. Nothing but a bunch of hellos, most times. Once the man said "Hello, is this Morgan? Morgan? Morgan.... Freeman? Morgan Freeman, is that you?" While flattering, I can in no way be mistaken for an actor of his caliber, even if I were that old and colorAND had the same surname. I'm not sure what kind of scam is trying to be pulled here, but it's annoying, and it wastes my money.

I got a couple phone call from this phone number today. One of which I picked up to only be hung up on. Yesterday, I gave my info in order to mail away for a "Free" packet on "how to start up your business on e-bay" type of thing. Scam of course, you had to pay for shipping.
Anyone have a similar experience?
Also, I called Dept. of Homeland Security to report the number. Whether or not they can (or will) do something, I expressed concern.

Folks since when they started publishing cell numbers you will get a lot of calls. I have had my cell number 10 years very few people know it and now at least 4 to 5 calls a week of unknown orgin. Not saying its good but its going to happen. If the NO Call list works do that. But I have it on my home phone and NOW Polictians call for my vote and you tell the precinct worker your on a no call list and they say their exempt. So good Luck.,....

Fraud or harassment calls need to be reported to your local law enforcement agency immediately, not the phone company. All phone companies will have you contact law enforcement first. They don't act unless an official investigation is conducted.

Law enforcement needs details about the calls you received so they can investigate further.

You should contact the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov and file a complaint online about this phone# and give them details about the calls you received.

3rd

You should contact your FBI Regional Office (look in the phone book or FBI.gov) and request an investigation into these calls.

4th

Place your phone #'s on the DO NOT CALL lists at DONOTCALL.GOV (you can also file a complaint here) or call 1-888-382-1222.

The phone carriers only pass the traffic. Law enforcement needs to investigate and your calls may help other victims, who may have actually suffered losses as a result of these calls.

I keep getting these calls too...sometimes one right after the other and I get only silence. I tried the below process per Rich's note on 8-23 but it's very confusing:
The company that issued 888-341-6575 is called TCAST out of Valencia CA. Their number is 800-759-8227. I called to report this fraud activity and they noted it and suggested I call the PUC (Public Utilities Commission) since they stated that they are unable to cancel the customer who owns 888-341-6575 without notice from the PUC. PUC will do nothing without multiple complaints. When asked why TCAST can not take more aggressive action -- especially since when 888-341-6575 is called it is always busy -- they had no anser. I suggest you call the PUC at 800-649-7570 and report this number and also call TCAST and complain.

Received a call this eve while putting the baby to sleep, woke the baby, but to my chagrin no one answered my many hellos. Tried to call back, but call would not go through.

I got this call today, 12:47pm (Maine), the man had a strong accent, (iraqi?), he said "i will kill your family, i will come now and blow up your house" then he hung up.

I just got a call from 1-888-341-6575. I'm in Philly. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. So, I searched the number online to find out they call a lot of people. They called and just hung up for probably about a week. I started hanging up back! Eventually I decided to answer it and they were calling on behalf of Investment Advisor a magazine that I subscribe to for free and they simply wanted to know if I wanted to continue my free subscription. It is very similar to Joey's experience below.

Calls come in 5 and 6 time a day 7 days a week. Only break is they only call 3 times on Sundays.

I just received a call from the same number 888-341-6575. Very Arrogant women with a thick accent trying to tell me about government grants. When I stopped her and told her I wasn't interested she got on my case about asking for info online and wasting people's time. Then she proceeded to argue with me for 10 minutes when I told her I never asked for any info and someone somewhere must be sharing info over the internet she said "who the hell would do that?" When I told her that there are plenty of sites that share info without permission she lectured me about being careful online so I asked to speak to her supervisor. She then told me the call was being monitored and I would have to answer to the government for wasting their time. WHen I told her I was sorry that she was a frustrated telemarketer getting no where she hung up on me. I don't think Ebay is connected since I use my full name and not Kathie on there.

It seems to me that E-bay is the common denominator. I know I use it. If you purchased something through E-bay please list the sellers ID's. Perhaps we can find out more.

The most recent undeleted calls came on July 20 7:22pm then again at 8:18,8:29,8:37,8:49 and again July 21 at 11:36am. Will not leave message if unanswered. If my daughter answers she askes for someone my daughter can't pronounce. After my daughter told her twice that she has the wrong number she still called. I returned the call two different times asking why they keep calling my number and a women with an accent plays like she can't understand what I'm saying. It seems to me that if we keep a log of these phone calls and if we get together we could contact the phone company or district attorneys office. This is a form of harassment and from what I read in comments, possible scamming for social security numbers. These people could be sued, fined or put in jail if we get or acts together.I'm going to record her voice if/when she calls back and I suggest all of you to do the same. I'm going to do some more research.

This # has called me numerous times. The times and dates that I did manage to write down are 8/2 at 12:40 PM and 8/4 at 8:37AM. The name comes up as unknown number and there is never anybody there.

Grant Search calls me every other day. i have asked them repeatedly not to call and be sure i am on there do not call list. they continue to call and then they hang up the phone on me when i mention that i asked to be put on the do not call list or when i ask to make sure they have noted their computer with me not wanting their calls they slam the phone down on me.

Regarding the people recieving the calls from 888-341-6575, I have a solution. Everyone should call the FCC and have them put the FBI and Dept of Homeland Security on the trail of this culprit. It is definitely some kind of scam, with as many of us who are recieving these calls. Possibly someone has found a way to breach our info via phone service lines. WE ARE ON "ELEVATED SECURITY ALERT" FYI. Contact those agencies so that we all can get some resolution...Thanks!

They called saying I wanted to set up an ebay business with them I politely told them to send their info via postal mail and I would thoroughly look it over this made them outraged too bad I also told them I do not do any business over the phone involving my perosnal info and hung up!

Some one for making money on ebay. She the caller wasnt fluent in ENGLISH and was rude and told me I shouldnt have shown intrest in their company and rudly hung up on me after I told them to take my name off their list.

I talked with some lady today and she said she was from the "Solastic Student Loan Consolidating Firm". She said they got my number from the Credit Bureau. I asked her for a number in which I can call her and she gave me 1-800-507-1250 (which she says is in New Jersey). I hung up on her and she calls back from a different number (646)405-0233. Anyone that finds anything else out, PLEASE POST HERE. Thanks.

THIS IS A SCAM ARTIST with a non-american accent! This number called me to tell me about "consolidating my student loans". Asked me for my email address, local address, then tried to ask me for my social security number (which I did not give)! BE VERY CAREFUL!

Called me to day annoying dont talk and when you call back just says all circuits are busy

They called me at work. I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number. They left a few second voicemail with nothing but background noise. Bastards!

Much like everyone else, all of a sudden, this number started popping up on my cell phone. They never leave messages and when I try calling back it says no answer. Haven't had a chance to actually answer the call yet though.

came through as "not provided". No msg left. has appened before. when call back, just get msg to pls try again later

Calling me the past few days, starting at about 845am. SEVERAL times a day on my cell phone.

I get calls from this number regularly. Never anyone there. Caller ID shows "unavailable".

for the last todays, I got calls from this number, but they have not left any messages. Today they called At 9:01, I have no idea who they are or what they want.

I too am getting these phone calls - daily- to my cell phone. Only my family has my cell phone number. How can this number be tracked.They do not answer and calls to the number via land line = busy signal. There should be a law about this

Did not reconize the #, did not answer, no message was left. This is not the first time this # has been on my phone.

A woman asked to speak with "the person in the household resposible for the Con Ed (utility) bill"

I told her that I don't use Con Ed, and she hung up.

Called today and yesterday but same as most of you no answer on the other end. Sounds fishy to me. Came up as "Unknown"...whatever.

Not near cell phone when call originated. Shown as call received from toll free number. Tried redialing but call did not go through.

I answered in spanish as I recognized the number as I was getting a lot of hangup calls from it. I wanted to see if there was a different reaction. There was hesitation at the other end and a woman came on speaking in english but with a foreighn accent saying she was from a utility company looking for me. I didn't get any other details as I was in a meeting and couldn't really talk. smelled of scam / fishing expedition.

2 days in a row now and no one anwsers. I whisteled really loud and they hung-up time to call the atorney generals office to report a scam.

Called 2 times today, first there was lots of street noise, then a song came on - as in "musak". Then hung up and then called again and played musak again. Very annoying. I'm assuming this is a total fraud attempt.

Called me 6 times back to back for the past 3 days!!!

Second call in 2 days. Answer and there is silence on the other end when I say hello; then hangs up

They call once a day for the past five days or so. Caller ID says Unknown Name. I do not answer.

This is starting to tick me off!! Never says anything and I can't call back. Show yourself, you coward!!!

This number has called up to 10 times in one day!! They are annoying. Sometimes they will call one right after another.

I keep getting this damn call too...I am in law school, and yes i have student loans...I worked selling phone lines in the past, so i let them do their little sell thing...but this is ridiculous, 8 times a day...if anyone finds out who this is...let me know on this forum...

I've received 8 calls today from them in regards to my "student loans". WHich, like other commenters here, I don't have. Irritating.

This number called me as a loan consolidation firm. they knew me by my first name but as soon as they asked for social security numbers, I said no way and they immediately hung up. CONSIDER THIS NUMBER FRAUD.

Has called three times today, roughly every thirty minutues since 1:15. Says nothing when you answer.

Called stating they needed into for my student loans - which I don't have...
