Report a phone call from 8882000381
How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

CROSSTAB INFO:
This number, (888) 200-0381, is listed on the "identity of this caller is" page for the American Cancer Society. As I cross-post the below info, it seems the number is used for a given time period, and then is either rotated out of use, or assigned elsewhere (?).
~ ~ Call 1-866-435-7227 which is a phone bank to receive donations for American Cancer Society's Notes to Neighbors campaign.
~ ~ The "specialist" who answers can remove your number from their MASTER PHONE LIST so you will not receive calls from any of their automatically dialed numbers. Note: you will have to provide your number; it is not available to the specialist when you call. This can take up to 30 days, although ACS tries to have it done within 2 business days. Call now: they don't give up!
~ ~ You can also ask to be removed from their MAILING LIST. This may take up to 3 months.
~ ~ Similar info at both 1-800-245-2577 and 1-800-520-7134. Hopefully this message will be a Copy & Paste when the comments trigger a new web page, or when a new American Cancer Society number crops up.

I no longer answer it Caller ID = "800 Service"
Since the caller always hangs up, I suspect some kind of scam. I've been getting the same kind of hang up calls from 1-877-824-2288 which is Comcast Customer Service. They have no particular reason for calling me.
I know that email addresses can be spoofed. Is it possible that phone numbers can as well?
Thanks Charlie! I called the number you gave, got Tina from the Notes and Neighbors program. VERY polite and helpful. Reverified my number for removal and said it could take up to 30 days to remove number, but they strive to do it within 48 hours. Anyone who doesn't want to receive calls anymore, CALL THE NUMBER 866-435-7227!!!
To those that keep complaining about this number and the do not call list. Please wake up! American Cancer Society is exempt from the do not call list because it is a charity. You may not like the ACS, but that is your choice. If you do not want them to call you anymore, call them at 1-866-435-7227 (number has been listed here many times) and ask them to remove you from their list. The last time I was called by this number, I call right back and was informed that the call was not for money but for volunteers in the area. I said I understand but would like to be removed from their list. The very pleasant lady on the phone said that she was sorry and would have my number removed. It does for some reason take up to 30 days to be removed from call lists. That part I never understand. This has worked for me with other organizations and companies. Try it instead of complaining about it.
I've been getting these calls for months. I would not donate 1 penny to the ACS. 1 penny is about all the ACS puts into actual research for cancer cures. The rest of the donations are for their VERY HIGHLY PAID executives, and their lobbying interests in Washington DC. The ACS can KISS MY A$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I now have 37 calls from the American Cancer Society! Funny thing I have never even talked to them when they call, its always an automatic dialer and they hang up
I have ben called as early as 8:15 Am. I thought these people werent allowed to call before 9 am?
I have called the alternate number 3 times to get my number takne off the list, still the calls continue. When I called I asked what makes the Cancer Society think that harassing the crap out of me will make me want to volunteer or give them any money, I have donated to various Cancer Society functions, my cousin does a walk, and we also have a busines that would donate raffle items for silent auctions, these items are for weekend stays at Hotels with a value of $250-500. There are several other cancer society functions I have donated to as well. Now when they ask me I will explain why I will not be donating anymore. Thier "notes to neighbors"
campaign has not helped them at all. I am outraged.
Lets keeop up the pressure by calling the alternate number 1-866-435-7227 and complaining, this last lady said she was going to take it to her supervisor so there may be hope out there. I am going to check out their web site for the headquarters and work my way up the food chain there. This is nuts!
Constant harassment from this number even after filing a complaint with the FCC and the National Do Not Call Registry!
I called back and a recorded message indicated that I needed to call 1-866-435-7227. I finally got to speak to a representative to ask that my work number be removed from their calling list. She also told me it that even though they strive to get it removed immediately it may take up to 30 days! THIS IS LUDICROUS!! In this day and age with the technology in place, it should be immediate and should not take more than 24 hours. There is absolutely no reason this cannot be done. I told her that each and every call is being logged and will continue to be logged until the American Cancer Society stops calling. JW / Houston, TX
And the saga continues. Again, this number showed up on my work phone. I went to answer it and the phone quite ringing in the middle of the second ring. Caller did not leave a voice mail. One of these days, I will catch'em. JW/Houston, TX
The stress from a constantly ringing phone needs to be researched as a cause of cancer.
I have told these people repeatedly to take us off their list and to stop calling but they continue to call Monday-Sunday, several times a day! I am very tired of it and am going to file another complaint with the FCC.
Once again, this number showed up on my work phone. I went to answer it and the phone quite ringing in the middle of the second ring. Caller did not leave a voice mail. One of these days, I will catch'em. JW/Houston, TX
My phone number is listed on the National Do Not Call list and this number calls every day 2-3 times per day!!
This number showed up on my work phone. I went to answer and it quit ringing. Did not know who is calling. No message left. JW/Houston, TX
I did as Marty stated. Called the #, Pressed 1, & entered my phone # to be removed. Let's see if it happens.
No message left, they have called to often.
When I call this number, 888-200-0381, I get a message with a man's voice that says, "Hi, 480-888-2000. Leave a message." So I did. I left several. The first telling these f-ing idiots to f-ing take my number off of their list. The second time, I let dead air play. The third time I let them listen to some porn from the Internet. I am SO SICK AND TIRED of these people calling me. I am on the verge of getting rid of my land line altogether.
Tired of them calling year after year after I have helped out enough! They won't take NO for an answer! They call even after promises to remove you from call list!
This is the american cancer society. I took Marty's advice and called them number back at (888-200-0381), pressed the number 1 and then entered the number I wanted removed. They said it may take 30 days to remove my number. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Phone Rings and when answered has automatic hang-up.
If this is the American Cancer Society, then it is a very low form of using automatic dialers without having adequate solicitors to interrupt your day properly. They will call back now they know you have a valid phone number.
I called 866-435-7227, as suggested by others. This is definitely the American Cancer Society. We give generously each year and I said that we will cease donating if we continue to receive unsolicited (and unidentified) calls. The excuse given that this was an automatic dialer was a further insult and I indicated such. The agent agreed with this and very politely handled my request to remove my number from their list, with apologies. She indicated that this would be accomplished within 48 hours.

This call is from the automated dialer of the American Cancer Society - call 1-866-435-7227 to be removed from their calling list. I learned this from reading comments on this site. whocalled.us is an extremely valuable service!
The "automated dialer" has been calling my household several times a day for weeks. This is no way to "request" donations. I WILL NOT ANSWER CALLS WHEN THE CALLER DOES NOT IDENTIFY HIM/HERSELF. These automated dialing systems ought to be illegal. There is no forgiveness even when it is a nonprofit doing this. It is harassment. Legislators, are you listening?
I say AMEN and AMEN. We have that same philosophy in our household. If someone, anyone wants to "hide" behind or block their number, then they DO NOT DESERVE to talk with us. To hell with them!
This number is for the American Cancer, We recieced calls DAILY at 8:30am and at 9:05pm, no message. We called back this number and followed the prompt, and removed our number thier call list (would take up to 30 day to remove # from list and also put on blocked list through our phone company). We are on the do not call list as well.
ACS TERRIBLE WAY TO GET MONEY!

This caller comes across as "Not provided" & this number. They'll call from 4 to 6 times a day & not leave a message. This has been going on for well over a year. Sometimes they call from different numbers with different caller ID's, including "American Cancer Society" on one of the telephone numbers. One other number from them is (866) 647-9734. I think that I had contributed money to them a couple years ago & one of these cancer charities I was block leader to get my neighbors to contribute & we always exceeded the amount we were shooting for. (eg. total expected for my block was $45.00 & we gave $85.00) & this went on for a number of years. They did it through the mail instead of the phone, which I like better. I won't answer my phone if they don't identify themselves. I also get calls very similar from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society @ (845) 790-8097 and they are as persistent as ACS.
OR......call the number back (888-200-0381), press the number 1 and you will be directed to enter the number that you want to have removed from their calling list.
We have been getting calls from 888-200-0381 twice a day for the past several weeks. When we would answer, no one was there; if we let the call go to voice mail, there was no message left. So I also called 1-866-435-7227 and was connected to the American Cancer Society. A very pleasant woman told me that our number would be removed from the calling list within the next 30 days, but probably sooner. Can't be soon enough for me :-(
This number called twice in past 12 hours. "Unavialable" name listing. Hung up when I answered both times. If this is ACS, it makes me want to never give them anything.
They called at 6:45 pm CDT. I did not answer. Rude to call at the dinner hour.
None
For a charity, they are overly persistent. They have called nearly everyday for weeks when no one's home and then just hang up. They are in fact ACS, but why they would not have this show up as such in caller ID is a mystery. BUT if you do call back you get an automated system which allows you to have your number removed from their list.
I've been getting calls, too (888-200-0381). (I never pick up these calls, even when I'm home.) On another blog the "tip" came up to press a number to be taken off the calling list. Be careful about pressing numbers. I read in the newspaper about 1 1/2 years ago that pressing a number opens your line to the caller's use (i.e., abuse). I'm sure the American Cancer Society wouldn't do this, if you can believe it is, indeed, the American Cancer Society. I wonder why our Caller ID reads "800 Service" instead of "American Cancer Society", which certainly would convey much more credibility.

Our tax dollars at work.
I just called the number mentioned below (1-866-435-7227). The situation is exactly as they describe - a problem with the automated system of the American Cancer Society. Call 1-866-435-7227 and they will remove your name.
Someone from this number has repeatedly called me for a long time. When I pick up, they hang up; when my answering machine picks up, they hand up.
Very Annoying.
no answer no message
They call every day and never respond when you answer. Mad!
When you recognize this “rude number” answer the phone and blow air horn or very loud whistle into phone mouth piece (let it rip!!!!!). Believe me they will take you of the call list. Works for me!
They called again this morning before 9am CDT. I did not pick (never pick up calls identified as "Toll Free Call or the like) but sat right next to the answering machine to see what would happen. It is usually a hang up. This morning, however, a woman's voice said, "Hello!! Hello! Hello!!" and then hung up. Apparently, she believed that a live person actually answered the phone when it was, in fact, really an automated greeting on our machine. Too funny. If I was trying to sleep in on a weekend, it wouldn't have been as funny. These people call at least twice a day and it is getting really annoying. In these times where every donation or volunteered hour counts, it is not a good idea to continue to conduct business in this matter. Good luck with the donations....you're going to need it!!!!
They keep on calling but don't leave a message. I give to charities of my choice. American Cancer Society should realize how they turn people off by doing this. Any charity that is calling people continuously at home is a turn off! Get a clue! We pay good money for our telephone service, so leave us alone!!
I called back, and pressed 11 during the menu recording and had them call themselves 5 times at 40 minute intervals.
I've just received my first call from them. No response when I answered. I'm sure this is a phony. If they were really from a cancer society, they would know for a fact that I've never contributed in any way to the orginization. Actual societies keep a very detailed record of their patrons, which I am not a part of. If these calls persist, I will hire a detective and get police authority involved and have the calls stopped.
unavailable
I called the number you all suggested below
and they said they would take me off the list
thank you!
This number or something like it with the caller id of 800 service has called my house today 5 times alone. They never leave a message. I've about had it.
Called numerous times over the last week. I was finally able to answer the call, and they identified themselves as the 'High Plains Chapter, something something something', representing the American Cancer Society. They said because of my past participation with them, they were asking for my help again. I have NEVER dealt with them in the past, so, I told them that I could not help them, since I couldn't verify who they were, and I was unwilling to provide them with any personal information.
I just called the 1 866 435 7227 number and they took me off their call list. They are
trying to get volunteers for something. Anyway she said it would take 48 hours up to 30
days but it would stop.... just fyi.
Company: American Cancer Society
DNC Status: Exempt
Call Purpose: Charity
Recommended Action: Answer call or call back if missed, politely request cessation of calls
i called the number and it's a recording from the american cancer society. i emailed the american cancer society regarding this issue and asked them to take my name off their call list.
I cannot believe how many calls I am getting from this number! Enough, already!
Called 1 866 435 7227 It is American Cancer Society, Was told that they have a program underway, Notes for Neighbors; told them not to call again as it doesn't help my fibromylagia or my osteoarthritis. They agreed to remove me from list. They have called 2X a day for the last several weeks without leaving a message. This marketing method is rude disrespectful, and unproffessional. I just became a NoN-Supporter of this organization. I will now look for names of employees of ACS and call them at home
I was being harassed by 888-200-0381. They called one or more times a day for months and the name came up as "unknown". I followed Bambi's advice and called 866-435-7227. It was indeed the American Cancer Society and they said they would remove our phone number from the list.
These people call in the middle of the night and it rings once or twice and then it diconnects. I need to sleep at night so I can think during the day at work. It is 4 am now and I can't go back to sleep because they have already called us 3 times tonight and then hung up after only 2 rings.
I have call blocking, but when I input *60# and then put in this phone number, the operator says there is no such number. Other times, as soon as I input the *60, it says it's the American Cancer Society.
This number calls me 2 - 3 times a week. I have asked them not to call, but they still do. Most often they hang up when the phone is answere.
This phone number calls at all hours of the day and ignores the National Do Not Call List.
I wish charities didn't have the right to harass me by phone; even worthwhile ones like the American Cancer Society. :(
I wish I could stop these idiots from calling- they do it every night it seems, my mom too.
Maybe with the new administration, our right to PRIVACY will be given BACK to us!
Agree with all below; it's the American Cancer Society. I called it back, got the same toll-free number as below, called it and a very pleasant representative said she'll remove my name within 30 days, but they try to do within 48 hours. They've been hounding me for MONTHS and I never answered.
It IS theCancer Society. The information here is correct, if you wait through their message there will be an opportunity to remove your number from the system.
I don't believe this is from the American Cancer Society. Whom ever the hell they are, they are persistent bastards.
I keep getting calls from this number and there is no one on the other end. I say "hello" several times and nothing!! ANOYING!
These calls are from the American Cancer Society. As a charity, they're allowed to call people on the "do not call" list. However, it's illegal for them to block their name or number. So I guess you could report them to the "do not call" website for blocking or not showing their name.
They asked for my wife. She was not available, so I asked to take a message. Caller would not identify who they were.
This number has called me at least once a day, sometimes more, for the last four months. I do not answer unless it is someone I know, so I do not answer this call. I am just tired of this coming at all times of the day even up until 10:00 at night
Called the number back and it's a recording from the American Cancer Society saying they are "sorry they missed you and will call back in the next few days. To speak to a representative dial 866-435-7227. Operators are available 9AM to 10PM ET Monday through Friday."
Have had many calls from this number, with hang ups on voice mail, hang ups when I answer. Today, I picked up, recognized the number, and immediately said, "Don't hang up"--and she didn't. She said she was from the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Cancer Society and didn't have any idea why anyone would call and hang up. She was very Southern, very pleasant, and said she would put my number on their do-not-call list. We'll see.
These calls are from the American Cancer Society. Apparently they are having problems with their automated calling system. If you call back the number on the caller ID, you will be given a number you can use to contact their office (866-435-7227). The representative I spoke with was very much aware of the problems and was quick to remove my number from their system. She was also very relieved that I was understanding of their problems or at least that I didn't take it out on her. I imagine she has received a ton of angry calls about this problem.
8;30 am hung up when answered
called before 6 am ....idiots
Someone from this number has called repeatedly for the past several days. No one is ever there when we pick up
call back the number (It is the american cancer society)i got a prompt after listening to the spiel about calling another number for customer service, wait and press 1 for more information about the organization and the call list when prompted. then you enter your phone number to be taken off the list.
It says that they have 30 days per Federal law, but they will try to have removed in the next couple days.
800 Service is all that shows
Called 7 times, I momitor, they hand up when recorder picks up. get them to stop. Please.
daily calls...no messages...no name I will not answer phone if I don't recognize the number.
If it is the American Cancer Society they should identify themselves on the caller ID. What annoys me is when I get home from work I find that they have called 4 to 5 times! Enough!
American Cancer Society. If you call them back you can remove your #.
i think it's possible that these calls originate from a service seeking to charge annoyed recipients of such calls a fee to track down the callers' identification. just ignore them. if it were a real or important call, they'd answer or leave a meesage. to quote Gunny Highway: "Don't give them the satisfaction".
star-69 didn't work but I called and it's American Cancer Society
Called and after a few seconds hung up.
Answering machine hang up
888-200-0381 showing unavailable---I answered call and whomever it is hangs up?
No one on other end.
Called work phone Feb 4, 9:09am EST (617 area code), left no message.
They call several times a day and if I answer the line is left open.
No message
