Who Called Us

Even though the original caller didn't post a name, at least lots of people helped to figure out who they were. So I guess it was useful.

How on earth could anyone know who called if you put it in the data base? LOL. If you don't have it, you shouldn't post it.

This is Discover Card calling card holders to sell them additional services. They never leave a message. I called their number and was connected to there Arizona Call Center. An account rep named Matt wanted my account info before putting my number on their do not call list. I refused and told him that he has the name and phone number and to make sure it is removed or I would report them. We will see!

They have been calling a lot. Never leaves a message. Called them back, was Discover card offering blah,blah,blah,blah,**#*!%* blah.

Been calling repeatedly, finally answered, and said my name and asked if this was me. although i shouldn't have I answered yes and they hung up. I have discover, so hopefully that's who it was. Gov't opt out list doesn't count if you are a customer of the company.

Called tonite for the first time, asked for my husband, when I asked who was calling she said she would call back when he was available. I never said he wasn't available I just asked who it was. Weirdos.

If you are signed up with the "National Do Not Call Registry" just report these unwanted calls to them. This is simple to do by phone or by e-mail, and I think the violaters are subject to fines, especially if a number of people complain. I reported several today.

They called yesterday, I didn't answer since it was an 800#. They left no msg.

888-322-2785 (TOLL FREE CALL) calls about twice a day. I never pick up for anything on the caller ID that reads solely "Unknown Number" "Private Number" and lists no number or "Toll Free Call" They've been calling for about a month. Consensus seems its Discover card. Question, does everyone here, have Discover card? Because I don't and from what I'm reading, it seems they are targeting existing members in order to push some additional package. If that's the case, I wonder how I got lumped in?

I just received a call from this number and a man asked for my husband. When I told him that my husband was unavailable, he said "ok, thank you". I asked who was calling and he said "John Preger" and he hung up. I called back the number and got a recording that said "this is Discover Card. We recently tried to contact you in regard to a service we are offering. If you would like to speak to an account manager, please stay on the line. Otherwise, please continue to use and enjoy your Discover card, good-bye".

I just called Discover about this number. gave them the 888-322-2785 said they called up to 5 times day and as late as 9:30 pm that they don't say anything and then they hang up. when they do talk they want you to buy fraud protection. and that we can not understand them sounds like they are from another country. so people are hanging up because they are afraid that it is a scam. that someone just wants the credit card number and that alot of people are very upset over this harassment. told her to take my name and number off there list. she said she would and she was forwarding everything I told her to Discover headquarters. I hope this will get them off everyones back

This is Discover trying to sell something. I learned that from this site. I have a Discover card, so I logged onto their cardholders site, found a customer service e-mail address, and wrote them to tell them to stop calling me. In less than three hours, I received a reply saying my phone number would be removed from their marketing lists.

I would like to find out how to block calls from specific numbers.

this number called at 8:50 pm on the 17th of August we will not answer a number that we don't know who it's from if they don't want to tell us who they are we don't want to speak to them.

A tremendous amount of calls from this number. They will not leave a message and I refuse to answer unless identity is provided on caller ID.

This number is from DISCOVER CARD. If you have a DISCOVER CARD, they are trying to sell you that overpriced "insurance" aka "fraud protection". DO NOT BUY! You can do better by putting the month cost into a bank account. Your liability on your card is already ZERO DOLLARS, so why would you buy more coverage? SCAM-A-RONI.

I am being tormented by these calls...they say nothing when they call. I do not have a Discover card and because of this annoyance, I never will.

the woman on the other end said to her that there has been a lot of theft in this area and she said she was calling on behalf of DISCOVER card, when my wife told her she is not interested in what ever s you are selling, just before the hang up she said in a nasty tone, some people are dumb,i was hoping she would call again so i could sail into her.

I called this number today after repeated calls to my phone number and it IS Discover Card wanting to tell me about all of their features. The receptionist was very nice and asked if I wanted to be taken off of the call list and of course I said yes! I called at 8:30am CST. Maybe they are more friendly in the mornings!!

They called again about 5-10 minutes after the first but I didn't answer.

I'm so glad I didn't answer this call! Is there no way to make them stop?

they call all the time and never leave messages, so i called the number - it's a discover card "special offer." (i am a cardholder.) i called them back and was directed to a customer representative in Arizona. i asked her to have my name removed from the calling list - and she said she'd take care of it, although i may still receive a few calls before my name is removed. we'll see what happens...

I've been receiving 888-322-2785 multiple times a day for over a month. No message is left. Sometimes there is a blank space on tape. I never answer.

This number calls virtually every day, sometimes two or three times. It rings once or twice and hangs up. If answered there is dead silence and then disconnect.

Caller ID says '1-888-322-2785 800 Service'. If we do answer no one is there. Sometimes someone will be on the other end asking for someone I never heard of. Been getting these calls for 3 months.

They didn't leave a message. When I called back, I got a recording saying that it was Discover Card, calling with an offer.

This number has been calling for days. We usually just let it ring and they never leave a message. Today, my wife answered. Someone with a heavy foreign accent asked for me and she said, "he's not available." They said they'd call back. She said, "wait, who's calling." They said, "Discover." Very suspicious since DiscoverCard usually identifies themselves first when they call - you don't have to ask.

Rang four times. I didn't answer. Gave number but name not provided.

I get these calls too - and I block the number - dial *60 on your phone to do the same. No more calls!!

Just call the number on the back of the Discover Card (which is the Delaware main office), go through the menu and wait to speak to a customer representative. Ask them to take off all phone and mail solicitations. It will take up to 30 days for all solicitations to stop.

Called while we were out - # showed on caller ID with "Not Provided" as the caller.

Out of the last 25 calls to my house this number called 5 times. That is from June 26 to June 30. Never leaves a message. I have a do not call #/

They called and I let my four-year-old daughter talk to them. She was a bit shy at first, so I told her it was her grandma and grandpa. That made her happy, but when they didn't say anything, she handed me the phone and went back to reading War & Peace.

We recently moved and we started receiving calls from TOLL FREE 888-322-2785 as soon we had our phone service turned on. We have been in our home for 5 months and we get at least 2 calls a day!!!

They are trying to sign you up for any of their products...payment protection plan.

Receive calls from this number often, called back and it is Discover Card.

Well, we got 4 calls on a Saturday morning, which has finally prompted me to do something and have been getting calls for a month or so.

We called customer service at discover as others have suggested and asked them to add us to their "do not call" list. They seemed to acknowledge it could be them calling and they put us on the list. We'll see if the calls stop and I will repost to let you know.

Automated calling equip calls a bunch of numbers at once and when one answers it hangs up on the other numbers. Keeps the person calling from having idle time.

I spoke with Discover and the representative took me off of the list of automated calling, and put me on this list. I get one a day. The thing to remember is that Citigroup is behind this, they are a horrible, aggressive organization that has changed the face of the credit card business..for the worse.

Picked up phone & woman id'd self as from Discover Card. I said immediately I didn't want anything and to please remove us from their call list. I put phone back on handset. After few seconds, I picked up phone to make a call and she was still talking!!!!!

If this is Discover Cards "Fraud Protection" plan, then is truly is a fraud, for what you get!
Most of the services offered on the site are typically free anyway. For example, one free credit check report. Well, we are all entitled to one free credit report, per year.
I have had more trouble with this so called, "Fraud Protection" plan. Somehow, it was automatically charged to my discover account and it has been an ordeal, trying to get them to take it off. The service guy was extremely rude. And the last few times I have called, the recorder directs you to several different area...anyway after someone finally did pick up...they hung up instantly...more than once!
Attorney's are the next step. I don't have time for the games!
Perhaps there maybe a Class Action Lawsuit brewing...!

It is DISCOVER, the credit card company, calling to tell you about their latest credit card gimmick, like Fraud Protection.

These people always call for my mother when she's at work! When I tell them she's at work, they either ask what would be a better time to call or hang up on me! Despite the fact that they ask what a better time would be to call-- they never call when she's home! It's starting to become harassment and if I can find out what the company is, I will definitely report them to the government (donotcall.gov).

If i reported all the calls I got from this number that box above would double in size! I was receiving these calls 2,3, 4 times a day, I work nights and I sleep days, so they wake me up more often than I can say. I often ignored them, or answered, yelled and then tried to go back to sleep, aggravated, and annoyed. I finally called the number back and asked to be taken off the registry. They did say it was an offer of card security as some of you have said. They seemed to get more persistent when there was national attention of a recent scam. They, well this one peoson that answered said he was very sorry I had been bothered and that he had placed the request for my name to be taken off the call registry. So far so good. I looked up the number again when a friend was saying she was receiving the calls too and found this site. I encourage you to, with that last string of patience you might have saved, call and ask to be removed from the registry. It seems to have worked for me and it was a little rewarding to ahve someone say "I'm sorry", even if it only in their script to do so. Hope you all are less harassed soon!!! I'm going to get some rest!

Received this call 5 times just this day. Im going to totally tool next time they call I am so glad that I found this site because it has made it so I will answer the phone. We have ignored it for ages and now I will not put up with it. Thank you everyone.

It's Discover Card trying to sell you their Card protection Service so you can skip a payment if you have issues.

I have been getting these calls for about 3 weeks now. The number appears on my caller ID so I haven't been answering it.I just answered it and it was a teller marketer, so I hung up. When I called back it said it was Discover card and they had just called me about an offer. The funny thing is I'm on the National Do Not Call Registry. So I'm sure they could be liable for a hegty fine, however it's not worth my time.

Been getting these calls with no message on the machine. I do not trust them and think it is some exploitation of present privacy laws so I do not answer them. In the past similar answered calls have yeilded Discover Card marketing. It is sad that some of the laws designed to protect us often become the tools of the people we seek protection from. Shame on our legislature.

Called Discover's customer service # just now. They said that this is one of theirs and they're "marketing", trying to sell something. She looked up my # and said it didn't show up in their system at all, which is curious since I have an account with them. Anyway, she said she added my name/# to their "do not call" register (why the gov.'t one is insufficient remains a burning question...). I'll wait and see if the calls stop.

I had this call and checked it out and I believe it is discovery, I called the number on my statement and ask them about the 2785 number and they said it was their security department, I think they are trying to sell idenity theft insurance....I think when I get my discovery card paid off I am going to close it. They are on the edge of being very dishonest.

It shows as "Toll Free Call" they are calling at least once per day sometimes early in the morning sometimes as late as 9:30 at night.

Called 10:38 am on 4 Oct. 2006. We have had several calls from this number. Our Caller ID showed nothing and since I never answer an unknown caller, I thought I would google the number and found you.

I have an existing relationship with Discover Card, thus they are allowed to bug me. The salesman wanted to provide me with $12/month identity theft protection which checks credit report daily for signs of identity theft because people affected pay upwards of $700 to fix things once identity theft occurs.
I said no and goodbye. Telemarketer's parting words were "call 1800 discover for more information, keep using your Discover card for cash back bonuses".

I called the number. It's Discover Card. They have a number of call centers. They were trying to sell me some added service. I don't think it's a scam. I think it's legitimate although I never purchase any services from them, I do have a Discover Card.

Fake(?) Telemarketing group trying to get credit card information. Anyone reading this be very careful never to give any information to someone that calls you not even your name.

Discover Card that transfers your call out West, Utah. I have told them these are harassing calls and to stop. Have reported the number and company to the FTC, online. File complaints and maybe they will get the message. What idiots.

On August 30, Discover called me ELEVEN times in less than twelve hours; this behavior is not marketing, but outright harassment! It's gotten so bad that I turned off the ringers on my phones and am strongly considering getting rid of my Discover Card...

I tried calling and got discover in Utah recording too and when the operator said his name was anthony with an Indian accent I hung up. Utah...I bet. anyone forward this too the FTC yet?

Answers as DiscoverCard based in Utah. I asked to have my number taken off their list and ofcourse they wanted personal information from me, I hung up. You should have to give blood to get your name off of a solictors list.

We get these almost every other day. Always unavailable on the caller ID, then when the answering machine picks up, we get a variety of stuff... sometimes minutes of dead air (filling empty messages), sometimes what sounds like a telemarketing message. Worst of all: when my answering machine hangs up on it, it CALLS RIGHT BACK to continue (it refuses to disengage the call when hung up on)
