Big companies, political groups and market research firms hire them to get important public views! Most of the employees are college students trying to make ends meet so if you care at all about other peoples lives and not just your own you will take the time to answer the 5-15 min. survey and help them and their family make a living, not waste their time and cost the pay raises! Being a human being is not too hard!

When you get dead air is when the auto dialer is connecting to you and if you wait for a response someone will answer its not some conspiracy to find out when your home, its computer lag! If you don't know what your talking about you should not talk! The more times you open your mouth the more opportunities you have of putting your foot in it!

It does not matter if your on the do not call list! Surveys, charities, and political, and people not selling you anything can call all they want get your facts straight or shut up!

Received repeated calls (5x in 1 hour) No response to my hello, just a click -- very annoying. Tried to reverse search number, but superpages.com doesn't list. Funny, but an advertisement from another company pops up -- they'll give me name -- for $15!

Called 5 times in last few days. Three were today. No one speaks, tried calling back,line busy.

I dont know who is calling but it get annoying. I got 3 calls this morning I would answer and nothing. Like they hang up. I call back this # and I would get a busy signal.

More.... Looked into the matter further.... the call was apparently about a town hall meeting at the Samaritan Center (not "American Shortening" - as I said, it was a very poor quality recording). The meeting is being held by a state senator, and it will deal with auto and home insurance issues in Detroit.

Very, very poor quality automated message with a man unintelligibly speaking a mile a minute. The content seemed to be about lowering insurance rates and an April 5 event at American Shortening (???), 5555 Conner in Detroit.

Two calls today. Noone was there upon pickup. The message left the second time was from Governor Sanford er. Workman's Comp.

I keep getting calls from this number on my cell phone and when I answer, it's a pre-recorded message in a foreign language I don't even understand. Quite frustating as they keep calling and I've contacted the company everyone referenced below and left a voice message for them to remove my number and place it on their 'do not call list'.

I just called them and they said that since they are a 'Marketing Research' company they do not fall under the Do Not Call Registry. Everyone should call and ask to be placed on thier internal list. I wish there was a list to be placed so you wouldn't even get these calls. Any ideas?

This number continually calls, 2 to 5 times a week, sometimes more. There are never any messages left, there is only silence on the line, and if I pick up and say hello, there is never a reply. I'd love to know all the "who, what and why" of all these calls, and to learn how to deal with them, either through the phone company or our own privately bought means, either in equipment, software, or both.

This number comes up as - 800 Service - on my caller ID. We have the "call zapper" and I believe it is zapping it, because when I answer there is a hang-up. I get a call from this number every other day.

This number called me 4 times in the past 2 hours - when I answered there was no one on the other end. The time between my response and their hang up has varied from about 1 to 7 seconds.

I have the cure!!!! You are being called by a machine and the machine calls 100+ people at a time. If the company only has 10 employees working the phone that day then if you are number 11 you get dead air. Her is the fix. You need to trick the machine into thinking that it just called a non-residential number like a fax or a modem. When you pick up the call you need to press # and then any 7 numbers fast. This makes the machine think that it just got connected to another machine and drops your number from its data base. You may need to do this two or three times but it will work.

my Mother and I both receiving call about the same time 3 towns apart from this number. I thought we had the "DO NOT CALL LIST" for a reason. I agree with Thea In VT that this is borderline hassassment! What can we do about this. Dates 10/24/06 3 times @ work for M and 3 times for T all within a half an hour. This is crazy.

They have called several times, most recently 9/28 at 8:01 p.m. Caller ID "Toll Free Call" so I don't answer. If this is a political call, they are exempt from the "Do Not Call" listing. So until the elections are over.....

This seems to be an election use phone number. My call was for a local Superintendent of Schools race. I also am on the DO NOT CALL list however, political and religious donations are exempt from the restrictions.

Today I received a call from 877-686-7358. It was a recording wanting to know if I planned to vote in the Aug. 3 primary election; and wanting to know who I was going to vote for. I don't think it's any of their business. But the big problem is - I am already on the Do Not Call List and have been since it began! So who do I complain to about receiving this call even though I am on the list? The call I received was on Sunday, July 30, 2006.

has called 3 times in the last hour! Doesn't leave a message/when I called the number back, I got a really fast busy signal

877 686 7358 called five times in about half an hour, never left a message, hung up each time. When I called back on the number got only a fast busy. Very annoying and when I find out who is calling you can bet I will not to any businesss with them ever again.

Being called from this number 3 time within half a day. Never spoke. Very annoying.

calls repeatedly (July 16, 2005 - 2:54PM, 4:30PM, 7:08PM), hangs up up on answer. NOTE: Caller ID displays:

has called several times over the past day or so but no answer when I pick up and there are notices on my caller id that the number has called when I have not been home.

called 3 times today & the person on the other end of the phone said nothing i called back & got fast busy which means ( i work for a phone company) this is a dod line ,direct outword dial means called only go out of thier business & does not take incomming calls ..This is some type of business line

THREE ANNOYING CALLS so far today from same number. Nothing on other end. Waited for sound or noise and nothing but click hang up. How can I stop this????

got 4 calls today..just says toll free number on Id..no one sopeaks when I answer the phone. Busy when I try to call back. very annoying..WHO IS IT

Called three times today 7/16/o6.Caller ID said Long Distance. No one on line.

When I answered there was a high pitched sound and then a dial tone.

I called back and got rapid busy signal.

Received 2 calls today 7/16/06 - no one on the line when answered. waited - got recording - call can not be completed. Fast busy when we try the number. Would LOVE to know who this is!

automated call to support SMART (Detroit area bus service). Returned call but fast busy! Very poor quality of their auto dialer (cheap junk).
