How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:

These people call every day. I have received 8 calls from them today.
I have been getting these calls on my cell also. This has been going on for about 2 months. Here is what i just did.I put the number in my contacts list and made the ring tone "none". At least now they can call and it won't bother me by ringing.
I have been getting these calls at least four times a day. They always call me right at 11am and then it varies. It is getting really annoying. I answered once, but there was no one on the other line. I've been hearing that it is some collection agency. They must have the wrong number or something, because I'm only a sophomore in college (I don't have any debt). I don't think my phone can block calls either which sucks.
Android phone users. Download callfilter app from the Android market .just add this number to the blocked list .that's all.
To frustrated and annoyed (and irritated and vexed) individuals, a mere ten days ago I pointed everyone seeing this thread to the FTC site. That's a good Square One for advice on responding to debt collectors. Yes, I did say "responding", and there are both smart and stupid ways to do so. Ignoring them is poor advice. They have become more shifty and lawbreaking than ever as our economy wheezes.
Allied Interstate is no exception. The firm has been quite busy hustling and shaking down alleged debtors recently, to judge from the rise in consumer complaints. The FTC this month has put AI on the hook for $1.75 million, the second largest fine the debt industry has seen, for chronic violation of the FDCPA. I guess they figure they should pay their bill with your money instead of theirs.
I get calls all day, morning to night, every day from this number. I have answered and explained that person they ask for is not at this number and asked them to stop calling so many times that now I just ignore the call and there is never a message left, but they sometimes call 2 or three times in a row. There has to be a way to make this stop!! Hmm - they are calling for the 5th time today right now!!
I see people saying that this number calls them 5 times a day... try every hour starting at 8am and ending at 10pm. which is what it has been doing to me every day for the last month or so... some one else said don't answer and it will go away. I'm doing this and it doesn't seem to work. I don't get it, what the hell can I do to make them stop calling me?
only 12:54 in the afternoon and they have already called 3 times today.
The DNC registry is for telemarketers, meaning sales. Charities, debt collectors, political speech, and surveyors are all exempt. If you are receiving misdirected or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, you may find relief in the provisions of the FDCPA, which regulates bad collector behavior. It grants you control of how you are contacted, and collectors can be sued for their crimes. Those of you getting multiple daily calls may be able to work up a harassment charge, though such things are subjective.
Learn your rights at FTC-dot-gov.
"AF" over a year ago was wrong about one point. The major creditors DO hire hostile and untrustworthy collectors before charge-off. FDCPA thankfully covers them as well.
--------------------
On a footnote, "JC" is one of many aliases for a chronic spammer, a Ventura law firm too cheap to buy a real ad where it belongs. They've littered this forum for months with misleading sales copy under the guise of debtor advocacy. The quickly lashed-up promo web pages it promotes under varying alias URLs repeatedly direct the visitor to a supposed complaint form, which is really a prelude to a "representation agreement". Sooner or later they hope to charge fees to someone who likely cannot afford them. They want you to think you can't exercise the private right of action the FTC grants without someone in a suit holding your hands, but a smarter debtor knows better.
They have done this to me before. They will call 5-6 times a day for weeks on end, then it will stop for a while, now it has started again. Just dont answer the phone when they call and they will eventually go away. I know it's a pain, but there is not much else you can do. They never leave a message and even if you do pick up the phone, they dont say anything.
The phone rings at least 5 times daily from this number. Looking at the history of calls, the previous times called falls from the directory, the last the only one remaining, until they call again. It is extremely annoying!
these people at Allied call several times a day every day. I do not owe anyone and if they think I know someone that does they are mistaken because I wouldn't tell this scrungy bunch anything.
stop calling - what good does it do to be on no call list.
Allied Interstate is a debt collection company. The "Do Not Call Registry" has absolutely nothing to do with debt collection calls. The FTC is not likely to do anything about your individual complaint. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) regulates all debt collection activity including harassing telephone calls. You can collect $1,000 for harassing phone calls, doesn't matter if you owe the debt or not. A debt collection can't harass you by calling repeatedly or even once after you tell them they have the wrong number. If you are getting called from Allied Interstate, check for FDCPA violations at stopdebtcollectorsharassment.com

Fyi..... regarding my message below about the pre-paid cell# getting spammed, Verizon told me the 877-642-1263 is an automated dailing# that cannot be successfully call-blocked through Verizon services, so had to have my cell# changed. Verizon waived the fee since they were unable to call-block, but still, this sucks- such an aggravation.
I had just had my credit reports pulled last month, no Allied anything on any of them, nothing past due within statue of limitations (old $139 cc from college 15 yrs ago that was settled in 2001 but still showing).
Although Experian had reported info on my report from some person in Ohio (never been there) with same first name, different last name, SS# & address. I successfully disputed & Experian removed the info from my report.
Now I'm wondering if that had something to do with it, although still don't know how this company got an unlisted new cell# that only my husband & I & Verizon know.
I keep getting calls on my new, unlisted cell#. This is a pre-paid emergency phone that my husband & I only use when he travels out of town on business in areas where our regular phone service is roaming, so I only pay for service on the days the phone is used. So far, these calls have cost me over $40, because they come in on days when the phone is ordinarily unused. How do I get them to stop? I don't want to have to pay to change my number on a new phone.
These debt collector scum have been calling my 13 yr old son's cell phone. I called them and kept getting discontected when I told them they had better quit calling my son's phone. Finally I talked to someone and I told them, from my home phone and I could hear them in the background getting my number, it was like an echo and everything I was saying was being heard in the background, that they had better quit calling my son. They said they would take his number off. If they do not I will report them. The scumbags.
They call like 5-8 times a day and when I answer theres no one on the other end. Finally someone answered me and before she could say her name I bitched her out and demanded she remove my number from the list. She said it takes up to thirty days to be removed. I hang up and like 10 minutes later the same number is calling AGAIN!!! Grrr annoying
For weeks we were getting called by this number so i googled it and ended up on this page. After seeing it might be a collection agency called allied i decided to call back. I know better than to do it in that state of mind, i was ready to bitchslap someone over the phone. The guy who answered had a thick india accent, he was pretty nice, i asked why they keep calling, he said they were trying to reach someone i never heard of. I asked who he is, he told me the name Allied financial. I told him i don't know anyone by that name, he said he'd take me off the list so we'll see.
They call about five times a day and usually no one is on the line when I answer. Today they asked for my brother-in-law who who lives 200 miles away.
keep calling i keep blocking there numbers my rule of thumb dont answer 800 or877 numbers unless u expecting a call get there toll free number ahead of time u know its them let it go to answer machine if its important they leave u a message pain in the butt rob
My daughter answered the phone the person did not speak english tp well and was hard to understand after talking to my daughter the person did say this call maybe monitored. I have blocked the call mthe foreigner stated allied not sure what this company is about but I think someone needs to start monitoring these companies.
called me at my office and then the cell number.I don't know how they got my cell.
This is Allied Interstate, a scumbag collection agency.
They buy old debts for pennies on the dollar and then call everyone with a similar name.
They will attempt to extort the debt from you if you give them any information. Just tell them it is a wrong number. Otherwise, they will start a collection process with calls every hour until you pay.
Allied Financial
PO Box 361774
Columbus OH, 43231
They are a Junk Debt purchaser, they were trying to collect on a debt that is years passed the Statute of Limitations. A certified cease and desist letter to the above address should stop the calls.
i came here to look up that number. i dont really care if they are threatening, if you dont answer the phone then you wont be threatened. and i think its a scam because no one has my cell number but friends, so it couldnt be a bill collector.
Looking for Mary. Some bill collector who's doing research from a 411 site. Looking for someone with same last name to try and collect up on bills.
707creditscore.com
Check them out. This site gives them an "F" for what they do.
If anyone is wondering how Allied Interstate is getting away with harassing innocent people who owe no debt look no further than our very own government who uses them to collect on college loans... That would be Federal Student Aid (www2.ed.gov). If the government is using these sleazeballs, imagine how many private sector companies are paying them as well. I'm thinking that a letter to whitehouse.gove, my state's Attorney General, and my Senator are in order. Allied's criminal hijinks has already resulted in several class action law suits and the Web is fairly stuffed with complaints against this company. My local Call for Action News Team and the FTC are also on my list of consumer complaint options. If you're pissed and in need of satisfaction, please do the same.
Allied Interstate, at this number, continues to call us in spite of the fact that the person they are seeking is unknown to us and we have contacted them repeatedly (third time today) to tell them so. Having done some research I found that Allied Interstate is a collection agency that targets people who owe no debt but are willing to pay them just to get them off their backs. Otherwise, they've made a practice of contacting debtor's neighbors, relatives, friends, and employers (or even random people with the same last name), harassing them in order to obtain information on the people they are seeking. Asking them to stop calling is not a solution as they just ignore the request. We are in the process of obtaining legal counsel specializing in debt collection abuse. Please feel free to do the same if you have been needlessly harassed by this company. Try these folks for a free case review and no upfront costs: westopdebtcollectors.com
got a call on a Sunday......did not answer.
They called this morning asking for my ex-husband who I divorced seven years ago and who never lived with me at this number or in this city. Where do they get this number? Why would it even be associated with him? It is in my name and my husband's!
Got a call from this number today asking for my 14 yo son. Because it was obviously an adult male calling I asked what he wanted with my son and he just stated tht it was a personal business matter. He tried to press me into talking to my son but I would not allow it. DUH Oh and he kept using my son's first name with my last name so I have no idea where they got that cause I am remarried!!! I finally told him he needed to remove my son's name from his list.
After looking through my caller id, I find that they have called at least four times this month! Gonna tick mom off and pay hell!!!
the company would not Identify themselves. My advice is dont talk to or deal with anyone that wont say who they are up front.
Have been receiving calls from this number. I have had this phone number for 16 years and they want someone who we do not know! UGH!!
I have been receiving calls from this number for the last couple of days on my cell#. After this number call, immediately an "unknown" number calls. I finally ansewred - just to see what they said. A man with a middle eastern accent stated that he was calling about an auto loan and I had been approved. I had actually been looking for one several months ago. He asked if I was looking for a new car or a used car and I told him I was not looking to be solicted and hung up. I'm sure that because I answered the phone, it will only encourage them to keep calling me. Unfortunately for them - I can be very vulgar and rude when these scum call!! Tons of FUN! : )
I've found at least a temporary solution. Have been getting these calls @ 8am every day (Sundays included) incessantly for months. Asked my son to download the most obnoxious, loudest death metal song he knew of & put it on a CD (Pantera - Suicide Note #2 in case you're interested). When the phone rang I turned the CD up loud and answered the phone with the handset against the speaker and blasted their ears out. It took less than a minute for them to hang up. After doing this every day for about a week the calls started getting more sporadic. A couple times they tried calling at a different time of the day but I caught on and did the song thing then too. Today (knock on wood) I am celebrating 4 days totally call-free. If they start again I'm ready for them.
These assholes call everyday at eight am when I work nights I am sick of their phone calls I just programmed their number in my cell phone and set the ringer for this number to silent so they will quit waking me up. They call every day at eight am except Sunday when they call at five pm
I cannot believe how many other people have been called from this number. At first, I had no idea what the number was, or who was trying to call me. I figured it was a wrong number and let it go. But they continued to call me and I got really frustrated so I called back. There was a man with an accent and lots of background noise asking for "jamal". I asked "who is this?" and he didn't answer me. Then, he hung up. My friend and I looked up the extension code number, and it said something about being a 'toll free number like 1-800"
They haven't called me since I called them back. I have to figure out how to block numbers on my phone.
This caller ID was 877 Services. They only call in the early evening or on a Sunday. I know it's an automated call because so message is left and it hangs up when my greeting begins to play. This time I answered and hit the pound sign several times fast. I understand that this confuses the computer the call is originating from and kicks your number out. It has worked befor from another annoying caller so I hope it works this time.
I got a call from this number today. When I answered, there was no one on the line. After reading this thread, I decided to have some fun with them. With my number blocked, I called them a couple of times and gave them a taste of their own medicine - when they answered, I didn't speak. Did it twice; each time, kept the person who answered saying "Hello?" for a minute or so.
If everyone who was called by this company and got a dead line when they answered returned the favor, perhaps it woudd get the message.
The company name was given each time, but I couldn't make it out. It did NOT sound like Allied Interstate. I then called back again, number still blocked, and asked what company it was and was told Allied Interstate Financial.
They keep calling I don't answer but it bugging me because this is an every day thing.
One more thing guys. If you want to know if this is legitimate call your creditors who you are late or behind paying and ask if you have been turned over to collections. Tell them you would like to confirm what collection agency they use. Most reputable companies like Visa, Discover and Amex do not use this kind of vendor. They will actually call themselves and try to work out a payment plan with you even reducing your monthly payment until you can catch up. Don't ignore legitimate calls from creditors you owe money to. That can land you in court.
This call is Allied Credit collection but shows up as Toll Free. I have done some research. They may be after a very old debt or it might not be yours at all. In my case it is 25 years old when I was just a kid and dropped by the credit card company when I could not pay because I was out of work for en extended period. Each state has a statue of limitation on debt collectors sueing you for debt and if it is so old it doesn't show up on your credit report..like my case they can not put it back on once it has dropped. This is true if you don't use the account, have not promised to pay. I suggest u do some research and find out what is appropiate for your state. Here is a good link with info. credit.about.com
I don't know how long they can call but I have decided I will take the word of the credit card company who forgave the debt. Something they used to do years ago.
Comes up as toll free if you have call blockig just block their number. Collection agency looking for wrong people, old credit card debts that have been written off by the credit card company. They used to do that back in the day if you went through a long period of unemployment. The debt is small and it has been over 25 years since the credit card company wrote it off. It has never been on my credit report and I lived in another state at the time. What is shaky is they won't say who they are when I ask. I refused to say who I was until they said who they were. Yeah they call around 8:30 I just had a call at 8:40 pm. I know other people who have gotten calls from them who don't have bills. They also call cell phones and made the mistake of calling a congressmens office in DC. So they are aware of them. They are the same group I think who say your car warranty is about to expire. I don't even have a car. They used to call with that. Their objective is to get payment information from you, and no collection agency needs your social security number. We pick up the call and hang it up or don't answer. It is voice activated so when you say hello they come on the line or a audio recording.
File suit. When you get default judgment, contact another collection agency to collect. Have fun.
This number has been calling us for days but whenever we answer there is no one there. Today I kept saying hello and finally it rang through to a call center, where a guy with an accent asked for Christopher somebody, who I had never heard of and certainly didn't live at this number (we've had it for over a decade). I asked to be put on their do not call list and he assured me I would. When pressed, he said he worked for Allied Interstate Inc., a diversified financial services company, and they were looking for Christopher to talk about a personal business matter. (That's code for bill collector.) Based on the other posts for this number, I would recommend telling them that "no one by that name is here" (even if they are) just to avoid the harassment. If they call again I will report them.
Beware! Do not take this company--or its harassing phone calls--lightly. Contrary to appearances, they really are a debt collector. (Of the shadiest variety, too. Honestly, it might be better if they were "just" a phishing scam. Read more about them, and their victims, here:)

There is a possibility that, if they are calling you, they have enough information about you to seriously damage your credit, regardless of whether or not you actually owe them money. If you are receiving phone calls from Allied Interstate, check your credit reports immediately, and file a complaint with the FTC.

(And if you're feeling particularly frustrated, file another complaint with your state's AG's office.)
Again, I warn you all, this debt collector has been known to threaten physical violence, to access credit reports without authorization, and to be in violation of numerous other federal and state laws. Don't blow them off; the harassing phone calls might only be the tip of the iceburg.
called at 8 am this morning .I didn't answer and they hung up. That is just too early to deal with phone people that can't speak english and pronounce names correctly.
Allied Interstate?? Financial Services
Didn't answer when I recognized incoming number on CallerID, but got a recorded voicemail message...only the tail end, actually, in which a female voice signed off saying, "...collecting on the money you owe."
I have two landline numbers and a cellphone number, and this outfit (whomever they are) will call each number seconds apart when I don't answer. This has gone on for weeks now and I'm getting pretty damned annoyed with it!
I suspect this is a foreign based collection agency.
Called constantly, Asked for my S.S # said I owe them money. Turned into police today 12/26/08
I also have recived a number of calls from that number only to my cell phone, he said he was a bunniess would not give a name most of the times they just hang up. Told them if I got one more call I would sue and said what for. I huug who are they not amiricans becareful.
A man identifying himself as Kevin Jones from Allied Interstate (both identifications only after I asked) called me at 8:15 a.m. on November 15, 2008. He began the call offering no identifying information asking for the name of a person that is similar to mine. I told him (correctly) that "there is no one by that name at this number."
Called again 10/08/2008 5:45 PM.
11/04/2008 2:17 P.M.
11/05/2008 2:07 P.M.
11/07/2008 01:51 P.M.
My answering machine retrieved the three earliest calls. On 11/07 I picked up the phone and said "Hello." Got no response. Put caller on speaker phone and caller hung up.
Insisted on talking to someone who does not have my number just the same last name and first initial. He said it was a personal matter and he had to talk to him and that this number (mine) was associated with this man. I asked to be put on his do not call list and he said no. I said I will report you and hung up. I was also greeted my loud Muzak. I figured it was a political call so I answered it - just one more day to go of that endless annoyance this year- but I suspect it was a collections call. The caller spoke very poor English and it was hard to understand him. Maybe I should have just gone along with it to find out who they are. Very annoying!
I called the number back and a man answered, when I asked where I was calling he said a financial institution. They have caller id so if you decide to call, block your number. He hung up after I told him I didn't understand what he was saying, but he did refer to me by name.
i never answer this number, they call my cell-how they got it i dont know. its been called- 26th-8.27,17th-7.48,17th-12.58,what is it.
Received a call at 8:07 a.m. August 13th from 1-877-642-1263. I was "greeted" by Muzak. I put the call on speakerphone and after the Muzak ended, I heard the sound of a phone ringing followed by a female voice who said "Hello?" several times. I did not answer. Sounded like a boiler room operation. Failing to receive a response from me the caller hung up.
