How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

They left a message saying "need a reference" for someone I know. They said, "can you have her give us a call ...we have an education update for her". I looked it up - they are actually a student loan collection agency.
They called my Mom....said they needed to "update" my college paperwork....I DIDN'T GO TO COLLEGE...Total scam artists.
calls work looking for info9rmation on a former employee. wants to know where they are now, where they work now, a number, an address, a email addy, all kinds of stuff. I just listen to them and say, "don't know". Then b4 I hang up I say "thats info that we are not at liberty to give about an employee or former employee...and YOU KNOW THAT." Then I just hang up.
They called for a relative and said they were "a third party caller." Very vague, would not give further details. It sounds like some kind of scam.
Bad deal - do not deal with any (and particularly THIS) collection agency. Read up on your rights. Send cease and desist orders via register return receipt mail. BuddHibbs.com is an excellent resource to combat the malicious tactics employed by these con artists known as collection agencies.
