How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

JC, You can report all you want, if you call Verizon Wireless like I did, they'll tell you it's legitimate and not a scam, it's really them. You're wasting your time, just ask them to stop calling AFTER they identify themselves. It's a law that they cannot call you back.
They say they are from Verizon Wireless and that they are calling to renew the plan I use. And then say they have to verify some information -- this is a scam phishing call as I don't even have Verizon wireless -- I reported it to the Federal Trade Comission online (they have a consumer complain form at ftc.gov) which is the federal agency that goes after these scumbags. I would suggest you all do the same as it helps the FTC build a case against whoever is doing this scam.
according to my phone bill.. charges are being placed on my bill that are bounced from another one number
I called Verizon customer service after getting a call from this number. The rep said it sounded like it was an actual Verizon call and she checked my account to be sure that nothing was changed (b/c I didn't authorize any changes). She said they have a Marketing department that makes calls like this. I agree that it's annoying...but nothing to worry about!
calls like clockwork for several days, then same the same the following week. Freaking annoying.
They have called most every day since November 30th at various times: 6:17pm, 2:57pm, 1:15pm, 1:16pm, etc.

This number called me Nov 27 at 1:26 pm, Nov 28 at 12:38 pm, Nov 29 at 12:33 pm, Nov 30 at 12:09, and Dec 1 at 11:40 am. Completely out of control. Is there anything I can do about this- contact a congress-person? Thanks

I called back and they claimed they were calling on behalf of verizon wireless. Then I called verizon wirless to have my name removed from their calling list. I'll see if this works.
come to think of it, this website is also a bit of a joke too. There is no mission statement on the homepage saying any action will be pursued on our behalf. It's possible that disturbed individuals would want to use this site to keep a tally.
This joker has been calling me from 877-654-4489 for long time. Maybe 3 or 4 months. Sometimes twice a day. Same deal as the rest of you guys. I've just filed a complain on donotcall.gov but I think this is more on the illness side of the scale, rather than commercial.
They will not stop calling my home. They call early in the morning on the weekends & even early on Thanksgiving! They will not leave a message. Tried calling the number back but it was always busy signal. I'm on the National Do Not Call Registry, I thought I was not supposed to get calls like this. I just tried blocking the number, I guess I'll have to wait & see if it works.
after pause they said hello and claimed to ve verizon wireless. they had old info though, not current, so i became suspicious. they could be a contractor to verizon wireless but were definitely not verizon wireless because they could not look up my account, had no current access to my account. i refused to talk to them. i hate getting marketing calls. verizon charges oodles more than everyone else and for that price i expect them to bug off.

They have called every day for the past 3 days. I answer, they wait a few seconds and then hang up.

about 2-3 times in the week of September 18, 2006. I answered, but the caller said absolutely nothing and I hung up. Same deal three times.

Every night we receive calls from this number. They never leave a message
I answered this call and said "Hello". There was no response, but I could hear the person breathing. After about 20 seconds of not getting a response, I hung up.
This call was made and no one was on the other end. Do not call again!!!
